I was impressed with their many award-winning students, and their teachers who were 100% committed and invested into the school. My girls were 5&3 when they joined and hardly missed a week. This school is all about quality, integrity and is absolutely authentic in its practice and teaching. The teachers for the young students are excellent-- as they also teach the advanced students. That says a lot of what they want to instill in the beginning technique. It is a family run school, but from what I saw, the teachers all belong to Helena's family, as well. There are moms who once attended Helena Hosch when they were young-- that also speaks volumes. This organization is not about collecting money. Each child is treated with special attention-- and are taught about discipline and confidence, artistry and responsibility. I wish we didn't have to move away, but military duty calls. Our family is so grateful for our time at Helena Hosch.

They have a decent selection of shows that highlight local talent. In December I saw a local interpretation of It's a Wonder Life, entitled It's a Wonderful Life, Y'all and resets the action to New Orleans with many local nods and jokes. The production creativity was great. The whole show was put on by 5 actors which was amazing. And the sets and props were standouts. The main theater holds over 300 seats and the Lagniappe theater is smaller. The night I was there, the theater was packed but still comfortable and the theater is fully accessible for those using wheelchairs. There was also a concession stand selling snacks and mulled wine. Definitely a fun spot to spend an evening.

The venue is intimate (no bad seats) and comfortable (cup holders for your drinks at your seat!). The staff is friendly and helpful. Single tickets are a bit pricey, but season tickets offer a significant discount and you get a discount on any additional tickets you purchase. Arrive early if you want to get a drink. There's no dedicated bar, and you have to wait in line at the bar in the adjoining restaurant.

The show was fun and elegant. If you're able to, it's not a bad idea to pay the $25 for the ticket to reserve a table, but if they are all already reserved - just coming to the bar to enjoy the show is perfectly fine too (and easier in some ways since you can leave at your leisure). In fact, parking in the Target structure works best. The theater is located on the 2nd floor of the WTIX building, where the driving school is co-located. The furnishings of the theater are reasonably nice but could be updated, especially the floors, furniture and restrooms. The theater is small enough to make it feel quite personal, but large enough that you don't feel that guests are smushed in. I like this venue and appreciate having "Arts" in Metairie as well. Kudos to the Actor's Theatre of New Orleans for putting this together in a seemingly limited space.

This group travels around to different bars and puts on different burlesque performance in the back room of dive bars. Well worth the $10. This one is not safe for kids. FYI They did different cosplays and interacted well with the audience. You can even by raffle tickets to win your chance to get dragged on to the stage! My buddy won and it was hilarious! All in good fun. FYI the show was kind of short, but I am sure with continued success they will start making it longer. Definitely check out this act!

I've been to some of the best burlesque and drag shows in the country. I've seen gravity defying,…read moresultry, sophisticated shows in New York. While this is not that . . . it's perfect for New Orleans and the south and has it's own flavor. I loved the show here! Madame Kennedy was the perfect emcee (and also put on a wicked black light bubble show). Some acts were sexy and seductive. Some acts were acrobatic and martial arts based, as Madame Kennedy said, "I'm sure someone is missing their anime character somewhere." There were hula hoops, feathers, and grinders! One act was a woman who put a grinder against a metal plate on her belt and sparks flew everywhere! I also saw my first (as far as I can remember) burlesque by a transgender man. It was so much fun! We did the reserved tickets, so we got a table right up front. There isn't a bad seat in the house, but I really prefer being in the center of the action. Doors open at 6:30 for a 7 PM show, but ours was running late (we didn't mind). They have a basic bar with decent prices. They also do dance classes, varying show themes, comedy routines, and more. So you'll always be able to see something different.

This place has so much potential, but the entire experience was made horrible by one person, the sound technician and building maintenance guy, Eric. He said he would be responsible for having the A/C on early to cool the building down--he did not because it was terribly hot in there. The microphones that he controlled were constantly having problems. The lighting that he controlled was horrible. He would not honor the contract and open the door timely to allow caterers access. And to top it all off, he talked down to everyone with his condescending attitude.
