    Cracklins

My husband, daughter, dog, and myself just left this place! We heard they had really good jambalaya, but they had just sold out of it before we got there. Too bad because everything else we did have was very tasty! We started out with fried pickles, gator balls, and a grilled cheese and fries. I love fried pickles, but I must say that those gator balls had fantastic flavor! I could have done just fine with two orders of those :) best gator I've tried. Husband loved them as well. Get them. I also ordered the seafood gumbo. Again, great flavor and a kick! Came with rice and a potato salad. I added the rice to my gumbo and hardly had enough room for the potato salad... I was so full! Husband got the fried shrimp poboy and he said that was good as well. The name on the receipt said Amanda. I hope that was our servers name, I didn't ask to confirm. Very friendly, nice conversations! We asked her about cracklins because we've never had them and she brought us a portion to try after she explained what they were. Yum! We also got some cake Togo- Sock it to me cake lol We will definitely stop by here when traveling to Louisiana next time! Thank you for the hospitality!

    Southern Restaurant with Louisiana cuisine

We traveled from Texas headed to Mississippi and stopped at this little gem that was right next to a casino. The staff was welcoming and super friendly. Since we were on our way to a dog show they even gave our dogs come cracklings to take for them. The food was super fresh and a lovely taste of Louisiana. The boudin was awesome, I ended getting the chicken fried steak sandwich which was super tender. It was embellished with a jalapeños mayo. It was delicious and not too spicy so it garnished the sandwich perfectly. The fries were also fresh and delicious. Highly recommend if you come across this southern diner.

Deciding to try something new before heading to the casino, and I remembered seeing this place right as you exited on the right. I say this because on the map it has it further inward, so keep that in mind. I came after the lunch crowd so the place was starting to clear out. After glancing at the menu for a second, a friendly waitress appeared to take my order. I asked what she recommended and she was super friendly from the start and told me the most popular item was the po-boy. Please keep in mind there were only 2 ladies working at the moment and both of them really took the time to see if I needed anything. Service gets 5 stars for great smiles, recommendations and little small talk. I decided on the 6" fish po-boy with fries. What I received had to have been one of the best fish po-boys I have eaten to date. The bread was crunchy on the exterior and soft in the middle, it was that perfect delicious French bread Louisiana is known for. The fish had just come out of the fryer and had a crispy and flaky texture that was perfect for the po-boy. It was dressed with lettuce, tomato and I believe some sort of mayo, to be honest I inhaled that sandwich so fast that honestly it's hard for me to say if it was just mayo. The fries were Cajun seasoned and perfectly cooked. The only bad thing is that I should have gotten the 12".

Great spot to stop to pick up some boudin to go. We've stopped many times and never been disappointed. They will heat it up for you and also give your some boudin dipping sauce. The flavor is on point and you just get some good old boudin.

The Boudin links were a great appetizer. The pork chop was also very good but the green bean side was still cold out of the can.

The restaurant was decorated as you would expect a good Cajun restaurant to be decorated in. Service was nice and friendly and you order at the register and they bring your food to you. Service was great even after we got our food. A server asked us if we needed refills and if we wanted them in to-go cups, which scored bonus points with me! Here's what I had on this lunch visit: The crawfish pistollette (8/10) which was a small appetizer that was bread with some crawfish etouffee on top. Bread was nicely cooked and the etouffee on top was delicious. Solid starter! The Cajun Cooking Sampler (9/10) - this was a sampler with 3 amazing dishes. I got the shrimp and crab gumbo, which is classic Louisiana gumbo and it was outstanding! The sampler also had a bowl of crawfish etouffee which was good but felt it needed a bit more etoufee to mix with the rice. Lastly, the special of the day was fish courtbouillon which was a fish in tomato based sauce over rice. I really enjoyed this as the fish has a great texture and there was a lot of flavor in the sauce. Overall, solid lunch meal in the $ to $$ range depending on what you order. Recommend you trying it for a great Cajun experience!

From the direction we drove in from it looks like a tiny parking lot with 10 spaces. Someone was pulling out so we got front row parking. There is a MASSIVE parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. Saturday Night 6:07- party of 2. The order and seating process is unusual. Place your order at the counter and they tell you which area to sit in. We were eating at 6:17. That's unreal. Alligator bites ($13) Shrimp tacos ($10) and Shrimp w/ crab gumbo. ($10) 2x miller lite ($7) dinner for 2- $45 Everything was absolutely amazing. I've read reviews where the people complained that the food was bland. And other people complained that the foods were too salty. I have zero complaints. We were completely satisfied. Thanks to Apple Maps and Yelp for helping us make this decision. We were only in for a wedding and wanted a unique experience that was local- not a chain.

Liked it even though it was different. The corn I could tell they put 29 sticks of butter and seasoning. Also good. The brisket patty was great. Their bbq sauce is very similar to jack millers but it was like a good church bbq burger. Good thick burger. The boudin is where I'd say skip. Tried the smoked and I liked how it was subtle smoke flavor but the boudin is dry and just ok. It's enough to tease you till you get to lafayette to get some real boudin. Grabbed a lemon ooey gooey and the ingredients is a Stephen king novel. Oh well wanted dessert. Didn't try it but it's lemon always good. All in all not a bad place for a quick stop
