We came here with my family for dinner on a weekday. There was a concert scheduled for later in the evening, but we got in before the rush. The restaurant was very roomy and we were given a table right away. I liked the layout with the large projected screen up front. It seems like this would be a cool place to be for sporting events. Our table was right up front, and next to the speakers. It was louder than I would have liked for the music they were playing. It seemed as though the audio could have been balanced better - some songs were louder than others and the bass was up a bit too high. Don't take me for a scrooge, I appreciate a good volume on music, but there becomes a point when it's just too much. The food here was good, and portion sizes were large. I got the big fish sandwich and wasn't able to finish the whole thing. I would like to see them rename either the Big Fish Sandwich or the Big Fish Dish. We ordered one of each but received both as the fish sandwich. With the volume level it was probably tough for the waiter to hear the orders, but if they weren't named the same thing this wouldn't have been an issue. This was our first experience here and I'd give it a 3.5 star rating if I could. -0.5 for the noise and -1 for the incorrect order. Definitely worth checking out if your in the area, but could use some improvements. read more

My review is based on two excursions on Saturday nights. Fun place to hang, although my friends and I are considerably younger than the usual clientele-30s, 40s and up. Great place for people who want to dance, drink and have fun, but don't want to deal with young'uns like myself-I assure you, we don't crowd the place in the least! Unfortunately, that's part of the problem, for me-that besides my crew and I, there really aren't many other 20-somethings that come here. Good concert venue, but it's too loud inside. The smoker's lounge is glorious, even though I don't smoke! It was awesome. Good mix of popular music and classics. The drinks are pretty decent, haven't had any super bad ones, but I've never asked for anything too complex-typically appletinis and such. Only thing I haven't tried is the food, though I've heard it's good. Pros: close to Wexford/I-79, good DJ, large dance floor, lots of space inside and outside-the patio is great in warm weather! Nice smokers lounge. Cons: way too loud indoors, clientele usually mid-30s and older. read more

I have been back to Jergel's several more times, primarily for blues music venues -- Women of the Blues and so forth. Food is fine for this style of music venue; excellent bar menu and decent beers; bartenders have been fast and helpful. Setup staff for music venue has always been supportive; they do such a volume in the music business that their staging and stage management is rather good. Thinking about the back of the stage and how it might be more "in the dark" would help photographers a bit -- draping the setup equipment and sound reinforcement would also clean up the lines a bit. Excellent parking by the way and easy to find. All in all, a fan. f8 and be there. read more

I visited Jergel's to see a concert a couple of weeks ago (Gathering Field). My only previous experience with Jergel's was when I went there previously on a random weekday night and there was a (steep) cover charge so we turned around and left. I did not have an opportunity to eat here so this is solely a review on the concert venue. There is a large "dance floor" area in front of the stage. There is an upper level area for seating too that overlooks the stage. There is a bar on the lower level and one on the upper level. It's easy to get close to the stage too. I thought this was a decent venue for a smaller concert and would recommend checking it out in the future. They typically have Pittsburgh bands, not a ton of national touring acts. read more

Absolute worst! No place to sit, no tables available, oversold show. Very disappointing! We were outside, waiting before the doors opened, 2 hours prior to show and the place was already a zoo from the pre-pay VIP entry people. General admission should mean general admission. Period. If you're 21 and want to get drunk and stand forever, this is your place, otherwise forget it. I will never come back. Buyer beware! My fears were confirmed last night at a concert. I paid up for "early entry" and arrived at 5:40 pm. I was told on the phone I'm guaranteed a table if I arrive by 6 with my early entry concert tickets. Well...tables on the first floor were gone. Upstairs along the railing, people were holding many spots for their friends who were presumably coming later and who didn't pay the extra charge like I did. The people at front said, the servers will take care of it. The servers did not. Finally, the one nice lady said we could sit behind the stage above. but when the music started we realized that we could not even hear the vocals at all. How can they let people hold the best seats while other people who paid are not permitted to sit there. The worst is that I wasted almost 2.5 hours of my time getting there early to get a table but I did not. for the second half of of the concert I watched down on the floor standing. I could have come at concert time and paid much less to do that. Just a terrible unfair process. Also, we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for a sandwich while others around us got served quickly. This was my first time at this venue.. we was able to get a table for the show.. neither of us very hungry but we looked at the menu anyway.. our server was very quick at getting our order and bringing us our drinks.. food did not take long to come out.. well the soup my friend ordered was very spicy so she did not like it.. the pizza I had ordered had a spicy sauce so I also not a fan.. I'm not one to send food back I'll just get something else to eat.. it took our server over 30 mins to even come back and check if everything was ok.. and he walked by out table at least 7 times.. our server was very good with his other tables but it seemed that since we did not order a ton of food and drinks to start with he did not care about us They have a very nice outdoor patio area with 2 fire pits.. you think that its an area for the smokers but there are no smoking signs all over the place.. when I ask where the smoking area was the girl told me outside the gated area.. Last night was the first time my friends and I had ever attended Jergel's! We had a fun time for sure! I was glad that I read yelp reviews before attending the Russell Dickerson show. Early early entry begins at 5:00pm if you want to pay a little extra to get a nice seat or to get a nice table for dinner before the show (I recommend doing this even though you are waiting a bit before the performer comes on). I will definitely do this next time if I want to make sure I get a good view of the artist I paid to see! The doors open at 6:00pm, which we chose to do. It wasn't fully packed just then, which was nice, but we planned on eating with some friends and there was only a table for two left which wasn't the most ideal, so we had to split up for a bit. My boyfriend and I ordered some drinks and food. I had a drink that was "Hawaiian Punch" and it literally tasted so good and exactly like Hawaiian Punch haha. We ordered buffalo chicken dip, which was tasty, a chicken quesadilla, and a chicken ranch flatbread. My boyfriend said he enjoyed his quesadilla. The flatbread was dry and I probably wouldn't order that again. There's an upstairs level and downstairs level with many options of a great view-depending on where you stand. We stood on the floor level after eating to make sure that we could see. It was really fun once the performers came on a a great show! We will definitely be back again in the future. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for a Johnny Cash tribute band. Although the opening acts were absolutely terrible (the older couple next to us were physically holding their ears), the main event was great. It was our first time here and we definitely love the venue. We were lucky enough to get a table on the bottom floor-however once the band started, it got very crowded with people standing all around and we couldn't see anything except butts lol we ordered some food which was very tasty- the cheesesteak sandwich to be exact. It seems as though they have good shows regularly with well- known artists. We are definitely looking forward to coming back here soon. read more

