Stopped in at this corner bar during the WI State Fair. Surprisingly it was not crowded. Service was good and timely. Went in specifically for the Fish Fry. I got the 4 piece breaded fish fry(cod, I believe). Beer batter was the other option along with walleye and blue gill. Meal comes with coleslaw, one full slice of marble rye and either chive fries or cajun chive fries. The cajun chive fries sounded too good to pass on so that was my choice. Food came in a timely manner. The marble rye was good and sliced thick. The cole slaw was average. The fries were a big disappointment. Not sure why, but they were very soggy, seemed to lose any cajun or chive flavor and didn't seem to be cooked completely. But the fish was very good. The breading was thinner as I like it. The tartar sauce was excellent, I wish all fish frys came with this tartar sauce. So while it wasn't the greatest, I would go back for the fish and tartar sauce and opt to pay up for a different side. read more

This is the worse place I've been at in a long time. The food tasted horrible. The tater tots tasted like straight fish. Of course the day after Friday fish fry, you would think they would change the oil. Played bar dice with the bartender. He didnt even drink but took the house money he called it which added to the same price of my double. Hows that even legal. Than I had 7 dollars on the bar and 5 dollars magically disappears. We came here after a funeral. We told them we were expecting a lot of people. I mean A LOT. The bartender said "Oh, I know." and that she would be getting off work shortly, so she didn't care. Well, the crowd started filtering in and she was so overwhelmed. The poor gal needed at least another bartender and a bar back. It took a really long time for them to even take our food orders. I had the smash burger. It was not a smash burger, it was a regular burger, with American cheese, tomato, pickle, lightly fried red onions and bacon. It came with a side of fries. The food was pretty decent. I happened to see the "Half Ass Nachos" and WOW! was it huge and looked so good. JC's is a big space with a stage, a large bar and outdoor patio and plenty of room, so it has potential if they could fix some of their staffing concerns. read more

Dinner date My dad passed away last year and my mom had some Groupons that she wanted to take advantage of. Enter, me. This is totally not the place I'd generally go, nor expect my parents to go. This is your standard West Allis corner bar where locals end up, but it's got a great atmosphere and the food isn't bad either. On the first stop I had a burger which was just so-so, but I really enjoyed their Old Fashioned. On the second stop, I had a delish 12" ham and pineapple (spicy!) pizza which made for great leftovers. Staff is friendly. I'll definitely stop again without the Groupon in the future. read more

I'm always looking for a new place to try and I thought that I would stop over for a cocktail and some takeout for dinner. The place is a nice neighborhood bar/restaurant and not hi class but not divy in any way with a pool table in the front window and a stage area in the other front window, I just really liked how it's on an upper level. The menu is typical bar food with specials and a Friday fish fry but the smash burger sounded good with tator tots. I skipped the craft beer this time and went with a whiskey sour old fashioned which was ok with fresh muddled fruit that kept getting stuck in my straw. First off they really need to explain the super fu%king awesome tots in full because they are not just tots but a golf ball size tot with bacon and cheese in them and delicious. The smash bacon cheeseburger was also really good with fresh lettuce, tomato, red onions, bacon and American cheese cooked pink on a fresh bun. How does this place have 0 pictures of the awesome tots on Yelp is beyond me but I'm changing that. For a nice cocktail and dinner to go for $15 and change that was pretty good from a neighborhood bar always amazes me when they have like 4 pictures that doesn't tell the story so the Steve stop buy is always a plus for the business. I walked in on a Saturday night, there was a band playing and it was not very busy at all. There were 2 bartenders on duty at that time (between 8pm-9pm) and the blonde female was at the north west corner talking to 2 people and looked our way and then turned and continued talking with no acknowledgement to all 6 of us at all. The dark haired male bartender was at the register and again saw us at the bar and no acknowledgement from him as well. We sat for over 8 minutes exactly waiting for some kind of service from them. And still NOTHING. I finally spoke up loud enough and asked for some service or shall we just get our own drinks...... again NOTHING from either one of the 2!!!! All 6 of us walked out and went to the Jock stop and had the best service around!!! I am a very pissed off fellow bartender for the very rude and non-existent service we received that night !!!!!! I have been here twice- for lunch and then late night snacks- and I'm incredibly satisfied. The menu is actually more extensive than I was expecting and great bang for your buck. The mozzarella wonton sticks are pretty phenomenal and I'll be craving them for a while. The bartender tonight was helpful and kind. Oh! An the tater tots? Phenomenal as well. 2.5 stars.. First time we went there (before they served food) we had a great time. Open mic night, good drinks, nice bartenders.. Second visit they were still working out the kinks of designing a food menu, but the food was awesome, as was the service. Third and fourth visits, (sometime in November 2018), food was still good. Burgers were good, fish fry was very respectable. Fifth and sixth visits, food quality went down. I'm not sure if the head cook left or what, but something changed. The most recent visit included a perch fry that had 5 tiny (think slightly larger than a wedge french fry) pieces of perch, for too much money. I don't recall the price right now but it was at least $14. I can handle small portions if the food is great, but this perch was not properly cooked. It was tough, dry, and just not good. We also decided to try their wings, and I don't know what the heck kind of bird they came from, but they were tiny, like Cornish hen wings. I'm not kidding at all- these were the smallest wings I'd ever eaten. I told the server about the small fish and the wings but she didn't offer anything- no money off the bill, no offer of more food, nothing to make things right other than a shot from the bar. I didn't need a shot- I was still hungry! I left a review on Facebook and the owner basically tried to cover his butt and said I was offered more fish. I told him the 3 other people at our table were witnesses to the the fact that he did nothing to make things right, and he apologized and claimed he told his son to offer us more fish (but never did). Not sure if he was honest in saying that, but it didn't sit right with me because he could've STILL tried to make things right through that Facebook interaction, but didn't. Some businesses might get mad when a customer leaves a subpar Yelp review, and even lash out at the customer. I am not a very picky customer, I praise good places when they do things right, and I usually keep my mouth shut if a place is just ok, but when a place like JCs comes around, that starts off really good, and really gives me a good feeling about a place I can walk to from home, fails to impress me at some point, I will leave an honest review because I want the place to succeed. You can't be successful if you settle for tiny, overcooked perch and chicken wings that might not even be chicken wings. You have to bring your "A" game, even if it's "just" bar food. Take a trip to Paulie's, 4th n Long, or Rounding Third, and look at the fish and chicken they offer. No comparison. I know you guys can do better, because you have in the past, and I'll be one of the first ones to come back when things are fixed! Also, I don't know if you're no longer doing music, but you need to advertise on your Facebook better! There's very little information posted lately on your FB about upcoming bands and open mic nights. read more

