Honestly, just skip it. I was in the area for an event with friends and decided to walk around, but this mall is "blah" and completely dead. There is almost nothing left here. Although they're trying, this mall is on life support. It's literally been decades since I've been here and it's sad to see the decline of what it once was. While cosmetically the mall still looks good, you could tell by some of the emptiness, closed stores during busy business hours, and lack of crowds (this was a Saturday I went). With two floors, there are still a few anchor stores that I'm sure do help keep things open and there is a decent variety of shopping options. You have your basic mall fixtures such as Hot Topic and Spencer's and you have Macy's, Dicks, and several clothing options. There are also two gyms. The mall is a little smaller than some area malls, but as mentioned, it cosmetically looks good. They're trying - and I do hope they succeed - in resuscitating this mall to at least closer to how it used to be. Several stores were closed (gates down, but stores looked ready for business) and I'm unsure why. There was a sizable Spirit Halloween open, but that will be closed right after the holiday. The food court lacked options, though there are other eateries spread throughout the mall. Parking is plentiful, so unless it's the holidays, you should have no issues finding a spot. I'm sentimental regarding this mall and hope for the best. A typical mall goer might be fine, but there are those who'd probably be disappointed coming here. It's a good mall for the immediate area, but with a little drive there are other options. read more

Ok. So I am going to be blunt! WE NEED TO BRING BACK MALLS!!!! With that said, I was at the JV mall and was absolutely blown away by how clean and welcoming it was! The place was spotless and the bathrooms and back hallways immaculate! Yes it was a little bumming some of the closed store fronts but in general they still have some cool stores, Macy's is still there as well as Dicks. The people were all cheery and friendly, got some great discounts on shoes!!! Food court was ok. Coffee place on first floor is always a treat!! It was an overall pleasant experience and one I had missed for a long time!!! We need to start getting out again and socializing in public and doing interaction with other "Live" humans. Direct contact is OK!!! So get out there peeps and shop in person!! It's fun!!! read more

The JVM is in good condition, with it looking fully renovated and modernized, but the lack of stores here is a bummer. It's been a long while since I've returned, with research and observing, Sears closing was a big blow along with other big brand stores such as Hollister, FYE, GameStop (surprising), etc. A recent addition to the mall was the opening of Dick's Sporting Goods (2016), Orange theory Fitness (2018), 24 hour Fitness (2020), and a restaurant called Flame Asian Bistro (2020). In the food court, there are only TWO spaces open - hard to believe. I didn't see any opening for other food spaces. Despite it being a weekday, this mall could soon become a deadmall. If anyone is a mall walker or enjoys the history (like me), it's a great way of killing time and remembering old stores. One thing I really enjoyed was seeing old pictures of the JVM hung on the wall along with quotes from resistant's to visited, mainly Yorktown. What a great idea JVM did. If South Hills stepped in the same boat, I'd be very impressed and other malls should step in with this idea. read more

I absolutely love the Jefferson Valley mall, it has been a staple in my town for ages and i have been going there since i was a kid. It is a very kind and welcoming place, stores are always very well stocked and have great selections and prices. Personally my favorites have always been H&M, Dicks, and macy's. Store workers are always kind and respectful and ready to help. And had never had any poor experiences until recently. Unfortunately, on a recent visit to the mall my friend, her boyfriend, and i were shopping for prom. We had already purchased our dresses, shopped around for shoes, and now all there was left was to get jewelry. We came across a little boutique-like store on the first level called "Magi's fashion" so we went in and while my friend went to go try on some of their dresses and other clothing items i was browsing the jewelry. After about 5 minutes one of the two people who worked there approached me with a little white bin to place the jewelry in so i wouldn't have to just hold it, i took this as a very sweet gesture and it honestly made me smile that they had little things like this to help out their customers. Another probably 5-10 ish minutes later i had about three items in the little bin and i had decided i didnt want to purchase anything so i put the jewelry back on the hanger-thingys and placed the bin back onto the register counter and my friends and i left. (IMPORTANT TO NOTE MY FRIEND HAD PICKED UP MAYBE TWO PEICES OF JEWELRY TO LOOK AT, AND PLACED THEM BACK ON THE RACKS AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS OF LOOKING AT THEM!!) We exited the store and got maybe about 8 feet out when the woman who handed me the bin comes and asks us for come back inside, i was confused as to why but i thought maybe we had left something so i went back in followed by my friends. When back inside the woman began asking me where her jewelry was, so i pointed out on the hangers where i had placed the jewelry that was in the bin back onto their respective places. She then began to argue that they had seen me on the camera stealing something so i pointed it out again, she says "no" and asks me to point it out again. She then remarks how she saw me put it in my pocket, i was wearing pocket-less shorts and a t-shirt so it wasnt possible i could have. She then asks me to point out once again where i had left the jewelry so i showed her again. She i guess was not getting the response she wanted put of me and turned her anger towards my friend (for context wearing a low-cut shirt and i think jeans..?) and began asking her where she put the jewelry and said they had her on camera too. My friend remarked that she never had truly picked up any jewelry to buy and only looked at a few and out them right back after. The woman then asks her to pull down her shirt (again, already very low cut) my friend obviously disagrees but the woman began to continue and i guess my friend having enough at this point obliged and pulls it down just enough to see her bra, she tells the lady she has nothing and right before the lady could continue i remarked how if this was an issue lets call security to make sure, because i knew we had done nothing wrong. The lady quickly back up and then just asks us to not come back and to leave which we happily did. It makes me sad to have a poor experience at this store but that does not reflect the mall itself, it is a wonderful place that has overall always been a favorite of mine, i still frequent there often but it is honestly sad how stores like these are able to get away with this. I had heard other stories about this place before and unfortunately i did not listen. Don't let my reveiw reflect onto the mall itself, if your in town, you should definitely visit!! read more

