We had a great experience with Jennifer! The entire adoption process was much better than we expected based on our encounters with other rescues. Many of them never acknowledged our application. Some required a fenced in yard and/or another dog in the family. We had become very discouraged. Jennifer contacted us soon after she received our application. She offered suggestions on the dog she felt would be a good fit for us but let us make the final decision. We are very pleased with our new family member and we highly recommend Jennifer. read more

Thank God for these reviewers. I was scheduled to go meet a puppy from her. Her red flag of meeting in a parking lot and needing $300 in cash sent me looking for more. And these reviews shook me to my core. Then I questioned her about her history of sick and dead dogs. Her response floored me. I personally will not he taking the risk of getting a very sick dog. People looking for dogs are vulnerable and she knows it. I personally could not handle it if any of the stories below happened to me. Fantastic organization!!! I've adopted several times from Jennifer's Pet Rescue and have always had the most wonderful experience. They are honest, upfront with any issues as these are dogs rescued from animal control shelters and with that, it's impossible to know what type of trauma they may have had in their past. Jennifer's Pet Rescue goes above and beyond to care for those in their Rescue and to place them in the BEST home environment for that particular Pet. Not every home is suitable for every dog and JPR understands that. I truly appreciate everything about this small non-profit!! read more

The dog that I was interested in didn't have a formal name. When I tried to download and complete the application on numerous occasions, it didn't allow me to. So, I sent a formal email including several of my personal details that these applications require and informed her of the difficulty that I experienced. When I received her response, it was RUDE and SHORT telling me that personal emails aren't permitted, the app must be completed not on a phone, and the dogs name must be specified. I then downloaded Microsoft office just to complete the app, for her to respond back in less than 25 min to tell me the puppy was unavailable. I would not recommend this business to anyone after my experience and also reading these other reviews! read more

I adopted a German Shepherd on 9/23/18. I brought him to Indianapolis for dog training but first took him to Vet to get him started on heartworm therapy. The vet immediate diagnosed him with a heart murmur and Patent Ductus Arteriousus. This needs thousands of dollars of surgery and diagnosis of how bad the damage is. This congenital heart defect is reversible if caught in time. Apparently he was looked at by several vets. You can see and feel his heart murmur. There is no way it was not noticed. This has been VERY tramatic experience in adopting this poor boy. She does not get the pet's vetted before adopting them out under her because she cannot afford it. read more

This woman does not care about the animals AT ALL, she just wants to make a buck. She was rude multiple times in her emails, but we ignored the signs. We met a dog who was sweet, but our dog was not feeling it and got scared due to the thunder. We asked to meet again and she said there was no point. Her advice is to make sure the dogs don't kill each other and then take them home and figure it out. It won't be all rainbows and fairies. She then added that she pities us for having a dog scared of storms. She curtly said okay have a great night and stormed off, since she did not get her $200 in cash. Unprofessional, impolite, insulting, and utterly RUDE. Only cash plus not being able to see her facility in person, online, or in any photos is suspicious. She says she doesn't take pit mixes, but she clearly does and just tries to call them another mix. I feel bad for these dogs in her care because this woman is TERRIBLE! You can tell when people love to rescue animals, since I have dealt with many rescues. This woman is NOT one of those people. read more

I thought I would never be able to adopt a rescue dog. Many rescue organizations have 5 page applications with tons of red tape. Jennifer had dogs that needed homes and people who wanted pets to love. I don't think Jennifer does this for profit as other reviewers have claimed. My dog had been spayed and given a complete round of vaccinations. This would have easily cost me more than what I paid for the adoption fee. Choose this organization if you are eager to adopt and don't want to be run through a ringer! I would use this rescue group again in a heartbeat! read more

