She said they had a backlog of 5,000 uprocessed referrals. I can't even fathom what this would mean my healthcare needs were dire. - My PCP turned off my ability to message her after one message. - Recently I showed up for a dermatology appointment and, after disrobing and waiting, I was told I couldn't be seen that day because I had an endocrinology appointment earlier that day, completely wasting hours of my time. Yet it was someone within Perlman Clinic who had booked both appointments for me. - They have ZERO holistic options. The ONLY PCP I could find with a holistic (ie TRULY "integrative") background was fully booked out with no option for a waitlist. - The first PCP I tried with them, when I asked her "do you trust me to know my own body" looked me straight in the eye and, deadpan, said "No." Then she proceeded to get very agitated. - A recent referral was denied by my insurance and they claimed they had no interest in disputing it. - A doctor I waited a month to get in to see cancelled two hours before with no reason or apology, and bumped me right to the back of the line again, forcing me to wait another month to see her. - The endocrinologist I've been working with clearly has zero real knowledge. My research and conversation with functional doctors has shown me that if I flat out listened to her, it could be dangerous for my health. - My insurance denied thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of claims because they were incorrectly submitted. - The clinics emulate complete lack of health. Everyone who works there looks and feels so unhappy and unhealthy. I have trouble understanding how these are the people we should be counting on for our health? - As if this list weren't long enough, there's so much more beyond this - all WAY too long to list here. Update: After posting this review, I received a phone call from someone who pretended to care. But it was crystal clear in their speech that they cared ZERO. Every time I have expressed concern I've been met with inauthentic, canned speech (poorly) designed to suppress people.

Dr liu, is conservative as opposed to aggressive in his treatment including prescriptions, always giving possible side effects and reasons for recommending which one and why this is the best approach. I've been to plenty of Dr appts in my life where you're not only feeling rushed to get out of the office, you also are not confident in the treatment. Before, during, and after being seen by the nurse practitioner I tried confirming literally countless times that they knew this visit was preventative, not diagnostic, and that there were specific Z (preventative) codes to use so I wouldn't be incorrectly billed as I have been before. They had literally no idea what I was talking about, but kept trying to dismiss me and talk about how I hadn't met my deductible. I was politely standing my ground against 4 of them to state that what they were telling me was not correct and asked them to please call my insurance on the back of my card to confirm, and they refused for over 30 minutes. Finally, the actual doctor told them there were preventative codes for PreP - exactly as I said. No apology at all and extremely unprofessional. Also, told me they would call me in a couple days when my prescription was ready and they never contacted me. Then, lo and behold, 3 days later I get an EOB saying I owe them for my clinic visit. Totally illegal, and exactly why I bent over backward to make sure they coded everything properly. After my insurance called them to try and inform them what they were doing was incorrect they said they would change it this ONE TIME, but not moving forward. My insurance told them that's literally not how it works, but they didn't care. Diane, the billing buffoon, said she's been doing it for 30 years her way and she knows what she's doing. Clearly not. This place is just a typical ill-informed, old-school style practice that can't get with the times. Who knows how out of date their processes are, they are probably incorrectly billing countless patients. Super, super disappointing and severely out of touch with the medical needs of people today, and they do not advocate for their patients' health and wellbeing. I called them to follow up on this appointment and was told by the front desk staff that their doctors are still seeing patients and will call us when they're available. When asked why given us the appointment at 4 PM, when you can't honor it, the staff said their doctors told them to schedule every appointment 10 minutes apart. Then she said if I have a problem with it then I need to take it up with their doctors. I told her that this office has been doing this for years, how can they not notice the problem. But she kept telling me to take it up with their doctors instead. My mother in law is stubborn, as with most of the other elderly asian patients, they just want to stick with 1 doctor who can speak Vietnamese, and this place is it. And she had been here for years since she was still healthy and young back then. So hence she doesn't want to switch primary care doctor. It doesn't matter if you made an appointment in person or virtual, they're always at least 1 hour late. I, personally, used to go here as well, but not anymore after so many delays in treatments/appointments. So, am I supposed to physically go there just to make an appointment? Imagine living far away and having a busy schedule--how is that even feasible? There was a young girl, who I believe is a newbie MA, and she was trying to draw my blood. She seemed really nervous about it, and honestly, I could tell something wasn't right. As I watched her, she actually yelled at me to look away, saying that if I was looking at her, she couldn't focus. I asked to have someone else do it, of course she gave me a rude attitude and walked away grumpily. It was such an unprofessional and uncomfortable experience. There're a lots problem for me with this office during the time I were patients here but the last visit was the final straw for me. I went in, polite as can be, to ask about my blood results and to request a copy of my chest X-ray. The receptionist barely acknowledged me and acted so condescending. He diagnosed 2 things my wife had that docs at UCSD couldn't. Most recently I had a lower back/leg issue which I went to see him first for, as he has been a team doc for NFL teams. He took an in office X-ray, discovered the problem, prescribed appropriate medications, and I had immediate relief. He ordered an MRI, which gave a complete picture of what was wrong. After discussing the results via a video call, he has referred me to an orthopedic pain doc and feels it can be managed without surgery. I can't speak highly enough about Dr Saleh, and his staff is excellent. Always friendly and thorough. I highly recommend d Shelter Island Medical for your primary care.
