We went to JP this Sunday October 15 2023 and the registers were down for a bit in the morning and we were waiting in line. And the girls were very polite and the this was in the women's department. The problem was when the registers went back online the line started backing up so the girls started doing one line which that was fine they were just trying to get everybody quickly and fairly and then a manager came up I don't remember her name and scold their register girls in front of everybody and used foul language she's rude and embarrassed the girls at the registers. When I say the lady I dealt with was backwards I mean she was BACKWARDS. SO MY Wife did an online order and they emailed and said it was ready. So as I was out I went to pick it up. She filled out the where I parked and the make, model, and color of my car. The lady walked out without any items and told me that it's not any orders that say ready. So I called my Wife and she sent me the confirmation and I showed it. The lady responded by saying "well sometimes we have to have you come in if it's over $500" the item wasn't over $500. "We'll do you guys have the same last name?" Yes we do but what does it matter when you just told me there isn't an order ready? She goes back in and brings the item that was READY and packed in a shipping envelope. Then she had the audacity to say "well next time make sure she puts you as an alternate person" THERE WAS NO OPTION!! So I rolled my window up on her and drove off mid sentence. read more

So I drove over there, and surprise, they didn't have ties in the color black that I need for my work uniform. I don't know who's hiring who over there, but they suck. I've been going to JCPenney Optical for my glasses for a few years now. My most recent visit was this month for three pairs of glasses with a new script. Patrick and Sunny helped me with my needs. They were patient, courteous and personable. JCPenney also fills my scripts correctly which has not always been the case at other places. Nice selection of frames and they run good deals! I LOVE JcPenny! I always have coupons and some type of sale is always going on. I was so glad that they remodeled the store and moved it to a better location in the mall. I used to shop at the old store, but now I find myself at the new JcPenny much more. The parking it much better because the store is at the end of the mall and they that three different ways for you to enter the store. You can enter in the mall, or from two outside doors. The home area of the store is large, well stocked, and full of helpful staff. I was looking for a new bedroom set for my mom and she is picky. The sales associate who was in the area was a young guy, but he was great at helping us match pillows and throw blankets. They do not have a catalog department here anymore so you have to go online. I guess that was a thing of the past anyway. I like that if you need a size and they don't have it in the store, they will order it for you and ship it to the store free. I had a awful experience at this store. I was racially profiled, and harassed while shopping here in their Nike department. I'm a black male in my 30's, no need to say more. While shopping an alarm continued to go off saying "customer needs help in the Nike department" as if I pushed a button asking for assistance. There were employees around but no one responded to this announcement. I went to the dressing room and brought several items. I came to find out why many of these items were on sale. The quality was very low and the fit was off. Nevertheless, I went back to the department to hopefully find better pieces. The alarm sounded again and a minute later a lady who I think was the manager stopped by and said "good morning do you need any help". I told her no, that the alarm kept sounding and I had no idea why. She then told me that's because it was on a sensor, before asking me again if I needed help. At the time, that exchange seemed kind of odd but I didn't pay any attention to it. She walked away after asking if I needed help 2-3 times. I picked up a few more items and headed to the fitting room once more, and she chased after me saying "oh did you want to try those on"? As you all know, JCPennys has a self-serve fitting room, unlike say Marshall's or Walmart who have attendants there at all times. So usually you just go in and try on your items. She proceeds to count my items, I had 8 she says there's a 7 item limit. So I had to leave one item out. I looked around for their fitting room policy on the wall and was unable to find one. So at this time things are all starting to make sense. Anyway I try on my items and I could hear that they stayed behind at the entrance of the fitting room area. The manager had to take off afterva few minutes so she called for a replacement. While I was changing 4 or 5 customers came back as well. However, as soon as I came out, immediately the lady said "thank you, have a good day" and walked off. She didn't even count my items. They just didn't want me in the dressing room unattended. Back to the part about the sensor in the Nike Department. I am now convinced that it is only there to alert Jcpenneys when blacks may be present in this area of the store. Since I'm sure it's well know that blacks are fond of this brand. I'm almost positive there's no sensor in the men's Wrangler or Levi section. After that experience I couldn't bring myself to spend any of my hard earned money at that store. With Nike having an average sales price of $50-60 I was easily going to spend at least $200 that day. Instead, I tried on several items seen what I liked, and ordered online directly from the manufacturer. Here's the thing, I understand that people steal. As a business owner, I know the cost of acquiring products, so I know you want to protect your inventory. However, discriminating against people based on skin color is pointless. Every race steals, and if you're hyper aware of one group you're simply giving a greenlight to say Whites, Asians or whomever else you deem to be a nonthreat. Also, people who are determined to steal, will always find a way and they don't necessarily need a dressing room. After googling JCPENNEY racially profiling practices, I seen other accounts of similar stories. Bottom line, please try to avoid shopping there. Have some self respect and go elsewhere. read more

