The shopping part was fine. The store itself is a little dingy, a little dated, not the cleanest... whatever. The clothes are cute and decently priced. However there's only one bathroom in the entire store - no biggie right - but that bathroom is a toxic waste dump. I assume the employees use this restroom too (since there's only one) and every stall was like Chernobyl had just occurred. Elephant's foot, mutated animals, a nightmarish haze drifting on the wind. You could not pay me to use these facilities. I took of a photo of the worst one but every stall was nearly this bad. I would rather pee in the bushes outside with an audience. The salon is awful. Had one bad uneven too short haircut by Hailee. I waited 3 months for it to grow out. Scheduled with Tonya who did an even worse job. It's so bad I almost shaved my hair off. They make you feel really ugly and it's starting to feel personal. I had to try and fix it. read more

Suzie and John were both phenomenal!!! Not only were they both kind and considerate, they truly were sincere in their approach to helping me have the best experience in your store. During my visit there on Dec. 27th, I came in to get an adjustment on an item that I bought at one of your other locations a few days prior. At the other location, I was told that the item would have a different promotion after Christmas but they never informed me that that location was closing permanently. It wasn't until Suzie looked at the receipt that I realized that I was misinformed. After that, she apologized for the mishap and started taking care of me right away. She then enlisted John's help (The Dept. Mngr.), and he too like her was awesome! The adjustment was done and I was on my way. I have been going to JCPenney for basically my whole life. I always enjoy the sales and the environment it gives. 70% of my wardrobe is from JCPenney. My review is mostly about the two girls working in the returns section. OMG they are so kind and outgoing. Every time my sister and I go to return or pick up they always know what we are there for. The cashiers are kind but my god is this store in DIRE need of inspection. There are ALL kinds of surprises you'll find here, and not the fun kind!! A week prior I went with my dad upstairs in JCPenny to find him a shirt for his birthday and I saw a huge bug crawling around under the mens dress shirts. EW! I took a fuzzy picture of it before it crawled away into the clothes. I had half a mind to leave a review about it but I was like nah I'll just post this on my Snapchat story for a quick laugh for my friends. Just one bug right? No harm no foul. Now a month and a couple weeks later on my way to the fitting room I found a cricket chilling outside on their freshly painted wall downstairs. Did I mind? No because it wasn't bugging me personally (appreciate the pun). I was trying on clothes but then I stopped and screamed when I found this "little" guy on one of the items I was gonna try on next. No it was not the same one waiting outside the fitting rooms (I checked and the other one was still outside the fitting room). Some of the workers didn't even seem surprised, let alone care. If I wanted to shop with crickets and roaches then I'd go to the flea market, but even then that would be insulting the flee market considering it's still cleaner than this place. Another update? My mom bought a pj set from there today as well, she called me just to let me know she found another cricket in her shopping bag intertwined with her clothes too. If I could I would give it zero Stars, I went to JCPenney's to go pay a payment I looked over and noticed the optical area was cleaned out I was surprised and shocked I had just went there a couple months earlier to get my eyes checked paid $75 the doctor said my eyes were fine that my glasses did not need to get a new prescription mind you my prescription is from 2018 I was shocked he even told me that he did a bunch of tests and I told him are you sure he said there was nothing wrong with the prescription I had went to somebody else prior to going to JCPenney's I went to him for a second opinion because I was skeptical what everybody else was telling me that's why I paid out of pocket cuz I wanted to make sure what everybody else was telling me now I was surprised that they were not there it was cleaned out I don't know what happened I don't know if it's permanent but nobody's saying nothing. After being a loyal customer my entire life this store would not return a pair of $50 sandals. I had my receipt and it was 10 days past their "60 day return policy." The sandals had not been worn once and they offered $19.95 as a "store credit". I was not upset about the credit, but not giving me full credit made me mad. I bought formal clothing from here and once going home, I checked the clothing and there were hanger stains on them. I tried returning them and they told me I cannot return them due to the colors being stain and the tags being removed but I have looked at the policy and it has no mention of tags needing to be on, also