Our family has had the pleasure of experiencing both the adult and children classes offered by Family Martial Arts spanning several years. One of the most touching and important pieces is the love that Sensei Juan clearly has for doing what he does. He lights up when demonstrating, teaching, and connecting with the people in the room. Not only that, watching him play and joke with the children keeps it fun and also helps the parents also crack a smile. However- there are real lessons learned at Family Martial Arts in addition to fun - the teachings that are taught from an early age about self-control, integrity, responsibility are ingrained into the programs. Our child learned not only the physical aspects of martial arts but the mental focus and lessons as well. Learning how to be a responsible citizen performing good deeds has been reinforced by her time at the dojo. Our family will be moving away from the area soon, and it is a great loss that we will not have Juan, Timi, and Family Martial Arts in our daily routine. The dojo and the people who fill it create an atmosphere of positivity, accountability, fun, and dedication. I tried Chonburi Muay Thai and that was nearly five years ago; I have been with Bruce since! Bruce is from Thailand, raised amongst the true Muay Thai culture and he remains loyal to those roots. Class is fun, challenging, and supportive. Students are proficient at varying levels and this helps all of us to both learn and teach, simultaneously. Additionally, this fosters a cohesion with the students and the atmosphere is more familial in feel. As a female, I have always found Muay Thai to be empowering and my skills have been much improved since training with Bruce. This has fostered a confidence that is priceless.
