Yes, that's dumb. We made an in home appointment with Sam who is friendly and respectful, wears shoe covers and a mask. He got right to work taking the works out and checking everything inside. Surprisingly the clock wasn't dirty but desperately needed oil. Delaying oiling it caused some minor wear on 2 gears. But he said it's not enough to need replacement or repair. I wouldn't have known the difference if he had said it did but he was honest. He oiled it, answered all my many questions as he worked and was done in 30 minutes. He asked if we would like to make an appointment for an oiling in 2 years! If you sign up for routine maintenance the price is discounted. And I need reminders! My friend had an appointment same day. Her clock needed some repairs but his estimate was way less than other clock repairs we've had done in the past. He is in great demand and has a few months wait for repairs to be completed but it'll be done right and with quality parts some of which he hand makes.

He makes house calls and got my family's nearly 100 year old grandfather clock running superbly. He patiently explained every step of the process - from replacing parts to why the malfunction occurred. Cannot recommend Sam highly enough! Very fair prices as well!

Compared to the other antique shops in the area, Main Street Classics has the best prices I've seen. The value is definitely there. I was looking for vintage vinyl in good condition and wasn't disappointed. They have a nice selection of antique furniture, decorations, and many other items. I'm also a numismatist and wish they had a larger selection of coins and precious metals, but that is a nitpick. I understand that their vendors may rotate periodically. My party was greeted warmly by the ladies at the front. They were helpful and made the checkout process quick and easy.

I tend to stick to the Victorian era and prefer the unusual. The photos of candles and 80s stuff don't do it justice. There are plenty of cabinet cards and tin types, large charcoal portraits and pictures in the $20-30 range. Cabinet cards were 6 for $10! I saw a few older dolls at only $50 each. Ended up with a fairly uncommon embalming fluid bottle of all things. There's a booth at the top of the stairs with the lowest prices I've seen in a while for true antiques. It was nicely curated and balanced. My only complaint - and I don't know if this is an issue in the area or what, was the intense security. I really don't like buying when I feel like the shop assumes I'm going to steal. I usually go through stores twice and found what I wanted at second glance. When we checked out a comment was made that they knew we had already seen everything and it made me feel like I was being watched and I felt like the man was looking to see what was in my hands. But who knows, maybe they had a theft issue. Overall a nice shop.

My fiance and I came to Chris' jeweler workshop in early August for the weekend wedding ring…read moreexperience. Chris had invited Eric, a kind friend of his, to help us with the process. They were both incredibly helpful and let us do the majority of the work! I had the tri-color ring, comprised of 3 separately-made rings of 14K yellow, rose, and white gold, while my fiancé chose a much simpler single 14K white gold band. My fiancé was to make a total of 3 rings before they cut them back open and connected them in such a way that they, quite literally, ROLLED over each other when gliding onto my finger. He had so much fun perfecting his skills and getting three tries to get comfortable with the whole process! With almost 2x the extra work, it was very efficient to have Chris helping him with the tri-color ring, while Eric helped me make the thick white gold band. I have been in absolute awe by the beauty, yet simplicity, of the tri-ring, along with the elegance and thickness of the white gold band. They are beautifully crafted and polished. It's amazing to think that we started with 4 bars of gold and ended with polished, shining rings in about 8 hours. Chris and Eric were both super supportive and encouraging; They had a lot of patience and allowed us to carry out steps for as long or little as we wanted, while coming in when guidance or direction was needed (or when our fingers got too tired). The atmosphere was great, very calm, comfortable, and fun. We joked a lot and engaged in conversation. We were treated to a nice lunch at a local deli across the street and overall, felt like the flow of everything was great. We are very happy with our rings, especially since we now have photos and memories of making them together. A big thank you to both Chris and Eric!

He's great fun to talk to and has had a lifetime of interesting experiences. Chris is an excellent teacher! My fiancee and I had zero experience working with open flames, torches, metals, and whatnot but felt very comfortable in Chris's workshop. He walked us through each step and made us feel completely comfortable with what was happening. Chris took the time to talk to us and understand what it was we wanted - and we ended up with exactly that. It's crazy. We made each others' rings, and I'll think about that fun day every time I put my ring on. Highly, highly recommend.