I almost NEVER write a review but felt compelled to in this case. I wish I had read these reviews before falling in love with one of the dogs on Jennifer's Pet Rescue site. I had to reach out to her several times before finally setting up a time to meet in the parking lot with $300 cash (I should have been alerted by this). The dog was handed over to us but not before having diarrhea which Jennifer didn't seem too concerned or surprised about. This dog had OBVIOUSLY had a litter or more of puppies but Jennifer tried to tell us that she hadn't (my vet assured me she had). She also said that she had noticed a discharge from her vagina while bathing her but passed it off as being a normal hormonal event for the 1st month after being spayed. When we got our new friend home she was urinating very frequently and only in short squats which I immediately recognized as symptoms of a urinary tract infection. We made an appointment the next day with our veterinarian. Upon examination it was found that this poor little dog had a MAJOR double ear infection (her ear canals were so swollen that the vet had a difficult time getting a QTipp inserted for a culture), a severe UTI and 2 strains of bacteria in her fecal sample (one of which is very transmissible - we have another dog). After $750 in tests and medications, which included 2 antibiotics, ear drops, a de-wormer, prednisone and probiotics) we took her home and have been treating her. When I contacted Jennifer she apologized and said she "slipped through the cracks". After reading other reviews I doubt that was the case. I don't know where she gets these poor animals or what, if any, vet checks them out before they are adopted but I am going to see if I can contact Pet Finders and encourage them to take her off their feed. read more

Great experience for adopting our 2 year old new furry family member. The description of the dog matched perfectly the personality and characteristics. I am disappointed at people claiming she flips puppies and takes them from their moms.... Do realize that animal control in a lot of places seek rescue services to get these dogs into homes and most dogs don't stay with their moms (just as we humans branch out from our parents). P. S. I bought a ten week old male cat from these people last weekend at petsmart. It says they have all these things done to the animal before they adopt them out. One of the items listed is , " Animal has been treated for fleas. " I did not feel any flea eggs or see any physical fleas on the animal until I had gotten home. My twelve year old spotted a flea on the animal. It is actually covered with them. Now for the first time in 5 years my house is infected with fleas. If I had known previously I could have quarantine the animal properly to not infect the rest of the house hold . Thanx , the 100 dollar cat has now gone up to 200.00 so far . Beware of this place so we can stop this lady from doing dirty business. If I could give negative stars I would. The worst I've ever experienced. I reached out to Jennifer about a dog of hers that I found on pet finder that I was really interested in. We set up a day and time to meet the dog, but in the meantime before the appointment I emailed her questions about the dog because it stated on her website that the dog was heart worm positive. That didn't bother me, but I had other questions that I wanted to know about the dog just so I have an idea of what he's like, his behavior, any medical conditions, if he's good with other dogs, etc. She didn't give me any feed back at all as if the dog was perfect and had no issues and replied "no nothing at all". That same day she changed on the website that the dog had been treated for heart-worm... okay thats sketchy. I had a bad vibe emailing her from the very beginning, but overall my best interest was in the dog and not Jennifer. I also asked for a few pictures of the dog. I asked her for 3 days in a row. Every day she kept saying she was "too busy", but made sure to tell me several times to bring $250 in cash when I came. The final day before almost meeting the dog I told her that I needed a picture of this dog or I wasn't going to come because the way she was communicating and relating information to me seemed very dishonest and unprofessional, nor did she follow through with my requests. I also confronted her about her lack of transparency with information about the dog and lack of follow though and she immediately canceled the appointment the day of and told me "good luck finding another dog". WOW. This woman is a liar & unprofessional. If you want a good experience adopting a dog I encourage you to go elsewhere. Adopting an animal is supposed to be a fun experience and bring joy to our lives as we welcome a new pet for the first time, but that's unfortunately not what I encountered at all with trying to adopt from Jennifer. She's a red flag. Just stay away. read more

