Another dinosaur left over from last century. Not enough has changed with this one to keep up with the times but they have outlived much of their competition. The prices are still a bit high for what they carry but the sale merchandise makes it somewhat worthwhile. I have not purchased anything from them for me personally in what must be over 10 years now as they no longer carry my size. My children come here for certain items that they can not get at Walmart or Target but the trips are becoming few and farther between as online shopping makes finding what you want and need so much easier. The employees seem to only be helpful if you approach them. I remember when they would ask most every customer if there was anything they needed. As usual the aisles are too narrow for wheelchairs and they just don't care as a company. It has become easier to pay the fines when they happen than to meet the ADA requirements. read more

There is a nasty and mean old hag that works downstairs at this location and accosts young shoppers. She does this without a visible name tag, potentially to not get reported. Their mattress selection was okay, however several had old food items under the pillows! Such as popcorn. It might be best to wear a hazmat suit next time you stop by. read more

This location (Florida Mall) simply needs to go away . . . close . . . disappear. It's as if they are already a store going through Liquidation final days. The entire upstairs as shuttered all check-out registers and consolidated them into on single station, and today operated one single team members. There are zero price check terminals in the entire store, which would come in handy since numerous items are not correctly priced on the shelves/racks, and it isn't a pleasure to wait in line the check-out station just to verify a price before purchasing. The sales structure of JC Penney had changed over the recent years, which matches the changes in corporate/CEO leadership. I truly believe they know how much of a mess they are, and simply are not concerned about it. I cannot in any way recommend this store. read more

Large, two-story location that is an anchor for the Florida Mall. Despite being a large store, they really don't have much in the way of offering anything outside of what you can find at their other locations around Central Florida. The stock is always a bit chaotic and unorganized. Shelves are not organized by size at all, so you'll have to shuffle through things if you are looking for anything specific at all. The jewelry section and Sephora inside here are a couple of saving graces to this location. They always have seasonal jewelry deals and they are pretty good. Especially around Valentines and Mother's Day. The staff is pretty nonchalant about pretty much everything. We hardly ever have anyone greet us, and when you get to the register, you'll have a pretty hefty wait if there is anyone in front of you. Overall: C Go for jewelry and makeup, skip the rest. read more

I went to the salon the Saturday before Christmas and got absolutely terrible results. I was ridiculed by the staff and management did not care. They acknowledged that they screwed up my hair but were not going to fix it because I already got a discount and only paid $95. Wow! We got some great values today! Well, except for one. My JCP credit card had not been used in at least a decade [we gave up charging things], but by re-activating, we saved about 35% or so on new sheets and bedspread/quilt today. The sheets are a nice quality and can't wait to get them out of the dryer and onto our bed. SADLY, a nice bedspread we bought, was marked 'KING' and when we put it on the bed, it was NOT a king, it was a QUEEN and far too small. I returned it the following day, and had to pay MUCH more for the the correct size and without the awesome discount I had the previous day. It wasn't my fault someone switched the bag or whatever happened. So disappointed and I believe this was the wrong way to provide good customer service. Also, I just LOVE Liz Claiborne and JCP has an awesome selection of her line of clothing. We shop here often, though this is my first Yelp check-in, but I will say that this store is usually fun and friendly. True, sometimes it is necessary to hunt through the racks for the right size and the style that 'should' be on that rack, but it isn't the store's fault. This store is huge and filled with lots of tourists who seem to just put stuff where they want rather than back on the correct rack. Some of my very favorite clothes, casual and semi-dressy, have been purchased at this store and I find it a good place to shop! Beware, though! If you purchase bedding, MAKE SURE it is the correct size in the correct package or you will endure a painful exchange of this item. read more

