I joined JDCU soon after moving to NH and there was a Branch in Lowell right down the street. We have Checking, Savings, IRA CDs, Mortgage, Equity and a Car Loan through them. Every interaction with them, whether in person or on the phone, has been handled with courteous professionalism. I worked at a Credit Union before and like the fact you are a Member and not a Customer. This means a lot! My only complaint is when my son recently applied for a car loan. He has a Checking & Saving acct with JDCU. He has a good job, great credit, and a decent down payment for the car. He applied online and was approved immediately. The process from here on out couldn't have been more awful. He contacted the Loan Dept and they told him what he needed to supply. He was never allowed to speak directly with the Loan Officer, all calls are routed to assistants and they act as go betweens. Everyone he dealt with was great, but this added to the amount of time to get even simple answers to questions. He would supply the requested paperwork and there would be a problem. That would get resolved and then something else would be needed. He spent almost 2 weeks going back and forth trying to line everything up and provide whatever they needed in order to get the loan so he could sign off on the loan and go pick up the car. It would have have been easier if they asked for everything they needed at one time instead of piecemeal. They were even trying to force him to get his own insurance policy even though he was listed as a driver on ours. The last couple of days was particularly taxing and I tried making phone calls to see what was going on and could never get a satisfactory answer. Finally, everything seemed to be in place when he received an email requesting info on the Lien Holder on the car. There was no lien holder. The Title he had provided showed their was no lien on it and they had that the entire time. It seemed like no one was looking at the paperwork. He decided to give up as it looked like he was going to lose the car and we were tired of trying to resolve an issue only to have another one crop up. We gave him a personal loan so he could buy the car and he abandoned the loan application. Was really disappointed in JDCU over the mess. :/ read more

I was a loyal customer for 15 years, including direct deposit, mortgage, refinancing, etc. In 2025, they paid a monthly automatic charge I had set up twice, and admitted to it being their mistake. They refused to make it right, and told me it was up to me to go after the funds ($2700) myself. Unbelievable. AVOID THIS CREDIT UNION! read more

I was a customer of this bank for a long time. I sold a picture to an artist in Maine. Then, I was overnighted a check from the buyer and asked the bank to please verify the check where they said only if I deposited the check. I did , then a couple days later I was informed it bounced, never spending a dime of it. My account was restricted and I was questioned with all my other transactions.... I had to close the account and chose another bank in town. I'm very disappointed.... read more

Member CARDHOLDER SERVICES, Specifically Andrea if that's her name is terrible! The questions asked were not specific to my dispute. She said that after all the questions were complete she would document all other information provided that wasn't able to be documented with the specific questions. When I asked her to review that information with me she refused to. She asked if I had anymore information and I said yes but I need to know what was documented so I can provide what was missing. I have been transferred from the branch to cardholder services, then transferred "to the appropriate department " without a name. I was then transferred to "ANDREA" in the mystery department. The supervisor Rachel you working offshore and no ability to meet online through meeting apps that companies use regarding this recording and this complaints. Jeanne Darc provides no access to online meetings like to their managers to have meetings with customers. read more

Their HELOC product is the worst - you should definitely go elsewhere if that's what you're interested in, and here's why. They recently implemented an electronic transfer limit of $5,000 per transfer in/out per day/week with an additional limit of $10,000 per month per transfer in/out. So if you want to take out $15,000 to pay for something, you're out of luck! You would have to wait a month to do this! Or if you were fortunate enough to receive a substantial amount of money and wanted to pay back your HELOC to reduce your interest payments, you're also out of luck because remember you can only transfer up to $10,000 into your account per month. So they are FORCING you to continue paying additional interest on your loan. I can't actually believe this is legal but somehow it is. They will tell you this is in the name of preventing fraud, but actually it's in the name of them making more profit. Then they will tell you they're a non-profit bank here for you and the community, but actually that couldn't be further from the truth. They say they're here "To help our members make smart financial choices." I suggest you make a smart financial choice and run away from this bank as far as you can. Don't believe me? Horrible service, deceiving tactics. I prequified for a car loan they gave me a range of 25-35k which I quickly for went to look for a car and when found the one I like I was told by the dealer that they capped me at the lowest range. None of this was communicated to me. In fact I was completely rushed out the door when I went into the branch to ask questions. Time for a new bank!!! read more