We've been to the Jefferson Valley Mall a couple of times, and apparently according to my boyfriend, the mall has improved significantly from when he was growing up. Simon Malls now owns it, and they are bringing in a higher end flair to the building, making sure that the mall, while humbler than some of the others I've been to, is clean and as modern as they can make it. The store selection is quite limited, but some of the stores such as Hot Topic and Hollister (I know, I love two stores that are literally the polar opposite of each other), have fantastic folks working here who really care about the customers and provided the best shopping experiences I've ever had at any of the stores in these chains. And I have been to many! Simon is bringing in more stores like Forever 21 and Victoria's Secret PINK to draw in a younger and vibrant crowd, and hopefully that will continue as they improve on the mall. Such a waste of retail space. Why 2 gyms? Maybe because they can afford the rent? Then there's the dollar store that opens whenever it feels like it. Owner or employee, whoever they are said they open at 11:00am. Not true, yet mall management allows this. The food court is severely lacking in choices. I worked in this mall in the mid 80's and it was busy. Now it's not worth the 10 minute drive. It's like a wasteland. Drive up route 9 where there are plenty of places to shop and eat. Do not know how the mall survives with the scarcity of shoppers and the number of stores closed during the week. About 1/4 of the stores are closed Mon-Wed and the lack of an anchor tenant after Sears seems to be the straw that broke the camels back. Three empty jewelry stores. Only three shops open in the food court. Really sad. For us , the opportunity for a heart surgery patient to walk indoors, an Auntie Annie's pretzel and the food truck party outside made this a gem of a location for us, and we are grateful. We will make an extra effort to visit in the future and hope the new anchor tenant make this a hit! read more

The bathrooms in this mall are disgusting (at least the men's room). The toilet in the handicap stall was covered in plastic. ALL the doors on the other stalls were broken. Another toilet was broken. So most people tried to use the family bathroom. However, possibly due to increased usage, there was no toilet paper. Additionally, disappointed that the family bathroom had a container so drug addicts can dispose of their used needles and syringes. Nice touch when taking your child to change a diaper. read more

I was a kid we used to come here sometimes. I think our parents took us here cuz the place was so small they didn't have to worry about losing the children. Now as an adult, I have gone back and been repeatedly disappointed. Many stores are closed and the ones that are open have no product to sell. It's funny that a company like Men's Wearhouse open to location here, but yet they don't actually sell suits. I don't understand what they do I don't understand what their purpose is. The mall no longer has a food court. Which is probably a good thing, since there doesn't seem to be enough patronage for the food to ever have been sold in the day it was made. A place now only has one bus route that serves it. There's only one anchor store now, as Sears has closed and gone. With no sign of a replacement. The Macy's that is here is outright depressing. I feel really really really really really bad for all the people whose jobs could or should exist here. The mismanagement of this property has driven the mall into severe decline. Despite their polishing the turd and getting a Dick's Sporting Goods to move in, that doesn't do a thing for Shoppers who visit the mall because their prices are way higher any other dicks location or any other Sporting Goods store I've ever seen in my life. I truly don't understand why this place still exists. I hope that someone can pull the property owners heads out of their own asses and get them to fix this mall and at least turn it into a small little Suburban shopping Oasis that it should be. read more

it honestly makes me sad to see a mall so dead. there was no stores that you'd usually see in a mall, like hollister, victoria's secret, spencer's, etc. the boba place there was horrible. i paid 16 dollars for two cups of boba and the quality was horrible. service on the other hand was nice, no real complaints there. this mall has great potential, but i don't see it going anywhere considering how its doing. coffee place on the first floor was great in my opinion. wraps and matcha are great, i recommend going there if you're looking for a bite to eat read more

