Bought a house built in 2004 with Jeld wen vinyl windows and doors - I'm the 2nd owner. I purchased the house knowing the windows had issues opening, they were tight. Figured it was something fixable. Called Jeld Wen just to be told that the lifetime Warranty is only applicable to the original owner. They said they would send a repair technician out to quote a repair for me, but only if I pay a $85 fee. $85 fee that I have to pay to get a repair quote from you?? Come to find out the windows were defective - every single window in the house that opened/closed! Also, one 'fixed' window leaks between the panes. I'm perfectly fine with replacing the windows, since I bought the house knowing there was a tightness issue, but based on the poor quality of these windows that are less than 13 years old, I will certainly never buy JeldWen windows for this or any other house! I could understand maybe one or even two defective wondows, but a whole house full? Sounds like a major manufacturing QA issue, or maybe just careless disregard for selling quality products. By the way, the white vinyl on the outside of the windows stains easily....lots of stains that we cannot remove - poor workmanship, poor materials - amazing that these products are sold! read more

Without a doubt the most defective windows available in the residential market. The insulation between the panes on almost every window and door has failed resulting in the fogging and moisture accumulation. At first, customer service was cooperative. Then abruptly, the service representative stopped answering her phone, returning my calls and responding to my email messages. That has been the situation for two months. Contacted Jeld-Wen about the failure of the plastic piece on the door threshold. Got one call, but no message, got another call and a message. I am hearing impaired without the TYY service, so I called and explained it to the gal that answered the customer service number they gave me, Explained about being hearing impaired, gave my claim number, and gave my email address to be contacted in regards to the broken threshold piece. It has been a week since the call and no email from Jeld-Wen, so I figure that their customer service is not existent for those that need to communicate other than by telephone. We bought the door and had it installed June 2018. I noticed the glass was cracked while the door was being installed. The installer was almost through. He took s picture of the cracked glass and emailed to Lowe's. He said they would be in touch soon. We kept calling Lowe's and they kept telling us they are waiting for Jeld-Wen to contact them. I finally called Jeld-Wen. In Jan 2019 Judy emailed me and made appointment to replace glass on 3/11. On 3/10 installer called and said they do not have the glass so they have to reschedule. I emailed Judy. She responded that I have appointment for 5/9/2019. This is unethical. You wait 2 months for fix and then they tell you 2 more months. I called customer service. They will try to get earlier appointment. I will provide update when I get a call back. Poor customer service. Why are they so sure I will be available 5/9? read more

OMG, I wish I read this site before ordering the door! It came, got installed: 1. The side glass palen has a fingerprint INSIDE the glass! 2. While cleaning up the dust, I was able to scratch the paint off the door with the cloth! It just tells you how good their paining job is. 2. A week went by and the door paint started to chip off! Never ever use them! Update 2 years later - the door actually started to fall apart in about 6 months. The pieces simply started to separate from each other. Since it was still on the warranty we ordered a new one after a very long process with the pictures of issues sent around. It took them 4 months to replace the door. A year have passed since then. The door seems to be OK, barely. about 1 month ago one of the strips at the bottom, that are supposed to be helping to close the door tight, fell off... read more

I have Jeld Wen Impact French doors leading to my patio in S Florida. The doors were installed in 2012 and since, I have needed one of the doors replaced, due to an issue with the glass. Jeld Wen sent a technician out and he handled the issue quickly and efficeintly. Since then, my Jeld Wen doors are showing some water damage in the wood area, between the metal impact panels. The doors were covered in a coat of pimer and paint and should not be showing signs of wood rot. I do not recommend these doors for the S Florida humidity and recommend going with a fiberglass type. read more