I do not write reviews often, but if you're looking for a JCPENNEY, please go to a different location. The workers were rude and entitled. They expected me to know where specific things were located. They have multiple "customer service" stations that were not labeled properly, so it felt like a wild goose chase looking for the returns and exchanges section. Large and well kept JCP, I was impressed as it was the first location I entered in the Florida mall. Inside it was as big and colorful as I remember JCP being. They have their usual Christmas sale going, and right in the middle is a nice Sephora store! Their restrooms might need a touch of help as the first thing you're greeted with is the overwhelming stench of well.. portapotty. Once you're actually inside the restrooms they're fine but in that small hallway between the bathrooms, it actually stinks. I liked how organized the store was. I wish I had more time to stop and actually shop inside. If I can, I'll stop again. read more

When you are tired having no luck in trying to find large sizes at the outlet malls go to JCP! This place has a lot of clothes to choose from and all sizes. I could have shopped a lot more but had to think of the luggage weight... Well, it isn't all fancy brands but good enough clothing for a few bucks. "One of the Best" shopping experiences in my adult life happened this past Sunday, thanks to the patience and perseverance of Lachman, the store associate. With my JC Penny card in my wife's name, I opted to apply for a card of my own; but, forgot the fraud alerts I had set due to a recent credit theft. Lachman patched me through to customer service, who relayed me to the fraud department, which processed my application after verifying my identity with extensive questions that no one would know but me. The discounts available with the card were nearly 70% off the regular price, so it was well-worth the wait. And, the discounts continued, when our daughter found clothing she liked, at nearly the same rate, because of the card. Lachman was helpful to other patrons, while he waited for me to finish the application; he directed folks to the proper location of merchandise, rang up sales; and, checked on my progress throughout. This was an EXTRAORDINARY "Big Box" shopping experience. read more

If you like hearing music in a foreign language while you shop in an American store than this is your place. I have to be honest. Actually went here for holiday photos so I guess I'm really only reviewing the Portrait Studio. Every year I get a great Groupon for holiday portraits at JCPenney. This is my first time coming to this location and it actually was a pretty good one. The staff was very friendly and our photographer was really great with my 13-month-old. We got some great shots to use on our Christmas Cards. It was a pretty busy and there were some pretty nasty customers. On top of it all the computer system crashed right after us, so we had to wait to see our photos and the people behind us had to wait to shoot. All this said, the girls working there handled the situation well. Or at least better than I would of. I think they're required to show you a bunch of options to upsell you products. They did that this time too but were not too pushy when I said no thanks. I actually did find a great Christmas Card design I liked at a better price than I had gotten in the past elsewhere so I did end up getting them there. Overall a great experience and I would have no problem going back there next time. read more

Apparently lazy Americans like myself cannot walk across to the other end of the mall to the big Sephora shop, so JCP added a section in their store. Smart move, as I (and I'm guessing others)would never had gone inside JCP otherwise. It's a much smaller selection here, of course, but the mainstays in skin care, the Sephora line cosmetics as well as perfumes can be found here. The same excellent customer service and shopping experience is also here as well. I found it interesting that every associate I spoke to here is new, so perhaps they were hired just for the JCP store. Hate to admit it, but I am really thrilled about my fav stores all grouped in one section --H&M, ForeverXXI, and Sephora. . . I may never see the opposite side of FL mall again. read more

I give this JCPenney store 5 stars for their customer service! I wrote a review on their online survey portal as requested--it was a very nasty review, as the Sephora employees had treated me like dirt. I received a call a few moments later from a manager who left me a gift certificate and apologized profusely. He had a great attitude and although I didn't ask for the gift card and told him it wasn't needed, he still left it to compensate. Wow. What great customer service skills. I commend JCPenney for this. The Sephora in this store is absolutely disgraceful, however. The employee that treated me badly during my first visit was the cashier to help me return a few items from my terrible first trip...she didn't speak to me at all. Not even "hi." She returned my items, gave me my cash, and watched me leave. Her name is Mariel, and I believe she is the manager there. Truly shocked at the lack of customer service at a hub in such a great JCPenney. This Sephora store converted me into a MAC girl forever! I was treated like a human being there and will forever be loyal to the MAC brand. Definitely visit this JCPenney for everything but Sephora brand ANYTHING. read more

