I gave this little hole in the wall place 5 starts because of the amazing food & service. It doesn't look like much when you walk in but get ready for a delicious meal and wonderful service. This place has been here for a while and they just want to serve a good meal with no frills. They'll promptly greet you when you walk in the door. Take a seat and make your pick off the menu. We opted to share the chicken fried steak with mash potatoes & green beans. Portions were plentiful and they were kind enough to split the portions in the kitchen before serving so we each got our own plate full of deliciousness. These are real homemade sides, nothing out of a can! The green beans were soft and flavorful and the mashed taters were fluffy and thick that would stick to the ceiling if you tossed them up! Lol! Try the cracklins! OMG! Fresh made to order! Buy by the lb of specific dollar amount. Overall a delicious food experience. We will definitely be stopping in again when in the area. Jenn's is a no frills cafe attached to a no frills "casino" (converted warehouse with poker machines) There is no ambiance. Take out is encouraged. I grabbed a couple of piping hot crawfish pies, not because I like crawfish pie, but because I would love to find one that was as good as it sounds. The search continues. While the pie crust was superb, and price was very reasonable, filling was skimpy. Given that I'm not a huge fan of crawfish, perhaps the hint of filling was better. read more

On our way back through Vinton Louisiana we decided to stop off and try this little gem. While the outside doesn't look like much, don't judge the book by its cover. Absolute best crawfish pie I've ever had!! The gumbo & potato salad was excellent, the rue perfect, not too dark and the Boudin balls and Cracklins are unbelievable!!I would highly recommend stopping off at this little place if you're in the area. My husband, daughter, dog, and myself just left this place! We heard they had really good jambalaya, but they had just sold out of it before we got there. Too bad because everything else we did have was very tasty! We started out with fried pickles, gator balls, and a grilled cheese and fries. I love fried pickles, but I must say that those gator balls had fantastic flavor! I could have done just fine with two orders of those :) best gator I've tried. Husband loved them as well. Get them. I also ordered the seafood gumbo. Again, great flavor and a kick! Came with rice and a potato salad. I added the rice to my gumbo and hardly had enough room for the potato salad... I was so full! Husband got the fried shrimp poboy and he said that was good as well. The name on the receipt said Amanda. I hope that was our servers name, I didn't ask to confirm. Very friendly, nice conversations! We asked her about cracklins because we've never had them and she brought us a portion to try after she explained what they were. Yum! We ordered shrimp ettoufee and it was not your typical dark roux sauce it was a tomato sauce. Was not good, it was edible. We also ordered shrimp po boy typical frozen popcorn style shrimp. Nothing out of this world. The bathrooms were both out of order. Not much choice in this little town. Wish I would have seen the subway across the road. read more

We traveled from Texas headed to Mississippi and stopped at this little gem that was right next to a casino. The staff was welcoming and super friendly. Since we were on our way to a dog show they even gave our dogs come cracklings to take for them. The food was super fresh and a lovely taste of Louisiana. The boudin was awesome, I ended getting the chicken fried steak sandwich which was super tender. It was embellished with a jalapeños mayo. It was delicious and not too spicy so it garnished the sandwich perfectly. The fries were also fresh and delicious. Highly recommend if you come across this southern diner. read more

I did not eat there. Hopefully the food is good, but because it is attached to a casino it is quite smokey. We are sensitive to smoke and that won't work for us. this small place was perfect as a sit down home style restaurant i 100 and 10% recommend this place if you want some food that is good and won't make your stomach hurt while you finish your trip where ever your going like other on the road fast places do I personally got a patty melt. Deciding to try something new before heading to the casino, and I remembered seeing this place right as you exited on the right. I say this because on the map it has it further inward, so keep that in mind. I came after the lunch crowd so the place was starting to clear out. After glancing at the menu for a second, a friendly waitress appeared to take my order. I asked what she recommended and she was super friendly from the start and told me the most popular item was the po-boy. Please keep in mind there were only 2 ladies working at the moment and both of them really took the time to see if I needed anything. Service gets 5 stars for great smiles, recommendations and little small talk. I decided on the 6" fish po-boy with fries. What I received had to have been one of the best fish po-boys I have eaten to date. The bread was crunchy on the exterior and soft in the middle, it was that perfect delicious French bread Louisiana is known for. The fish had just come out of the fryer and had a crispy and flaky texture that was perfect for the po-boy. It was dressed with lettuce, tomato and I believe some sort of mayo, to be honest I inhaled that sandwich so fast that honestly it's hard for me to say if it was just mayo. Jenn's is so good! It was a convenient spot to eat dinner while staying in the area. The porkchop was very tender and flavorful, and paired very well with the mashed potatoes and green beans. This is our go to lunch spot when we're traveling from Texas to Louisiana. The crawfish pies are to die for, but everything we've eaten here is delicious. Definitely try to boudin balls. The fried fish and shrimp are very fresh. This is a mom and pop shop. They are always courteous and helpful. It is a very casual atmosphere. read more