I ordered 3 French Doors to replace my old door walls. The doors came damaged and the contractor had difficulties installing those doors. Once they were installed we discovered that the lock on each of the 3 doors was broken. The knob spins and spins and spins. You have to open the door and hold the outside lock while pulling on the inside knob. It should have been relatively easy to get a fix, but no. Lowe's said that they are not responsible for the doors because they did not install them. Jeld-Wen has a terrible help line and I was only able to get through to them after 4 attempts and waiting for 45 minutes. They finally sent an email describing the numerous steps required to set up a 'ticket.' I responded immediately with invoices, explanations and photos. I have received no further response from Jeld-Wen. I am not sure if the signator was even a real person, as the email was signed 'Paige Snook.' Stay away from Jeld-Wen doors regardless of the upfront savings. You will be sorry. read more

I strongly recommend NOT purchasing these windows. My house was completed three (3) years ago, I have two failed windows which means they are leaking internally. My contractor is being run around the merry go-round and the windows came with a 20 year guarantee. LOOK elsewhere and I will not remove this post until my two (2) windows are replaced. read more

Customer service does not exist at Jeld Wen. I had a high end exterior door installed, which was ordered through Home Depot, in early October 2018. Though I clearly had ordered a "finished" door, this door was not. Only primer paint, open nail holes and screw holes. Contacted Home Depot and attempted contact of Jeld Wen the day after installation. The 17 page warranty from Jeld Wen explained that if the product was not received as ordered, a replacement product would be provided. Jeld Wen responded through Home Depot that I would need to provide photos of the door. During the next 4 months, Jeld Wen sent me a touch up paint kit with no explanation, and an advertisement of paint colors for doors with no explanation. Calls to Jeld Wen customer service were met with a discourteous and demeaning representative, which tried to make me believe that I could not identify the difference between a finished and unfinished product. Through all of this, I made it very clear that I did not want money back, I did not want a different door, I just wanted this door finished. Lets make this easy and move on. After 4 months, and 24 contacts, Jeld Wen would authorize a paint cost reimbursement through Home Depot. After signing the no fault disclaimer of Jeld Wen, Home Depot was able to cover the additional costs of the door being finished. Jeld Wen has no understanding of what customer service might be. read more

This is an update to the comment that I posted on 11/3 about the hollow molding on the fiberglass door I purchased. This case was brought to Jeld-Wen management team's attention, and reviewed by its production manager. Jeld-Wen decided it was a production mistake, and I had received the replacement door slab just before Christmas. I am really glad Jeld-Wen is willing to stand by its product quality and wanting to serve its customers. I think one thing Jeld-Wen can take away from this instance is that its Customer Care team needs to help its customers finding the root causes of their reported issues, and declining customer's claims must not be the first thing in their mind. In addition, I would like to recognize Bay Area Molding & Door for its wonderful service. After Jeld-Wen agreed to replace the defect door slab, both Brian and the owner, Bobby, were extremely supportive and scheduled the installation to accommodate my tight calendar. They sent their best technician Greg who spent 5 hours carefully installing the new door slab and the door lock. All these good work are under Bay Area Molding & Door's warranty. This is what I consider the best customer service in the industry. Thanks to both Jeld-Wen and Bay Area Molding & Door, and I have a beautiful door that my neighbors admire. read more

Another one star review for JELD-WEN - we've had a terrible experience with them! So this last summer, we purchased almost $75k of brand new custom JELD-WEN Siteline windows and sliding glass doors for our new house under construction. In the storms this winter, we had massive water leaks - roughly half of the windows leaked water inside the house! The windows obviously have been manufactured with defective workmanship. JELD-WEN even sent technicians onsite to leak test the windows, and every window they tested leaked water! In addition, JELD-WEN sold us windows that do not have a performance grade rating, making them noncompliant with California Building Code. The windows are undoubtedly and completely defective and need to be replaced with good windows. Naturally, JELD-WEN is being extremely difficult and doing everything in their power to avoid this. I had home depot install and exterior door from jeld-wen because when I a contractor tried to seal my old exterior door, he said it would not seal well since it has developed a warp, Therefore I purchase a new fiber glass exterior door made by Jeld-Wen from home depot and paid home depot to install it but after installation I realized that the new door has a warp similar to the old door, the installer from home depot performed a string test and realized that there is a warp in the door. I sent the picture of the performed string test to jeld-wen but they are refusing my claim because they say the warp is little less than 1/4 inch. I have installed other doors and windows from other companies such as Harvey and I never had any issues. How can a new door have the same defect as 15 year old door??? Save your money, most likely you would have much better luck with other manufacturer. read more

