In a nutshell, Dr. Oka to the rescue!!! I lost my bridge in the water bodyboarding and he was able to accommodate me within a few days despite his busy schedule!! I highly recommend Dr. Oka. Aside from being just a really nice and personable guy, he is very understanding and listens to his patients needs. Who ever thought a Dentist would be using a 3D printer to give his patients the best of everything! I had a front tooth cap break and just dreaded going in! Dr. Oka was able to take images of my broken cap and print a perfectly fitted one on his 3D printer!!! No temporary stuff that looks ugly and I don't need to go back to finish! It was all done in 1 appointment!!I I will always miss Dr. Takesono and Betsy but I'm happy to say that Dr. Oka and his staff is a fantastic choice and will be my family's dentist forever! read more

I have never met a well reviewed dentist, if for no other reason than we all hate going to the dentist. If any dentist deserves a 5 star rating it's Dr. Oka. He provides a competent, caring and communicative dental experience. I was having issues with my teeth and probably since I know NOTHING about teeth I was worried that something might fall out...my worry has some grounds because at that time I hadn't been to the dentist in 3 years. We called Dr. Oka's office and he agreed to see me that same day if I headed down immediately, which i gratefully did. He stayed late to squeeze me in that day and did a great job explaining that I had somehow injured my gums and kept bothering it (guilty as charged) and that was why it was getting worse and worse. He explained my options and his recommendations. He was empathetic and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend him! read more

My family has been coming to this Dentistry practice since before Dr. Oka became the "head" dentist or whatever you might call it. When he switched in and took over all of the previous customers, the transition was smooth and it didn't even feel like much of a change. Dr. Oka is kind and makes you feel comfortable with such little effort. All of the dental assistants who clean your teeth are so nice and they really make an effort to get to know you and relate to you. I haven't been to a dentist in years and was very apprehensive about going due to my past experience. However, I built up some courage and did some homework, which led me to Dr. Oka. From the time I stepped foot in their door (last week) to leaving, they have made feel so comfortable. I also liked that their equipment was up-to-date as others had mentioned. This was one of the reasons I decided to come here. The X-Rays was not as bad as I remembered it to be. The dental hygienist explained each step of the way, made sure I was ok and that I was not in pain. They also take your blood pressure, go over your medical history and any medication that you take. After my preliminary cleaning, Dr. Oka introduced himself and went over medical history as well and if you had any problems with your teeth. He recommended me a more reasonable way to fix a problematic tooth. Since I haven't been to the dentist in a very long time I knew that additional work would be required. They spelled out the work I needed to get my teeth back on track and the cost. Not once was I pressured to accept their recommendation. When I was a small kid, listening to the cries and screams of other kids in the dentist's office bred in me a lifelong fear and revulsion of dentists. So when I do encounter someone who provides me with a feeling of absolute safety and caring I am so incredibly appreciative and relieved. Last week Dr. Oka replaced a crown and I was surprised at how relaxing it was. Although I knew there was a lot going on around me, Dr. Oka and his entire crew never seemed stressed or rushed, and in the time it took (2 hrs.) I enjoyed the entire experience. I felt empowered when he showed me pictures of my tooth on the computer and explained what I was looking at, and watched his 3-D printer with fascination while high-pressure water jets and diamond drill bits transformed a small block of porcelain into my crown (it took less than 10 minutes). His new office design (open floor plan and client spaces without floor to ceiling walls) meant I didn't feel claustrophobic and closed in and it lessened any fear or isolation I might have felt. Instead I focused on a view of the beautiful Koolaus with white fluffy clouds floating in a blue sky. I would make myself President of his fan club except I'm sure there's a long line of satisfied customers ahead of me! read more

