He was very pushy and so into himself that I had a difficult time getting him to listen so I could ask questions. He finally hung up on me. I'm looking for a licensed contractor to correct the shoddy work of another licensed contractor. Consequently I'm working from the basis of an expensive hard earned lesson. So I wanted it clear I have my requirements and want assurance they will be met. Joel refused to listen, wanted to argue, tell me what to think, told me I should instead hire a handyman (and that my previous licensed contractor was just a handyman). Then he hung up on me. Oh, I did finally get out of him in answer to my question, that Greenlight Building Services has a $500 minimum. My conclusion from this phone call is this company is pushy, will not listen, and therefore cannot be trusted.

Although Hassle Free is a painting company, I contacted Marco based on the positive reviews regarding other, related work, and we were not disappointed. Marco was very responsive, very professional, and very detail oriented. He used the results given to us by an inspection we'd had done, and went around the house bit by bit, taking note of each item mentioned -- numbering and photographing -- and included everything in his estimate. He replaced forty year-old wood balcony railings, and also repaired damaged stucco, matching the paint colors to finish the repair. We were trying to get the work done quickly in order to have photos done by a certain date, and Marco did his best to work with our scheduling. He was friendly and very pleasant to deal with, and we'd love to bring him our business again when we have the opportunity!

It took a full month of follow-up to receive both a proposal and a contract. Upon receipt, the proposed payment schedule required 10% at signing and another 50% on the day the job begins, before any work had been completed. This violates California contractor law on two counts: California Business and Professions Code Section 7159 caps the initial down payment at 10% or $1,000, whichever is less, and California law separately prohibits contractors from requesting payment exceeding the value of work performed or materials delivered. A total payment of 60% by the day work began would have far exceeded the cost of materials purchased and work performed. The contract language itself was equally troubling. A few verbatim examples of what it called for the customer to agree to, with my notes: * "To pay a convenience fee of 15% of the remaining balance for any past due balance." - A penalty rebranded as a convenience fee. * "They have 5 days after complete the job to make the final payment, after that we will start charge 15% per day." - A charge of 15% per day is abusive and not something any homeowner should agree to. * "Not to ask the Contractor for details, only for job progress." - Customers may not ask questions about work being performed on their own home. * "Contractor is not responsible for plants that may affected/killed during exterior jobs." - A blanket waiver for damage to landscaping. * "Claim any details with one week after job completion. After one week, the Contractor will charge for time and materials." - It was unclear what "claim any details" meant, or whether legitimate workmanship issues reported after one week would be corrected at no charge. * "If the Contractor needs to move furniture/material, Customer will hold the Contractor harmless if damage occurs and agrees to pay for time spent." - No accountability for damage to your property. I negotiated the payment terms initially provided in the proposal down to something legal but ultimately chose not to hire All N One. The contract as initially presented was not one any informed homeowner should sign.

You have been warned…read more Triskell was hired by my land lord in La Mesa after water damage was found in my ceiling as I am a first floor tenant. The source of the leak was never truly determined and to bypass responsibility the land management team blamed the upstairs tenant. They subsequently called Triskell to assess and fix the situation. I had nothing to do with the source of the problem but it resulted in water leakage to my suite. The employees of Triskell strong-armed me into signing their legally drafted document. They told me that unless I signed their multi-page document in legal verbiage (which was not easy to understand) that day that they could not have access to my suite. The reps on site told me what came to something like, "don't worry about this, insurance will cover it". They pressured me to believe that without signing this or if I delayed to be able to look for a comparable company that any damage can and will get worse. I asked for a fee quote in case insurance refused coverage. The Triskell rep never provided one despite me asking twice for a quote. Foolishly, I signed their document after the scare tactics and that was a mistake. I found out from the upstairs tenant's insurance company that due to California law, I was unable to piggyback onto his claim. Triskell sent me a bill for over $2,000. This is exactly why I wanted a fee quote in the first place. Unless I was to open a claim of my own and be out my deductible and have this mark on my insurance record, I was then stuck with their $2,000 bill. They essentially had a free range to do what they wanted without any oversight or worry about the cost. I called the company afterwards, explaining the unfair practice and asking for at minimum a discount on the service provided for them to tell me...no! Ridiculous. Unethical business practices on their part. I really hope one day these people get what they are serving up.
