The office staff is the friendliest group of ladies I've ever met in an apartment office, they truly make you feel at home. The apartment itself is spotless. The bedroom carpets look brand new, and the wood-patterned floors in the main areas are super cute. The kitchen and bathrooms are definitely my favorite parts. The kitchen has a large granite island with overhead lighting, under-cabinet track lights, and all modern, updated appliances. The bathrooms are beautiful. They have huge, clean tiled tubs, double sinks in both bathrooms, and more cabinet space than we even know what to do with. We also love the community amenities. Playing pool, corn hole, and swimming in the large pool has been so much fun. But honestly, the best part of living here is the welcoming atmosphere. From the maintenance team to the office staff, everyone is genuinely friendly, and that makes us feel at home.

Now, the noise line says they can only come out if the noise is happening at the moment. The office staff have come by and tried to listen for noise, but if it's not happening when they stop by, it's not a problem. I'm paying too much money to deal with noise every evening. Skip these apartments and find another property. Oh, and they will let you transfer units for a ton of money. Scam! Save yourself.

The grounds are well maintained, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and quick to respond. The structure of Shadow Brook is a non profit and the apartments are leased for ranges, based on your income (though it IS NOT section 8 housing). They offer efficiencies on up, and are usually on a wait list. They only show apartments on Fridays and do not always have one to show each Friday, though they do have a photograph album of model apartments and floor plans. Initially I was nervous to rent an apartment without seeing the unit first, but I couldn't be happier. With the option I chose (the loft style 1 bedroom) I have plenty of space and am able to live on my own affordably ($490 a month rent). Many of my friends and classmates pay nearly double to live, in many cases, a worse complex. When I moved to Arlington and told people I live at Shadow Brook I usually got an odd look, and some informed me that it used to be bad, but that was before Foundation Communities bought it a couple of years ago. Today, I have never felt unsafe nor have I worried about being ripped off or felt like my neighbors were shady. Upon my renewal they cleaned my carpet for free, they offer residual pest control and special request pest control visits each Wednesday (at no additional charge, without limits) and they use ABC Pest and Lawn. In the back of the complex is a boys and girls club and at tax season United Way sets up and helps you file your taxes for free. At least once a month they have a "produce day" where fresh produce can be bought at a good cost in the front of the building. Its close to UTA (actually a shorter bike ride for me than a drive due to the traffic on Cooper) and well located. I will renew again next year if it continues to be the wonderful property I have enjoyed.

Packages were frequently stolen, cars were broken into, and I even heard of motorcycles being stolen right off the property. The lack of security is alarming. There was an ant infestation that affected my family, and it took far too long to get resolved. Maintenance requests in general are either delayed or ignored. A major safety issue with the washing machine lid has still not been fixed, even after it caused injuries to both my wife and me. The condition of the property is also unacceptable. Hallways often smell like marijuana, floors are dirty, and there are dead bugs throughout common areas. Exterior doors are frequently left open, which has led to non-residents entering the building and even sleeping in the hallways. Packages are also frequently stolen from the mailroom, which adds another layer of concern around security and management oversight. On top of that, management has been unresponsive and tends to make excuses instead of fixing problems. The outdoor areas are poorly maintained, with dog waste covering much of the grass. For the price, the living experience is well below average. I would not recommend this property to anyone looking for a safe, clean, and well-managed place to live.

We have renewed our lease 3 times and transferred a couple of times with a downsize to a one bedroom as we are now empty nesters! The amenities are endless and worth every penny. I feel very secure in the gated community. Very pet friendly the grounds are kept clean and I've never had to wait longer than 24 hours for a routine maintenance request. Everything is always in great working condition. So if you're thinking of living here look no further! Jasmine, Karen or any of the other staff members will gladly help you out. Minutes from DFW airport and a nice midway point between Fort Worth and Dallas. Maintenance is friendly and prompt. Walls seem to be thick enough to drown out all but the most obnoxious neighbors. Walking distance from TRE. Cons: Grocery stores are a bit of a trek. Area food options are fairly limited for a sit down meal. Required cable and valet trash service tacks on around $50-60 / month. Don't watch cable, but when I did the charter service was horrible -- cutting in and out on nearly every channel worth watching. Other notes: I found the duct work to be pretty horrible so our A/C was really inefficient, driving our electric bills up far beyond what we should have to pay for 800sqft. I actually reached turn off a light switch and felt cold air blowing out of the receptacle. That means cold air was circulating within the walls better than throughout the apartment. We had our bikes chained to the railing in the breezeway (3rd floor) and they were stolen. That's the risk you take, but for a gated community (whose gates have often been broken) I would have expected at least some tone of sympathy from the management. Instead, I got a pretty lazy excuse, "The contractors still haven't given us a quote." As a business owner, I can see both sides of that coin --they're not technically liable-- but it is difficult to see the gates stuck open so often and see emails about "Ice Cream Socials" and so on. I can buy my own ice cream, I can't buy a security gate. I want to know that my property manager is concerned about the same things I am. Overall, I was fairly happy with the 800sqft for $950 per month all said and done, but I feel like the rent had gone up significantly by the time we were thinking about renewing. Other areas worth considering within a 5 minute drive are Bear Creek area and some apts north of 183 on 360 in Euless.

Also so close to the airport you can read the flight numbers on the planes. Terrible complex for the amount of money youre paying. Nevermind the pool parties that go well into the mornings.
