I told her that rye is gluten and she said "it's your fault. You didn't tell me you wanted gluten free bread". I told her we just had a whole conversation about celiac. So she took the plate away. 5 min later offered more coffee and when I said no she scoffed, rolled her eyes, and walked away. I asked to cancel the order because she obviously doesn't take precautions and said that the kitchen would bring a fresh plate, which they did. She also said "I'm not gluten free. Despite what he had done, he continued preparing the dish as though nothing had happened. After finishing the salad, the food-prep worker handed it to a waitress without telling her what he had done. The waitress, unaware that the food had been contaminated, proceeded to take the salad out to the dining area to be served to customers. This was an extremely serious violation of food-safety standards and could have put customers at risk of becoming ill. Food should always be prepared hygienically and handled responsibly, and intentionally contaminating food is unacceptable in a restaurant setting.