I arrived as they were opened the doors and although the customer service at that time was great it went downhill from there. I was with my daughter looking for a ball gown for her military ball. I approached an associate walking by and asked where they might be. Instead of greeting me she just motioned and said somewhere around the next corner. OK. Once we found some she wanted to try on we headed towards the fitting room another associate stop us and asked if we were going to the fitting room(I think that fact we were carrying 5 gowns tipped her off) when I said yes she said it was closed and we would have to go to the fitting room on the other side of the store. As we were walking there another associate walking and not paying attention to where she was going, almost walked right into me and give me a dirty look really? The merchandise in the store was ok. We found a good selection but I would rather the price was the price instead of everything being marked up to just be discounted. As we were checking out the employee at the register couldn't figure out how to use the coupon on my phone which was giving me another 25 percent off. She just said I couldn't use it. I explained it wasn't expired and she would have to call over her manager to help her figure it out. Well she found a coupon laying around she used instead. I didn't venture any further in the store then I needed to and got out as soon as I could. Customer service skills can go a long way in making a customer return or not. Placed an on line order at 230pm, on the website it states that same day pick up orders need to be done by 3pm, so I figured I was in the clear, received an email stating that the order will be ready for pick up in approximately 4hrs, I go about my day and find that I need to buy other items from JCP so I swing by and handle my other shopping while I wait for the "ready" email, about 730pm I walk up to the online pick up counter to inquire about the order since I still haven't gotten an email. The lady starts by saying she knows online list same day pick up orders are till 3pm but at this particular store they only honor same day for orders placed before 2pm and anything afterwards automatically gets pushed till the next day!!!! WTF!!!!! An email a phone call I mean ANYTHING. So I ask if someone could help me find the items I choose, answer was simply no, I ask to be pointed in the direction of where I could search for the items, answer was " I only work for online pick ups".......literally there were items I compromised on just so it would be for same day pick up, if I wanted to wait till the next day I would have bought through Amazon and got better pricing and better customer service. Sad for a company this larger to allow stores to make their own rules about customer experiences in this manner. read more

Sep 22, 2017 - Sephora inside JC Penny at Florida Mall, Orlando, FL. Totally disappointed with Sara, a sales rep for Sephora Kiosk inside the JC Penny store. Be aware that the Sephora sales reps will send you to the Sephora store in the mall unless you are buying! My wife and I went to return two items that we purchased the day before at Sephora Disney. Sara quickly greeted us. As soon as we told her that we needed to return two items (we had the receipt) her demeanor changed. She explained that because Sephora Kiosk Inside JC Penny uses a different coding, it be best if we went to the mall Sephora main store "just down the hall". The main Sephora store was located clearly all the way on the other side of the mall; ugh! We explained to the Mall Sephora store sales rep the situation and she explained to us that the JC Penny - Sephora kiosk sales rep did not tell the truth; they could in fact have helped us return the items and refund us the money. She continued to explain that the reason why Sara (Kiosk sales rep) sent us to the main store (over 100 folks have complained about this recently) is because JC Penny does not like to do refunds because it shows on the accounting side as a negative income for the store. In other words, sales reps in the JC Penny - Sephora Kiosk are encouraged to send customers to the Main store to prevent this negative transaction. I don't know how true this is but when I spoke to one of the JC Penny managers , Tonya, she apologized for the experience and assured us that she would address this with their staff, that this is unacceptable practice. Tonya was very graceful. Sadly, Sara, the Sales rep when approached after we returned the items, basically told us that she didn't care if we talked to the manager, denied everything, and continued to attend another customer, which by the way, Sara was telling the other customer our situation. The customer while leaving told us to just leave things alone and move on! read more

