I came to Napa River for a second opinion when Dr Underhill at Silverado was telling us we needed…read moreto put our dog down immediately because his platelets were so low he would die a painful death if we didn't do so. On the advice of a friend who is a vet in another state, I got a second opinion from Dr. Carroll. It turns out that the test done at Silverado was inaccurate and his platelets were fine. So thankful I sought a second opinion here and have since moved all vet care over to them for my very much still-alive dogs. Dr. Carroll is a wonderful and thorough vet who truly cares and goes out of his way to communicate well with you through any health challenges you may navigate.

But also, if the paperwork is required and you would turn people away for it not being filled out, WHY did you let me spend all this time filling it out in clinic just for you to decide we will be rescheduled, and then have the audacity to charge for an exam you didn't do? Also, again, if it's that important that you'll turn people away, why not send links to your multiple appointment reminders and clearly say that? Luckily, we immediately found another place with much nicer and not snobby people that costs almost $100 less, and they actually schedule in the time to fill out the paperwork in clinic. This place stole my money and they provided no service. Abhorrent place. Sooo many other options in the area, and if you need a health certificate for your pet, go to Animal Clinic of Benicia instead.

Before…read morescheduling and again when I arrived, I specifically explained that I needed the exam and certificate required for travel. I was quoted approximately $203 per cat by two different staff members. After the exams were completed, I was informed that the actual cost would be several hundred dollars more than what I had been told. My frustration was not with the price itself, but with the fact that I made my decision based on the information provided by the clinic. What disappointed me most was how the situation was handled. When I tried to explain that I had relied on the information given by their staff, I felt my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. The owner ultimately ended the discussion without offering any solution. The medical staff were professional, and I did receive the documents I needed. However, the communication regarding pricing and the way the issue was handled left me very disappointed.

I started calling them at 5:45 with a small emergency with my little Gigi. Nobody picked up the phone so I decided to drive down. . Two girls sitting at the front desk with not one person in the waiting room. So they ignored my phone calls number one. . Then I explained that Gigi might've pulled a nail out out of socket. There was blood everywhere and they basically told me that they couldn't see me because they close in four minutes and that the doctor was seeing his last patient and they don't take anybody after 6 o'clock and I got there at 5:55. They turned me and Gigi away without a care in the world. Maybe they should take their f-ing 'walk-in' welcome sign off the sidewalk. I am livid. Napa West Pet Hospital

I had my puppy spayed here in April. As a first-time pet owner whose family had only ever rescued…read moredogs before, I'd never had to deal with a pet getting spayed or neutered; it was always taken care of beforehand. We were very nervous before the surgery, and the quotes from other local vet's offices seemed overpriced. We got on Napa Humane's list and were originally scheduled for July, but they received a cancellation and got us in three months early. This wound up being a blessing because it gave me less time to worry about all the things that could go wrong during the surgery. On the day of the surgery, the receptionist was neither warm nor welcoming, which honestly added to the anxiety I was already feeling. However, the vet was fabulous- she was extremely knowledgeable about dogs in general, my dog's breed, and the many health issues they are prone to and did a wonderful job comforting my dog and me. I left her there feeling confident that the surgery would go swimmingly and that she was in good hands. She was, and it did! Something to note is that they don't provide post-surgical collars, so get one beforehand. We wound up getting a soft, inflatable one for Matilda, which was much easier to deal with than the traditional plastic cone. Napa Humane is committed to helping pet owners be responsible, and spaying and neutering are a big part of that. They offer an income-eligible program to residents of Napa, Lake, and Solano counties whose income level qualifies them for spaying or neutering at a significantly reduced cost. I really appreciate the fact that they do that, even though we did not qualify. I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking to get their pet spayed or neutered. They do a good job.