My husband wanted to take me out for an early dinner and drinks, he had been to JCs' before, and said it was really good. Being early, on a Monday, before a Packer game, it was pretty empty. There was a small group of people diagonally across the bar that the bartender was spending most of her time with. She did make it over to take our drink orders. After a drink or two, we ordered food. Mini tacos for an appetizer (she wasnt aware they were on the menu), burgers for both of us ( I ordered mine without jalapenos), fries and the tots. We were waiting quite awhile, even with the bartender coming over a couple of times, and I had to ask her about the mini tacos. She forgot to order them. Our entire order should have been out by this time, and finally the tacos arrive, burned and nasty. Our plates arrived, my burger with the jalapenos that I didnt want. My husband's fries were cooked to death and cold. The bartender explained this was her 3rd day working here, and the cook was new as well. She didnt charge for the tacos, which we didnt eat. Nor did we eat the fries. The drinks were rang up wrong. I realize the shortage of workers out there is a problem, but there are some basic things missing here. Hopefully they can get it together before this ship sinks. read more

It's a decent atmosphere with good music. I haven't yet tried any food here. What bothers me is the last 3 Fridays I have come here and ordered the EXACT same drink each time, was a completely different price without explanation. Service even before it's packed is SUPER SLOW! The smoking area outside is nice but lacks a heater or maybe a covering. Bathroom stall doesn't lock and the crowd outside after closing is pretty sketchy. Food is great. I've mainly tried burgers so far, but I promise you won't be disappointed. They'll ask you pink or no pink - which can be a red flag. Not here. I get the feeling that their rare-ish or well done burgers are both delicious for different reasons. The bacon and cheese tots are unique and incredibly delicious. If you want bar food, this is about as good as it can get. read more

They had no chicken tenders yet failed to announce that when they handed my friend and I the menu. The ENTIRE staff was in attentive yet we were only 2 of 7 or 8 people in the bar. Walked in through the back door and there were trays of shots sitting in the bar and my friend asked if they were for a party and the server said yes, yet didn't tell us what was in them or even offer us one. 40 mins later those shots are still sitting on the bar. We decided to try this place for a Friday fish fry since we've heard nothing but good things about this place. We showed up as a group of 7 (3 kids) and nobody welcomed us when we sat down. The bar was full of drunks cussing and acting stupid at 7pm. We received terrible old fashioned's and extremely awkward service. Our waitress was so kind but it was her first Friday shift alone. She literally started crying while taking our order and walked away from our table. She came back and apologized she was under a lot of stress because the bartender wouldn't help her even though it was her first fish fry. Food was awful. The meat on the nachos was straight ground beef with no seasoning, the homemade tots were literally hash browns and soggy bacon deep fried, potato pancakes were bland and the fish was overcooked. Our dinner for 7 was well over 125 dollars and it felt like the biggest waste of money. What kind of Wisconsin establishment isn't prepared for a table of 7 on a Friday night? The owner of this bar should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Nice neighborhood sports bar. Good drink selection, bathrooms are clean, and has Karaoke on Friday nights. Drinks are cheaper than at other bars and clubs in Milwaukee. Another plus is that vaping is allowed inside the bar, unlike other establishments in Milwaukee and West Allis. There was only one bartender working during the time I was at JC's Pub, so it took awhile to get drinks at the bar. Forgivable. Patio area is well maintained. Will come here again. Should be a good place to go during the warmer months. read more

Food came out fast and was decent but tiny portion size for the price. If your hungry get the all you can eat. Even though it is not truly all you can eat since they have a limit.
