JD Tree has been my go-to for years. This is a small, local business. John, the owner, is a certified arborist and takes the time to help his clients understand exactly what's going on with their trees. If the tree in question is healthy or can be saved, he tells you so. He doesn't try to sell you work that isn't needed. John and his team (shoutout to Chris) do the work themselves. They're efficient, take care not to impact anything on the property, including other trees. And they clean up everything afterward (it looked better than before they came, lol). I've had them out previously to trim back my Doug firs and neighbor's giant sequoia off my roof; on another visit they removed my gigantic dying holly tree. Most recently they took care of a huge hanging widowmaker (from one of those same Doug firs) that was poised to fall on my house. We had JD Tree service out this week, just before the weekend windstorm, to prune 8 trees of varying sizes. They did an amazing job! (And only a few twigs were found I the yard after the storm!). John was out a week prior to give a free estimate, at which time we were able to schedule an appointment just a week later. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and open to questions/concerns. The owners do all of their own work, and stand by it. They arrived when promised and took the necessary time to complete the job. They made sure the yard was completely cleaned up before departing. John helped us plan out the details of what was needed, and was very responsive throughout many calls with questions and advise. I had been approached by other companies. The bids they gave were as high as $12,000. I felt very uncertain about proceeding, so I looked online and found JD Tree Service. John arrived when he said he would. Amazingly, he looked around and after examining the trees in question, he told me that I didn't need anything done!! I had a difficult tree with major storm damage right next to my garage. They used their bucket truck to take it down without any damage to any of my property. The most honest guys in the tree business. Doug came out to give me an estimate and talked me out of most of the work I was looking to get done. He pointed out that the trees were healthy, and there were no guarantees that branches wouldn't still come down. A large tree recently fell on our house, slicing right into it. JD Tree Service was out within an hour of calling them at 2 AM and didn't leave until the tree was gone and the house had a tarp over it.
