We have been going to Silverado Veterinary Hospital for over 20 years. Their service is outstanding! The entire team at SVH is super friendly, helpful, patient, professional and knowledgeable. We took our 1 year old Blue Heeler, Raider Jr, to get his annual physical and vaccinations last week. He is not a fan of the vet and was very timid. Dr Campbell and her assistant worked with him to settle him down and give him the exam. They were extremely patient and gentle with him. He relaxed and all was good! Many thanks to both! Best clinic I've ever visited--human or animal. As a doctor, I'm blown away by their efficiency; they return calls in seconds while my own physician takes months. I love this vets office but for the love of God I am so tired or making appointments and still having to wait at least 30 minutes past the appointment time - today I waited 45 minutes and then was told the vet I had scheduled with had to take an emergency so I left as I wasn't going to wait 1.5 hours past the appointment. I appreciate that they take urgent/emergent walk ins but maybe schedule a vet specifically for that so the vets with scheduled appointments aren't constantly running behind. read more

First off sad day yesterday took my dog to get a cyst removed for possible cancer and after her surgery they had put my dog on a heating pad since she was a small dog but then come to find out that they had it on way too hot and gave her really bad burns and she was still under anesthesia at the time so when it wore off she was in major pain and sadly had to get her put down because the surgery did nothing and the cancer came back aggressive so wasnt really their fault but leaving my dog with 2nd degree burns while she was already suffering wouldnt bring your pet here at all they dont pay enough attention to your pets well being read more

My son's dog is in great pain and is presently being seen by Silverado Veterinary Hospital. I called at 11AM to have a previously prescribed pain medication prescribed again since my son is out of state. 3 hours later I called back at 2PM to see if the medication has since been prescribed. The receptionist told me the doctors only do prescriptions after ALL the appointments have been seen, that means they wait until late in the afternoon to consider emergency meds. Also, the receptionist said that it "usually takes 24 to 48 hours for emergency meds to be prescribed". Ridiculous! read more

WOW.... I LOVE THIS VETERINARY CLINIC! Being new to the Napa community, I tried a few vets in the past two years, and was not happy with either of them. I am so happy to have finally found Silverado Vet Hospital, close to our home, and so very easy to work with. Today, we had our first wellness visit for my 17-pound Maine Coon kitty. Everything went smoothly, they were ON TIME for the visit, sweet with my cat, who was stressed. They helped answer questions, and they were half as expensive as the other clinics I went to. Because my cat was stressed, I left without getting my Rx and flea meds, but later, through a phone call, I was directed to their excellent website for ordering flea meds or other RX. Miss Kitty had a growing lump near her tail, so we knew she had to be seen by a vet. Thankfully Silverado was able to squeeze her into the next day's schedule. By then, we could see a small wound that was starting to develop a foul smell. Likely an abscess. We arrived a few minutes ahead of schedule and I told the receptionist how Miss Kitty hated to be in her carrier, so she kindly said she'd find us a room. Less than a minute later Alegra came to greet us, escorted us to a room, and took Miss Kitty's vitals. Miss Kitty calmed down as she freely explored the room, and Alegra could not have been any sweeter. A few minutes later Dr. Underhill came in. She was just as engaging and knowledgeable as Dr. Flowers (who we had seen last time). She confirmed it was an abscess and explained they'd clean it out and give Miss Kitty a shot of antibiotics. Alegra wrapped Miss Kitty in a towel, took her across the hall, and less than 5 minutes later they were back and she was all done. Such a relief! Thank you so much, Dr. Underhill and Alegra. Miss Kitty is back to her usual self and we are glad to have Silverado nearby. read more

