Got my hair colored, highlighted, and cut. I forgot my glasses so I couldnt really see well. When I got home, omg, the highlights weren't even close to the rootline. I'm talking over an inch in the front. But I could only notice it when I got home and pulled my hair back into a ponytail. AND, all of the highlights are different shades. She SWORE there'd be no orange color in my hair. Yikes! The whole top was filled with awful orange highlights.The back? Super light highlights. None of them are evenly distributed and some of them are wide strips. I've never had a worse dye job and in 52 I think my NON-stylist sister could've done it better. So now I'm out $240 and it's absolutely AWFUL and I'm so embarrassed. I have events coming up and I don't even want to go to any of them. Sorry, but no one should go to Jes. It look her 4 hours for my to totally trash my hair. I'm so sad. read more

I am so disappointed in JCPenney. I shop there all the time. I placed an order for a blouse. I wore it one time, washed it and it fell apart. Was told I could not return it, even though there had to be a defect that I had not seen prior to washing. For what I paid for it , it should not be a one use item. Please beware if u order something online it may not be refundable or replaced even if defective. read more

It's Covid season, the store was one of a few that was open in WireGrass, so we ventured forth. There were a few people inside, most not wearing masks. I didn't see associates wearing masks, either. The bathroom was neat, clean and well stocked, but the store was still stuck in March. There were decorations for March 17th and Easter up for sale. The fashions were for Spring and not yet summer. I understand why, but it was so very odd, like stepping into a weird time warp. We didn't speak to any associates, no help was offered. read more

We've been going to this Jcpenney for years and we leave stressed almost every time. This last time we went almost nothing rang up the right price and, as usual, the cashiers had attitude. A manager at the register even snapped at my mother when she asked why an item didn't ring up as the sale price (which was displayed on the clothes rack and in the paper ad). He adjusted it, with an attitude, because she was right. Extremely unprofessional, especially when we were being nice. I've worked retail and trust me I understand if the register/system isn't recognizing sales etc. but one thing that's never okay is to be rude for no reason. On another note, there is no organization to this store. Full price items are in with clearance and Visa versa. The lines are always very long. Most of this doesn't bother me but I wish they could hire some friendly people again. read more

JCPenney: Kohl's as Batman:Robin. I don't like clothes shopping much but JCP is one of the few stores that seems to bring out my X chromosome. This branch is clean and well stocked. They have sales periodically. One thing I like over Kohl's is they have more printed "fanboy" T-shirts (Marvel/DC/video games/Star Wars etc) I got some photos taken in their studio last summer and they did a good job in terms of pictures, pricing, ease of picking up. Obviously, it wont be super dazzling stuff but for the cost, it was worth it. Sometimes there aren't enough cashiers or they arent in the best of moods, but the positives outweigh the negatives for me. read more

Going by JCPenney makes me flash back to college when I worked at the World's Smallest JCPenney in good ol' Macomb, IL. I loved working there actually! This JCPenney doesn't compare whatsoever. It is a pretty good size! It is very modern, spacious, and organized. Inside they also have a Sephora for your make up needs as well as a hair salon and photographer! Their shoe section is pretty good sized as well. I'm glad this JCPenney fixed up their space and made it nice and new. They did a great job! read more

Today this place was on top of its game. I ordered a dress for my daughter for picture day and this location was the only one that had her size. So I ordered online and picked up in store. Very convenient. Originally when I check off the status of the order this morning I ended up calling their customer service line since the update said "shipped". I got scared since I put in for pick up in store same day. The rep was very nice and explained that that just means that the store was picking the items and would send me an update when ready for pick up. I placed my phone number in when placing the order so that they'd text me updates but never once did I get any text updates. We went to pick it up and found the pick up area easy. In this store it's located near the home area and has a separate line for pickup versus check out. This makes it convenient since other stores combine the 2 which makes for a longer wait. Recommend improvement around the text updates and the descriptions of order status. read more

Got some great deals on clothes for my granddaughter today! I am hoping this store stays afloat in the Wiregrass Mall....the mall has really had a lot of hits with closures when COVID hit and also when the Tampa Outlet Mall opened. I still love it here!! read more

