Jeremiah Johnson Brewing has been on my list to try for quite some time. The opportunity finally arose and I at long last got to try it! The brewery is based out of Montana but they have a location here in Idaho as well. The beer that Steve and I tried and enjoyed was the Mountain Man which is a Scotch Ale with flavors of maltiness and sweet. The beer is nice and dark. Smooth in texture and a bit on the heavy side but not too bad. Nothing compared to some stouts and porters that I have had. Good, solid beer to start with in regards to this brewery and I would be thrilled to try out more of their beer options in the future! read more

Stopped by to get pretzels with their beer cheese. When I got home and opened the container with the cheese it was thick and looked more like whipped cream cheese. It had a sweet taste to it and just wasn't the great cheese I remember. Did they change their recipe? WHY?!?! read more

Save your money & stomach and go anywhere else. This place sucks. They drizzle fake liquid cheese on tortilla chips with a couple of pieces of chicken & 5 black beans, jalapeños & call it nachos for $18. Crap food that's a joke. Great spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Came in early on a Friday afternoon and had the sour beer and the street tacos which were amazing! Honestly regret not trying the pretzel but guess I'll just have to come back for more. read more

How can I describe this place in one word? I have to go with: Relaxed. It's a chill place. Nice staff, quick service without being pushy. Good beer. I really enjoy their Amber ale, and they have a rotating set of taps from other breweries as well. Their menu is rather small, but that makes it easier for them to keep the quality up and the speed of service quick. I really like their three meat flatbread. The Bavarian pretzel appetizer came out screaming hot, and was really good. They serve it with their queso. There's free parking across the street. It's just a really good place to relax, grab a pint and a bite, and chat with pals. This is the neighborhood bar that people want in their area. read more

So here is brewery visit #170. We are looking for property and one of the criteria is that there be good local beer. While the property we were looking at today is not in Coeur d'Alene, it's close enough. Jeremiah Johnson is in a really nice space in CDA. (I'm almost a local now so I'm going to call it that.) the taproom is friendly and the gent behind the bar was attentive and friendly as well. There were eight beers on tap so SWPFTD and I ordered up two flights to cover them all. The blonde ale is an excellent blonde. Smooth, a hint of sweetness with no off-flavors. Just a damn good beer. The honey-weizen is predictably a Hefeweizen. This one was ok for me but seemed a little flat on flavor. It was decent but not a favorite for me. Panhandle Pale Ale is a nice light example of a pale. Very light hops. Easily drinkable. The amber ale, "as glorious as a Coeur d'Alene sunset"! Excellent imagery, let's see how glorious it is. SWPFTD loves amber ales, which you know if you have followed my ongoing brewery reviews. This is a very nice amber ale. Caramel, malty flavors with a bit of sweetness. Mountain Man scotch ale. "A wee heavy" is one of my favorite beer styles. It is probably the Scot in my blood coming out. This is what I came to this brewery for. I love scotch ales. This is an excellent Scotch ale. We are looking at property nearby and I just may buy it specifically to be near this Scotch ale. The coffee Scotch ale was next. Very good but I'm biased towards a regular Scotch ale. I would definitely drink this beer though. I like it. Just not as much as the trad version. (I just learned what "trad" is so I threw it in this review to try and sound hip and cool. Did it work?) I saved the IPA's for last and appreciate that the beer menu is not IPA heavy. I enjoy IPA's but the are not the "end all, be all" of beers as some people seem to think. The hazy IPA is a very flavorful IPA without mind and palate numbing bitterness. PSA for people, bitterness does NOT make a good beer. Balance matters. I enjoyed this IPA. Citra IPA had a bit more bitterness to it but not overpowering. The citrus was obvious and upfront. This beer is another winner. We did order some food and intended just a snack but the pulled pork nachos were huge. Really tasty. I regretted that I couldn't eat them all. My wife and I stopped in for a beer and stayed for a second and some food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had the scotch ale mixed with the vanilla porter a suggestion from our bartender Carisa and my wife had the vanilla porter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were pleased with our respective choices while we enjoyed chatting with Carisa.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the pork tacos and taquitos. I was super happy with the tacos and pleasantly surprised with the taquitos. I'm not usually a fan of the usually wrapped corn tortilla taquitos but these were flour and the best I've tried. I look forward to our next beer and hopefully Carisa is still working. Awesome folks make the experience better. read more

Great stop! Mid afternoon allowed for a less crowded brewery. (Covid concern) Came in for the brew, ordered the Three taco platter. There are 3 choices of tacos, veggie, pulled pork and chicken. We chose pulled pork. Delicious! Came with few chips and spicy salsa. Great! Beverage: Vanilla Porter- good, full bodied, very tasty. Cider: they offer rotating cider. Pear was offered, nice but I passed. Highly recommended, we will be back! read more