Dr Oka and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I once had cracked what I thought was my tooth, but ended up being just my filling. Their office was closed, so I emailed Dr. Oka in desperation. Within an hour he had responded to me! Even though it was 10 o'clock at night! Dr. Oka's office for your dental needs! The front desk is very nice & helpful. They listen to your needs and help you receive the care you are looking for. I was treated by Dr. Johnson, who was excellent! I was able to explain my concerns and what I was looking for. Dr. Johnson took the time to listen, to check my dental concern and help treat me on the spot. He was very gentle (NO PAIN!) and he worked very well with his assistant as a team. Unfortunately I can't be fake, he is a young dentist who gave me the impression that he would do anything for more money. Although I was pleased with his services at first, he proved that money is more important than his patients. For example...he shaved apart of a tooth that was NOT NEEDED. Didn't inform me and when I asked he denied it at first, but honestly who doesn't know their own mouth??? In general very disappointed in services. Wouldn't recommend this person/dentist to ANYONE!!! Hope this helps you. And I also have 2 dental insurances. On the plus side his staff is amazing and the technology is impressive. This is just my opinion. read more

Dr. Oka and his staff are wonderful people. They are sincere and caring folks. I always receive a warm welcome and am seen on time. The office atmosphere is pleasant. I love the art work and music to soothe any dental jitters. Everyone seems happy to be there and they all work together well. The equipment is modern and overall, everything "feels" and looks clean. The drive from Mililani to Kaneohe on the H-3 is beautiful. I usually make a day of it by having lunch nearby, shopping at Windward Mall (plan to go to the Farmer's Market if your appointment is on a Wednesday), and viewing the art exhibit at Hoomaluhia Park which changes monthly. It's always a great experience going to Dr. Oka's office. I love his staff, the dental hygienists are good & Dr. Oka is a sweetheart. He has worked on my teeth without causing me pain. When my sister from Canada was visiting and she was in pain from a bad tooth, he squeezed her into his schedule, fixed the problem, and worked with her insurance so that she didn't have to pay a penny out of her own pocket. Very professional office. Dr. Oka is young and modern. This Punahou Grad knows this profession. The last dentist I went to (in CA) tried to convince me I needed to replace several crowns. I have been a patient of Dr. Oka's for several years, after he took over the practice from the previous dentist I had been seeing for decades. Every 4 months or so I go in for teeth cleaning by one of his superb dental technicians. Afterwards he routinely checks on the results and consults personally about any potential problems. In the past I have had to do teeth implants, which were done off site by an implant specialist. Subsequently, after the implant matured in the base of the jaw, he was able to use the latest 3-D equipment in his office to create perfectly fit crowns to complete the process. And this was all done in less than an hour with zero pain! His new office has 8 chairs and is superbly equipped and tastefully decorated. Best part of his new office is the ample parking, which used to be a pain in the okole when he was located next door. Look at the photos here to see how to access the parking which has plenty of free stalls to handle his patients. The front desk, ably run by ever-smiling Netti, is super efficient. His office uses a text-based system to send out appointment reminders to your smart phone, a useful reminder system. I have had out-of-town visitors who needed immediate attention for dental emergencies and Dr. Oka was always able to arrange an appointment within 24 hours. Seeing him and his crew is worth the long drive I make from Waikiki to Kaneohe for my dental care. Finally, his prices are extremely affordable. read more

I usually go for my check up every 6 months and I always leave with a clean and fresh smile. His staff, from the kind and warm receptionist up front to the attentive hygienists, are very professional from start to finish. Dr. Oka is awesome. He is gentle, kind, and affordable, and his office is up to date with the most current and latest technology. In the past, in order to get my tooth capped, I was required to make two appointments. The first appointment was to get the measurements for the cap (those measurements were then sent out to a lab and once the lab created the cap, it was sent back to my dentist) and the second appointment was to have the cap affixed to my tooth. Dr. Oka's office has a new machine that allowed him to measure my tooth, create the cap in his office, and affix it to my tooth in the same visit. Having to go to the dentist once, instead of twice, saved me a lot of time! Plus, my cap fits great. If you are looking for a new dentist, I'd highly recommend Dr. Oka. read more