After a walk in appointment (JUST hair trim no blow dry...nothing fancy), I get to the check out counter...$45.00!!! APPARENTLY, I had my hair TRIMMED by a "master stylist!" AS.IF! It's not The Drawing Room in NYC! A $45.00 cut would be warranted if it were a precision cut...it was not, honestly, MOON at Supercuts does a better job for $10.00. This review is for JCPenney's Potrait Studio. If your family is anything like mine, then you have some distant relatives that are constantly hounding you for pictures of your toddler. These are the same relatives that give you items that they picked up from a garage sale for Christmas (seriously Aunt Edna and Uncle Budd, what am I supposed to do with this jingly apple that is heavy enough to knock a home invader unconscious?). For these family members, you probably aren't looking to break the bank by using a freelance photographer. Instead, you want some pictures that are simply "good enough" to get them off your case. Might I suggest a visit to JCPenney's Portrait Studio. The pictures at JCPenney's Portrait Studio aren't fabulous, but they are certainly "good enough." In Aunt Edna and Uncle Budd terms, JCPenney's portraits are the "garage sale" version of photography. What's to like? Well, JCPenney's Portrait Studio is much cheaper than going with a freelance photographer. Sometimes JCPenney's Portrait Studio even offers groupons (or maybe it was Living Social) to make their already cheap photo sessions, even cheaper. The people running the studio are pleasant and professional. During our visit, two of them teamed up to make an unhappy, unfocused and disagreeable toddler, willing to sit and smile for her pictures. That was definitely no small task. The whole process, from booking, to shooting, to ordering was very simple and quick. It's also nice that while booking is an option, you can just walk in off the street and get some pictures taken. What's not to like? The pictures we ordered came out weirdly enhanced. It was like someone at JCPenney's printing lab decided to apply some filters to the shoot. It wasn't enough filtering that Aunt Edna or Uncle Budd would notice (especially if they are hard of seeing in the first place like mine are) but for someone more trained in photography and photo editing software or someone who sees the toddler everyday, the filters are noticeable. Overall, JCPenney's Portrait Studio is the perfect place for getting pictures that are just "good enough." If you want something great or amazing, shell out the extra money and find a local freelance photographer. The difference in the final product is simply incredible. read more

Went shopping with my mother today and she went to exchange an item and pay for 5 more items we found at the same time. Got up to the counter and was told that they don't do returns at that counter BUT that she would do it this time. We thanked her and she began grabbing the pants to start her receipt search and exchange since we didn't have it. My mother started to explain that she didn't have receipt but that she had purchased it on her JCPenney's card. The cashier then rudely cut her off and began to tell us AGAIN that she no longer did returns there AFTER she already agreed to do it. I became angry and grabbed the items from her and sarcastically said I will take it to the return counter then and stormed off. Yes I acted hastily but don't jerk my mother around because you decided to do it anyway. I've worked in retail and I would never agree to do something if I wasn't going to be nice about it. She was not happy when I gathered everything and left to the other counter. If I had known that there was a specific area to do returns after so many years of shopping there with my mother, then I would have done so but NOWHERE on her counter or above the area where she rang customers up it said that no returns were done there or that we must go to a specific counter. I hope this taught her to be kinder to her customers instead of trying to humiliate them in front of others while agreeing to do it in the first place. SO RUDE. Meanwhile, the others at the return counter were so kind and even offered to ring up the extra items after I asked if I had to go to the other counter. Mind you I had not even told the return counter what I went through because I was so mad and I wanted to just forget it and continue our shopping and she still offered to ring the 5 extra times we had. Hated that experience for my mom. She's been shopping at her favorite store since before I was born and I'm 46! Be nice people! It takes more effort to be mean. read more

I shop a lot on many J C Penny. I like them because they have really good price on the mark down item. J C Penny is not as organized as Macy but it has the edge of nice clothing in red tag price. This is the J C Penny I have visited during the yelp event. I always like their Arizona Brand men clothes with soft fabric. They are always have sale no matter which JC I went. Most of the JC has some men department. I like the most is the JC in Panama City Beach with very large men department. This one is a bit small but it has all type of discount. May be season change very soon. Many of the items has mark down to 70%. Just need to hunt for the right size and style dress will take a while. The service of the checkout is always quick since not many people there at men department. Don't go to women clothing department check out. Men department will be easier. read more