When you first attempt to find Jergel's Rhythm Grille it may be hard to find, but after you discover the hidden location it's easier to remember. I would recommend getting there before 8pm to avoid a cover charge on some days since they have live bands performing. Should be noted that Jergel's Rhythm Grille is not a country bar but a folk music bar. Once you do manage to get inside you'll notice they do have a small stage and a 2nd level up stairs which works out nicely when it gets crowded. Jergel's has a fire pit outside so for the casual smoker it works out nicely in the winter or late at night. They do have a VIP section for those of us who like a more comfortable atmosphere. The food selection isn't small, and they do have Guinness and other assorted beers on tap. To be honest I would consider this to be a country bar then a folk music bar given the welcoming atmosphere and music selection you get to enjoy. read more

We were celebrating a friends 30th birthday and it would've been a great time if it wasn't for that. Probably the worst place to eat in the North Hills. I'm currently chewing TUMS to get rid of this awful stomach ache I'm now experiencing. My husband and I were stuck in rush hour traffic on a Friday evening and so we decided to stop and get dinner here. I thought it was odd because usually more people are around at a restaurant at 6pm. It wasn't very busy except at the bar. Welp... now I know why. I ordered the Mediterranean salad and it was $13. Das a lot of money so I expected it to be somewhat good. Probably shouldn't have ordered that glass full of artichoke juice on top. Ah, that's right, I didnt. Yet this seemed to be a bonus ingredient that was topped on the salad. I'm pretty certain (as someone who regularly cooks) that the rest of the ingredients came from a can with the exception of the onions/lettuce. Gross. Guess I can't be that surprised I have an upset stomach now. Looks like a cool venue for music but by all means, avoid eating here! read more

It's loud it's crowded, don't go there for dinner if you aren't planning on staying for the music. Food was decent but nothing to write home about. I will say that my Jalepeno margarita was top notch however. Seriously yum! Service is a bit slow but hey they are crowded, at least the night I was there. I never once saw the staff being idle or not tending to someone or something so that's not a knock against the staff, but you have been told. It's a fun atmosphere with a bit of an "older" crowd and the music was great. As a bar alone this would get 4/5 stars but I think it could do without the food. read more

The North Hills was in need of a good place to go out. It has taken a long time. Last night we went to Jergel's to see Dancing Queen. We arrived at 8:15 and the lot attendants were directing cars to the 79 Park and Ride ;( I managed to make a spot and pray to not get towed(I didn't). The place looked great. It has a huge dance floor with a second floor balcony surrounding the place. The outside patio will be wonderful later this spring. I grabbed a burger with sweet potato fries and my date had chicken salad. Both were good. With 2 Cosmos and 3 Yuengling bottles it came to $50. Dancing Queen pumped up the room and kept the dance floor packed all night. Definitely a good time. The sound system was great. The light show could use a bit of an upgrade. I'll be back read more

