Dr Jeffrey Liu is an excellent cataract surgeon! He replaced the lenses in both of my eyes. I had no bleeding, pain or swelling. He used remarkably small incisions and completed both operations in amazingly short times. Prior to the surgeries. Dr Liu and his staff went over the operations, answering all my questions. They helped me with one decision--the focal length of the lenses. They were indeed right to suggest the change. My eye sight went from 20/30 and 23/50 with glasses to 20/20 and 20/25 without glasses. It's been a little over six weeks since I had LAL cataract surgery on both eyes, performed by Dr Jeffrey Liu. Dr Liu was the first on the list of recommended ophthalmologists, given to me by my optometrist. I also checked Yelp reviews and Dr Liu had very positive reviews. I felt lucky to get an appointment with Dr Liu, just a few days after calling his office - due to a cancellation, and was able to schedule my cataract surgery less than 4 weeks later. From the first time I met Dr Liu, I felt like he was a kind and caring doctor, who listened to me and answered all of my questions. I was also impressed by all the technicians there, and ease of scheduling all of my appointments in advance. Over the last 6-1/2 weeks, I had my LAL cataract surgery on both eyes, two adjustments in right eye and one adjustment in left eye, and did my second and final lock in two days ago. Dr. Jeffrey Liu performed an excellent cataract surgery on my 90-year-old mother last month. He is truly one of the best cataract surgeons in the Bay Area. My mom has macular degeneration in both eyes, and her right eye is already blind because of the disease. Over the past year, the cataract in her left eye worsened significantly--she could no longer read newspapers or view images on her iPad, and she had to stop playing cards. Her macular specialist recommended cataract surgery; however, her regular eye doctor refused to perform it, believing she was too old and that the risks were too high. We were very discouraged and began seeking a second opinion. I found Dr. Liu on Yelp. After examining my mom's left eye, he was confident that he could perform the surgery safely. The surgery went very smoothly, and my mom didn't feel much pain or discomfort afterward. Dr. Liu is skilled, patient and committed to a good outcome. I'm impressed, and I'm grateful to have been referred to him. Dr. Liu did a pterygium excision procedure (rip 'n' snip) on both eyes, one week apart, at a nearby outpatient surgical center. He and his staff were great to deal with. In particular, Georgina was super helpful with dealing with insurance and keeping my prescriptions filled; Michaela also helped keep the insurance train rolling, and from my perspective everything went seamlessly. I wish I'd taken better note of the office ophthalmology technicians' names (I think one was Paul) but they were terrific. I had an appointment with Dr. Liu scheduled a year in advance. A few weeks before the appointment, the office called to reschedule because he was going to be in surgery. So I rescheduled. Then the office called again to reschedule because he was going to be in surgery. They called again today to reschedule for a THIRD time because he is supposedly going to be in surgery on the day of my appointment. I will not see a doctor who shows such a lack of respect for patients. read more

Dr. Liu helped my dad with a tear sac wash. He and the care team were very respectful, they showed care in checking his eyes. The initial check up and the procedure took a little longer than I anticipated including some wait time. Overall my dad was satisfied and got his issue resolved. read more

I appreciate Dr Jeffrey Liu for resolving my teary and yellow discharged eye problem. I visited my regular eye doctor, he barely look at my eye, just prescribe antibiotic eye drop for infection. It did not work and I suffered for another month. A friend referred me to Dr Beers, but his available appointment was three weeks out. They told me Dr Liu was available, so I gave the same office a chance and took the appointment. It was the best decision I made. Dr Liu found calcium deposits inside my tear duct. He patiently took time to squeeze it and took out many pieces of little calcium. I felt so much improved right after. I had to go back two weeks later to remove another larger piece burried deeper inside. Now I'm all healed and happy! Dr Liu is wonderful; he is a nice, patient and gentle doctor. He took time to listen and found the root cause of my two months of suffering. I highly recommand Dr Liu and I'll go back to him for future eye examine and any other eye cares. Dr Liu also speaks Chinese, he should be able to help Chinese speaking patients. read more

