Very pretty and peaceful to visit. It is a bit of an incline coming back up to the parking lot.

Random first thought on entering the parking lot: I've never been to a place like this where the education center is the same size as the actual arboretum. Jokes aside, while that hyperbole is of course not true, thematically it is. As another Yelper pointed out, this is not Tyler or Morris by a long shot. This is basically a small down and back loop with a few short side trails that crisscross the main path, Jenkins Road. The below is a good map that shows that every trail they have here is 1/4 mile or less (sometimes much less) and that the main path is paved blacktop. www.jenkinsarboretum.org/visit/map/ During our 75ish minutes here, we didn't see anyone (I didn't expect to considering it was a Friday afternoon in winter still with snow on the ground) and the parking lot was nearly empty. A beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature. Paved pathways that are clear of debris. Difficult hill to walk for those who may have balance issues or are elderly. The grounds are stunning. Make sure to allow time to soak in all the beauty. Noticed little critters in the undergrowth and so many butterflies. If you have kids, check out the adventure guides and explorer vests! The littles I was with really loved all the gear the vests came with (binoculars, magnifying glass, butterfly id guide). You can even visit a little gift shop with live native plants and cute little gifts. Photos are from late July. read more

Nice gem a few miles outside the city limits but worth a gander. The grounds are beautiful and generally easy to negotiate but, if you have a wheelchair etc., check for other arboretums that are specifically accessible. Opening day was crowded but everything flowed, mask wearing and social distancing was in full effect. From the entrance to the body of water everywhere was well maintained and a beautiful sight. The staff was informative and helpful. I was given an overview of things and a stamp in my American Garden Capital Passport. This book lists details about gardens in the tri-state area. Everything about the Jenkins Arboretum is inviting and peaceful! read more

We joined Jenkins Arboretum to take Tai Chi and it was a great disappointment. The class was mostly women who did not welcome newcomers or couples--there were essentially no men in the class. There was a lot of gossip by the members including the instructor Aimee who was by far the worst teacher we have ever had -- we did not progress much with her. We will drop our membership. Overall, it was a bad experience. read more

A beautiful hidden gem in Wayne. The employees in the info center are kind and provided great education on the history of the garden. The entirety of the trails take a fairly quick amount of time to go through. I believe it is under 2 miles to walk the entire thing. I would love to go again when more flowers are blooming! read more

This is a great little find right in the heart of the Main Line! Free to enter, it's a cute area filled with beautiful plant life of different sorts, as well as a charming pond in the middle. We stopped by on a Saturday morning and enjoyed our time walking through the different trails and taking pictures of all the trees and flowers! For COVID-19, seems they've done a few things to keep everyone safe - there are signs everywhere reminding people to maintain distance and wear masks, and the main building is closed, with the plant shop set up outside. We would totally come back to check it out again, especially to see it in different seasons! read more

I like that this arboretum is very well manicured, and there's many intersecting walking paths you can take. It's clear that they put a lot of effort at maintaining and financing into this location, and everything seems renovated and new. They have a decent variety of trees and plants, and while there are many duplicates I feel like they laid out the walking paths and different sections in a nice way. It's not a huge place so you probably won't spend all day there, but it's a very nice place to visit and take a walk. read more

What a delightful surprise! First, it's free, who can beat that? Second, employees were enthusiastically helpful (unlike so many places anymore). Third, altho we expected to spend about an hour there, given the short length of the walking paths (about a mile), we were there for over 2 hours, enjoying the azaleas, rhododendron, and a wide variety of other plants. A beautiful pond, surrounded by grass and benches, is where we spotted several turtles sunning themselves. Had we thought to bring a picnic, we would have enjoyed it in such a relaxing place. read more

Great place to have a stress relief walk. Beautiful place that is well maintained. Wearing face mask is a must. Not sure why people choose to disrespect the sign and walk around without wearing a face mask, when others are doing their part. We will come more often since we live close by. read more

Very walkable and accessible for the elderly and / or disabled, and Jenkins is the best at that feature of all local arboretums I've visited. Mostly, it's because this arboretum is not very big, and visitation is engineered to be a cement-path-walking experience. For those more active, it does not take long to fully explore, and there is not much "off-path" to encounter. This is the smallest of local arboretums I've been to (Morris, Scott, Tyler, etc.), so it was disappointing in that sense. Also, compared to the others, the species of trees did not seem as interesting or diverse. It backs onto N Valley Forge Rd, which is pretty busy, and the car noise car be heard from certain spots made to look like a "tranquil" bench to sit on, etc., but which are not-so-tranquil with traffic sounds. It's decent for a short walk, but is not big enough to take up a fair amount of time, so it's not worth it if you are travelling from a distance and aiming to make this your main destination. I'd recommend Morris, Tyler, or Scott arboretums (in that order) for more to see and do. read more

