The best thing about waking up in Lake City is the Lake City Bakery. Opens at 7:00 AM, just in time for us to drop in before our mountain adventures and daytrips. We usually go for the savory breakfast items, but it will take a few Lake City vacations before we've really explored the menu. Every time I walk in through the door of this place I am awestruck, dumbfounded, and enchanted. The fan whooshes through my hair as my nose is greeted with the most delectable smells that I have ever crossed. The owners are the most humble, sincere people I have ever known. They never fail to liven up even the worst of days. And the food. The food most of all. The brownies are the most scrumptious, mouth wateringly delicious piece of chocolate I have ever indulged in. The bread tastes like the dough was kissed by angels before being baked. It is salty and crusty but also soft and fluffy. Every piece of food that I have bought from this place has been like heaven on my lips. I have never gone into that heavenly facility without coming out in the best mood of my life. When I dream about this food, I drool in my sleep. Waking up and having the privilege to go here is better than waking up on Christmas morning to a smoking hot husband who gifted me a personal chef. The experiences I have had in this palace of solitude have given me a new perspective of life. If I was reborn and had no idea this place existed, my past self would show me the way of this incredible bakery. read more

Surprising bakery for a small town with an extensive array of goodies , both sweet and savory

We were in Lake City for about 7 days, I think we stopped in here at least 5 of those days! Just a warning.. there will be a line starting at the door, before they even open! They offer a huge selection of sweets, breakfast tacos, calzones, kolaches and beirox. I would definitely get the lemon bars, I think we ended up having ordered 15 total once our trip was completed, and brought some back to Texas with us! They are some of the best lemon bars I have ever had! My favorite thing was the beirox!! Its ground beef and cabbage in a pastry calzone type. I think everyone can find something here! The service was great, and the line moves pretty quickly! The space inside is small, but you just have to have room to see the offerings and place your order. There is seating outside. read more

Heard nothing but great things about this little bakery on the edge of town. Upon arriving there was a line of about 15 people to get in. There was a sign posted that stated only one party in at a time. No worries, as the smells were making the mouth water. You get inside after a short wait and the lobby is maybe 10x5 with 2 display cases in front of you no wonder the request for the one group at a time. The prices seemed fair and the assortment dwindles as the morning goes on. Biggest advice, get there early. The gentlemen behind the counter was probably the only detractor from the experience. I think he was having not the best of days. But he was hustling his arse off. We called off our order and he was tapping the keys on the register and filling the bag as we ordered. Didn't get an itemized receipt to check his math, but that was part of the charm. Everything was tasty and would go back again to try something else. The only bad item that we tried was the cinnamon roll. That needed a few pats of butter. The polish roll and the breakfast sandwiches were the tops of the group. I have looked forward to coming back to this bakery for 2 years. No other bakery I have visited (since coming here the last time I was in town) even mildly compares. Not only is it a cool old building and family owned, the people who run this place are some of the friendliest in the town. The breakfast burritos are delicious (but pay attention because the salsa burrito definitely drips all over), the bacon/maple rope donut is literally in my dreams it's so good, and the sausage Kolache is one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. I would literally try everything in this place if I had room for the extra calories and time to wait in the line that is deservedly out the door most of the day. Nom nom nom. read more

I'm surprised at all the glowing reviews. I love small town bakeries and was so excited to have one in Lake City. As a long-term seasonal visitor, I only patronized the bakery once each year. However over a period of several years, I've gotten stale bakery items every single time. You'd think I'd learn after several disappointing purchases. But I remained hopeful. Finally had to say no mas after my last trip. Everything we bought was once again very stale and pricey. Never got a fresh bakery item there. Ever. read more

Little bakery with delicious calzones, rolls, and sweets. We were just driving through Lake City and decided to stop here for some bread to snack on. We ended up buying lunch! The calzone was big for it being only about $6 (which I recommend the supreme- peppers, mushrooms, onion, meat, cheese..YUM). The brownie was sweeeet and soft. The rolls were a little disappointing after the calzone, nevertheless, tasty. The worker who took our order (I'm assuming owner), was patient and friendly. This ended up being a fun stop! read more

Spent a week in Lake City 8/2018 and must've stopped by the bakery at least 4 times. We enjoyed birthday treats for my sister in law, yummy hearty breakfast bites and even had our wedding cake (and surprise pregnancy announcement cake) made here! Being a guy that can't drive by a bakery I was pleasantly surprised at the Lake City Bakery (not so much after looking at the reviews). I arrived around 1000 and was was greated with a Warm Sausage and Cheese Kolaches-Perfect. I had saved a Blueberry Turnover for after my ride and it was fresh and delicious as well. The staff was nice and I got some help from out of the back with some directions. I am already planning on trying some more of there goodness tomorrow. This is an interesting, tasty bakery. I tried a cherry fruit roll, blueberry fruit roll, slice of cheese pizza, cinnamon raisin roll, and raspberry cream cheese coffee cake. The pizza, while not fresh, had an interesting, slightly sweet crust. The fruit rolls were nice, the cinnamon raisin roll was not to sweet (which I prefer), and the raspberry cream cheese coffee cake was very sweet and delicious. It's not the cleanest bakery, but the food was good. I would go back. read more