I've had JDCU at this point for like 20 yeas. I think it may be time to leave. Used my card at the vet yesterday. 450 dollars. The money came out of my card and yet there is still a hold for same excat amount. I am getting different answers as to why, and they cannot release the hold without me jumping through hoops. i cannot access 450 of my own money because of some screw up somewhere. Meanwhile some automatic transactions are bouncing and I'm hold the money will be held for 3-5 business days. This is a sign for me that it is probably time to switch to a different credit union, this is insane. read more

In February of this year I was scammed and unknowingly remote deposited a fraudulent check for $1,500. My account was frozen temporarily, which I understood, but when it was unlocked, I wasn't able to remote deposit checks, no matter the amount. My husband and I moved to South Carolina in March, now my husband is no longer able to remote deposit a check. We are being penalized for an honest mistake. Absolutely horrible customer service. I was victim of a fraud scheme and had to find out on my own and request action be taken. Additionally, am now being told if I don't pay the amount I was scammed, it will go into collections. I have been trying to get ahold of someone about this matter for over 3 weeks. The police officers assisting in this case even said this is not how they see these type of situations handled by financial institutions. Extremely disappointed in their lack of accountability, as they will stand to profit over $80.00 from the scam case the police are investigating and I will have to pay money I never had, am struggling to get a hold of someone as my credit can now be hit due to their immense delay. Just a downright horrible credit union they have provided no information for the account leaving the person who wants to register it online to be clueless and left in the dark with no opportunity to find that information. Frankly, I would never recommend this credit union just for the lack of help when you were not given the information that is needed just to do the simplest of things. Second review in a week, an even lower rating. Went to the drive-up branch atm, machine could not complete the transaction. Drove around front to the lobby atm, machine said i exceeded my daily limit. Checked the account on my mobile ap, showed the first withdrawal was recorded. Immediately called the debit card service number, waited 8 minutes to talk to a rep with a typical off-continent accent who could not help because the phone numbers she has on record are my two landline numbers from twenty years ago(ok that ones on me). Called Jeanne D'arc, closed on Sunday, done. I'll go to the branch tomorrow, settle the atm issue, then transfer my 5 figure accounts to a major bank. 30 year customer out the door but it will be worth the hassle to get away from a small, local credit union that only responds to Yelp reviews. read more

Terrible customer service. The employees are rude and they don't help fix issues when needing help. They give a constant run around and you have to get transferred too many times and constantly put on hold. Absolutely terrible experience with this credit union. So bad that I had to come to yelp and leave a review (I never leave reviews). They messed up several things with my car loan and title when I moved to a new state. Then when I finished paying off my loan they proceeded to lose my car title in the mail - unacceptable. They took no action to resolve it and didn't send the title with tracking or registered Mail. Because of that I had to take time off to go to DMV and get it situated. 0/10 would not recommend this credit union - look elsewhere. read more

Words can really not express how incompetent these people are. You can't leave a google review of them because they've blocked them. I have credit card through them. Without telling the customer, they changed the credit card company and number of the card. So, the old online account no longer worked. I had not downloaded all of my statements for that year. TOO BAD!! They were no longer available. So, then I had to create a new account online. It worked fine for a while. The latest is that, the online account has been offline for about a week. No one who worked there knew. I had to call the 800 number on the card and I get someone in the Phillipines. She was competent but could not find my account online the way she usually does. Everyone at the credit union is gone for the day - they leave at 4. so, nothing could be resolved. So, I cannot pay my card because I can't access my account. It is a CF of major proportion. I would say, steer clear from these people no matter what you want from a bank or credit union, they cannot give it with any competence. Read the reviews they are horrible and deservedly so. Unless you want to be profoundly frustrated, I would find another bank or credit union. This one is really really really really bad. read more

This Bank is unreliable!! Today we are expect to get snow, A dusting to an inch and a half and ALL branches are closed "Due to In climate weather". When did New England Banks become so afraid of a little friggin snow. "For the safety of our employees" bull shit! You live in New England , you know how to drive on the roads. First of all, I never write reviews, but I felt as though I needed to here. This is the absolute WORST company I have ever dealt with. I am realtor in the city of Boston, and have purchased 4 homes myself, and heavily regret using them to refinance my two homes 5 years ago. Not only is there no communication from the mortgage broker once they get you to sign up with them, but the website is terrible, the customer service is the worst I have ever seen, and they make mistakes. Some examples: My taxes went up by $40, and instead of notifying me properly, they sent one piece of mail to an old address. This late payment then hit my credit by over 100 points. I have never missed a mortgage payment in the 7 years I have owned condos. I used to use First Republic, and their customer service was outstanding. More examples: Somehow they mixed up the payments between the two properties I have, and it caused hours of agony with them over the phone. I still don't even know if it is resolved truly, but they claim it is. I also just asked for a payoff statement because I am finally selling these properties, mostly because I am done with this bank and can't refinance due to high interest rates, and they said they would send right away, and never did. This was after I waited on hold for over 30 minutes. It's two days later and I have to call back again. This company single-handedly made me want to sell my investment properties. I know am missing things that have happened over the years, but do not use this company. read more