Sweet little spot tucked away and waiting to be discovered! Paths are easy and paved and plenty of signs to indicate single or bi-directional foot traffic. There are reminders to stay distant and masked, but adherence to this requirement is spotty (not unlike most parks nowadays). It's not very large and would not take long to fully explore, but we took our time to wander and soak it in so we spent about 2 hours total. Throughout there are a few benches/chairs to relax and sit as well. The center is closed, but the bathroom facilities are accessible if needed. read more

We were in the area for a wedding and had some time to kill on our way back to the airport. Easy to find with GPS, plenty of parking. All the employees were friendly and it's clean. I'm giving this 3 stars because I wasn't thrilled with the amount of walking trails and views. We ended up repeating our paths previously taken. It looked huge from the outside and I thought we would see way more. I found it to be geared more towards children not adults. We walked everything in an hour. I felt $15 was a bit much for what we saw. I'm not saying don't go, just don't expect too much. Thank you. read more

It's FREE and it's just gorgeous in springtime to see the Azaleas here (and aklso at the Morris and Tyler arboreutms.) Lots of parking - and less crowded, less well-known than Tyler or Morris, the Jenkins Arboretum is a great place to commune with nature and get your filll of big, old trees - and younger smaller ones. Take a camera! (Or bring a book and sit on a bench.) Nice for kids - but a little more sedate (or in kid-speak boring) than Morris. Our little one likes the pond though - she saw a turtle which made her day. read more

This is a great place for a calm walk for romance or with baby. The species are not crazy-exotic, so I wouldn't come here for the botany if you are a true connoisseur. But if you're just looking for a place to spend some lovely time outdoors, it's great. Be aware that there's not really anyplace to sit, lounge, picnic, etc. There are only narrow walking paths. I believe there are 1.2 miles of paths so don't plan on a 3-hour hike either. It takes about 20 minutes to walk the whole grounds unless you are with a toddler, elderly lady, etc. The arboretum does have a modern and well-kept building with restrooms, water fountains, a small plant shop, info desk and gift shop. I was amazed that this place was not charging admission. read more

I ventured here on a cool spring day with a friend. It's a cute suburban getaway that's simple and small, easily doable in 30 minutes to an hour. Just wander through the few themed walks (Azalea Hill is particularly pretty) and enjoy the nature that surrounds you. There's a beautiful pond at the lower end of the hills, where you can see bog plants, turtles and fish. Close to the ample parking is a fantastic, new garden center, where greeters give you self-guided tours. Perfect for families or a nice stroll with that special someone. Nice, well-maintained, extensive public garden. No frills -- just paved paths through greenery. There is a pond with small fish and turtles, but you can't get too close to it. My two-year-old son loved it. It's definitely manageable with kids. Ample parking and free admission, which is definitely a bonus. read more

This is the second arboretum I have ever been to, its also the closest to my house. The first one I went to was actually Villanova's campus before it got its accreditation taken away my sophomore year. Its not to big, kinda small actually i think pegged at 16 acres, very walkable and has different sections displaying different kinds of trees and flowers. The pond is a very nice area to relax and sit on one of the benches thinking about the past and how tranquil life must have been before the advent of all the technology we humans use tonight. I always appreciate coming here once every blue moon and taking in the beauty of nature, the sounds of cars sometimes take me out of zone but still, this place is nice. read more

My sister and I enjoyed a lovely stroll (not too hot) last Friday afternoon. The entire property is very clean and well maintained. We were greeted by the receptionist as soon as we entered the welcome center. She informed us of the various plants and flowers we would see as we walked around the grounds. We especially enjoyed the many different colors of azaleas that we saw. There weren't very many flowers in bloom, due to the summer season but everything is so lush and green that it is all very pretty to look at anyway. Much of the paths are very steep so I wouldn't recommend this for stroller folks or elderly people. This Florida transplant is used to straight and flat walkways! The receptionist very cheerfully rang up our purchases from the gift shop. It was a very nice way to spend 90 minutes while our other sister whom we were visiting finished work for the day. Will be back if I'm in the area again. read more

a nice, well-kept, ecologically sustainable arboretum. my only gripe is that its so paved and sterile. you're walking on paved paths with cute, metal butterflies on the trees. I personally prefer a more pristine, rustic, get some mud on my shoes type of place when immersing myself in the environment. read more

A beautiful stop on our way around the area. My wife and I saw some beautiful flowers, azaleas, rhododendrons, and other flowering brush. There is a lot of walking up and down, but it's a wonderfully pretty walk and serene on a Sunday after church and lunch (2015-05-03). We would have liked to go down by the pond, but it was quite a hill. The walkways we were on were all asphalt which probably makes them great for folks with strollers or wheelchairs. We really liked how there are lots of signs and tags to tell us novices what we were looking at! read more
