Favorite place to take our yearly friend group Christmas pics! The online scheduling process is easy and efficient, and the desk staff and photographer are always kind and willing to work with our vision! We always get the studio membership which I believe is good for 2 years and helps save some money on photos! With 7 people we paid $20/person and were able to get 15-18 pictures with 2 different back drop selections. read more

This is a review for Arrowhead Mall JC Penneys Portrait Studio. Please ask for Denai (sp?). She was amazing with experience, caring, & creativity with her art. She had the job of doing a re-shoot where we were not satisfied with a less experienced and busy shoot. Kim made us cared for and Denai took great photos of our 4 and 8 yr old children. The selection and value was what we always expected at this studio for all their photos. Plus, they can go to Shutterfly where you can get additional products, prints, share with others, etc. and they can stay there as needed. read more

I was very disappointed and confused when I checked out at the register after my shoot and was charged an extra 70$. The lady who photographed us and helped us check out gave me an estimate of about 180$ after I asked to only pay for the digital images (just regular, no added on extra editing). I already thought this was more than expected, as I had looked at prices online beforehand. The lady then told me a canvas comes with the order, and she would give me membership benefits to discount the order. I asked if I had to pay extra for this canvas or for her to apply membership benefits, and she said "no, it's under the 180$." She then said "oh, there will be some tax on that as well." When I checked out it was over 250$. I was confused, but was in a rush and needed to leave (the checkout process, and this lady applying all these "discounts" took a very long time). A few days later, I get my photos and there are not only the regular images, but edited black and white, and clip art versions of the images. I was annoyed because she asked me about the black and white and edited clip art images and I had said I wasn't interested in either. Additionally I got an email thanking me for paying for my JCP perks 2 year membership. This was the last straw for me!! I can not fathom the amount of lies I was fed during a sale for a small set of digital images. The images themselves were good quality and the shoot was quick and went smoothly, but the service that followed was unacceptable. Never again will I use this company, as I cannot afford for them to be lying about what they are charging me for and how much of my money they are taking. I'm currently working with a help team to cancel my membership (which turns out to be difficult as well). Super disappointed!! read more

Went here to take my 3 month old's pictures. I had a 3:30 PM appointment and didn't get into their tiny studio until 4:30 PM. So if you plan on going here make sure you're flexible on time. They also said to arrive 15 minutes early. So being there for an hour & 15 minutes took a toll on my baby. By the time they were ready to take our family photo my daughters wake window had closed. We had to take pictures while she slept. If we were seen at 3:30 at our set appointment time it would have worked out perfect! So just be aware. I only like 2/8 pictures. They didn't seem to have great instructions on how we should sit, stand, look. I would recommend you browse the web and show them how you would like your pictures. read more

I had pics today at the JCPenney Portrait Studio. These reviews on here all seem to be for the location in Tempe. However, the JCPenney Portrait Studio I went into today was the one at the Superstitions Springs mall in East Mesa. I went in hoping to get some business headshots for online. Before my appointment they called to confirm and also advised I can bring props or a change of clothing. When I arrived, I was greeted nicely by 2 ladies - one was the normal photographer and the other was in training. I would rate both very highly in communication skills. They were both friendly, personable, and the kind of photographers that just immediately put you at ease. They were great at giving instructions on how to stand, where to place my hands, etc. and also came over and fixed my shirt when my bra strap was sticking out. They ended up taking about 20 different pics. I was only interested in digital pics (not physical) and had a coupon for either 1 digital image for $59.99, 3 digital images for $79.99, or ALL the pics (digital album) for $99.99. The only other fee was a $14.99 sitting fee. After taking the pics, they show them to you on a computer. I really liked them. That's saying a lot too because I'm older and usually very critical of my pics. I bought the $99.99 package so I could have them all. They use Shutterfly and had all my pics transferred there within about 2 hours. I love that! Everything worked out even better than expected and I already have all my pics. The pics you get in this are Jpeg around 2400X3000 and a 300DPI. You also have all rights to the pics to do as you please. I wasn't even planning on writing a review, but just had such a good experience. I'd recommend going to the JCPenney Portrait Studio at Superstitions Springs Mall. read more

We had an amazing experience at this studio. We were quite nervous because we were taking our 2 dogs in for their first family portrait with us. Our photographer Davina was fantastic. She captured great pictures. She was very patient with our pups and was so sweet to them. We were the last appointment of her night and went past closing time but she stayed there patiently with us while we put together our amazing package. 1st, the photographer that was working did not know how to use the camera and had to call her boss. 2nd.... the photographer cut my head off in one of the pictures. 3rd pictures that were taken were just bad period. 4th had me sitting on the ground.. no chairs.. stool.. etc... By the time we were reviewing the pictures our infant was done as me and her were sweating so bad from being in the room where the pictures were taken. We paid $100 for a digital album that was supposed to be emailed within 48 hours... its been over 4 days now and still have not received it. We want our money back!!!! read more

Three times we've had photos. Two times we've been disappointed. I continued to give them chances because bought a membership and I really liked one of the photographers. But our second set of Christmas photos were a disaster. Our photos were scheduled at 930 We arrived at 9:15 and there were still 3 families in front of us. Our toddler was adorable and playful in the lobby but an HOUR AND A HALF later when they were ready for us. He was done. No amount of cute noises or distractions could cheer him up. We ended up with a total of SIX usable shot. SIX. Down from the 28 we got the previous Christmas. When I mentioned to the women at the Cash register about how disappointed we were in the last of photos she basically shrugged and said "Well it's the day after Thanksgiving, what did you expect" Sorry JC Penny. I gave you the ol' College try. We are going to see if we can find a photographer to come to our house this year for Christmas photos. read more

This place is completely unprofessional. I would give 0 stars if I could. My first experience with them was personally not awful but the people who were after us were waiting for like an hour for us to finish and once we were done with us, the photographer told them they are closing for lunch. She said this AFTER they had been sitting there with a baby ready for pictures. It was extremely uncomfortable leaving. This experience though was AWFUL. We had an appointment for 1:45, half of our party was there on time, the other half got stuck in the parking lot traffic trying to park but we walked in before 2 o clock. The 2 o clock appointment walked in AFTER our whole party was sitting in the lobby. They pulled in the party that came after us and didnt say a word. I pointed it out and we asked and the explaination we got was. "The 2 o clocks whole party was here at their appointment time so they go first." Even though we were all sitting in there when that party walked in. The front desk lady was completely rude about it and that explaination made absolutely no sense. We were also already spoken to by another employee who already had us pick backgrounds and made it seem like we were next. Im livid at how awful they treat people. Do not get your pictures done here. They arent worth being treated like garbage. read more

Terribly disorganized. Made an appointment for a large group and the photographer complained about the group size the whole time. Went to pick up the CD of portraits and it wasn't in by the due date. Very hard to get a hold of. Completely disappointed and would never spend any money there, again. read more
