My hubby and I went there for a drink last night and wound up having dinner as well. Loved it! I'm a little apprehensive about saying too much about them as this place is a "locals" place and I don't want to turn it into a "touristy" place. When you drive south from Brandon on I-75 and go over the Alafia River, you're dazzled by the tropical view-but it's over too quickly. At Jerry's you can sit and savor it-along with good food and great live music. All you have to do is get off at the Gibsonton/Riverview exit and go east a couple blocks, then hang a right. Yep, you'll think you're in the wrong place... but at the end of that residential street, right on the water, sits Jerry's Dockside. It's not big, but it's clearly beloved by the locals. There were a lot of regulars when we were there on a Saturday evening in April 2023, and they made us feel right at home. I think that's a Jerry's specialty. So go ahead, grab a table and a cold one and settle in... laid back is on the menu. So are some great burgers, tacos and a yummy blackened grouper sandwich. There's a tasty flatbread, too... and if I remember correctly, salads, as well. We were a big group out on the patio, but our server was so patient and fun. I wish I'd gotten her name-she took such good care of us. This is a comfy, casual place-right next to the boat club. There's some seating inside along with high tops on the patio and picnic tables elsewhere outside. It's the kind of place you can go to without makeup on a warm sunny evening and let your cares just float away. It's not fancy but you don't want it to be. It's warm, friendly and affordable. I'm so glad a friend suggested it! Parking is the only challenge... there are a few places outside and there's some street parking. Get there early or be prepared to circle a bit. problem. Oh! Found this nice place while I was visiting friends. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a really warm and charming deck overlooking the water.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress, that was also the bartender could not have been any more kind, personable, and accommodating. I wish I remembered her name, she made us feel so warm and welcome. It was on September 1st in the later evening - so I'm hoping she will see this. Atmosphere - Very nice. Formerly AJ's (same owner, just changed the name), the restaurant has gone through a revision that was prompted by the restaurant's participation in the TV show, Bar Rescue. There are significant improvements to the bar area, as well as upgraded tables and umbrellas in the seating area on the lower level and along the water. This is a very comfortable, fun atmosphere. The owner took time to stop at our table to ask if we were satisfied with the service and food. He is a very nice and genuine person and I wish him and his staff success. Food - Very Good. The new menu is only a few weeks old and is very limited. I had the Italian Combo sandwich and it was absolutely excellent! The sandwich is big and the bread was fresh (a huge factor for me in evaluating a sandwich) and the flavor great! Having dined here many times in the past, I was sad to learn that the pulled pork sandwich was not on the menu as it was my favorite item on the menu. However, Jerry did say that they are planning to expand the menu and will likely add the pulled pork sandwich. Service - Excellent! Many of the servers pre-date the change in ownership that occurred a few years ago and for good reason. Having dined here many times, I have never had a disappointing experience with service. Wisely, the owner has retained the entire team following the experience with Bar Rescue. Although the servers have always been friendly and attentive, I noticed that there was a new element of a professional touch and approach in their interaction with customers that enhances the experience. Overall Value - Very Good. The restaurant checks all of the boxes, Atmosphere, Food, Service and Prices. Once the menu is expanded, rating could easily rise to 5 Stars read more

We have been coming to AJ's for years, and when we arrived today, we learned that there had been a renovation and it was now named Jerry's Dockside. There were some noticeable changes, such as the tables near the docks, along with the umbrellas, and the bar area looked nicer. The one noticeable difference is the food menu. It is much smaller, and the pulled pork sandwich which was our favorite, was GONE!!!!! Our server was very friendly, and informative, but never really checked on us and was hard to find when we wanted our check. Hoping they add to the menu so that we can continue to enjoy lunches here on the water. read more

Great PIT STOP off of Highway 75. Earlier today, driving from Naples to The Villages, we decided to stop at this place because it was easy to exit Hwy 75 and also be able to sit outside by water and boats. This combo of waters edge, boats, fresh air and sunshine while eating is WAY better than trying to find a restaurant in a strip mall, drive thru, fast food or big chain restaurant. This restaurant was the highlight of our day and the sandwiches were delicious ! Much much better than the fancy restaurant that we all went to later today tonight! Seriously ! ! The crab-cakes were excellent, the menu had enough variety for our diverse group. Ambience and local live music is always nice at this Bar Rescue dockside restaurant. Servers are very nice and work very hard. Not much turnover in staff, which is a good sign that Jerry takes good care of wait staff. Limited menu is decent with only a couple new items added to the menu. We decided to check out Jerry's after seeing it on Bar Rescue (replay). We are only 45min south, so why not. Easy to find, plenty of parking. We sat outside to enjoy the live music. There was a decent beer list as well as a cocktail list, but not a full bar, all cocktails were wine based. The menu is your average waterfront bar food, burgers, sandwiches, service was fine. read more

Love this cozy waterfront bar! Staff is very friendly and service is quick. I especially like their goat cheese burger, Cuban, potato salad and wine cocktails. Also, enjoyed listening to music on weekend afternoon's. First- timers may find the entrance and parking a little awkward, but Jerry's makes up for it on the waterside! read more

Four of his girlfriends went to lunch there the other day. Three of us had the fish. Two of us had the fish tacos and the one girl had the fish sandwich. The ambience is very nice but the fish was under undercooked kind of slimy that was our tacos but my girlfriend who had the fish sandwich ate it all, they have a much better menu than before. Still, it's a beautiful place to sit outside by the river. I had one glass of wine and two fish tacos which were the special of the day and that bill came to me and $20 plus tip. If only the fish had been cooked all the way it would've been perfect. read more

I recently discovered this little gem of a place on the beautiful Alafia River. Their chef Chuck is amazing and the grouper sandwich he made for me was delicious! The bar tender Brooklyn is incredibly kind and attentive and so much fun to be served by. She's amazing! If you are lucky you may even see dolphinsor some other cool wildlife from the deck while you hang out. I highly recommend. This place is amazing and in such a beautiful setting. You can also pull up in a boat if you're in the mood for a bite or a cold brew while you're out on the river. I'm going back soonest. It was such a good time! We were enroute to the Midwest from Naples, headed to another restaurant, saw Jerry's and stopped here instead. It's just off I-75 with beautiful view of Alafia River which I'd never heard of. Very casual outdoor seating with conversation-friendly music. My husband loved the grouper sandwich, and my Cuban was way above average compared to many. The service was very attentive. If we are traveling in this area definitely again around lunch time, we would eat here again. read more

The wait was like 15 minutes so it wasn't that bad, we sat down and the waitress gave us our menus. When the waitress came back one minute after to get our orders, the weird thing about that was, she wasn't carrying a notepad or pen or anything!, it surprised me that she could remember all of this, considering we ordered a LOT of food, but the drinks were good, I got Arnold Palmer , there was even entertainment!, very good musician's, total beach vibe!. Just went to newly remodeled AJ's on the Water, Now Jerry's Dockside on the Alafia River off of Vaughn Street and Gibsonton Drive. New menu for the food is just as good. I recommend the7 blackened grouper sandwich with coleslaw my wife had the goat cheese burger. We had Rum Runners and Margaritas on the rocks. Deanna came by and offered us some Elderberry ale.