Banking is a generally a pain. Finding a bank or credit union that has decent people who make an effort to provide service is a rarity...specially from the large banks. That is why I like Jeanne D'Arc. They were remarkable to deal with when I needed a mortage--far better than the big mortgage companies. So I gladly created accounts with them. Yet, I did move out of state and felt a needed a credit union closer to my new home. These guys are good. read more

BEWARE DECEPTIVE LOAN PRACTICES....JDCU is kind enough to give members a free look at their FICO 2 score and encourage them to apply for a loan with them based on that score. However, when determining your loan rate and duration they then pull and use a different score via a different FICO version that will come back lower (in my case 61 points lower) and use that to determine your rate. It's bait and swap. If you provide members with a score why use a different score when giving them the loan unless your intention is to deceive? read more

I've been a member with this bank for almost 19 years and I have not had any issues at all ever with them. I have auto deductions for my bills and direct deposit for my paychecks but each time i have ever had to go to the bank (the main branch in Lowell, the Bridge st Dracut and Lakeview Ave Dracut, the Westford, and the Nashua location (I have been to all of these many times) I have had nothing but positive and courteous service. Yesterday i opened a second car loan with the Nashua branch and everything was great!! Only thing I suggest is to have a phone # listed for the offices you get loans through because Nashua does not have a direct # listed yet so calling the # listed brings me to another branch that doesn't receive the Nashua NH fax info from Insurances or anyone. Besides this I have no issues and think this bank is great and has been for the almost 19 years I have been a member!! read more

I visited the Nashua Branch yesterday...There was only one teller covering drive-thru and in bank transactions...I chose to go inside...The teller was cordial, calm, cool, collected...Communicated that she would be with me after finishing with the drive thru customer...she let me know they were short staffed and apologized for the wait...Professionalism at its best...We all know that all businesses are starved for employees and customers can get irate...Stacy's smile and communication skills are just what Jeanne D Arc needs in these stressful times...I did not mind the wait...knew I was next..While Stacy was pleasantly communicating with her outside customer I wondered if I could work with such pressure...When it was my turn Stacy made my transaction her sole focus, after letting her window customers know she would be with them after she finished with an indoor customer...Her customer skills are superb...I am a Marketing Director for a large company and Stacy is the employee I am always looking to hire...The rest of my day was blessed by the gratitude I felt having encountered a genuinely good, skilled, kind person... I paid off my car loan early. I had been making extra online payments, online you can pay towards the principal. When I didn't get my automatic payment taken out, I called and they said that the multiple payments I had made toward the principal were not actually going towards that at all. They could only reverse one payment and add that to the principal. This kept happening for all of my other payments towards that loan. I am very dissatisfied and they are extremely disorganized. read more

I've been a member of Jeanne D'arc since I was a young adult and in fact it was first bank account. I've never had any issues with them and they have always been extremely responsive and helpful when I've called or stop by. Even as I no longer live in Lowell, I still have my bank account and I still do business through Jeanne D'arc. I am definitely happy to see all the upgrades they've done to their online banking and I'm happy to see that they continue to be growing. I also love that as a member of the Lowell community they continuously support charities and nonprofits in Lowell. read more

Talk about Stone Ages. Have you ever heard of a bank that funds a car lease but doesn't have online Bill pay?! I actually have a coupon packet. I bought my first car in 1993 when I was 20 and they gave me a coupon book. That was 28 years ago. This is 2021. Get with the times. So every month I snail mail my payment to their PO Box a week early to ensure it gets 10 miles away by the due date. Can you believe this?! I actually got a letter once that my payment was late. No kidding. That's on them. It doesn't take more than 7 days to receive mail from 4 cities over. Who knows how long it takes them to pick up the mail from their PO Box location. I hate this place. Can't get anyone on the phone and when you email they reply with some lame excuse that they can't help due to privacy. It's a poorly run organization. Wouldn't mind but my credit score is excellent so how did I get stuck with this place. Guess who's trading their car after only a year. read more