I love this mall, it's almost never crowded, people are nice, it's clean, and super close to home. I can think of a few stores that I would like to see there but hey, nothing's perfect. By the way, beware: the 'dollar store', which is on the first floor, is not really a dollar store. So I rarely go there and stick with real dollar stores. This weekend, 3/14/20, I went in to get hand sanitizer, could not find it. I ask the guy, who's at the register, and he turns around, reaches into a box, and pulls out a 2 oz bottle and says 1.99. This is one of those in-and-out malls; not one you can mosey around in for a few hours, or would even want to. I remember when JV had a restaurant, the best candy store (MR BULKYS,) disney store, a movie theater!! But now its basically comprised of MACYS, Sears, Forever 21 and H&M. It's not dirty but its not clean and fresh in here either. It doesn't even have teeny-boppers roaming around with cell phone clips on hips b/c even they think its dull here! Almost all of the staff within any store in the mall clearly hate their lives and cannot crack a smile or make eye contact. As if its the customers fault that we made them work retail. Suck it up, it's your job and what you chose to do, not me!! This place needs a re-vamp ASAP. Stores closing all the time, half the mall is deserted fronts anyway. This is a nice mall, though it doesn't seem as popular as it was years ago, I like the fact that it's not crowded. I also love the fact that it has an Amazon Locker next to Sears which makes it convenient when you want to pick up or drop off an Amazon package! My brother called and offered to pay through credit card and debit card to settle the bill. They refused to accept that method of payment, and even though I was a regular customer, they called the police on me for theft of services. Totally embarrassing to me and my day. Definitely not one of the better malls I've been to. Had good food in the food court, but only 2-3 options, so it wasn't great for a meal (though there were certainly a lot of snack options if you were looking for a drink or something quick). There wasn't a ton in the way of clothing or name-brand apparel stores, so it wasn't great for Black Friday shopping, which is why I was there (though there was a Dick's, which was fun). Some of the stores are downright weird, such as the As Seen on TV store, which has some cool but very strange items. I bought a teeth-whitening kit there out of curiosity, and it made me incredibly sick after I used it. Overall, an interesting mall to stop by if you need to pick something up, but you'll be disappointed if you show up expecting to hang out or do a long shopping trip. read more

Now that Sears is gone and a 24 Hour Fitness is moving in on the bottom floor, wouldn't it be great if we could get Dave and Buster's to move into the upper Sears floor? All age groups would come to this place to meet up for food, and fun. Our teenagers could have a place to go to with their friends. This Mall has gotten a wee bit better. Very small though with few dining food court aptions. They do have Hallmark which is my favorite store and ulta beauty and a few others.. They also re did the downstairs and now have a activity area with cornhole and ping pong tables for the kids. But if you want a mall drive the extra 25 minutes to Danbury! read more

The place is but a shell of its former self. Walking thru on a rainy Saturday we were amazed at the many empty storefronts. A number of existing stores with their half empty shelves looked just about finished. What few shoppers around were at Macy's or Sears. The food court - once full - reduced to four unattractive options. The movie theater, video store, book store, Disney store, KB Toys, CVS - all long gone. I go here cuz it's close to home but boy has this place gone downhill since it opened. There are so many stores that are closed that it's a miracle anyone generates enough business to stay open. Now the food court is down to 5 places, one of which is Subway. If you work in the Mall, then maybe you want to eat Subway once in a while. If you're a shopper, why? And worst of all, I'm a male and there are so few places for me to get clothes. To think that at one point I considered opening a business in this Mall. And that restaurant near the main entrance. In it's day, The JV Mall was a great place. There was a decent food court, a movie theatre and the mall had many great stores. In fact, I remember this mall actually being crowded - but the past is the past. Sure, many people shop online which has hurt malls in general, but compared to other malls under the same company that have attractive stores like Apple, Banana Republic, Hollister, Urban Outfitters, etc., this place is on life support. In conclusion, they need to either renovate this place and bring some better stores in or knock it down to put a few big stores like a nice grocery store, a Target and some restaurants. read more

I'm not sure how to start my post, but we went to the Fair last night. All I can say is.....AMAZING! What first caught my attention was the Food Trucks, that is such a cool thing and i hope it continues to grow in our area. Thanks to Put Some Meat On Your Bones for getting our area to love this new trend!!! Great music, fun for kids, and beer garden for the adults. I hope the mall continues this trend and it helps to grow the foot print of this mall and the owners decide to go through with the outdoor shopping and eateries that they planned on going through with to enhance the only mall in our area. read more