Jeld-Win sliding glass doors suck! I regret specifying Jeld Win Doors in a project and the doors are very poor quality especially the screens. Door Sill is way to flimsy which makes setting it within specifications difficult. The have WAY TOO MAY HOLES in the Sill and ask for you to put a fastener in each hole. I calculated the shear strength of the fasteners and there are like 10 x to many fasteners. Don't tighten them down either or you will get warpage of the Sill. My biggest problem is with the Screens. The frames are flimsy, the weatherstripping is not in the right place and the screen wheels abrade the track and this causes the door screens to Jam and rack and fall off the tracks. Further the astragal for the screen requires a tech screw to hold together the screen panels and this means you cant wash the windows without extraction the screw........what an amateur design!! This Jeld win product is total crap and I will NEVER use them again. It's way worth it to buy a higher quality product line like Win Door or better. Oh ya and the customer service has been poor as they are not responding after numerous calls and emails. Who ever is in charge at Jeldwin needs to wake up and stop the crappy product design. ILLINOIS -- WE bought a brand new custom built home that was constructed in 1999/2000. The home has Jeld-Wen wood clad windows. Our problems started with JELD-WEN windows six months after we purchased our home - rotting window frames, cracking weather stripping, one window with discolored inner space. Fortunately, the builder took care of rotting frames and cracking weather stripping, Since 2009 we have been experiencing a strange JELD-WEN induced weather phenomenon. Our kids sometime forget to close a window or two completely. Even the hardware used in these junk windows is so bad any gust of wind will launch those not so completely shut windows airborne. In 2009, the window landed on our neighbors bush and we needed Left Opening Arm and track. This happened in the middle of winter and after repeated calls, the customer service sent Right Opening Arm and no track. Mind you JELD-WEN exorcised 'Lifetime Warranty' from its business communications. A month ago, the same window gets airborne and grudgingly called JELD-WEN customer service three weeks ago paid almost $27.00 for a Left Opening Arm and track to be shipped by FedEx. Numerous e-mails and telephone calls later - I decided to not to have anything to do with this poor excuse for an Americana based business. Absolute Junk for products - Neanderthal manned customer service - total absence of pride in what they do for a living. read more

Do yourself a favour and simply AVOID these guys. It took 2 months for two wardrobes to get installed. Countless delays first to get the timber and parts, then on the first visit, the fitter realised the guy who had taken the measurements didn't take accurate measures and could only install one of the wardrobes only. So we arranged to work from home one day the week after and got a call 30 minutes after the time the fitter was supposed to get there only to find out his car had broken down. Exact same thing happened the next day and finally on the third day, I get a call saying the car is good to go but the fitter is sick. They however had another guy come but he rocked up WITHOUT A DRILL! And to top it off had to go to Bunnings which took him an hour return because he didn't have enough screws. This company is made up of a bunch of complete amateurs. This is just a quick summary of some of the issues I have but is only the tip of the iceberg. This could go on for pages! Do not waste your time with Jeld-Wen. I bought one of their exterior doors. 1) Installed by their certified installer. 2) Door sweep began tearing off and called within their one year warranty. 3) Second installer came out and replaced it noting initial install was great. 4) Sweep begins to tear again. 5) Spoke with Jenny G. who sent a sweep that was incorrect for me to install. 6) Called and spoke with Mike who said he would send correct one. 7) After sweep does not show up I call back and find out they do not stock it. 8) I am told that door is out of warranty, was likely installed correctly both times and even though the door shut fine I should have checked and adjusted the threshold. So it is my fault?!? The message I hear is the product is junk and sorry it is out of warranty. Good luck if you decide to buy. read more