Stores started to open back up post COVID. This one decided to open but keep dressing rooms closed. Macy's, Dillard's, Old Navy, etc. have theirs open. I purchased a pair of pants that did not fit so I had to return them. The line to return something was ridiculous and inefficient. I was told I could return anything and they were extending the return policy. Instead of extending the return dates, open some dressing rooms and sanitize them after each use like the other stores are. The return line would probably not be as long to return items if you did. read more

I purchased an adjustable bed four weeks ago. The nice salesman told me delivery would take three weeks, that was four weeks ago, I'm still waiting for delivery. Mind you, my receipt says the bed is in stock. So what gives? read more

Always stand in line for 30+ minutes every time I come to this location. Only one person on a register at a time and plenty of associates just roaming, seemingly doing nothing..... Consider training more cashiers so customers aren't just standing around. the cashiers at the register every time i'm here have zero sense of urgency. they take their sweet time with each customer. i just want to pay for my things and go. read more

Where do I start. The store was a mess and the sizes are all mixed together. Full price items were mixed in with the clearance. I purchased quite a few items including 2 bras. On every bra rack there was a sign which said buy one get one free, mix and match. Of course they did not ring up correctly. The cashier (Olivia) was quite rude and said they are not bogo. I tried to tell her that there was a bogo sign on every bra rack but she ignored me. So I paid and went to another register and explained the situation. There happened to be a manager there (Christopher) who also tried to tell me that they weren't bogo. Being aware of this stores issues I had taken several pictures showing the signs on EVERY rack and showed them to him. He immediately had an attitude and told the cashier to do a refund. I said I don't want to return them I want the advertised price. He said and I quote "I said I'll take care of it". First of all lose the attitude and second of all that's not what he said. Am so tired of things always ringing up the wrong price and tired of the nasty attitudes. I was not rude at all and am tired of the terrible customer service and incorrect prices at this store. Do they think no one will notice?? If you call yourself a manager you should at least show some common courtesy to your customers. The cashier at this register was decent but said "the signs can be confusing". I said I am not confused and can read perfectly well, thank you. JC Penney's at Wiregrass is a terrific place to shop. I found this store to be extremely clean and well-stocked, and the employees were super-friendly. When I was a kid, my sister and I always referred to this place as "Jean Claude Penn-AY" since it sounded so much more exotic. Nowadays, I'm not terribly worried about fancy brand names or little embroidered mascots on my clothing. I much prefer to find clothes that last a long time, and hold up well through the washing machine. And that is exactly what I find at Jean Claude's. I was on a mission to find some critically-important and highly-secretive gag gifts to bestow upon my good friend Eric C. at our surprise going-away dinner party at Ulele later that same night. I found a clerk behind the register in the Menswear department and explained my dilemma. He nodded to his co-worker to be sure that she would cover the register for him, and then walked me over to the display racks. Sure enough they had an entire area filled with winter woolen watch caps and scarves, which was perfect for us to give Eric before his journey to the Great White North. I explained that Eric was a fan of the San Francisco 49's and the sales guy went out of his way to help me find a scarf with 49'ers colors. Now for the best part of my shopping experience at Penney's, I told the clerk that we were also searching for a tasteful, yet tacky, gift which would help Eric to remember his time in Florida. With a chuckle he walked me over to a rack of hideously-colorful Hawaiian shirts that were marked down for the end of the season. A quick phone call to Robbie (Eric's wife) to confirm Eric's size, and I had everything that I needed. What a joy to not only find the items on my list, but also a sales clerk who was having as much fun as me on this makeshift scavenger hunt. We had a great laugh about the anticipated look on Eric's face as he unwrapped each of these items. Sure enough, the gifts were a huge success and I very much appreciated the help from the sales clerk, and the folks who buy the merchandise for this JC Penney. read more

Everything about this store is unpleasant. It looks worn out even though it's not that old, the quality of the merchandise is cheap. The layout is confusing and everything is hard to find. There's only one place in the store to check out which leads to long lines that aren't worth your time for the quality of product you'd be waiting for. read more

