Stopped by from brunch on Sunday. Nice vibes with a DJ. It wasn't crowded so we were seated right away party of 6. Food was tasty and authentic. Rum punch could use a little more spirit but my dark and stormy was great. We surly return.

Its always a good time here! The food is filling, tasty, and made to order. Anything with oxtail is my go to! The staff is polite. The drinks are def worth the money, and have the strong liquor taste to go with it. I always aim for the bottomless mimosas, and a few sidecars as well (dont judge). The waits can sometimes be long, and music is hit or miss some days, but its still a vibe worth checking out!

Three-Star Yelp Review I was excited to try this place, but it started off busy with lots of delivery orders. I asked the bar staff where to order and was told to place my order there, with a promise of 10 minutes for the food. I stepped out for a quick errand and returned to find my order not ready yet. Once I finally got the food, I sat down to eat. In the middle of my meal, a staff member told me I couldn't eat in the restaurant because the order was packed to-go. I explained I wasn't aware and asked to switch to dine-in, but she said she'd be right back and then walked away to assist another customer. I repeated my request and mentioned I was leaving a Yelp review to share this experience, but she disappeared again. Eventually, I packed up and left. The food itself was good, but the service could use a lot of work.

Food here is absolutely amazing and authentic. Such a great brunch spot. The vibes were everything. They have a dj and a stage for performances/live music. Flat screen TVs for entertainment. Service was great and quick. Our waitress was great. The sauce that came with my fish and grits was . They need to give a bigger portion. I literally could drink the sauce how good it was. Very flavorful. The Ackee & Saltfish was great as well. It's hard to find a location that can serve authentic Jamaican cuisine. Who ever is in the kitchen, knows what they're doing. They also have other brunch items and authentic dishes. Drinks were great but the food is to die for! Highly recommend.

Reasonable prices for the portion, and the dishes I got tasted great. Just here for the take-out, but from the setup, it looks like a party place at night.

When I say a time was had, baby believe me a good time was had! Where do I begin? My family and I literally ordered one of everything off of the menu with items Togo. I tried to get pictures of each dish I sampled but once the drinks and shots I ordered kicked in, I lost track of some of the things I ate. Our waitress was beyond gorgeous and did a great job accommodating a party of 10. Fresh bread, mixed drinks, shots, and several different appetizers were coming out promptly back to back. For my entree I had the curry goat and oxtail which was cooked to perfection but the star of the show was the jerk chicken wings 10000/10!! Any real Jamaican knows how skeptical an older Jamaican is about trying any Caribbean food spot, but Dunns River Cafe surpassed the vibe check for sure. The elders couldn't stop talking about how good and authentic their food was. We finished our meals just before the crowd arrived (tip: they offer a lively brunch on weekends if that's the vibe you're going for.) Which was great because we felt like we had the entire restaurant to ourselves the full duration of our visit.

The brunch menu and food was very good. I went with a seafood plate and every item was seasoned well and taste fresh. The staff was very good and helpful.

We were here for a friend's birthday during Sunday brunch. It was an experience with live music and several other Birthday groups. They accommodated our group of around 17 people at high tables. I chose to avoid the bottomless mimosas since I was driving, but the birthday girl got her money's worth. Instead, I ordered a rum punch and man it is a creeper. Too strong to drink before food arrived. The oxtail and grits was very good. The grits were cooked almost perfectly and the oxtail had good flavor. I wish it was just a little more tender, but that is my preference. I would consider coming back for brunch.

We arrived for Happy Hours.. drinks on point. Our server was on point as well. She has great suggestions & kept the water & drinks full. We enjoyed our meals & the music. The issue was the volume when the live singer & band arrived. I could tell the performer had a great voice but everything was drowning him out. Not a bad place for happy hour or a inexpensive Good Meal

I will never return here and let me tell you why you probably shouldn't either. I'll start with the reason why I even gave them 1 star: the food is good for the most part. I ordered ackee and saltfish that was good but seem to have more ackee than saltfish. The drinks were okay, nothing to write home to mom about but they weren't bad. Now the bad: service was TERRIBLE. We had to wait at least 30 mins for each round of drinks. My friends waited about 35 mins for their food however I waited ONE HOUR after I ordered to get my food. My food came about 25-30 mins after everyone else's at my table. And when I confronted management, they took only 15% off my bill. Which covered the automatic 18% they already add to your bill, (without telling you by the way). Do yourself a favor and go to mango's or somewhere else bc you will leave here annoyed.

