I've been going to Jenae for quite a while so this review is very overdue. Jenae literally took me and my hair in off the street one day many years ago and transformed it into the long, shiny, natural tresses I never knew I had buried under of unnecessary chemical relaxers, dryness, split ends and bad haircuts. Jenae is a genius with a flat iron and a blowdryer and I get so many compliments on my hair when I go in to see her. From classic bobs and lobs to my currently long hair, she knows how to keep my hair healthy with deep conditioning treatments and trims and has really taken the time to get to know my hair and what makes it look its best. She's definitely stayed current on the best treatments for my hair and her craft of stylish 'dos. Visiting her studio is great because it's a private room within a salon complex that she keeps nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Her prices are very reasonable and parking is easy in the lot which makes for completely stress-free appointments. Other hairstylists need not apply because Jenae is MY hairstylist! read more

Jenae is amazing! My hair is natural and I hadn't straightened it in over a year so naturally I was a bit worried about heat damage. Jenae is super skilled and made me feel at ease as soon as she started working on my hair. She gave me some great advice on how to best care for my dry ends and how to best maintain my silk press. My hair looked and felt amazing for days! And once I washed my hair, my curls bounced right back - surprisingly they felt more luscious and bouncy which may be due to the deep conditioning treatment I got at Jenae's as well as her product recommendations I took to heart! Jenae knows what she is doing. I found her in 2016 after a break-up with my long-time 8+ year stylist. I love that she doesn't use a lot of heat when she's blow drying and straightening my hair. Before going to Jenae, I had grown accustomed to feeling heat radiating from my scalp when getting my hair done. I had no idea such smooth and lasting results were possible with barely-there heat. Jenae showed me the difference. She has maintained the health of my hair through relaxers and now as I am transitioning out of them. And in terms of styling, I always feel like a better version of "me" when I get out of her chair. Feeling good about how I look is fantastic therapy :) The added bonus is that I never have to wait or be shuffled among other clients with simultaneous appointments. I'm so grateful for the positive Yelp reviews that led me to this hidden gem! I've been searching many years to find a stylist who specializes in healthy hair. It's amazing that in LA where there's a salon on every corner, how hard it is to find a stylist who specializes in hair care. I feel like a great style is pointless if it burns out and damages your hair. I've never wanted to hide under weaves and braids because I was embarrassed of my own hair, but for many years I did just that. I reached a point where I got fed up and simply wanted to embrace what God gave me. All I needed was a stylist to help me reach my hair goals. After my first 10 minutes in Jenae's chair I knew I found a keeper! She didn't just ask what style I wanted and proceed with getting me out her salon. She actually took the time out to analyze the condition of my hair and provide suggestions to help me grow it out. She addressed my concerns and asked my goals. I couldn't believe it - no other stylist has ever approached my hair in that way. The entire process was simply wonderful. Jenae was on time, professional, and expressed genuine concern regarding my damaged hair. She helped me with a regimen for maintenance for when I'm not in the salon, and even made suggestions for vitamins I could take (which she conveniently provided in her salon). To top everything off my hair looked beautiful when she finished!!! Bouncy, shiny, and it even smelled great! Love her. She's gentle, down to earth, calm, stylish, professional and knowledgeable. I love my hair when she's done. I like the way she interprets my personality in my hair. And MY RELAXERS DONT BURN! Her salon location is very nice nestled in amongst retail, restaurants and a movie theater. Just know if you park in the garage don't go over the time limit, 2 hours I think, or parking is 11$ with validation. It has nothing to do with J I know, but I don't like paying for all this parking. It's so hard to find someone in Los Angeles who knows how to do a relaxer and do it well. It's also very hard to find a stylist that is into healthy hair and hair care. It's easy to schedule an appointment online with prices listed, so there are no surprises. Now about Jenae...I have trusted my hair to Jenae for over 7 years, and my hair has consistently been healthy for over 7 years. Coincidence? I think not, Jenae is an excellent and knowledgeable stylist. Her core philosophy on haircare - that great hair starts from within - is a great foundation to build upon for healthy hair. Jenae has a holistic approach and is very mindful about the products that she uses and the products she recommends. I have mixed hair and find that a relaxer is the easiest way to control it. Although, I know relaxers aren't the healthiest for the hair, Jenae is conscious about putting back into my hair what the relaxers strip away. I usually see her for a relaxer, trim and style. I've thought this over for weeks, and I really feel that it will help others make an informed decision. Jenae is a very talented hair stylist, one of the best...and if that's all that mattered, the rating would be 5. I had issues with her scheduling app, and as I checked her availability, the app scheduled me. When I canceled an appointment I didn't want to make the app charged me! SO, I opted to not go through the app the next time and Jenae complied. She also forgot about my appointment. Over an hour after I headed home in the middle of traffic (hair undone) and finally reached her she said it was actually my fault and that's why she uses the app. Which prompted a discussion. Months later I returned, no further issues. For my last session I arrived a bit early for my 1:15 appointment, and she came out into the hall saying her previous customer was 20 minutes late and she was now running behind and I could go have a coffee. Well, I didn't want to go have coffee. When I finally got in over 20 minutes later I asked if she could please contact me next time and let me know when she's running behind since my time is valuable too. Easy right? A huge argument ensued as to how late she actually was, not her fault, rarely if ever late, emails...and I stopped dealing. Not worth my time. A little humility goes a long way.