Doctor Hess killed my Rottweiler because of his greed of money. Do not trust him with you pet Dr Hess wanted one last grasp of making a big payday at the expense of my beloved 11 year old family member "Buster". Not many more chances to do so with an 11year old dog I trusted Dr. Hess. It never ever crossed my mind that his love and greed for money would cost my heathy dog his life because of it. I loved Buster. I got him when he was just 12 weeks old. The kindest dog I ever owned. A 120lbs teddy bear who trusted me with his everything. A family member and when he died I mourned like anyone would for the lost of their mom or dad or brother or sister. Buster was Family. What compounded my pain was that I trusted Dr Hess and I foolheartly trusted anything that he told me. He was the Doctor. Thinking naturally that he would have his professional code of ethics guiding him but they were jeopardized by his greed of money. I brought Buster in to see Dr Hess for a checkup. Buster was fine, happy, healthy, it was just a routine check up. Buster was aging and had a little arthritis as all dogs do his age. He would occasionally drag his rear paw as he ran. Dr Hess suggested we do a Myelogram. I didn't know what it was, I just trusted Dr Hess. Its a horrible evasive procedure where they insert a needle into the dog's spinal cord so they can read it. Read what Dr Hess? What were you going to do? Preform a spinal cord surgery on my perfectly happy healthy Buster. Of course not. As you didn't. You just wanted your share of the thousands of dollars that myelogram procedure cost. I went to pick up buster after the procedure and he had no movement in both of his hind legs ever again. Doctor Hess sent me home with a bunch of different antibiotics. I walked buster in and I had to carrying him out of Silverado ver hospital. Buster never walked again I had him to sleep. While at the hospital Dr Hess in between ignoring me and attempting to impress his young female intern. He showed no empathy towards me and my new plight which he caused. Buster was just another dog to him. The hurt and pain and my guilt for allowing this to happen has never left me years later. Shame on you Dr Hess. You probably are a man of science so you don't believe in a higher power I can promise you, what you did to my heart for trusting you wholeheartedly and what you did to a healthy happy Buster. You will have to answer for to your God if you have one. Waves like this don't go unnoticed in the universe. After all these years I still am heartbroken. And for what? Money. Vet Tech Jenn and Dr. Michelle provided an unforgettable experience taking my cat Lucy into their hospital yesterday and hitting every note of care. I came in for a second opinion regarding, what I learned from Dr. Michelle, is an extremely rare genetic condition for cats. Vet Tech Jenn came to my personal rescue as I wasn't feeling well and she brought a few things to cure my stomach pain. My logic after getting a second opinion was to obtain pet insurance and upon sharing my next step, both assured me that pet insurance companies would not cover anything as Lucy's condition is now recorded and would be considered pre-existing. That was valuable information. Next week Lucy will undergo surgery at SVH and I'm sure she will be in the best hands. Over the past 2 years, my senior shih tzu Meesha has been a patient at Silverado Veterinary Hospital. We've had the pleasure meeting many of their outstanding veterinarians - all have delivered top notch care with excellent bedside manor. This post however is a special shout out to Dr. Julia Campbell for going above and beyond to deliver next level, over the top care!! Long story short, I'm traveling to London and will be there for an extended amount of time. Meesha is a big part of my life, as I am to hers so when another veterinarian shared with me they have an in-house doctor travel expert, I was all ears. Right from the start Dr. Campbell made an EXTREMELY difficult process full of may hoops seem easy. She gave clear directions of the precise steps needed to complete Meesha's UK pet passport, outlined exact timelines and went as far as taking on the responsibility of going to UPS to ensure once the USDA issued our certificate it would be expedited directly to our hotel in Boston. I cannot even imagine how big of a nightmare this process would have been of it wasn't for Dr. Campbell - she's a phenomenal doctor, an amazing woman and when you meet her you can feel she genuinely cares deeply for her patients and loves what she does! I'm not so sure about them over the years they have changed some I use to really trust them with my pets care but I can't say I feel the same way as much anymore at time they have recommended test that weren't needed maybe to boast the bill more. You know when your baby is sick I'd do anything to help them, I've felt that at times like that they can see your distress and take advantage of that. I can't say all of the doctor's who work there do that but I know one who I encountered seem to do that. I believe she no longer works there. I was so glad they could fit me in on such short notice for my cat to receive COLD THERAPY for his arthritic lower back that flared up. After waiting a few hours (had to be fit in when they had time), Vet RENEE MICHELL said she could do an exam and l let her know to be gentle with his tail area (he has severe arthritic changes in his Manx tail region and I didn't want it to cause him pain). So she instead insisted that he needs to be updated on his Rabies vaccine as required by Ca. law before she handles him. I told her he never bites and I rather not do that or the exam but to simply rest the cold laser therapy pad over his back which doesn't require any handling of pets. She then insisted that she would need to x-rays and maybe blood work to diagnose the issue. Ok.. so I handed her all his xray reports that were done recently and over the years from a different vet- I already knew what was wrong. She said that the paperwork wasn't within 6 months! He needed cold laser therapy applied to his back, that's all. It's not a procedure!!! RENEE is not an honest vet. Napa Humane told me that cats are NOT required by CA law ( not Hawaii law) to have a rabies vaccine but it can be up to certain vets so that's fine but all the requirements she was asking just for a non handling treatment is uncalled for. I went to Pet light in Cupertino for heat light therapy with no prerequisites and he is fine and was never handled by them. The other vets might be good here but steer clear of Renee Michell who is money hungry. read more

Have always brought my animals here. Dr. Flower is amazing and very knowledgeable. Lately haven't seen her in the hospital.. I brought my jack Russell terrier mix in because of a fox tail problem with one of his paws. After $100 vet visit later they claimed there was no fox tail and he would be okay after a weeks worth of antibiotics. A day later my husband was inspecting our dog because he was still having problems (limping and pain) and managed to get a fox tail out of the blistery looking spot. Thankfully our dog got better almost immediately and was able to walk on his paw. A couple weeks go by and my mother in law brought her dog in because of a potential fox tail, and again Silverado vet told us that there was no fox tail and sent us off with antibiotics and a $200 vet bill. Upon bringing the dog to a different vet, we were told my mother in laws dog had 1 foxtail still in her nose and 2 in one of her ears! SO thankful we didn't just take this hospitals advise. Just because they have a decent reputation in Napa doesn't mean they are the best of service... we have came to this hospital for years with numerous animals (3 cats, 3 dogs) and are blown away by what has happened! read more