Things seemed to be improving in the mall before it was a boring run of the mill mall. With the new facelift they have more popular shops but there's also very odd stuff at the mall perhaps to make it more unique- an art gallery, car show. First of all, I was here when this mall was built. Sagging floors and all. BUT it was a grand affair in the 70's. Sears left Peekskill for this location, and the was an UPSCALE department store (I forget the name now) where Macys is. These two stores were the anchors and there were many great little stores in between. The original food court was pretty good and the stores were of value to me. This mall suffers from the same disease as the Baldwin Place Mall. Another Mall I grew up with. They all start off with a BIG BANG and slowly deteriorate and let the internet and Amazon slowly kill them. Hey I remember Lantern Pub, THE best Prime Rib for the Money, now a dive called Rt 6 Taphouse. Anyway, Go to Danbury, IF you want a good shopping experience. Avoid this mall, as it will soon be a senior citizen center, LOL. read more

This mall has a few good stores but just seems so dreary from the outside. It needs to get a new layout and some other improvements to get with the times. I like the Macy's, Justice and Children's Place stores. The AT&T store and the rainbow loom kiosk are also key destinations. But that certain exciting atmosphere you get when coming to a mall isn't there. For the last 7 months there has been an empty restaurant that is supposed to be a chain Italian restaurant. It's still empty. The food court is sorely lacking. There are maybe 5 or 6 choices. Last week I saw a new food court counter that has has sandwiches, salads and other choices. It was in a space that had been empty for a long time. I'll have to try it next time. It's good that the mall is here for the local residents but I am hoping that it gets a complete makeover soon to be more exciting. A good mall to model Jefferson Valley after is Paramus Park in Paramus, New Jersey. While scrolling through my bookmarks, I told myself I'd review the first "to review"-labeled place that popped up, regardless of what it was. And with that thought, I landed on this little gem. I used to like the JV Mall. This was when I was small, and there was both a Friendly's restaurant and one of those Discovery science stores inside. This allowed me to eat macaroni and cheese with hot dogs and play with fancy nerdy things all in the same day. Then came my teenage years, and going to the mall was The Thing To Do. I spent my small $7-an-hour paychecks here, on toe socks and striped skirts and other things that teenagers buy but don't need. I had a lot of crappy jewelry and I dined on mall food. And honestly, that is all I have to say about the JV Mall. read more

Through the years Jefferson Valley Mall has had its highs and lows. A year from today I would give this mall a 2 star rating but, they have re-branded and have have started to re-build/modernize it. Adding popular stores such as, Dicks Sporting Goods, Ulta, and so many more! They re-did the food court and tripled the number of people who now eat there. Creating a comfortable seating area. Even adding a variety of places to eat at. The mall is fairly small compared to more well known malls such as the Palisades, Danbury, and the Westchester. It's a great place to go and shop. It's sad to see this mall lose one place after the other..charming Charlie's are going out of business, not to also mention there's nobody at the Nathan's stand and it's been like that for a month and a half already.. a lot of stores and food places are coming and going and it's so sad. Instead of putting a Gym in sears when there's already Club Fit down the street, Level Fitness in Courtland and Planet Fitness and NYSC in Mahopac..I know someone already commented this recently, but they should put a Dave & Busters there! That will REALLY draw people in instead of making that long drive to Palisades Mall. Or an Olive Garden, Buffalo Wild Wings or Cheesecake Factory..SOMETHING. I grew up in that mall from the day it opened. It was a great place. Now I only go there to pick up packages and B&BW. It's sad and empty now. The only thing that Simon Malls has done is put in crappy little stores that cater to kids. The food selection is scarce and not good at all. Maybe my review might be biased or so you think. I first came to the small a few months ago as someone who worked at Hot Topic. To be honest, the more they didn't have a lot to work with and truthfully when it came to the food, it wasn't the best. Throughout the time that I have work in the mall, I have since transferred to an on floor store And I have watch the more transition from not so good too a lot better. In December, they opened up an anchor store called the Stone Rose and it seems to be doing very very well. The mall has been renovating a lot of stores and there's a lot more to do now than it was when I first walked through the doors. I rate it a five star Because there are places, there are nice stores and there are nice people. I love the fact that the mall brings family together by throwing little locations to bring him and celebrate. The stores and the mall continues to get better with time and TLC. I do however hope they put in a really good coffee shop/ kiosk. Myself and a lot of the employees that work in the mall agree that we would benefit from having a Starbucks. read more

I agree with the other reviews there are so many boarded up stores that the mall is not like it use to be. A theatre is needed and other reputable business. I gave two stars because of Sears and Macy's. But Macy's lately have been falling off too. The clothing are out of date/not as fashionable as its other branches. We were upstairs at Macy's and it had a strong musty dusty smell. Your consumers deserve better. read more

Geez I don't know where to start this place is been going downhill for years soon as Burger King moved out 10 years ago I knew this place was a downhill spiral but no matter who they put in to manage the place it just keeps going downhill. Now with the new owners think by remodeling the whole mall and give it a facelift it's going to make any difference, don't get me wrong the place looks nice but it hasn't drawn many new businesses to come in. The main reason I used to go to the mall was to eat and then afterwords I will walk around looking at stuff, now there's not even a food court and not many stores to look at.