Jennifer was quick to respond to my email and I adopted my dog the very next day. My dog is great, but Jennifer needs to be socialized. She is one of the rudest people I have come across in a long time. The day that I met my dog she was also meeting another adopter. I was asked to take 'my dog' to a grassy area and wait while she took care of paperwork for them. The leash she had on my dog was a choker leash and was so short I could not walk upright with him so I put the collar and leash THAT I WAS ASKED TO BRING on him so we could walk easier. I DID NOT take her leash off him so he was wearing his new collar AND the leash she put on him. This allowed me to not keep such a tight hold on the short leash she brought and I didn't have to stoop over. When she saw that I had put the collar and leash I brought on him she ran over and was extremely demeaning because I had done that. She was ranting something about the two finger rule (which I know and had made sure the collar fit properly already) and that I shouldn't have put the collar on him before the paperwork was complete. One: Why? Especially when I am already smitten and plan on adopting him. Two: If that's a rule, Jennifer, put it in your instruction email. Jennifer finishes with the first adopters and it's my turn. She informs me my dog does already have a microchip, but his previous owner did not respond to any of the messages or mail. I inquire if the information can be changed to my name as I really didn't want to inject him with another microchip if that could be avoided. She did say, yes, that it would be changed to my name, but that I wouldn't get anything about the name change. I guess because I was trying so hard to like her and I was still reeling from the recent rant about the collar and leash it didn't register with me that I would NOT receive a confirmation about the name change. I expect someone that does what she does to be overbearingly nice and was trying to decide whether she was in this for the right reasons. Anyway, today I made the mistake of sending her an email asking if I would be getting a notification on the name change on the microchip? Her response literally started this way, "I'm sure I explained this at the time of adoption." I just can't imagine corresponding with someone in that tone that has recently adopted an animal from me. Jennifer should be working in a prison with hardcore inmates and not with people that are looking for an addition to the family. read more

This was the end of March Recently we adopted a black GSD from Jennifer's Pet Rescue. We were told that he had been completely veted and had no health issues. He wouldn't walk for Jennifer and she claimed he didn't like walking on tile floors and had never been on a leash. They had to carry him into petsmart and carried him back to grooming to have his ears cleaned. She said he's healthy. He had been abused by the dog he lived with and crated for 20 hours a day. We took him outside and he walked for us but you could tell his gate was not right. Again she claimed he had been checked out by the vet. That nothing was wrong with him. We adopted him anyways because she would have he had him euthanized and he's so sweet. Took him home were he would only sleep and would not walk. Took him to the vet where he had been before he had a massive ear infection in both ears (Dr said he had never seen ears so bad) and was given 3 prescriptions. At this point he still wouldn't walk. I asked the Dr how could they say the dog was completely healthy. He went and checked and to find out our dog came in but in a large kennel. He didn't get up or out of the kennel. They gave him 2 shots and he left. So they didn't know that he was in bad shape. But according to Jennifer he was completely checked out by the vet and healthy. 3 weeks have since passed. His ears are better but he has major issues. He is special needs . He has fine motor issues. Has trouble getting up and down. Chases his tail and barks nonstop. He has some cerebellum issues. When we pet him on his left side he shakes and falls. I would never recommend adopting a pet from her because she is not a truthful person all she does is lies. Update 5/16/16 He has been getting more and more aggressive. He has bitten Ken and myself. Constantly attacks us. He has an average of 100 episodes of tail chasing aggression a day (seizures). Now when we touch him anywhere on his body he shakes and falls. He is loosing his hair and doesn't have any on his paws from dragging them. He's lost 10 pounds. I have spent many Saturday's watching Jennifer's Pet Rescue adopt out many animals. A lot of them are lethargic. I don't know how anyone with a heart can do this to the animal humans. It makes me beyond angry. We said good bye to Bodie after trying 4 different prescriptions for his seizures and his mental state. I'm so heart broken but I know we tried everything to give him a happy life read more

I made multiple attempts to reach out to Jennifer's Pet Rescue in a desperate plea to please help me re-home my beloved 8 year old poodle. I've had him since he was weened and I love him dearly. I was forced to make the decision to part when my child developed pet allergies. I was desperate and begged for her help. She never responded. My husband emailed her, she never responded. I waited 17 days and then emailed her again. She simply replied that she could not take him because he was older, and therefore, harder to get rid of and their care becomes costly. This tells me that Jennifer's Pet Rescue is NOT interested in rescuing pets. They are merely concerned with turning them out for a profit; if the animal is not profitable, it is not worthy of rescue. In hindsight, I guess that it's good that I didn't turn over my beloved dog to someone who cares more about turning a profit than it does rescuing animals. read more