I don't even know where to begin yesterday 9/12/19, I was and I am still highly upset and honestly sick to my stomach with the Jc Penny employees! First off My family and I decided to go to JC Pennys to shop for my sons birthday coming up and for my husband because of our anniversary coming up as well. Fast foward my husband my 2 kids and i are shopping, we have multiple things in our hands because we did get a lot of stuff. Then we go over to the nike section and thats where it all began. my husband wanted some shorts and some sweaters, all of a sudden you hear this thing going off saying customer needs assistance at the nike apparel which we didn't need help it kept going on their were 3 employees close to the nike apparel but yet no one came to help so that made it even more fishy! I told my husband i feel like they think we are stealing because when we walked away the thing was silent but as soon as we went back it did the same thing and then when we walked away. some people went to the nike apparel section and that thing didn't come on at all i said wow . Mind you my husband is black and Italian and obviously my kids are mixed and I am Latina. so he wanted to try some things on, we go to the fitting room and literally asset protection passes right next to me he even says excuse me, i have a lot of stuff in my hands but sitting down waiting for my husband to get out of the fitting room when my husband got out he said he didnt like one of the sweaters so he told me he will be back he was going to get a diffrent one mind you their is other ppl in the fitting room before we were there but when everyone got out the fitting room an employee walks in and she said oh because i guess she didnt expect me to be in there siting on the chairs with my kids waiting for my husband to come back so she starts checking the fitting rooms as if we are stealing (YOU CAN FEEL THAT VIBE WE ARE NOT STUPID) so my husband came back and i told him, he sees the employee and my husbadnd says idc because im a paying customer im not doing shit wrong so he tries on the other sweater and we get out. he literally puts up the things he went in there with to show we are not stealing (why do we have to feel this way?) He said yeah we are being watched! So when we get out the employee gets out as well at this point im feeling super uncomfortable and honestly a lil bit nervous because you never know now a days. I feel like because my husband is black we need to watch our backs more because any little thing they can assume that is( WRONG) but to them is right that my husband or my kids could be at risk of being hurt or killed for no reason i have to be scared to go shopping because my husband and kids are black. after that we were followed every where at that point i got so upset and i made it known I am a paying customer and its sickening that this shit still keeps happening i have to basically teach my kids that they need to watch themselves because they are black they can accuse them of anything and just because they are black they have to be aware of everything be alert and basically protect themselves and do things certain ways. So we were going to pay and then there goes asset protection at this point is obvious they are following us so we went to another register on the other side of the store just to see if we were for sure being followed and guess what again asset protection is there! I told the lady at the register i know this probably doesn't have nothing to do with you but i feel so sick and disgusted by the way we have been treated today at your store we are BEING RACIALLY PROFILED and its so fucked up because im literally here paying for my stuff i paid over ($300) Literally we can't even shop comfortably because they want to Treat us like criminals which is so fucked up! Went to the Sephora to purchase a Tarte foundation, I had few questions and tried asking a Hispanic girl with long hair for help. She gave me an attitude and was extremely rude. So I just went to Macy's instead where they are more professional and happier. Will never be returning to this Jcpenny or Sephora. I actually ordered my shoes online and when they arrived there was a problem with each pair. The first pair I ordered blue, and they sent me black. The 2nd pair had material peeling off the sides of both shoes. So, I had to drive to the Victorville Pennys to return these items. I returned them, but the sad thing is, I did not receive an apology. I should not have received a black pair of shoes when I clearly ordered blue ones. I also should not have received a brand new pair of shoes with material coming off at the seams. I waited a week for my shoes to arrive via UPS and was looking forward to wearing them. Instead, I had to waste time and gas driving to another town to return them. The least they can do is say, sorry for your trouble. But no. I did not return things because I changed my mind, I returned them because they screwed up my order. read more