I got the ackee and saltfish and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! So much so that I got some to go and I'm going back tomorrow. My girl got the lobster dish and it smelled amazing. My other girl got the callaloo fish and let me try it. FANTASTIC! I'd never had callalloo before so it was an awesome introduction. They have wednesday specials on food and a stage for performances and bands. A pretty popular spot for birthday parties and the staff is all very friendly. Definitely recommend.

The owner greeted us at the door, it was fairly empty so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The ambiance is nice. It does look like you've stepped into the VIP area of a restaurant, so it was cute -- not fancy, but cute. The owner then told us about the restaurant being inspired by his mother, they've been around for 10 years, explained the menu etc., it was nice. He also told us that he hadn't been to Jamaica since a kid and that raised an eyebrow -- but we let it go because he wasn't the cook. MIND YOU, I brought my cousin here (who is Jamaican) after seeing decent reviews about it. He brought over our first round of drinks and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. They weren't strong at all, tasted like juice. So I would recommend just getting juice instead of the +$5 to add rum. As we began to order and look at the menu, the prices were really HIGH, but I guess he was going for upscale cuisine -- so we said OK, let's see what this entails. We all ordered the Taste of the Island plater that gave an oxtail, curry goat and jerk chicken, rice and peas, plaintains and a tiny side salad. I wasn't mad at the portions given, but the flavor didn't hit the mark at all. NOW LETS GET INTO THE FOOD The Jerk Chicken was OVERLY spicy; we couldn't even enjoy the flavor. The oxtails were fatty, sweet and BLACK. Not enjoyable at all. The goat was OK, but not very flavorful in my opinion. The beef patties were good, but probably out of a box. The Roti was good and the oxtail dipping sauce was good. The Honey BBQ Wings were pretty good and cooked well. The Mac'n'Cheese -- DO NOT GET THIS. It literally has NO taste and reminded me of the cup mac'n'cheese that you put the powder cheese in. It took so long to bring it out, I guess he kept forgetting about it (they said everything is made to order) -- which, IDK how you make mac'n'cheese to order. Real cooks know, Mac n cheese is NOT a 5-minute made to order meal. He also didn't ask how we enjoyed the meal -- which I felt like he knew what we knew when he saw that not only did the other table leave a plate full of food (the meats) but our plates resembled the same -- he still collected his coin. There is a 20% gratuity that is added on at the end that is ridiculous considering the prices are already so expensive -- MIND YOU, it is not "Elevate Cuisine", its basic Jamaican dishes on Ikea plates. No special plating, no unique sauces or display, no chef's plating or anything. Just a plate of food. Everyone's bill came in over $100. The table nearby us order the same thing and inquired whether or not we liked our food, but we'd just gotten our food and hadn't tried it yet -- we did warn them about the chicken being spicy, but not everything else. They came after us and left before us and left everything on the plate except the rice and peas. I love black owned businesses and I wish this much more success, but I would NOT recommend it to anyone that is looking for authentic Jamaican food.

Thankfully, I went a few hours after they opened so they were fully stocked with patties. I ordered one of each - curry chicken, spinach, veggie, and beef. I placed an order for a large oxtail dinner, large jerk chicken, and medium brown stew chicken meal. Each meal comes with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. I also asked for extra gravy on the rice. I waited for about 10 minutes and received my hefty order. My dad had the oxtails, and said he wish he had more oxtails in the dinner as there was only 4 or 5. However they were on the larger size in comparison to other Jamaican spots. My mom loved the spice on the Jerk chicken as did I. It had that kick you expect and needed. My brown stew chicken was very good. The chicken was tender and the browning sauce was really good especially with the rice and peas. We did all say we wish there was more peas within the rice. The patties were fresh and I had both the spinach and curry chicken. The curry had a kick and was very savory. It made me want to order their curry chicken meal the next time I stop in. Also, did I mention they give you ALOT of food, so you will have plenty of leftovers.
