We found that Your Dog Smiles offers dog running services in addition to the standard visits and walks. When we have to be gone for an extended period of time, we ALWAYS give them a call to take care of Sadie. The notes they leave are informative and let us know everything that they do with Sadie. When we go away for more than a day, YDS takes Sadie into their home as part of the Bed and Biscuit service. She is treated as part of their home, and the pack (with 2 other dogs). During that visit, Dr. Dave Iskandar was thorough and attentive - he found what looked like an enlarged spleen, told me it was more urgent than the knee injuries, and said he'd email me the file so I could make an informed decision. Based on that first visit, I actually left feeling reassured I'd found a good vet. That feeling didn't last. Four days went by with no follow-up on a finding he himself flagged as concerning. When I called to check in, the receptionist said they'd "just been very busy" and would pass a message along. A few hours later I got the email and a missed call. I called back right away to schedule the ultrasound. I was told the ultrasound is done by an outside vet who visits the office on scheduled days. The receptionist checked availability and called me back within the hour, and after some back-and-forth on timing, called again to confirm: if I got my dog there by noon Monday, the ultrasound vet would come shortly after. I drove an hour each way for that appointment. When I arrived, there was no record of it. The person who'd scheduled it wasn't even in. Nobody bothered calling the ultrasound vet to check if she could still come. Dr. Jonathan Schellenberg, who was on duty, just flatly told me it wasn't happening - no urgency, no attempt to fix it. He said they record calls and would review the history. I never heard back. My dog has a possible spleen mass that was called urgent over a week ago, and a week later I have no ultrasound, no answers, and a wasted two hours of driving. Whatever good impression Nova Animal Hospital made on that first visit was completely undone by how carelessly this was handled afterward. If you care about your pet's welfare, I would not trust this practice to follow through when it actually matters.

The ladies at the front desk are wonder. Super kind and courteous. My dog is in the middle of health crisis... my vet and I have formulated a plan we're both comfortable & confident with where she gets her core treatments at their office and there is some home care treatment. I ran into a relatively simple issue (her port for fluids had clearly slipped) and that required the assistance of a tech to help correct. Because this facility was open after hours my vet had suggested I go see them. When I arrived the first thing I was met with was inappropriate questions about the plan my vet & I put in place for dog. I was lectured on the dangers of providing care for my dog at home, and ultimately she didn't correct the simple issue I originally went in for. I'm sure the vet had the best of intentions but she knew nothing about me, my background, and my experience. And quite frankly I didn't feel compelled to give this woman my resume or list of credentials. Given that my dog is under close supervision by our vet (who has MANY YEARS of experience she does not); her attempts to impugn his decision & abilities (and quite frankly mine) were unprofessional, inappropriate, and completely unacceptable. My advice is simply this... you're an urgent care, address the immediate problem someone needs, don't question the decision of another veterinarian when you clearly don't know what went into making those decisions; and check your personal biases and opinions at the door. I paid $180 simply to be lectured and judged; and my sweet girl never received the care I went looking for- that was extremely frustrating. So I visited my vet first this morning and got my baby squared away. Wishing Loudoun Urgent Vet many years of success, this was one experience and while it was disappointing it won't deter me from going back if I absolutely need. I hope my next visit, whenever that might be, is better.

She was calm yet concerned about Ollie and worked quickly to get us checked in. Her calmness helped calm me! They got us into a room within 5-10 minutes which we are so thankful for bc we know they were busy. The vet we had was Dr. Hodges and she was amazing. I wish I had gotten the name of our vet tech but she was also amazing. They both were so thorough, calm, reassuring, compassionate and their communication was detailed but in a manner that was clear for us to understand. My dog is elderly and I hated to leave her home for a long day alone. I called Rachel in the evening of the day before the function. Pretty sure it was too last minute. She came right over and met Kiya. She asked questions about how to let her out, how she eats and what she likes. We got a text about how she did the next day. When we got home we had a detailed note on how she ate, what happened on the potty break, and that she was happy and back in her bed. We lost our other old friend in November. Kiya has become even more special to us since then. Knowing that she had a comfortable day was very important to us. So glad to have found Rachel, so close to home and so easy to work with!

It was the first time that we've gone away in years without having someone come and stay at our house so the "kids" wouldn't be alone at night but when we couldn't find someone to stay at our house we decided to use Rachel. She took care of them from Friday morning until Monday evening and communicated with us regularly over the weekend as to how our babies were doing which we really appreciated. Rachel came by four times a day to see the girls and even stayed a few times to watch TV and keep the girls company! The best testimonial of how the weekend went was when we came home Bella didn't cry like she always has in the past. The girls were so happy!