I brought my pug to SVH in January to have her evaluated for BOAS (an airway syndrome that affects brachycephalic breeds). Her vet, Dr. Michell, was extremely kind and knowledgeable. She recommended surgery to correct the anatomical issues that partially obstructed my dog's airway, which was performed by Dr. Hess. I was very happy with the care my dog received and I was so grateful for Dr. Hess and his team's willingness to answer my questions before the surgery and provide me with updates while she was at the hospital post-op. The surgery itself was brief and the recovery was very quick. I was amazed by how quickly my dog bounced back from the surgery. Within 24 hours, she was back to her normal self (I had to stop her from playing and running around). I encourage all brachycephalic breed owners to have their dog evaluated for BOAS. This surgery improved my dog's QOL and allows her to breathe easier on a daily basis, even though she was only mildly affected by BOAS prior to surgery. The worst, make you wait super long I don't even know why I keep bringing injured animals to this place by the looks of this place you would expect a lot more, maybe it's different for people who bring their animals here but I live up the hill and My cats sometimes catch birds that I have to bring down and I found myself waiting outside for a really long time with numerous texts coming in and out to service other cars it's just really confusing and really frustrating they don't even actually treat the birds are injured animals here they wait for wildlife to pick them up and they ask you for all your information but can't even update you on the progress of the animal I wish I could take the animals directly to wildlife myself instead of having to deal with Silverado read more

Today's date 10/02/2021 I expect this will not be dismissed into the Yelp Unacceptable review status a second time but remain part of the overall star report of denial of service that was not best for the pet. The first time yesterday it was moved to the unacceptable star list. Real leaders don't edit out report on Yelp that is data based do they? Please accept my report showing Silverado Vet recommendation and withholding access to health and safety for my Springer could happen to others as is already reported on your website. Did Doctor Hess pay to have my report put in the corner out sight? What made you do that? Mark Real leaders inspire results we can trust. A foundation of trust required me to ask and failed to reach for second opinion to explain what made Dr. Campbell at her physical exam, July 15th, 10 am. for my Springer Spaniel to verbally tell me my 6 year old Springer Spaniel had a fractured upper left molar but dangerously omitting the cause of the 1/4 inch hanging pink gum over the molar. She would not answer my urgent request to clarify and trust the need for surgery on the gum growth or tumor replying: "Let's wait a year. There will be calcification under the gum. We provide decalcification." My phone calls to Wendy the business coordinator asking for an after visit summary (AVS) I had had asked for in two previous calls, resulted in an "email form Dr. Campbell that again omitted the following: (1) What is best for the Spaniel with a hanging left molar gum? (2) Ways her recommendation consistent with analysis that is consistent with gum biopsy data would HELP save my dog and provide me with peace of mind ? (3) What was her character-based purpose for her intentional physical exam omission choosing not to "verify and trust" that the mystery gum growth was not: "epulis gum growth, not an oral tumor like sarcoma, not gingival Hyperplasia" for example and more... Deeply ignored and very conconcerned and persistent to keep my committment to care for my Spaniel, I asked a Silverado phone front receptionist who to go to when I was ignored continually. She recommended that I leave a telephone voicemail for Dr. Campbell at extension #3,500, main number: S.V.: 224-7953, requesting delayed answers to my medical questions directly from Dr. Campbell. I failed. I found her voice mailbox was full day and night for these dates: 9-08-2021 - 9-19-2021. The other doctors I called to check availability at: #2800, 3000,#3600, Dr. Hess at #3700 whose message said "he was taking referrals" but no calls, were emptying their voice mail boxes however. In high frustration, I spoke with Wendy at Silverado and told her that Dr. Campbell's email did not provide answers to my medical questions to help me assess the gum growth cited here. She recommended that I make an appointment with Dr. Hess for answers that I could trust on September 27th. 10 am. at Silverado Vet. Here are the results from Dr.Hess when I was looking for a real leader who inspires results you and I could trust: Dr. Hess came into the room where I sat with my Spaniel at 10:30 am. Dr. Hess said, "Mr. F., I do not want you to come to Silverado Vet anymore." I replied: "Dr. Hess, what makes you say that?" Dr. Hess replied, "You don't trust your vet." I replied: "I believe you would do what is best for the pet if you could. If it not a win for you to help me better understand how to keep my pet healthy I can accept that and not return." At this time the Silverado Veterinary Hospital states: "We are not taking new customers." I have provided my recommendation consistent with analysis consistent with data that reveals that Dr.Hess does not provide a consistent culture of accountability and did not when he and Dr. Campbell offered me omissions but not better understandings to keep my 6 year old pet Spaniel healthy. They were alittle out if my way I had to find a vet to bring my frog to. Very different in covid times however it was nice once you get there you text them let them know you are there and they come out to get your pet. Once established the vet calls and let's yiu know what is going on and what should be done, they then bring your pet out to your vehicle and then collect payment and your on way. The only criticism I have is when the lady asked for payment I had to ask her how much it would be first so I at least knew what I was paying. I do miss the interaction and get my one on one questions or concerns heard. I know its hard with these times read more
