John and his crew just left after doing a great clean up of an over hanging Alder tree (big branches over roof) and a Maple tree in our neighbor's yard that had a large limb over our driveway. They clean up after and made it look great! John's crew chops all the limbs up on site via their chipper. His fee was as good or slightly better than others for what is included. All in all, it took an hour to complete. I would highly recommend JD and his crew! Oh yes, he happens to be an educated Arborist too!

JD up in the tree in the backyard, about midway through the removal of a large maple.

JD Tree Service removed a super tall maple tree in our backyard that had a compromised trunk. The location was in a tricky spot, about 15ft from our house in a narrow yard. JD was recommended by some neighbors, so we asked him to give us a quote. He was very professional and reasonable in the cost. A crew of 3, including JD, came in and removed the tree and all the debris within hours without any problems. Since the yard was too narrow for them to get any heavy equipment into the back, they used climbing gear, ropes, and pulleys! They even did some extra work on the fly that was not in the original quote. They cleaned up everything but the trunk pieces, which we gave away. The yard looked great when they were done! After they left, we discovered one of the stump pieces was too heavy for us to lift, so JD came back the next week to cut it to smaller pieces for us. He also delivered a load of bark/mulch for our yard for free. I would highly recommend JD Tree Service if you have a large tricky tree to be removed!

After a recent storm one of my front yard trees almost lost one of its larger branches. The branch came away from the main trunk and eventually rested on another tree looming over my power line. I got a few estimates and JD tree came in at the most competitive rate. Two weeks later they came with a bucket truck to complete the job.The work carried out was quick and efficient and left me with a tonne of chips for the yard and logs for the fireplace. I'd totally recommend them for tree removal work and I'll be using these guys again to remove the other trees on my property when the time comes.

Fallen tree, hit another tree and broke covering our driveway and back yard.

Eastside Tree Works is, by a wide margin, the best of all of them. The experience started before they even did any work. The salesman who came out for the estimate showed up with an iPad, walked the entire property with me, took photos and video of each tree, tagged the ones we discussed, and had a detailed estimate ready before he left. He clearly knew what he was talking about and took real time to talk through what would work best for the trees and the house, not just push a generic package. When he found out I was a military veteran, he knocked a nice discount off the price without me even asking. The crew that came to do the work was just as impressive. A full team showed up with a large bucket lift and worked through limbing up several big Douglas firs, doing conifer cleaning, and taking down two medium-sized trees. They moved like a team that's worked together for years, communicated constantly, and checked in with me more than once while they were up in the trees to make sure they were limbing to the height I wanted rather than just guessing. When I mentioned my chainsaw had been giving me trouble, they took the time to fix it on the spot. What really sealed it was the cleanup. After 25 years of tree work at this house, I've never had a crew leave the property looking better than when they found it, but that's exactly what happened here. If you need tree work done in the Redmond/Eastside area, stop looking and call Eastside Tree Works. Professional, knowledgeable, fairly priced, and genuinely good people to have on your property. I would highly recommend them!

We opted to split the work between two companies who replied. Eastside Tree Works is one of the two companies; they were hired to crown-reduce/windsail/shape a flowering plum and a katsura tree. I waited to write the review to see how the trees recover and regrow. The quoting and initial process was very smooth and professional. Their response is fast for both the initial meet-up and providing the quote. Everything was done on their iPad, and quotes sent soon after. The task was also completed quickly. The task isn't significant, and they readily came and finished. The clean-up details are excellent. When done, I observed the flowering plum looked shapely but the katsura looked like a bad haircut. They agreed to come out and trim a stray branch that stuck out compared to the rest of the katsura crown. The katsura never regained a normal tree crown shape. It still looks like a bad haircut will a divot, v-shape at the top. See photo. The flowering plum is growing perfectly well this new spring season. Their cost is competitive.

We agreed to pruning after a branch had previously fallen on my neighbor's house, so we wanted the work done responsibly and according to an arborist's recommendations. The tree is also classified as a Tier 2 tree under Seattle code (previously called an "exceptional tree"), which made it even more important that the pruning be done carefully and conservatively. Before any work was done, I hired an arborist to evaluate the tree and provide a report, which was referenced in the contract. Unfortunately, it became obvious afterward that they either never read the report or completely ignored its recommendations. The tree was massively overtrimmed and heavily underskirted to the point that it now looks mutilated. I am genuinely depressed every time I look at it. What was once a beautiful mature tree now looks stripped and unnatural. The company never communicated with us directly before doing the work and instead coordinated only with my neighbor while I was out of town. At no point did they review the plan with us, discuss the arborist recommendations, or confirm the scope of pruning before cutting. To their credit, they did provide a partial refund afterward, but it does not make up for the irreversible damage done to the tree or the distress this has caused. We hired professionals because we wanted careful, informed tree care -- not permanent damage. Extremely disappointed.

Our first job was a major one: removing a very large tree--well over 100 feet tall--that was leaning toward our home. It was not an easy decision, as we loved that tree, but safety came first. The care, professionalism, and respect MTS showed throughout the process meant everything to us. The work was done safely and expertly, the cleanup was immaculate, and the crew treated the situation with genuine understanding. It was clear right away that this is not just a tree removal company--these are true arborists who deeply understand and respect the trees they work with. Years later, when our landscape needed attention again, MTS was the obvious choice. We had overgrown laurels we couldn't safely trim ourselves, neighboring trees contributing constant pine needles to our gutters, and several shrubs that needed proper pruning and reshaping. MTS sent an arborist to walk the property with us, listen carefully, explain our options, and help us prioritize the work within a realistic budget. There was no pressure--just knowledgeable, honest guidance. The crew that completed the work was outstanding: professional, articulate, thoughtful, and incredibly clean. They did all the pruning we discussed, answered our questions, and even offered species-specific advice--explaining how certain pruning choices would improve the long-term health and appearance of our plants rather than harm them. We plan to use MTS Tree and Landscape every couple of years for ongoing pruning and for all future tree and landscape needs. It is rare to find a company this skilled, respectful, and genuinely invested in their clients' property. We cannot recommend them highly enough.
