I went through the drive-through and was greeted. The employee asked what I would like. I asked for a 12 ounce Americano room for cream.The young lady handed me my coffee and it did not have cream in it. So I asked her if she could add some. She gave me my coffee with cream in it however, it was overflowing and spilling all over. So I grabbed my own napkin from my car to wipe it off and it was still so full that it was spilling everywhere and she looked at me and asked "would you like a paper towel"? What I wanted to ask for was my dollar tip back for a $2.50 Coffee. It was terrible service. I should have just gone to my favorite coffee shop, which is double shot on Main Street. read more

Spending a week in Crested Butte, we passed through the town of Gunnison a couple times. One of these pass throughs involved us making a stop at Mochas, and I'm very glad we did. We chose Mocha's because they had a drive through and I'm a sucker for drive through coffeehouses. We were all hot and it was later in the day, so when I saw they had "coffee shakes" on their menu, I was sold. One drawback was, as other reviewers have noted, the wait was pretty long. Probably over 15 minutes with only one car ahead of us. However, the service was friendly and chipper when we ordered and when he passed out our drinks, so that was good! We got two double chocolate mocha shakes (espresso, chocolate ice cream, and chocolate sauce) and a turtle coffee shake (espresso, chocolate ice cream, and caramel sauce). Both were DELICIOUS. Now, these are truly /coffee/ shakes -- you can absolutely taste the bitterness and full flavor of the coffee. So if you're thinking this'll be like an ice cream drink...not exactly. But that being said, if you like coffee, and you like ice cream, a coffee shake from Mocha's should be a can't-miss experience if you're in the Gunnison area! This has been my favorite coffee shop for a long time because they are so reliable - consistent friendly service, good food, and the best coffee in town. It came out in 1 minute and didn't disappoint. I also ordered the Club Sandwich on a plain bagel. It came out in 6 minutes and also didn't disappoint. It was AMAZING! Mochas is a great establishment. While attending school in Gunnison I've gotten use to grabbing a coffee at their drive thru window. But I do have to warn you...Mochas has the worst drive thru I have ever visited. I've waited over 45 minutes to even have my order taken and then an additional 30 for the drink to be made. They are terrible at serving customers "first come first serve" almost always they end up serving people that walked through the door before the drive thru. So...if I only walked into Mochas I would probably give them a 5 star review but due to the terrible use of their drive thru system I would have to say Mochas deserves a 2 star rating. I hope they decide to improve on the service of the drive thru. read more

Being from Cali, more specifically the LA area, you compare every coffee shop to the infamous Starbucks. WELL! Mochas is delicious. I went for the basic drip coffee which was their house blend. It was YUMMMMMY!!!! Prices were amazing as well, not expensive. I also got a cinnamon raisin bagel with honey granola cream cheese... it was the best thing ever!!!!! Stopped in for an early evening coffee and ice cream for the kids 250 miles short of our destination. This review is based on the coffee and ice-cream. Coffees (double espresso and a latte) were good, with a nice rich blend. Service was quick - although we were the only ones around at the time. The kids has a coffee and peanut butter ice-cream while we shared a chocolate. Ice cream was on point, creamy and good portion size - so no complaints. Service, attitude and food were all good. I wasn't expecting anything this yummy when my husband poked me awake to go inside on a road trip. I'm a sucker for the mochas and lattes that have silly names and a couple of different syrups in them - I ordered a raspberry mocha, yum! And.... we ordered a PB cookie and Cranberry bar from the pastry case, y'all - those were much better than I expected. I even got two more Cranberry Bars to eat on the road - they're riding with us now! My husband likes his coffee too and he knows more about coffee than me. read more

I love Mochas. I always pop a squat here when in town. The vibe is down-to-earth mountain town / college town / working man's town / primo athlete town - and Mochas captures it all. Honestly, I've only gotten the coffee here, (and it's great! two types served at all times!) but all the food I see looks scrumptious. The problem is, I'm a mid-forties-fatty-wannabe so I need to exercise what little discipline I've got to stay mildly attractive. Anyhoo, for the coffee drinkers out there, make sure you bring your own cup in. Coffee is self-serve and only a buck if you have your own cup (score!) and fiddy cents for refills! My only criticism is targeted at the bathroom, the one furthest from the front door. The light in there is one of those tube fluorescent ones, which is controlled by some motion sensor. Normally, I dig that stuff. It's energy efficient. Great! I'm a tree-hugger! Good on Mochas. The problem is, given it's a tube fluorescent light, it takes a few moments to power on. So you get in there, close the door, and it's dark for a few seconds. As I said before, I'm in my mid-forties and I think my plumbing is getting a bit old, so when I get in there to relieve myself, I'm usually doing the gotta-go-dance feeling the pressure mount. Those few seconds of darkness count for a man like me. Maybe an LED light would solve that problem. All that said, you can't go wrong coming to Mochas for some great coffee and great ambiance. The other week, we were leaving a great day skiing and heading back north when we stopped in for some caffeine and snacks. Great spot, delicious smoothies and lattes. Well, it was so great and the service was so top notch that I plain forgot my wallet in the store and didn't realize it for another two hours down the road. So we called the store; turns out Rachel at the coffee shop had also noticed my money carrier and secured it behind the counter she assured me. We made plans to travel back and our GPS noted we would arrive right at 9 pm when the store closes. However, Mother Nature had other ideas, and we didn't arrive until nearly 10 pm. But guess what? Rachel stayed open and didn't raise even the slightest complaint. Thank you, Rachel. You deserve a raise. read more

Coffee and a breakfast burrito we're very welcome after an early morning in the field. I was very happy with both the service and selection of this place. People were kind, very helpful, and knew their stuff. The place was very busy, always a good sign. I got a latte. Pretty simple. Brew was smooth and even, no harshness or extreme bitter tastes. Overall, an excellent cup of coffee. The breakfast burrito was good, but nothing that got me ooohing or ahhhing. The bagel sandwich though looked AMAZING. Thats what my coworker had and I'm pretty sure she got the better end of the deal. Next time Im there, breakfast sandwich it is. But really, this place is worth checking out simply for the coffee. read more