Holy buckets you need to go here. We were on a trip to Idaho and bought a 6-pack of the Mountain Man Scotch Ale that we LOVED, and so on our way home, we decided to stop by this place for lunch. We had the big pretzel and the brisket sandwich with a side soup of pozole. I tend to not order pozole unless it's from a Mexican restaurant, but my husband insisted and BOY HOWDY WAS HE RIGHT. All the food was perfectly cooked and so flavorful! We were able to sit outside with our dog on a leash, and Todd, our favorite server ever, brought by a bowl for her. Ask for Todd. He's the best. Any time we're in CDL, we will stop by here. read more

This place is our neighborhood boozer. Friendly staff and more importantly, delicious beer. There is live music weekly and some great theme nights (bingo, trivia etc.). A great swing through spot for the tourist crowd and next door to some fun boutique shopping after you get a little toasty. read more

OMG, order the pretzel! It comes with their own beer cheese sauce, and huckleberry mustard. It went perfect with the beer that they had, the pale ale and the chocolate stout. Very interested in the brewery as I'm a big fan of the movie "the mountain men". The guys that work there were awesome, they didn't take their masks off at all while we were there due to the Covid situation. Also gave me two free stickers! Thanks guys. read more

Had a fun brunch with my mom over the weekend which included checking out this place for the first time. Split a caesar salad with chicken and bacon (which must have been a monster to eat alone!) and the pretzel with bear cheese dipping sauce. By far the beer cheese was my favorite! Waitress didn't think they made the pretzel itself in house but was still very yummy. Was a bit bummed they didn't carry any fun non-alcoholic drinks (like kombucha, which their closeby neighbor literally makes) or a fun lemonade. Just your standard coke products (though they did have Jones cream soda, which is something). They do bingo on Tuesdays which intrigues me. Busy place which mean folks dig it! read more

Found this place on Yelp. Loved the outdoor seating! Our server was amazing! Not a whole lot of draft beer selection or food so we were unsure if we would walk away happy but we did. We were proved wrong! We loved our beer and the price was great. Even more the food we decided on were delicious and a hearty portion size! We got the nachos, the pretzel and the brisket sandwich. Definitely will come back when we are visiting again. read more

This is a late check-in, but that was my oversight that Yelp reminded me about. Went on a Tuesday evening, so we got to play Bingo. Seems Jerimiah does Bingo on Tuesday night that supports a local charity. They will change the charity monthly from my understanding. In this case, the night we went supported the Kootenai Humane Society. One of the benefits of supporting Bingo night was scoring a few beers from the raffle side of things. Okay, now for the food I had a ceaser salad. The salad was very fresh. I have had their flat bread pizzas previously and really thought it was a good pizza, but for some odd reason that night, I was craving rabbit food. For the beer, Jeremiah offers a range of beers, but I stick with the IPAs which are slightly above average. Restrooms were very clean, service was fast and friendly. All in all, a decent evening. I certainly have told others it is worth checking out. read more

Nifty lil place in Midtown CDA. Amongst the many thrift stores, why not stop in to wet your whistle with some tasty Beers? I am not one for Porters, but when I had their vanilla porter- Wow! It was light and smooth and just so good! I also loved their mango cider! There are plenty of other beers to choose from. We had already eaten, so we did not partake in their food options, but the large pretzel looked quite tasty! We will be back! read more

Extremely disappointed in this place's take on COVID19... The carelessness of this brewery to allow a full restaurant to operate without any thought of an attempt to curb this pandemic is infuriating. I hate giving this type of review, but putting hundreds of people's lives in danger put a sour taste in my mouth. About half of the staff utilized masks, but I don't think I saw a single patron, aside from myself using a mask here.... Here we go Idaho, get ready for wave 3! read more

Would like to see some more salads on this menu....but what we ordered was really good. Ordered the pork and chicken taco trio....the pork ones were amazing! They are served with tortilla chips, it would be nice to have a different side since it already comes with 2 tortillas per taco. Also had the hummus platter-yum! Great atmosphere and beer selection. We started out as The Front Brewing Company in 2012. Our signature Mountain Man Scotch Ale quickly became a crowd favorite in Great Falls and over the next six years Mountain Man grew to be a staple in Montana.

In 2018 Jeremiah and Katie Johnson took ownership of The Front with the goal to grow the Mountain Man brand. With new ownership came a new name and identity to honor our Montana heritage. The slaw tasted as if it sat around for days ,the tortilla seemed to be thrown on the plate without being heated very doughy texture.The chicken was un recognizable. We did send that back. We were expecting fresh, quality food, especially something as simple as a salad. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst restaurant salads we've had. We hope the restaurant pays closer attention to the freshness of its ingredients and overall food quality. Bag lettuce I'm sure if and should have been clean and inspected.

Might have been a metal or a punk oriented type band as that was what the audience appeared to be. I wasn't going to see the show and just wanted a beer so they were nice enough to let me in to do just that. Black Lodge Brewing is one of those breweries that is inspired by the TV show Twin Peaks and you pick up subtle nods to it there with some pictures of Laura Palmer. I bought some swag for this brewery online and while they had several designs I went with the logos that had the opening credits styled from the show with the brewery name on it.
