I had three crowns placed at this office and have experienced ongoing problems since the procedure…read more Issues I experienced after the crowns were placed include: -Pain when chewing (especially nuts or gum on the left side) -Bite changes where my teeth now catch in ways they did not before treatment -Crowns contacting other teeth in a way that chipped a natural tooth and a previously placed crown due to the rubbing against the crowns placed by this office -Open spacing near the gumline between crowns where food consistently gets trapped -A crown shape and color that do not match my natural teeth, despite discussing this with the office beforehand -Food sticking to the chewing surfaces, which was not an issue before the crowns were placed I reported these concerns during follow-up visits and raised them again at my last appointment. However, the issues were not addressed, and I was told they would be handled if I returned to have an additional crown placed. After I left a one-star review, Dr. Allred asked that I contact the office as if my concerns had not already been clearly communicated in person. I have had routine checkups and cleanings at other dental offices following my treatments at Velux and was never told that the additional tooth they recommended for a crown required that level of treatment. In fact, I had never even been told that the tooth needed a filling. I have since been informed that one of the crowns may need to be replaced because it does not make proper contact with the adjacent tooth. Because of these issues, I have sought care elsewhere and will be replacing the crowns placed by this office. Since my dental insurance already paid for the crowns placed here, I will now have to pay out of pocket for the replacements. I would not recommend this dental office.

Even if you outsource, train front desk to take ALL insurance information like PObox address and phone number. When doing reminder calls have front desk make sure all is well with the insurance. Please give more training to front desk if there is issues regarding anything "day of appointment" have management/ owner know of the possible problem and be stand to help correct the issues, otherwise will lose potential business. Also increase shared screen plan for Netflix or switch to different streaming services like Disney+ or peacock so all your tv work at the same time. I gave this place a chance regardless of how the building appears outside looks. Inside looks much more like a dentist office. I made my appointment about 2 month in advance I remember specifically asking the gal that took my information if she would like my insurance card PO Box address so they can located the correct information to bill. I remember asking twice and her responding back no we just need name of insurance and Id# okay I went along with it. The week before my appointment (which is today 10/12/23) I get calls and text message each reminding me and asking if I'll still keep the appointment. I responded yes since I had to request time off from work for this appointment. THE DAY of my appointment another gal calls me up telling me unfortunately they couldn't find my insurance and they would have to bill me as cash pay.... Why this wasn't this told me before hand or when I got these reminder calls I don't know. I would have been happy enough to give in more details of my insurance but due to office work flow/ structure of having only one person knowing how to check insurance benefits not being there this would not have helped. Now I would have waste my PTO and would have probably had to wait another month or two to be seen for a simple cleaning. But this was correct by the business owner and dentist Dr. Orvin. He had personally called me back during the busy client day and call and checked my insurance himself during his lunch break. Dr. Orvin was the only reason I decide to give this place another chance and would be scheduling a follow up appointment.

There is a dental office next door. Check them out before coming here. I made the greatest mistake of having them do some extensive work. Both times it was a disaster. Now, I'm in the process of paying more money to get it fixed. If you have options, I encourage you to look into those options before stepping foot into this establishment. UPDATE: please read their response. I had given this establishment the opportunity to correct their error with an extensive procedure of fixing my front tooth bite. During the procedure he shaved my tooth to fit the bite. However, I now have a gap in my bite and air pockets. I had contacted them a week after the procedure in July 2025. It took a month to get a reply. I then took it upon myself to check with another provider on what I see and his thoughts. The provider stated the work completed was far less than par. In order to fix this, it will cost me $8K out of pocket because Genesis has exhausted my dental benefits and will not reimburse me or fix this issue. This is the second time I had this exact issue with them. I trusted them to not make the same mistakes. I used loyalty and blinded my instincts. I should have listened to my intuition considering Dr.Foltz's has never made me feel comfortable or accepted during my annual checkups. I assumed it was me. However, with the statements below, my instincts were correct. Dr. Foltz doesn't genuinely care about his patients. If he did, he would have at least made an effort. Instead he excused my genuine concerns and told me to never come back. Please note that that my daughters and I have been a patients of Genesis dental for many years. If Dr.Foltz felt that he was inexperienced or uncomfortable with these types of procedures, then the proper steps would be for him to refer to another dentist. I double down on this location, do not come here. They will treat you just the same. Their dental technicians are fresh out of dental school and there are going to be mistakes that they are unwilling to correct. Also, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING until after you see the work. Genesis dental advised me to sign a form stating I was satisfied with the work in an email PRIOR to my appointment and another form while waiting in the office. You shouldn't be coerced into these types of perfidious behaviors in an establishment. Hi Maricella, Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We truly want every patient to feel comfortable and confident with their treatment, and we are sorry to hear that you are not fully satisfied with your outcome. Dr. Foltz has carefully evaluated your case and confirmed that your treatment was completed to fit the natural anatomy of your mouth and bite. We also took extra steps along the way to ensure your approval and comfort during the process. Based on this, there are no additional adjustments that can be made without compromising the function or long-term health of your smile. We understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, and we sincerely wish you the very best moving forward. At this point, we believe it may be in your best interest to continue your dental care with another provider who can offer you a fresh perspective. Warm regards, Genesis Dental of Taylorsville

I got the filling scheduled and got it done just to be surprised with his own inflated fees rather than my insurance fees which he refused to accept. The reason? It was a filling that wasn't due for replacement yet. Amy, the awful billing lady yelled and argued with me over the phone that it's not their job to check if the tooth had been worked on in the past by another office. These people are lazy as sh*t and will NOT check any sort of tooth history just to trap you into paying their blown up fees. Watchout, this is a strategy of theirs! All other offices I've been to will not hesitate to call your insurance to gather pertinent information about the tooth that needs work. The filling, by the way, was no good. As you can see from the other reviewers, Dan Mirci absolutely sucks at performing fillings. Save yourself the headache and avoid this office and the awful billing lady! The rest of the ladies there were nice but Amy the biller is a total b*tch. I needed to see a dentist right away, and Merci Dental absolutely came through for me. They were able to get me in the same day. I let them know I was flexible and would take whatever opening they had, and I was so grateful they squeezed me in. The dentist quickly evaluated me and said I needed a root canal. Because of the complexity, they felt it would be best for me to see an endodontist. What impressed me was how the Merci Dental team handled it -- they didn't just send me away with a referral. The dentist had the front desk call three highly recommended endodontists immediately to see who could take me. Within minutes, they had me set up with an appointment, and I was able to drive straight over and be seen that same day. The next day, I came back to Merci Dental to be fitted for a crown, and two weeks later I now have my permanent crown in place. Everything feels great and the quality of work has been excellent. The entire staff was kind, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about my well-being. Since everything was happening quickly, they made sure to explain each step clearly and confirm that I understood what was being done. The front desk deserves special thanks -- they moved fast, coordinated seamlessly, and kept billing accurate in real time even as the treatment plan changed. That kind of attention to detail made a stressful experience so much easier. I spend a lot of time in Salt Lake City, and Merci Dental is now my go-to dentist. From emergency care to ongoing dental work, I couldn't recommend them more highly.
