While it may seem small, at this age that kind of exclusion carries meaning, especially on a first day of her very first structured ballet class. I reached out to for clarification, and while I understand standing behind their staff, the owner's response felt more focused on defending the approach than acknowledging my concerns as a parent of a 3-year-old. She also didn't seem to understand that a sticker to a 3 year old signifies belonging/a sense of doing well, and can shape how a child views themselves in a new environment. I understand having structure, but this did not feel developmentally appropriate for such a young age or for my daughters first ever dance experience. A refund was offered, which I appreciate, but overall this was not the right fit for our family. I would strongly encourage other parents to clearly understand expectations and teaching approach beforehand. During our trial class, my daughter participated less and was still encouraged with a sticker, so the inconsistency here is both confusing and concerning. For a program working with very young children, that level of inconsistency and lack of professionalism in both practice and communication is disappointing.

She is 3 and this was her first class and the teacher acknowledged that my child listened most of the time. The sticker is not the problem, but when brought up to the director that this odd-man out behavior is not appropriate at this age, she was not empathetic and doubled-down that these are the expectations of this studio. This is not the black swan studio, it's an after school program for 3-year olds. I have pulled my child.

This past Saturday was the Halloween event at Santee lakes and this center had a vendor…read morethere, during the trunk or treat there were about 3 little girls giving out flyers and handing out candy to EVERY CHILD, smiling, laughing, talking, being friendly. As soon my son went up to them and said trick or treat they immediately ignored him, gave him and myself the dirtiest look & acted as if he was nonexistent!! Even myself included!! And I noticed it's because he wasn't white like all the others that were interacting with those girls handing out flyers. Before we went up to them it was white parents/kids & the energy was there, soon as myself & my son went up to them it was completely different, after we walked away I turned around & they went back to acting friendly to of course other white kids/parents. I was so upset and couldn't believe young girls at that age could be so rude to another child that is a different color than them. I wanted to confront the parents of those girls but it was so hectic and crowded. Very upsetting and shame on those children & parents as well!!

The studio is spotless and the the owners Nicole and Lauri are outstanding; they know your name, they acknowledge that you are there, they make you feel valued and they start and end the class on time. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE OWNERS ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT TEACHING CLASSES AND MAKING EVERYONE FEEL THEY ARE PART OF A HEALTH AND FITNESS COMMUNITY AND ZUMBA IS THEIR PASSION AND THEY ARE NOT DISTRACTED BY WORKING IN OTHER FIELDS. Nicole and Lauri teach many of the classes and they are fresh and ready to teach unlike some of the part-time instructors who work for other fitness and dance centers who drag themselves into the studio after performing work for another company . Nicole and Lauri are not like the part-time or burned out instructors who arrive late, end the session early and often don't seem to want to teach the class, rather they want to be home - and/or any place but teaching Zumba. The Move Fitness and Dance instructors never embarrass the students and, unlike some fitness and dance centers they never yell out corrections to students in front of the class. They are warm and welcoming, but the girls also receive solid instruction! Both of them have gained confidence, strength, flexibility, and become better in their technique. Because of this approach, my daughter who has had an intense medical diagnosing process over a number of years and had to step back from dancing for awhile felt good enough to add more classes again. The teachers foster a good sense of cooperation in the students. I can't recommend the studio highly enough.

I reached out and asked for a refund, Rachel responded and stated a refund would not be an issue, and that I needed to request the refund through the portal. which i did immediately.. However Nadia denied the refund. I explained to her what had happened and that Rachel had approved the refund. She just gave me one excuse after another... when i went into the portal after this conversation, i was unable to get in it suddenly wanted me to read a "Policy Agreement Required" this was not on my portal acct when i requested the refund. She is refusing to refund the money and wants me to force a 4 year old to take the class... How can I even trust the instructors, if the people who rund the business cannot keep there word!!

After just one month and multiple classes, I was able to quickly grasp the fundamentals and feel confident on the dance floor.
