This was the BEST DARN CAKE EVER!!
    Brittany H.

This was the best darn cake EVER. THIS CAKE MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH. I return from my first visit from Halloween. I got the sock it to me cake with pecans on top. I literally want one of EACH. You will not be disappointed They offer classics like: 7 up cake Sock it to me And original offers: Vanilla Lemon pound

    Pineapple Upside Down
    Edina K.

I was at the mall with friends, and we stopped here for a quick dessert. The ladies at the booth were super inviting and had such great energy...especially Sasha!!! We tried the sample (I believe it was the pineapple upside down) and it was so yummy!! I ended up purchasing it so I could have the full experience and it did not disappoint!!! It was literally the perfect balance of cake, pineapple and overall sweetness. I didn't care for the little cherry in the middle, but it look cute lol. The cake was super moist, and Sasha explained they're all made fresh every single day which was really great to hear. Sadly I'm just in town for vacation but I'll be sure to buy a few cakes for my road trip back home. Also Sasha mentioned they deliver so that is also a great plus!! Great customer service and amazing cakes! What more can you ask for!

The chef and the barista are always around, helping and making sure the customer has the best experience. The seating is plentiful and very well proportioned. The first morning, a pretty big group of us walked in all at once, and I honestly expected a long wait. Instead, the two employees working absolutely crushed it. They got everyone's orders out surprisingly fast without sacrificing quality, and you could tell they were working incredibly hard. The pastry case alone is enough to make you stop in, everything looked fresh, beautiful, and homemade. I ordered the Texan Croissant both mornings because it was that good. It was easily one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The croissant was perfectly flaky, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the runny egg yolk took it over the top. I also grabbed a coffee the second day, and it was really good as well. My only critique is that both days we visited, there was a strong smell inside that reminded me of urine or maybe a mildew-type cleaning product. It wasn't enough to keep me from coming back (clearly, since I went two days in a row!), but it was definitely noticeable and something I hope they can figure out. Overall, the food was outstanding, the service was impressive, and I'll absolutely be back for another Texan Croissant if i'm ever in the area!

We also ordered a ube choux and two macarons (vanilla and pistachio). The ube choux was much better, the ube filling actually tastes like ube, which is pretty rare in ube-related food or drink. The choux, however, reminded me of pastry that has been sitting out for a while - kinda hard. The macarons were actually great. Flaky, soft, and the fillings were delicious. Sad that the quality has dropped so much.

However, we…read moredecided on Desseire as an Asian-flavored French techniqued bakery sounded like an excellent option. Its in a less trafficked area of Chinatown and sort of tucked away in a corner of the strip mall. It has a casual pick up and go vibe, with display cases of baked goods and a couple options on the counter (dont miss the caneles). The cashier (potentially also the baker) was friendly and was super patient with us as we were making decisions and then noticing a special and adding extra goods (sorry for making you box and unbox so many times!) Anyways, all the baked goods we got were reasonably priced around $3-4. They also have some larger tiramisu options but we didn't grab any this time. I got a canele, a variety of choux, and some cupcakes. I enjoyed the canele and it had a very nice crust but the center wasn't as custardy as some I've had but regardless I enjoyed it and I also rarely see caneles so it was a nice treat. The choux were the winners for me though, filled with various creams (I got mango, pandan, and pistachio). I really liked the choux pastry and found it light and crisp. The filling was also perfect, light, held its texture and didn't spill out as I was eating it, and perfect level of sweetness for me. I also enjoyed flavor of the cupcakes but I did think they were slightly dense. Overall, this was such a great find and glad we stopped by. It may end up becoming one of my staples to have pastries for the week!

So, what we decided to do was to place an order for the chocolate ganache tarts a couple of days later, but while we were here, we'd try their Amandine tart, Sachertorte, and an Eclaire. Wow, I just had a bite of each and....daaaang, they were so so soooo good! So satisfying, so decadent, so next level deliciousness! ... perhaps a little sweet, but not overly so... thoroughly enjoyed just the taste of each. A couple of days later when we finally got to try their chocolate ganache tarts... wow... again! So obviously freshly baked, such wonderful density, flavor, and bite... with a butter cookie textured shell..... absolute heaven, and so difficult to just limit oneself to just one bite, but I managed. I'm sure we'll be back here again during our next visit.

The bakery itself is simple and clean. Be respectful of the place and help clean up after yourself. Not one customer made a mess there. Everyone are respectful to the sweet owner. The drinks itself are simple, reasonably priced on the cheaper side. Not sweet at all so ask if you want it to be sweeten. Quality and perfect desserts. Just semi-sweet so if you have a crazy sweet tooth, this is not your bakery. Again, prices are extremely reasonable and I see lots of locals who enjoy coming here. Prices are actually on the lower side of what I see throughout Houston. Passionfruit tart was my favorite, if you need someone to tell you what to try.