Both as a live music venue and a food/drink place, I think this place is right in the middle. There are definitely places that I like better (Club Cafe immediately comes to mind), but there are definitely worse places (never been a fan of Altar Bar). My husband and I went to see the Gin Blossoms there last night. We had free tickets, which was awesome, so we lined up early to get in. Once in, you seat yourself and there are a lot of options - upstairs at tables, downstairs at tables, at the bar or in the general admin section in the middle. We chose a table at the far end of the first level. We didn't have a waiter approach us for a long time. When he finally did, he took our drink order, never gave us menus and wandered off. As we were going to be there for hours before the show started, it wasn't a big deal, but it was weird. J ordered a long island ice tea which he described as really just a screwdriver with maybe more kinds of liquor in it. I ordered a shirley temple that had more grenedine in it than sprite - and it should have had ginger ale, but I digress. After our second round of drinks (J ordered a more palatable hurricane which they seemed to know how to make), our waiter asked if we wanted menus. A million years later, he brought them to us and I asked what the chipotle dip was. He said dip with chipotle, it's good. I asked if it was cheese based, sour cream based, salsa based. He didn't know. I asked what color it was, he didn't know that either. I said that my husband doesn't like cheese or sour cream, so I didn't want to order it if I was going to have to eat the whole thing. He then went off to find out. A million years later, he reappears and asks us if we are ready to order. No mention of the dip. I order the nachos with cheese on the side. We added chicken. When it comes out, they are the saltiest chips man has ever consumed, have 4 pieces of dry chicken on them and a mouthful of olives, jalepenos and tomatoes. While this would have normally been when I stopped ordering, we were still stuck there for several more hours before the show started. J ordered a meatball hoagie and I ordered the philly cheese steak - the waiter asks if mozzarella is ok on that, even though the menu says it comes Philadelphia style with wiz. When our food comes out, mine has the wiz and J's is a bunch of meatballs in a bowl - the app, not the hoagie. We made do and both were pretty decent. By this point, the bands start. The sound is a little choppy - the opener too loud, the main act too quiet. The main act's mike was off at the beginning and didn't get turned on until much too late and then was way too quiet. Robin, the lead singer, also asks for the lights to be turned down which never happened. Despite all of this, the show was good, the venue was good for a small show and I would be tempted to return for another concert - I would just make sure to likely eat elsewhere beforehand. read more

We went at 8pm and there were no tables available. We sat at the bar upstairs and I ordered a quesadilla and my bf Asian wings. Both were great - way better bar food than expected. I went to this place for the first time Friday night. I was celebrating my birthday. I had heard great things about it and wanted to experience it with some of best friends. Wow its was a great time. There was not one time i didn't have a beer or a shot in front of me. Our waitress Brittany was amazing always checking on us. The food was also amazing. We started at happy hour and ended around 11. The half off apps and drafts during happy hour was a big draw. We spent most of the time outside near the fireplace. But when the band Smokin Section came on we went inside. When I found out the band is doing a repeat performance again in January of next year, I almost had a hissy fit! A wait in-line mob scene to get in, and the place was jam-packed once you did get in. Stopped buy for lunch on Saturday afternoon around 1:00. My wife and I ordered appetizers. Twenty-five minutes later we asked our waitress when we could expect our food. She apologized for the wait and explained to us that since they just started serving lunches, they were "still working out the kinks." Whatever. She told us she would check. She returned several minutes later and told us that, according to the manager, the appetizers would be out in "one to two minutes." Ten minutes later, no sign of our waitress and still no food. We also noticed that the ladies at the table next to us returned their burgers because they were cold. Seriously??? The place wasn't even crowded!! There are too many decent restaurants in the North Hills for this kind of crap service. We walked out and won't be back. read more

More of a Venue, than a Menu. I chose a night at Jergels when they didn't have a national act on stage. I wanted to experience the restaurant and bar by themselves. The service was friendly and prompt. When the 3-man band hit the stage we were able to move to an outside table without issue. We could still hear the band, but didn't have to yell over them to talk. My only disappointment was the menu. There were three of us and we were only ordering appetizers and found the menu pretty limited. There just weren't enough options, especially for that type of venue. That being said, the food that we did get was good. The provolone wheel was cooked just right, not overcooked and melted away, yet hot enough to be melty. The marinara that came with it, though was not good. It was like a cup of tomato paste. The mussels were unremarkable. We had two types of wings, chiptole lime and some other type. They were adequate, nothing to write home about, but still good. What really made this a positive experience was the prompt, friendly service (I think our servers name was Meredith), and the outdoor seating. Another nice touch was the cigar bar (removed from everything else) and I was able to take my cigar to the outdoor seating to smoke it. All-in-all, AOK is a good way to describe the experience. read more

My brother and I decided to meet here on Sunday. He lives in Buckhannon West Virginia and I in Grand Rapids Michigan, and we were meeting before the Steelers and Patriots game. We arrived just as the restaurant was opening, so we just wanted coffee. We were served two hot cups of great coffee, and then we decided to stay for lunch. The burgers were delicious and filling. There are plenty of television sets for watching multiple channels, plus one super large screen in front of the stage, so everyone seated in the center section can watch. If I lived closer to this restaurant I would probably come more often, as they often have very good musical acts there as well. read more

Impossible to find a place to park. And the auxiliary parking lot is a quarter of a mike from Jergels so make sure you bring some walking shoes. They also enforce cover charges after 8 even for some piddly cover bands who play abba. The drink prices are ok but I wouldn't make a special trip to jergels unless you really like who is playing. And lastly the food is mediocre. This is more of a music venue than a sit down and eat restaurant. Save yourself some time and frustration and avoid this place unless you know who is playing. read more