We recently built a large extension. We only made one enormous mistake, and that was using Jeld Wen windows. We fitted about 11 of the new conservation style sash windows. The design was lovely but the quality appallingly bad. Half the sashes did not fit. Some will not open, others open but do not close. The frets (glazing bars) bonded to the glass have started to fall off. In some cases you can even see daylight between the sash and frame. The paint was damaged. One of the handles bent. This is bad enough, but the customer service is even worse. They say they will remanufacture the sashes, but then have just gone silent. Months have past. read more

Be very aware that if you order Jeld-Wen's Madison door that is sold as a shaker door! It is NOT a true shaker door as it is molded and therefore unable to get the 90 degree profile where the trim meets the door. This gives a very flat appearance to the door. This was not explained to me by my salesmen and now I have $6000 worth of doors that make me want to cry! We will slowly go back one by one and replace these ugly slab doors with a true shaker solid core mdf door from another manufacturer. Can't even begin to put into words my disappointment in these doors. Should NOT be called shaker style. read more

We purchased $1K Jeld Wen bedroom doors via Home Depot 3+ months ago.1st delivery had deep damages and bad construction (graining) - we sent it back. 6 weeks later - 2nd delivery has deeper damages - and today we sent it back. We will get our money back and never buy this brand again. Obviously shoddy construction and very poor packaging for shipping. Dear, Jeld-wen Hello I am a customer that ordered a $3,597 special order front door for our new house from home depot. We ordered the door 8-22-16 because Home Depot was running a special even tho we would not be ready for the front door until now. Home Depot told us it had a warranty through Jeld Wen. Once the door arrived at Home Depot they then delivered the door to us. Once the door was delivered we left it in its original crate all boxed up. A few days ago we went to open the door and do the install and noticed several issues with the door. First the bottom jam bent, second the top molding was bent right off, also the bottom weather seal was ripped. I then went to home depot and expressed my concerns they said there was nothing they could do. So I was forced to buy and new bottom jam and hire a door expert to fix the jam, trim and weather seals. I am very disappointed in the customer service. Building a new house is stressful enough not to mention opening your $3,597 front door to find out its damaged is just to much. This is the worst company ever! I ordered my French Patio doors on May 17th 2017. Today is July 17th and I still haven't received my doors. And there is no definitive date yet. I called up there corporate office and most door specialist were nice. Kelly and Steven were extremely rude. There justification for all this was that I'm not the only that's going through this as if to say join the club and be quiet! I paid these doors in full and now will be getting a refund from Home Depot. They caused my family and I so much hardship being that we needed to get a CO for the house and couldn't get the inspection done. Ultimately I had to cancel. Worst door EVER!!! If only I could give it zero stars. They didn't build it correctly (per the written specs). Of course we had a hole in the front of our house when it was delivered, so returning it wasn't an option. Furthermore, the door is terrible, terrible quality. It has cost us hundreds of dollars in contractor work to retrofit it, and it still doesn't seal (as in you can see daylight), and it build so cheaply. We contacted Jeld Win with our issues, and Home Depot contacted them on our behalf, and they couldn't care less that the door they delivered wasn't even the door we ordered, and that it was terribly built. Shame on the home improvement stores for forcing our business to them and shame on Jeld Win for their horrible products and TERRIBLE customer service. They can't go out of business soon enough. We purchased a Jeld Wen Pre hung French Patio Door from Home Deport The Dalles OR. Received it via their truck the next day. Immediately had a very professional Carpenter (Rick) who is the foreman for the best and largest fine home builder in the region install the door. Better said tried to install. The hinges we not level by nearly 1/2 inch. I contacted Home Depot TD for assistance and got the run around. I took the Door back to them that day. At first they said that Carpenter was "stupid" and didn't know how to install the replacement door" Rick had come with me and when HD saw who it was they profusely appologized and said Rick was the best installer in the region. He explained what had happened and they said they would have the Jeld- Wen rep there the next day. Needless to say no one showed up. HD would not replace the door without J-W input. NO ONE from J-W has every come out nor has anyone from HD. DON'T BUY JELD-WEN DOORS OR WINDOWS. YOU'LL BE SORRY. PS TO PLUG THE HOLE WE HAD TO MOVE ALL THE HINGES AND REFIT A NEW SEAL TO CLOSE UP THE SPACE. We're still waiting. read more