This is the nicest looking JCPenney I've ever been in. I'm serious. It was legitimately nice. Usually when I think JCPenney, I'm thinking it will look on the same level as Sears, above K-Mart but below Macy's. This is a Macy's quality JCPenney. They have bird things, and lots of pictures of Gordon Ramsay, and lots of other good stuff. No rugs though. Considering that's what we were looking for, that was a womp womp. This is related to the Sephora store inside JCP. Okay, to start of, I go there quite frequently...I dress very comfortably since I own my own business, meaning, sweatpants and just a comfy cotton top..so I don't look like I can spend a lot of money..But I can..and I do..;) Went in two days in a row to take advantage of my VIB special invite..I was well taken care of by not one advisor but TWO..I had bought in a long wish list and VAN and CHARITY both took the time to help me look for all my items...both so kind and so knowledgeable of what I was trying to locate. BOTH these great ladies really took a lot of time with me. Needless to say, I spent a few hundred dollars on both visits and instead of ordering on the Sephora website, went back in again to finish my shopping. Now I do work for one of the largest beauty companies in the world, but they didn't know that, so I do believe in great customer service..and they made my shopping experience there worth an awesome review! I love this Penney's. The layout is very organized and clean, and they've done a great job of spreading out the traffic. Employees are generally friendly, and they have a great selection of clothing and shoes. I haven't had much luck when shopping for bedding or housewares, so I don't usually go here to shop for those. Love their sales and coupons sent by mail. Bonus is that it's attached to Wiregrass, so you can continue your shopping at nearby places to complete your outfit. ;) read more

This is the closest JC Penny to me, but it's beginning to make the drive across town sound a lot better than coming to this store. The customer service is terrible. There's only 2 cash registers open in the hole store that has 6. Not to mention the spilled drink that has been there for the duration of the 2 hours I was in the store. On top of that every department is cluttered and none of the employees are fixing it. Honestly, the sephora is the only decent part of the store and contains the only helpful employees. The whole place is a disaster and until it's better I am now refusing to shop here. read more

My husband and I went for some last minute shopping yesterday around 5pm for his and my son's first trip together last night around 1130pm. We bought matching shorts for them (super cute, right?) Well, it was around 850pm when my husband pulled the merchandise off the bag, and guess what? It still had the hard tag on it. We were officially on freak out mode, and it may sound silly, but this was our plan and sometimes you want to stick to it. Well, I called the store frantically and got passed through the manager on duty ABBY. She was very polite and asked me if I had time to stop by the store to get it removed, which was why i was calling, because we aren't too far and we could stop on our way to the airport. She said no problem, come by. We took longer than expected, but Abby still waited for us and even gave me a direct line for better communication. Once we got the store my husband was escorted by Chris who went inside and took the hard tag off. But even better, when my husband got to the car, he showed me that they gave us a $10 gift card! What? Who does this nowadays? I really appreciate what she did, the gift card wasn't even necessary, just the fact that she waited showed me that JCP can still put their customers needs first too. Amazing! The only place I trust ! First off I highly recommend John but I would trust anyone there to do my hair. I have been doing my hair coloring myself for years because it's cheaper but it never turns out right or lasts, and normally every salon does even worse then I do. I finally decided to let the professionals handle it and I couldn't be more happy ! I went in with no clue what to do to fix my last hair mistake or what I even wanted to go for. John helped me figure out the perfect color and cut and gave me tips throughout the entire process on how to better care for my hair and what to do about the issues I've had with my hair for so long. He took into consideration all my previous coloring and damage i had done and made it so I have all over natural looking color with no pesky old highlights coming through. He asked me my opinions and thoughts for every step of the process and explained everything he was doing along the way. Normally sitting in a salon chair for hours can get boring and tiring but the time flew by as John was very talkative and friendly and a joy to have doing my hair. I've always been nervous and a little awkward getting my hair done places and I felt extremely comfortable and confident it would turn out well and it's the best my hair has looked in years ! Healthy beautiful color that will last. On top of that when I went the place was packed with girls getting ready for prom ... They made accommodations for everyone who needed last minute appointments even though they were definitely over booked and they didn't rush through anyone's appointment. Every stylist was willing to stay later and help and take their time and evey girl walked out looking amazing. Best experience at a salon I've ever had ! I highly recommend them and especially the wonderful John ! read more
