Jctc is the worst college most of the teachers are complete assholes. I had a grown woman argue with me for 2 weeks about me using ai and she told the head of her department that she told me I was able to redo an assignment and literally never told me that. This is a really great place to begin college at a low price ! There is a wide range of knowledgeable instructors, and helpful programs. JCTC is very open to feedback, and they invest a lot into improving the school. The only con is that it's in a bad neighborhood. read more

Pretty grand and imposing Community College right in the heart of Louisville which overlooks the YMCA where I work out, so I always end up stopping in here or meeting people from here or even working out with people from here for one reason or another. It takes up most of the parking around here but that's okay. It's a nice old building and if I was going to go to Community College I'd like to come to a place like this for sure. It actually legit deadass looks like a university which is why it's so cool and it's right in the heart of everything in this small city. read more

Let me start off by saying the general admissions staff and advisors were lovely! The issue I encountered was the nursing program. I researched meticulously various schools and decided on jctc because they are affordable and seem to have a decent reputation and the location is convenient. That being said reaching anyone in the nursing program admissions office is a nightmare. I was hung up on because I asked for a link to the ADN application after attending 3 of the pre admissions conferences as required and the instructor failed to show up on 3 separate dates. I had to pay for a babysitter to downtown figure out parking and each time myself and 15 other students sat there for close to an hour waiting on someone to show. On the third time we contacted the instructor she forgot about the conference and emailed us a video version along with the link to the application that they will only give out once you have attended the conference. I was given the wrong link to apply. I called the admissions office and asked to get this corrected they informed me I would have to attend another because it was 4 months since my last conference and I have to attend another hour of hell with the exact same info to receive the link. This is unacceptable any other school will happily take your money and help you apply. It is challenging enough to pay for your education, schedule time to study and pursue your degree the easiest part should be applying. I've got a great gpa did everything required to get accepted and still can't apply because they refuse to send a link due to an instructors error. I would advise anyone looking into the nursing program to run to Galen or any literally any other school. You will not get help or support. It's near impossible to get full answers from nursing advisors. And you will be ready to pull your hair out just trying to jump through the hoops to simply submit your application to then pay thousands of dollars to learn. Do yourself a favor and go to any other school with staff that cares. They will not help they will not admit when they made a mistake or try to get you assistance you will be frustrated and spend time money and effort to attend this program only to get treated like garbage when you ask for assistance in getting information. read more

I'm currently attending the RN program at the downtown campus. This review is going to focus on the facilities and administrative side of JCTC. I attend in the Health Sciences Hall and have also taken a course in Hartford Hall. The HSH is really nice and up to date. The bathrooms are always kept up well. There's a big study area/cafe in the basement with tvs. It's nice during breaks, but I typically go eat in the nursing room so I can study in peace. Hartford is kind of dated, but it's always clean. On the first floor is the security hub of the campus and they're super nice. I took a night class and they were always willing to walk you to your car if you wanted. As far as the administrative side... it's always a pain to go in and deal with anything. I take care of most of my stuff in the online self service center. Anything to avoid dealing with them in person. The waits are long and inevitable. Overall, I like my program and the school is nice. read more

The professors I dealt with were first rate, and really cared about helping students succeed, and the it's fairly inexpensive with a PELL grant. For these reasons, I would recommend. The administration experience will try your patience to the breaking point, however, so if you go, be prepared to wait in the wrong lines often, because you were misdirected from another department. Frequently, the staff is rude and unhelpful-- generally a symptom of mismanagement and low pay. The corporate culture needs to change. read more

Be prepared for them to screw you over. The staff is unaware of what they're doing. I was in the ULTRA program and was going to a counselor before each semester to sign up for the nursing prerequisites I needed in order to transfer to Louisville. I had been enrolled in the fall 2018 semester since before summer had started at JCTC. I had enrolled with a counselor and everything to make sure all I needed to do was getting done. In late June, I had gone up to the ULTRA building to switch around one of my classes, and they had told me I was not going to be able to attend JCTC anymore under financial aid. Which they had failed to tell me the initial time I went in there to schedule classes. I had to hurry and apply to U of L within a very short time frame in order to make it in before the deadlines. Since I did transfer so late, I was not able to get into the classes I needed to because they were full. I now am going to have to wait 6 months until spring semester to take the class I need, which is a prerequisite for the nursing classes, and will not be able to take the nursing classes until the next 6 months. They've costed me a whole year in tuition and have wasted my time. I had initially gone to JCTC to save money, but in the end I am losing money. I would advise that if you are looking to do the 2 year program then transfer to talk to a U of L advisor on your own because the school will only end up fucking you and not giving you the information you need to succeed and make things harder on you to progress. Want to go to a ghetto downtown college? Look no further youve come to the right place. If you want to learn science and math, well, this is not the place to learn it. This community college teaches nursing and a few technical skills aside from being a recruiting tool for the University of Louisville transfer program. I had to literally leave Louisville to find a community college that was worth the effort. I was wasting my time with professors who didnt care, barely spoke english, and couldnt convey the knowledge of the subject they taught. The college counslers will push the university of Louisville as the place to work toward getting into, even if your intent is to go to another university. I found the college counslers literally unhelpful; do your own reaserch. Go to this college to get out of the ghetto but dont expect miracles. read more

In one advisor session, I learned more than OCTC every told me. Very informative as to classes I was ready to take and ones I was not. Educational Bankruptcy was explained even though, no thanks to OCTC, it is too late for me to exercise this option. Cannot wait to start classes and enjoy the variety of services offered!! read more