In 2002 I undertook a major renovation of my home in PEI, Canada. Kent building supplies handled both the construction and building materials for this job and installed Jeld-wen windows. This was a second story and garage addition. In 2012 virtually all the sealed glass had failed and after approaching Kent I was advised that under the warranty Jeld-wen would replace the sealed units (16 of them) but would not pay the labor. I went ahead and had them installed as advised by Kent. Fast forward only one year and all of these windows have now failed and once again Jeld-wen will replace the units but will not pay the labor costs. It seems really bazaar that my windows could need replacement annually due to poor quality control at Jeld-wen yet they will accept no responsibility for an obvious ongoing problem. I recently replaced a number of windows on the first floor of my house with Atlantic windows which have a parts and labor warranty. My advice...steer clear of Jeld-wen. There are plenty of manufacturers out there who back up their products with parts and labor warranties and step up when their products are defective. read more

I am not rating jeld wen as of yet, this is simply a rating on their solid core interior doors. I have been a contractor for 29 years. Lately every job i do with the solid core doors I have to come back and repair the same problem. The small screws in the door hinge loosen up and the thread bed gets loose and you can't tighten them. Longer screws do not help as you are just threading into Masonite. Why on gods green earth would they not put a solid pine plug where the hinges go. What were they thinking? These doors are extremely heavy. Baffled. I have been doing these repairs on my own dime, I have a couple of tricks of the trade that of been working which I choose not to expose. I have told the company that they will be responsible for any future warranty work. I will rate the company based on their diligence in this matter read more

I have a JELD-WEN door with a Auralast Jamb that has rotted away in the Auralast section where it meet the sill. Both jambs have rotted away. I contacted JELD-WEN and they refused to cover their product that has a lifetime warranty on the Auralast jambs. I will no longer recommend JELD-WEN as they do not stand behind their product and warranty. They claim that their Auralast jambs are rot proof and insect resistant. They might be insect resistant but not rot proof as they state. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM JELD-WEN DOORS!!! read more

After buying our house, one of the first things my husband and I wanted to do was change the front door and locks (to make us feel safer) We went down to Home Depot to check out the selection. While there we picked up a catalog for Jeld-wen doors, were throughout the catalog is an option for Twin 3/4 lite doors. After making multiple trips to Home Depot to figure out how to get this door, I call the company my self to get a quote, and they refused to help me. I had to talk through a third party, which talks down about the company saying "they are WAY over priced for their doors." after searching many door types, going with this company would be...well, just plain stupid, Jeld-wen is a poor choice for doors! read more

I had almost 30 wooden windows that I needed replaced and chose their wooden windows based on recommendations from my contractor and Home Hardware. 50 % of the windows ended up getting warranty repair work done. Their service department was not very responsive and everything took forever. My project ended up being delayed more than 6 months and costing thousands of dollars more than was planned because of this not to mention the aggravation, frustration and stress. While a few individuals were helpful and effective and I did get some repairs done I now have to live with them and the memories and given the original build problems am really concerned about the life of the product. Further, given what I am now reading about the company, it si likely they won't last to be able to honour any future warranty claims. Very disappointed. read more

After being very angry last week with Jeld-Wen for delaying my special order pre-hung door five months and then sending it installed upside down. I have to retrack most of it. I am still put off by the door being late five months and then comeing in upside down but I have to say that Jeld-wen took the challenge and sent me a new correctly made door in a very short period of time. I give thanks to their great customer service department at Jeld Wen that too charge. I recommend anyone having issues with the big box stores or other stores who sell Jeld Wen products and not getting action, cut to the chase and go right to the Jeld Wen customer service people. AWFUL!!! I ordered interior doors from Home Depot in Lewes, DE and not only did I NOT get the doors I wanted, the doors were damaged. When I contacted Home Depot and Jeldwen, I have received nothing but the run around. The doors are GARBAGE and there customer service is far less than that. Several of my neighbors have come over to see the renovation we are doing and have asked about my experiences since they are also planning on updating their homes.