no employee or employer mention to me that I needed to have tags on them. In April, I entrusted an engagement ring for cleaning at your location, with the understanding that we would receive it back promptly. However, despite the passage of time, we have yet to be reunited with the ring. We were initially informed that we could expect its return by mid-May, but unfortunately, we have not received any communication or the ring itself. Each time we have reached out to inquire about the status of the ring, we have been met with evasive responses and a lack of concrete information. It has become increasingly frustrating as no one within the establishment seems to have any knowledge about the whereabouts of the ring. The situation has escalated to the point where we are required to speak with the manager, Melissa. Regrettably, our attempts to contact her have been in vain, as she is either unavailable or absent whenever we make an effort to reach out. They remodeled a few year back and it was awful, the customer service in non existent, I previously bought EVERYTHING here. School clothes for 3 growing boys. Furniture, rugs, drapes, gifts hair salon services, jewelry (real stuff), bedding, mattresses. How the hell do you run something so great into the ground???? Well the last straw was 3/29/18. Well, it's not bad. The company has been going through so many changes and some of the stores have been closed. I think that they just can't get it together, even though some of the stores are okay. Buyer Beware avoid jewelry dept at all costs. They will not honor sale prices and use bait and switch so you will spend thousands more. This is my experience and why I will never shop ay Penny's again. I purchased a diamond engagement ring on a really good sale in March of 2020 for just over 2k. After waiting about a month Penny's canceled the order saying they were unable to fulfill the order due to Covid-19. I called customer service and after being hung up on several times finally reached someone that told me the distributor had to cancel a bunch of orders due to the shutdown. I found this odd since they were selling the same ring at the much higher price of 4k now. So if I wanted to pay that price I could order it again. After speaking with 3 managers I was told the ring was actually out of stock and the website was wrong however, if the ring came back in stock I could call and get a price match. The ring stayed available on the website for 2 weeks so I called and they did match the price after speaking with 3 different supervisors. Another 3 weeks pass and I get an email that the ring has shipped. Yay! 12 hours later the order has been canceled. WHAT??? So now I have no ring and I can't even reach anyone to get my money back. I have called 5 times and 2 employees and 3 phone trees have hung up on me. Each time they were nice enough to send me to a automated line asking about my experience today. JC Penny's Salon-Hair Designer: Christie I haven't met someone who was so passionate about hair and their job in the salon. It was very refreshing and she was very friendly and full of humor! I came in today at 6PM (the salon was closing at 7PM)... Despite the possibility of finishing after closing time, she was still patient and fully committed to giving my hair the proper attention, rather than just rushing through my cut. I got a basic 1-1.5in trim off the length and long layers. I am in love with my hair cut, even though it was just a simple one--she really knew what she was doing! Was Black Friday shopping of course they had 100 associates on the floor walking around texting on their phones or taking to each other when I get in line I noticed the 2 guys in front of me didn't speak English when they got to the register there was about 6 employees there including manager none of them spoke Spanish they all sat there and looked at each other asking who spoke Spanish I felt sooo bad for the 2 guys so I went up there and translated for them but seriously out of the 100 people there nobody speaks Spanish I'm so disappointed never ever shopping there again And a lot of you Hispanics should do the same I'm offended thanks to us shopping all u J.C. Most people are nice when returning items or picking up online orders, but God forbid you forget to list an alternate pickup person before you checkout. Called the store, and they advised to call an 800 number to add the alternate pickup person after the fact. While speaking to the phone rep. they said they couldn't do that. Called the store back, was on hold, and I hesitated for one moment when the store person answered and they hung up on me. Called the store back, let them know they can't add a pickup person via the toll free number, and was connected with the manager, who.made me feel like I was being interrogated and had no patience to try to work with me on adding husband as thr alternate. I don't think it's too much to ask to add him after the fact, and am now aware of the process, but treating customers like dirt is not a pleasant feeling and anxiety inducing.