Absolutely shocked at the state of this store today! A complete wreck. I was with my toddler so had a stroller with me and could barely navigate this massive store with the amount of stuff on the floor. It was everywhere!!!! It was worse than shopping at Ross. I am a JCP cardholder and a long time shopper but I will not be going back after what I saw today. I there was a manager walking through housing goods yelling on her walky talky about the lines and walked right passed a pile of pillows that had fallen all over the floor. I understand they are closing stores but how about take care of the ones you plan on keeping open so people will keep coming. For such a big store, this place needs serious help!!!!! read more

When to return window covering that was brand new sealed items were about 2 to 3 years old each item was worth about 20 dollar total of 4 items manager stated the most that they can give us for the items purchased from the store was a dollar 99 for each item so basically $18 in merchandise and they were willing to give us $8 back also to request to see or speak with a manager took about 25 to 30 minutes horrible customer service do not shop at this location. read more

Because ....we were using it as a shortcut to our hotel and they had already called closing for shoppers. Super nice lady walked us through and called security to drive us the short distance back to the hotel so we would be safe, very classy. I like the department store but the SALON IS AWFUL. My 'designer' arrived 10 minutes late for our appointment. I went in for a simple (dark) coloring so she proceeded to apply the color to my scalp forgetting, however, to wipe the excess coloring from the skin around my face. After she applied the color she set her timer and went on a munchie run to the drugstore. SERIOUSLY? She was snacking & styling her own hair throughout my entire visit. When she went to shampoo my hair she not only got soap in my eye, but in my ear as well. I could tell that she was trying to correct her mistake of not wiping the color off my skin because she kept scrubbing my forehead & around my ears. I guess she thought it would be a good idea to then add some RED color to my forehead area to try to cover up the brown stains left along my hairline/forehead area (like I wouldn't notice) When I mentioned the discoloration, her response was "oh, that'll wash out eventually." After the shampoo she aggressively combed my hair, ripping out clumps instead of working out small tangles. After she blow dried my hair she decided wanted to flat iron it as well (unrequested) which would have been fine if she hadn't repeatedly burned my scalp & set the iron so high it practically singed my baby-fine hair. I can't believe I paid $75 dollars to be treated so poorly (me & my hair) Now I have a strange reddish-brown hue around my face & a job interview in the morning. I will NEVER visit this piece of crap salon - what a shame; it USED TO BE so nice... :-( read more

'Tis the season to be tacky, but I truly wasn't expecting the "size does matter" flasks prominently displayed on a table next to the boys clothing department in an old family oriented store like Penney's. The place to wait in line was not marked at any cashier station we went to. No signage, no floor marking. We looked. Stood facing a cashier, arms loaded with gifts to buy, no one else in sight at ant time during our wait. When it was our turn we placed our things on the counter. Cashier turns to man that literally just walked up to wait on the opposite side of the counter ... like we did ... and says the lines over there. She then waves him over and expects us to move. We did. Leaving a couple hundred dollars in gifts on her counter. read more

Horrible experience. I went into the Altamonte Springs location to get a trim! a TRIM!!! showed a picture and all. The lady seemed pretty nice. My hair was to my belly button when I went in. Its now to my shoulders. I was in tears. The lady had no idea what she was doing. And Heather was her name kept me facing away from the mirror so I couldn't see. At one point she accidentally used the cutting scissors instead of the thinning scissors and took a huge chunk of my hair out and said "opps my mistake". Im so livid it took me a few days to calm down before I acted crazy in that salon. They aren't cheap, they charged $48 for a "trim". My mother already paid and went shopping or there was no way I would have paid. I will be getting ahold of a manager and getting my mothers money back. read more

This is a quick review of only the JCP salon at Florida Mall. I have only been attended to by Natalie, who I followed from her previous salon. She understands and can tame my naturally kinked-curly mixed-ethnicity hair. Flat-ironed smooth or big bouncy curls. The challenge is my hair is fine brown, gray and has a white streak in front which resists color. I love no gray! with chocolate underneath with highlighted top. I always get compliments when I go to work. read more