About "Jasper", a representative at JCPenney: I've never experienced a more professional, more attentive, more knowledgeable or more courteous representative than Jasper at JCPenney in Victorville. Jasper is truly the epitome of what makes fine retailing these days. When the customer now has so many options of where to shop, including on the internet; it's employees like Jasper that keep guests returning to JC Penney even when a price might be lower elsewhere or online. My recommendation would be to promote Jasper to a corporate level position in charge of training the "trainers" in every region. Jasper should facilitate several modules of training, including, how to properly attend customers, run store departments and be knowledgeable in your products ; to benefit your customers in a way that makes that shopping experience incomparable to the cheaper, non-personal online shopping experience. Penney's has many sales. Their so-called coupons are more like a bait and switch tactic. They promise much; but, if you look on the back with a magnifying lens you will find that virtually everything you might want to buy is excluded. Some might suggest this is a fraud. The bilreceipt shows many discounts so you might miss the one on your coupon. JC Penney is not the only store that does this. read more

I went into the Victorville store today to pick up an item I purchased online and when I entered the store I knew it would be busy with the Christmas shoppers like me but I was ready for it. I went to where a sign hung down by a chain from the ceiling that read "jcpennys.com Pickup" and there was a line of about 12 people and each one of them had things to purchase. After about 35 minutes a lady yelled out, "Anyone here for a pickup?" I and another woman went to where she was then she disappears leaving us standing and losing our place in line. We stood there another 25-30 minutes. I asked a sells clerk where the line was for Internet order pickup and he said it was there and I said, " I can read the sign, but no one in line ahead of me is picking up an Internet order." It responds by saying, "Oh you can do anything here, make a purchase, make a return or whatever." I was over an hour there to find out my order which I made and paid for on December 1st was not there, so I will have to go back to this unsupervised mess again when my order arrives. My suggestion to the store manager is to take the sign down that reads, "jcpennys.com order pickup" and let people go to any checkout stand to try and pick up their order. I know I will not order anything online to pick up at the Victorville store, I will go to another JCP that knows how to treat it's online customers. JC Penny's has always been one of my favorite places to shop and I have never had problems at any of their other stores, like in Ontario and Montclair. read more

my wife and i went to JCP victorville to buy a cal king mattress and bed frame, the sales associate was very nice and helpful or so it seemed, she helped us order a nice mattress and bed frame and we spent about $3,000 except the bed frame we chose was discontinued, according to JCP customer service the sales associate should have known that, anyway we were shipped the bed frame via UPS which arrived 3 weeks before the drivers and the mattress, and we paid extra for the "white glove service' which included full complete delivery, assembly, and set up of our mattress and bed frame, and hauling away the old mattress and frame, the delivery promise date was several weeks behind and when they finally did deliver the mattress the drivers said there were no instructions for them to assemble or set up the frame and mattress, we had to call customer service and argue with them for 30 minutes before they decided to honor our agreement, by then the delivery drivers were upset because they are now behind on their delivery schedule, they hastily threw together the bed frame and mattress and left as fast as they could leaving behind a loose and incomplete bed frame set up with extra unassembled parts left underneath the bed frame, it was very loose, it didnt feel safe to sleep on, we tried calling JCP in Victorville the next day and they referred us to a 800 number for JCP customer service, they blamed the 3rd party delivery service, JCP refused to make it right, all in all it took my wife and i 11 days of constant calling and getting the run around before we threatened to cancel our order and hire an attorney, they finally sent us the correct frame that we had to assemble and set up our selves! not to mention unassemble the incorrect bed frame they sent us in error, the sales associate and store manager are pathetic to say it nicely so is JCP customer service, they flat out said its not their problem and refused to make the slightest effort to try to help us, sadly it doesn't surprise me that JCP is on life support i doubt this stupid store chain will last another year read more

I could not find his size and April proceeded to assist me in searching all the racks, and when we could not find the correct size, she said we could probable order online.