If I could give them a negative rating I would. My husband and I have 3 checking accounts between us, 3 savings accounts with the checking accounts, a car loan, and a credit card. All accounts are linked together in their system. We hit some financial struggles lately and have gone through a government credit counseling program to pay down our unsecured debt, which our other creditors were more than happy to accommodate. JDCU was the only creditor to refuse any reduced interest rate or adjusted payment day. Flash forward to two months after entering credit counseling. Our checking and savings accounts are still in good standing: our paychecks are direct deposited and they are in no way overdrawn. The car loan is paid in full, as we are paying secured debt outside of the counseling program. On the first of the month our paychecks went in as normal and....all accounts are frozen. They gladly accepted the deposits, but would not allow us to withdraw any money. This means as I paid utility bills, and the mortgage, each payment bounced. When I went to put gas in my car my card was declined. Forget paying for any food. Turns out JDCU did not want to wait for the payments to start coming in from the counseling program (again, a US government program that every other creditor was happy to work with), and decided to hold all of our money ransom until we paid them $200 directly. Of course they turned the accounts off right before a holiday weekend, which made it impossible to even find out what was going on for three days until they came back in to the office. Now I am being hit with returned check fees from my bills, im up to $175 so far. Plus their demanded $200 means I am out $375 from my monthly budget (they are also still getting a payment from the counselling program in 2 weeks). If there were a way to give less than one star, I would do it. In terms of honesty, this credit union is shoddy with communication on a good day. On a bad day, communication can be outright false. Their website is improving, but awful and frequently is behind in reporting transactions and accurate balances. Their mobile banking is atrocious and rarely reflects the same balance as online banking or an ATM total. Customer service: I had a problem with a fraudulent transaction. Jeanne D'Arc kept the fees they took and wanted the vendor to not only refund the incorrect transaction but also to refund the fees Jeanne D'arc took as a result. Direct Deposit: I wouldn't if I were you. I often don't have my deposits until a day or two after they are electronically transferred. More than once, the deposit has been credited to someone else's account. Also of note, direct deposits will not be available at midnight the day of. According to more than one cs agent, no one is available to process these deposits until after 7:30 am and then it depends on how much other work they have to do. What? Also, look out for FinanceWorks. It's somewhere on the website and you have to decline it. No, you don't sign up for it. They automatically enroll you and charge you 4.99 twice in two weeks. Unless of course you notice the disclaimer guiding you to decline. Awesome! As a result, of all of these fun things, my account has had numerous fees attached, numerous cs agents scrambling to ineffectively help, and numerous supervisors and managers apologizing. Today, they closed my membership account in error and informed me that they can't refund the money they took from THAT account. Why? Because the rep didn't know how. That's why. Note: I've been a patron of Jeanne d'Arc Credit Union since I was 3 (1991). JDCU only has branches in the Merrimack area of Massachusetts. I've been to every single JDCU branch (except for the one in Lowell High School because I did not go to LHS), with my parents as a child and continue to do so as an independent adult. I am still a patron of this bank although my permanent residence is in Connecticut. (** Two Stars) This branch (Downtown Lowell) is ALWAYS busy and bustling from the seams with people. It might even be the oldest JDCU branch... the other branches are much newer and modern-looking. It's best to do one's business quickly and get in/out just as fast. There are aaaaalways homeless people hanging around the front of the building as well. (** Two Stars) The Chelmsford branch is just as inept as the Lowell branch... plus the drive thru is completely unsafe and haphazardly placed. I've nearly gotten into so many accidents because stupid teenagers decide to speed 25+ miles (it's a friggin' bank drive thru!!!!!) in a small, barely-two-lanes-area-that-turns-into-one lane. (***** Five Stars) If you're willing to go across the bridge, I highly recommend the Dracut branch. It's highly superior in terms of cleanliness, modern amenities (there are k-cups members can use, you check in with an iPad if you need to talk to a branch manager, assistant manager, loan specialist, etc), and the employees and much more competent. The Dracut branch is the BEST of the branches, hands down. read more

