Instead you play against every team and have teams of experienced players playing against teams of kids that have never played. The scores ended up most days atleast 30 points to 0. It really discouraged my kids away from basketball all together. Also, the taller female coach came in smelling like weed most days and we don't really want our kids around that. I think we would have tried the program again if they mixed up the teams better or separated the skill levels. We stopped going to the games and just went to practice by still felt like a waste of money.

Team bonding is also a big one for Coach Dre, last season we went to a local food bank as a team & gave back to our community. It was great a great experience. Not only is this a wonderful place to train, the gym is fully equipped with a banquet room in the back portion of the facility so you're able to rent out the whole gym & throw a party! There's a full fridge, sink, 4 big tables & about 20 chairs. There's also an area where I was able to put a balloon arch for photos & a couch and more tables, so it can accommodate a big party. There's a speaker system that you can connect to & play your play list while the kids play basketball. I appreciate the nice clean restroom for my guests. I recently just rented the facility & threw my son his 12th birthday: 3 point shooting contest, 3 on 3, Knock Out, food, cake, and lots of laughs!! He had the best time ballin' with his friends. I've had the pleasure and benefit of training with Joe for over three years for sessions 2x per…read moreweek for about an hour each. We met when he was a trainer at a local gym, but during the pandemic, I followed him to his newer, private location where training is one on one. I've lost about 60# over this time period, and Joe's consistent training and thoughtful support has made the difference! As a mature woman, it's so important to train with someone who will adapt and support my existing mobility, and at the same time know when to push me into greater strength and flexibility. I've felt challenged, but never to the point of feeling like I'm beating up my body. I attribute this to Joe's undergrad education that focused on physical development that he is thoughtful to apply and adapt to my progress. When we first started, I could barely do squats, but in my training today I might've done 100! But that was a process and in the beginning, Joe was able to do adaptations and continually coach me on form that enabled me to feel much more confident and successful. This is just one of many more examples of where I've been able to do/lift more and be more flexible than ever. Joe also helps keep me accountable through the apps we share so that he can support my activity as well as my nutrition. Once you determine a goal with Joe, he will put together a solid plan for you that really feels attainable with meal tips, as well as workout homework that you can do if you go to a gym on your own or if you travel. I also appreciate at the end of our session, we reserve about 10 minutes for boxing cardio! Just remember to bring your own gloves! I really appreciate how mindful he is with curating an individual and personalized program - one thing he emphasizes that holds a lot of value for me is the idea of fitting fitness and nutrition into our lifestyle, not modifying our lifestyle for fitness, which was something I did a lot in the past and experienced a lot of yo-yo dieting. I'm doing his online training which is great because he structures it enough to provide me guidance and accountability, while leaving me a lot of room for autonomy. I used to think online PT was not for me and he truly changed my perspective because he finds a way to cater the program to my lifestyle which does not feel like an extreme change at all. I also appreciate how he keeps my values in mind, especially with nutrition - I find it helpful when he offers me choices on ways to promote a healthy relationship with food and nutrition. In the past, I've been taught to restrict and not have certain food while Joe encourages me to add items, not restrict. He identified key characteristics of all third places. "They are on neutral ground and promote social equity by leveling the status of guests. Conversation is the main activity and the mood is playful. Strangers are welcome, and there are regulars who feel a piece of themselves is rooted in the space. They enjoy the same feelings of warmth, possession, and belonging as they would in their own homes." I know this is seriously corny, but William Kim's Tae Kwon Do Center is the best Third Place for families. You truly feel a sense of community when you are there. All the instructors are so good with the kids. I have personally seen how beneficial Tae Kwon Do is through my own 9-year old (who started in 2023 at 7). He has blossomed due in large part to Tae Kwon Do. Because I attend almost all of my son's classes, I've also witnessed so many other students excel. These kids learn discipline, respect, perseverance and many more valuable social and emotional skills. And even though the students are training hard during class, the classes are actually really fun! Even for parents just sitting and watching. In addition to being a great place for your kids, as a parent, you might find yourself connecting with other local parents who may even become close friends and trusted associates. Families have been sending their kids to William Kim's TKD for decades and for good reason. The center has deep roots in the Vallejo community. Third places like William Kim's are successful because of the people who volunteer and work there--especially the Kim family--who are committed to improving each students well being through the discipline of the art of Tae Kwon Do. Families continue to flock here because they can see and feel this commitment. Also there are not many places you can go to like this, where you see different generations, from gen alpha to millennial, gen x and beyond, socializing well and getting along with one another. Sidenote: My husband had been wanting our son to start Tae Kwon Do for years, since he participated in several martial arts when he was younger. He did extensive research before deciding where to start. He picked William Kim's because of Grandmaster Kim's excellent reputation (Grandmaster is a 9th Don!) And, even though we live further away in Cordelia, we believe the quality of William Kim's is definitely worth the drive to Vallejo.