I saw some floaters in my eyes since last week. So I called the office and made appointment within a week. Dr. Liu is very kind, professional and gentle. He checked my eyes carefully and told me it's common for people with high myopia. Nothing need to be worried about for now. Also, the office staff are so sweet. Especially the front office, Tracy, she helped me contact the insurance company to confirm my policy and completed all the paper work. They are all wonderful. I have no idea if these docs are good physicians and surgeons or not, but---I don't trust opthalmologists that give more room in their offices to sales counters for glasses than they do for waiting patients---I don't like waiting rooms which are stark, with the only wall decorations being large signs telling you how wonderful laser surgery is---I see no point in waiting 20 minutes before a tech takes routine info on a machine when what one is there for has nothing to do with intra-ocular pressure or vision, and then 15 more for a doctor looks at you briefly and tells you he doesn't do what you need and you need to make an appointment with someone else in his office. I left, and found one who seemed competent, pleasant, on time, and informative. read more

I came to get my eye infection checked out, and even though the medication was not able to treat me all the way. Dr.Liu is not afraid to acknowledge that he does not have all the answers and will help you get the care you need. Went to see Dr. Jeffrey Liu for a regular checkup for new prescriptions and had a fantastic experience. He was very thorough and personable and also addressed my dry eye issues. I also got glasses, and they were happy to order the glasses that I liked in different colors so that I could try them out before deciding on which one to buy. My cataract journey to Dr. Liu began as not being able to get a consult with a well known area cataract surgeon, due to the possibility of my cataracts "not being ripe enough". Dr. Liu is great. I had a red and itchy eye for a few days and when I call Dr. Liu, he is able to fit me in the same day as emergency new patient. I am so grateful of this. Prior to going to Dr Liu, I went to see a doctor at urgent Care and was prescribed an antibiotic eye drops and antihistamine eye drops. After using it a few days the symptoms did not improve. When I saw Dr. Liu, he immediately point out what the problem was. He said there was a eye lashes stuck in to my eye and irritated the eyes. He removed it in a couple of seconds and since then my symptoms resolved in the next couple days. read more

So glad when I come through a doctor who is thorough to the T. Not only that, he has great bedside manner. I went to see him to address month long eye issues and he listened to my concerns and conducted a number of tests. His diagnosis was spot on. He prescribed antibiotic/corticosteroid drops making sure I was not allergic to the medicine since I have many drug allergies. He explained that if the drops do not clear up my problems, I may require a surgery. After a week on the drops, he called me personally to ask how I was doing. read more

I took my daughter here for several months before getting entirely fed up. While his staff are friendly and efficient, and Dr. Liu is very polite and seemingly professional, he is incompetent and a liar - he cannot be trusted. He is one of those doctors that assumes his patients (or their parents) are idiots who couldn't possibly understand the details of his diagnosis or treatment approaches. He made assumptions about what was wrong with my daughter without actual evidence and in spite of contradicting evidence. He continued to insist he was right, without explanation or being able to provide any evidence that his diagnosis was correct, even after months of following his directions failed to solve or improve the problem. The last time I took my daughter there, he flat out lied to me. He told me he was prescribing her an antibiotic when in fact, he prescribed an anti parasitic with no antibiotic qualities whatsoever. He thought he could get away with this and pacify me (since his diagnosis had no evidence supporting it, his treatments were not working and I was clearly not happy). He assumed I was an idiot who doesn't know anything about medications or how they work. Since I am not an expert, I did verify my suspicions with the pharmacist and another doctor. He indeed lied, right to my face, about what he was having me give my daughter. Dr. Liu cares more about his ego than he does his patients. There are lots of doctors to choose from. Try someone else who you can hopefully trust to explain things thoroughly, admit when they might be wrong, and not lie to you. read more
