After my dentist passed away a couple of years ago, I had a difficult time finding another dentist I could connect with. I had been with my previous dentist for over 15 years, and I believe having a good relationship with your dentist is important. You may only see them twice a year or during an emergency, but you want someone who knows you and genuinely cares. I tried a couple of dentists but never felt comfortable. Then I came across an ad featuring Dr. Jeff Miyazawa and decided to give his practice a try. He is in Kaneohe and I live in Ewa, so it is definitely a drive--but he is absolutely worth it. From the beginning, his staff made me feel welcome and comfortable, especially Christine. She is incredibly friendly, warm, and helpful. She listened to my concerns and carefully explained all of my options without making me feel pressured or judged. Dr. Miyazawa was also very personable and seemed genuinely interested in helping me. For years, I had a small chip in one of my front teeth. It may have seemed minor, but it was noticeable to me in pictures and affected how I felt about my smile. Another dentist had previously repaired it, but the repair did not last very long. Yesterday, Dr. Miyazawa repaired my two front teeth, and I could immediately see the difference in the level of care. He was extremely meticulous. He did not simply cover the chip and send me on my way. He made sure my smile looked balanced, also worked on my bottom teeth, and paid close attention to every detail. This was definitely not a rushed ten-minute job. I am so grateful to Dr. Miyazawa and his staff. I feel more confident, and I finally love my smile again. It feels like he gave me back the smile I used to have. I highly recommend him--especially if you are looking for a dentist who is skilled, caring, personable, and truly listens. This was KUPANAHA experience!! I had had my uppers replaced by permanent denture/implants by two other DDS, BUT THIS, THIS was an AMAZING experience, from the reception to the send off- Dr. Miyazawa and his team were above 5 stars-- Way above! I had much, much less blood loss, the comfort level could not have been better and the pain level was WAY below what I had felt before. Dr Miyazawa even treated me to a Lyft ride home (his office is in Kanahoe and I live in Makana!) waited by the car door to make sure I was settled and okay. Only four year ago I had a front crown replaced. This week it fell off. After a $500 scan his bill to replace the tooth is close to $8,000. Previous to this he replaced a crown on my lower jaw due to food getting trapped. It is much worse now. Not happy at all. read more

I want to make it perfectly clear that I don't like going to the dentist. But ever since I was introduced to Dr Miyazawa, my attitude has changed greatly. I want to say that when you walk into his office, his team members are all great at what they do and actually make it seem as if you're walking into a family gathering and everyone is friendly and really ready to help with making you feel comfortable. I started going there because a friend recommended him and told me that when he got a shot from Dr Miyazawa, he didn't even know that he had gotten one, and that's all I needed. He's the BEST! First, you and he go over a plan so he knows what you want. Second, he goes the plan with you and his staff and gives you a quotation so you don't have any questions. Third, he starts and makes adjustments while he does his work. He tells you if he's come across any problems and what to do. If he needs approval, his staff will ask you whether you want it done, and tells you what amount, if any, it will cost. If he adjusts the plan, he or his staff will tell you before he does it. He is good. His staff is also excellent in that they have a lot of experience at dental treatments! I would recommend Dr Miyazawa and his clinic. read more

Let me start off by saying that It's not easy to find dentists that care about what you actually need versus what they are selling nowadays. When you walk in and sit down at any of the stations, there are Yelp review QR codes at every station. They encourage you to submit a review in exchange for free coffee. I could care less about free coffee, as I was looking for a dentist who cares about my specific issue and not oversell me on things I do not. It felt very salesy and lacked overall compassion and empathy. It was like pulling teeth (pun intended) to have Dr. Miyazawa offer other solutions that didn't include me spending tens of thousands of dollars on a solution. After a few visits, it became clear that the solution I was pressured into was more about lining their pockets instead of providing a solution that met my current needs and wants. He clearly had no interest in discussing other alternatives or options. After talking to about a dozen dentists, I finally found one that cares more about their patients and their needs, and not their own self interests. Don't fall trap to all the positive yelp reviews. Ask lots of questions and if you feel the ick that I felt, trust your gut and keep it moving! read more

Although I've gone to others who didn't cause any negative experiences, circumstances caused me to look for another dentist and a friend's recommendation sent me to Dr. Miyazawa.