After having searched online for possible options and resources in Atlanta for rehoming my cat (due to some issues with a new baby in the house), I came across the owner's website. Should've come to Yelp first! If I could give this woman a zero I certainly would. Great pitch, as I was convinced that this was a good possible option. I took the time to go through the process of filling out the requested paperwork in order to possibly rehome my cat. The forms suggest that we should be completely honest about all the goings on of the pet. I did this, only to be mocked. Needless to say, I'm already in bad spirits about having to rehome my cat in the first place. In response to my paperwork and request for an appointment, this is the response I got: "Sorry but we can't help, nor would we rehome a cat with those issues. I would have to say that finding a barn for her to live at would be best for her with those issues. Or just allow her to be an outdoor cat." Wasn't even sure if she was being sarcastic or serious but I was thankful for the reply. Now I know not to ever recommend her services to anyone. Not for profit my ass. read more

They take your money adopt a pet out to you with false information, stating pet is great with children, other pets and just a really great dog with people, turns out dog is food aggressive, aggressive with other animals and bite's children. I was told to bring her back the following day after adopting her with being told I would have the option to take a different pet, well that was not the case, they offered no other pet, they took the dog and also no refund. Have sent numerous emails to person who runs shelter Jennifer Rogers and she has not answered any emails now. All I wanted was a pet for my little girls and they basically stole my money. Unfair and unprofessional, legal aid gave me advice to first send additional email which I did and still no answer, and they also stated to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I adopted a pet from this organization about a month ago. Three to four days later we notice that our puppy would not eat her food and was not as active as she was when we first brought her home. We called Jennifers Pet Rescue on the third night and waited for them to return our call. The next morning we notice that her health was declining more and brought her in to see our Vet. Test were ran and discovered that she had Parvo and had to be admitted in the hospital right away. We then called Jennifer's Rescue again and was told that someone would call me back. When Jennifer finally called me back, she instructed me to go back to my Vet. get her released and bring her to her Vet. By this time I was already in tears and a bag of nerves and couldn't believe that she would want a dying puppy to be transported to another hospital. I had already explained to her that she was admitted and that their was no way that I was going back and take her off meds, and I.V. just to accommodate Jennifer's Pet rescue. I had been up with this puppy all night and had been given her water with a eye dropper just to keep fluids in her body. Jennifer's indicated that she would be willing to take the puppy back and give me a refund but I needed to go and bring her to their vet. By this time I am floored because I couldn't believe the nerve of her request or the lack of care she displayed. I informed her that my 9 year old and my husband was already attached to our puppy and we didn't want to give her back. Not only did our puppy have parvo but also developed pneumonia. I ask Jennifer's Pet Rescue if they would be willing to contribute to the vet bill. I didn't ask to pay for it all just to help due to our Vet. explaining to us that our puppy had already had Parvo when we adopted her. We were told flat out "NO" that they were not going to help us with any of the expenses. I have also called Pet smart being that pet smart is where we purchased our puppy from as well. Pet smart stance was behind Jennifer and refused to offer any support as well. We have incurred close to $1800.00 in Vet bills, cleaning products and medicine in a period of one month. I think it is just awful that Pet smart and Jennifer's pet Rescue refused to help us at all. I have spoke with other families in our areas who have also adopted pets from Pet smart who have had the same experiences. My advice is not to stop adopting animals from Rescue centers, but to make sure you are able to bring them to your vet within a 24 hr period and before your family gets attached to your new pet. read more

We adopted a dog from Jennifer's Pet Rescue at the Hiram Pet Smart last Saturday. We were told that she had been checked out by a vet and was healthy. After only a couple of hours of having her home, we noticed that she had blood in her urine, took forever to go to the bathroom, and was having little accidents all over my house. I took her to my vet and found out her bladder was full of stones. I contacted Jennifer and she acted surprised, telling me that she had walked her the morning she was adopted out and she never noticed anything. This could not possibly be true. I noticed it right away, and she didn't develop a bladder full of stones overnight. Now she is having a $300.00 surgery tomorrow. Jennifer's Pet Rescue will not respond to my request for a refund of my adoption fee. They presented this dog to me as house broken and healthy.... she is neither. I have already spoken with an attorney and intend to file a lawsuit. Not because of the money, but my ultimate goal is to put them out of business. If they cannot do any better than this, they have absolutely no business dealing with these poor animals. I am also reporting her to the BBB and the Humane Society. I will be including Pet Smart in all of this because they are allowing this organization to conduct business on their property, and refused any help in this matter. read more
