This is a great find in a strip mall near the hospital. Kitschy cool decor filled with photos of Jermaine's heritage and native heritage. Jermaine served us himself last Sunday noon. His recommendations were spot on and flavorful. I had the jerk chicken bowl with greens and grains. Excellent, especially the chicken. It was both moist and filled with flavor. We were looking for smoothies or anything healthy in gunnison after 4 days of climbing 14ers and on our way to climb our last one san luis. My friend found this one and i said okay lets try it. The staff was very friendly and there was a lot of choices on the menu. The smoothies on menu all had sorbet which i did not want they allowed me to kind of do a create my own. He walked through the smoothie building with me and let me taste it to make sure that i liked it and then poured me a very large smoothie! I also ordered a bowl with a slight change due to a basil allergy. He allowed me to swap it out for hummus. I was happy they were so willing to accomodate my need for vegan and gluten free dietary needs. My friend ordered a different bowl with meat on it. Very tasty and good prices! We stayed in Gunnison for a little anniversary trip and had every intention of going to a 'dress up/nice' place to eat. Well, after hiking and sight seeing crested butte all day, our mid afternoon nap ran long and our dinner options dwindled. Jermaines' was opened late and had excellent reviews, and we're so glad we tried it out. It's a diner, nothing fancy, some fast casual tables and chairs, and looked more like an ice cream parlor at first glance. At closer inspection, the walls are packed with beautiful photos and artwork, the dessert case is loaded with amazing looking desserts, and the menu board is diverse and varied enough to appease the pickiest eater. Paninis, sandwiches, wraps, salads, tacos with options of olive oil soaked tomatoes, several options of pesto, tender brisket, jerk chicken and more. And yes, of course ice cream, shakes, smoothies, boba tea, coffees and teas. My husband devoured the brisket panini and my turkey pesto hit the spot. Couldn't leave without huckleberry ice cream and an Oreo chocolate shake, but also had to take home a few treats from the case. The food is simple and delicious. When you walk into family owed places like this you can't help but to be fortunate to have them around. You can tell by Jermaine's smile alone that he is just a phenomenal person. It seems crazy, but I think I just drank one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had. I intended to get the Kenyan French press, but they had a Jamaican roast instead. I often use a French press, but mostly do pour over for my daily coffee. What I'm trying to say is that it has to be the beans and the roast unless Jermaine has magic water. Smooth, strong, perfect amount of bitterness to match the sweetness of the tiramisu! The tiramisu was so good I was convinced it had coffee flavor added. Maybe it did. I'm a skeptic when food seems to have the perfect "flavor" it's supposed to. I know, I know, but if it was just made using espresso! Dang. Prices were very reasonable, but I'm from Durango where prices rarely are at coffee shops. I can't finish without saying that the person working there (Jermaine?) was very nice and clearly wanted us to be pleased with our visit. I'll be back for sure; probably tomorrow. read more

I stopped by here right around noon for lunch one day. I ordered the "Catch of the Day" sandwich which was smoked salmon, tomato, and cream cheese on a bagel. It really was quite good. I would very much recommend it. Service was quite slow however. At lunch time when I came in there was only one staff member in the whole store and I saw several people who came in after me having to wait close to fifteen minutes to get their orders. The poor girl behind the counter definitely could have used some help so that's something to be aware of. Once again, food was great though! read more

Been here a couple times now and VERY impressed with the food, coffee, and incredibly friendly staff!! If you like spicy, ya gotta try the Jerk Chicken wrap which is delicious! The turkey pesto panini was also delish if you prefer mild! They gladly customized our coffees just the way we wanted them and their Jamaican coffee is rich and yummy. Jermaine's had frozen yogurt flavors I had never seen before! Had I any more room in my belly to help R indulge his craving, this would be a much more thorough review. As it was, we tried only 3 flavors and had only the orange boba atop the concoction. R was preparing to complain that the creation was "boring" until he actually put a spoon of half Irish cream & half cran-raspberry frozen yogurt in his mouth. The third flavor, orange, was possibly the most perfect frozen yogurt I have ever tasted. Each mouthful was sweet, tart, fresh, cold, and indulgently refreshing. I was ready to drag us back in the morning for breakfast smoothies, but they don't open until noon on Sundays, so we will just have to route a future trip through Gunnison so I can come here when I'm actually hungry. read more

We walked into the friendliest welcome we've had in Gunnison. The shop is bright and cheery, with fun artwork and games available. Menu offerings range from coffee to sandwiches. We each had a fruity froyo (with toppings), and it was delicious. We'd definitely go back when in Gunnison again.