I've had an account with them for quite some time- I have my personal account, my husband has is, and we have a joint account AS WELL as a personal loan with them! We have paid each month on that loan - in advance, as well as OVER 100$ more than what has been due each month. On March 6 I applied to refinance my car loan and switch from nissan corps to jeanne d'arc. Why? Because I like how I have everything set up- and I figured that with such great history on paying off our loan, we'd get a great deal! March 6th I applied for a car loan. The ONLY email I received from them, was a thank you for your application and a loan officer will be with you within 2 days. It gave me an option to check my status on a link.. which I did periodically. "Failed to load" prompt came up each and every time. Mark my words- March 31st- nearly an ENTIRE month went by and I finally get a phonecall from Melina- the first and only time I received a response from them since my application. I have been horrendously sick with a sinus infection. I was not able to get back to her until this week. In doing so, she strong armed me/manipulated me into setting up a new application. After a few questions and discussion, she asked if I was ready to fill out my auto refinance app with her. I advised her I already did this in early march- and was THEN advised I would need to do it again! THEN i find out I was actually approved, but that it wouldn't matter- I would still need to submit a NEW application- and get MORE credit hits. If this banks team was on top of it and knew how to deliver excellent customer service, by not waiting until the LAST day in the month to return a customer's message. I won't even get into my stress with APR's and limited credit options right now, because that's not the banks fault.. but what is the banks fault is not adhering to my time needs and getting to me in a timely fashion. I did close my account with Jeanne D'Arc but my current employer uses them to bank and I find myself there daily to make deposits. I use the downtown Lowell location. The tellers now seem upbeat and happy, they remember your name and treat you with respect. However the branch manager is totally opposite, one of the new tellers was confused by my transaction and I attempted to explain to her that I was cashing a payroll check. She look up said and quote "I got it" with her hand directed at my face. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. The teller looked at me embarrassed himself as she said nothing else to me but walk away. The second improvement star is for the tellers but for overall performance of this banks manager if there was a zero star that would be my rating. read more

I have been with JDCU for over ten years now and the worst I have ever had to deal with was trouble activating a debit card. I must add I moved to California 5 years ago, so I was concerned about not having a branch within three thousand miles. But one call to the office and they had the card up and working. I kept them when I moved to Cali out of convenience, my checks were deposited in this account and It was easier to keep them than transfer everything to my other account with USAA. I also have to admit I have never had any issues with this bank. I am commenting today mainly because of the poor rating this credit union has. I personally have never had any of the issues anyone on here has had. I have never had any of my direct deposit checks held for 3-4 days, they are available usually before a lot of my friends banks or credit unions release theirs. Switched from Citizens. I like the bank a lot! Jeanne D'arc supports the heck out of the community. They give lots of money to all kinds of local causes, and they are a non-profit, so they can benefit their membership more than a regular bank. So, its a double-awesome whammy! As far as services goes: On the plus side, they reimburse ATM fees for other ATMs, and they gave me a low-interest car loan. But, you should know: this branch gets busy. So, don't go during like noon on Friday or something. Go during off-peak hours and you'll be a happier camper. read more

I am updating my review for JDCU, as they have done noticeable work lately to improve their online experience. I've had a much easier time doing basic tasks through their self-service website than in prior years. Their ATM, however, remains absolutely horrible to visit. The lineup of cars is absurd, even on a Thurs. night at the downtown Lowell location. Tonight I was stuck in line at the drive-thru ATM for about 30 minutes, first getting angrily honked at by passing traffic as the line wrapped around the block, then hit up for cash by vagrants. Such an unpleasant drive-thru, and the only one that I'm aware of in the Lowell area. Why oh why can't JDCU (clearly a very popular bank) afford to put more ATMs around downtown Lowell?? read more

I joined the credit union 4 years ago, as I was accepted for a car loan. In summary, you receive poor service and an organization that does not care about the customer. On numerous occasions, the credit union would not account for the money that was debited out of my external bank account to pay my monthly payment and the blame was put on the customer for something that is out of the customer's control. Now that my loan is paid off, I have closed my account and have no intent to use the credit union again. I'd advise someone looking for any type of loan or bank account to stay away from Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union. read more

I have had an account with JDCU since high school in early 2000's. Back then I had no issues, I had/still have over draft protection, thing were good between me and the workers. I could ask a question and get an answer. But now, a word of caution. Now the over draft protection is bogus. They don't protect you every time there's a charge. They charge you $35 every time you get over drafted, even though they say you don't. So, when you dispute the draft they either ignore you or feed you excuses. I may change banks in the next year or so. It's ridiculous. Enter JDCU with caution and at your own risk!!! read more
