I went with a friend to an NFL Draft party. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The service was very slow but the food was good and came hot. I had the wings which should've been vain dry rub but they weren't seasoned as I expected however they were still tasty with what little was on them. My friend had the fried shrimp and fries and I was surprised the shrimp were a good size and tasty as well. Now watching the staff was a challenge since I actually wanted to see and hear it. The tables were place fairly well since you could see TV's from any of them. I was only able to see it since the sound didn't match the broadcast and the music from the dj was loud and drowned the bad sound anyway. This bar and grill has a ton of potential but unfortunately did not deliver! I scheduled a meet up there for my birthday and we literally had to move the whole party to a different venue! We were outside on the patio which was really cool. There are koi fish in the pond, a space for a band, and an outside bar. I already knew there wasn't a band performing that night. The outside bar was closed and we were dying of heat in July in Florida so we tried to move inside but folks said it was hotter inside! There was one server and she was overwhelmed. Found out AC was broken and didn't even want to try the food based on the sad salad a friend sent back! Hopefully they'll get it together. read more

We were here for the first time last month for a Blues Festival and I really enjoyed it, so I was happy to come back when I learned that the first Tuesday of every month is Blues night. Music was supposed to start at 6 so we arrived at 5:10 so we could have some drinks and food before the music started. There was only one other table of 6 when we arrived. The four of us ordered drinks and each couple ordered an appetizer. The drinks arrived quickly since the bar is right outside. We had ordered 6 wings and it took 25 minutes. Our friends ordered a shrimp appetizer and it came out 10 minutes after ours. Good grief! The wings were actually very good. I wanted a Philly Cheesesteak, and asked for no mushrooms, but they couldn't accommodate that. ‍. I settled on a Cowboy Burger which came with fries. 6 pm came and went and still no music and still no food. Finally, at 6:35 the music started and my burger came out, but nobody else's food. I asked the server and she said it would be out shortly. 10 minutes later the other 3 meals came out. My burger was dry and salty, and served on a stale bun. The fries were good. The music was not blues, but just a variety of songs. We only lasted until 7:30 pm. None of the tables had umbrellas on them like last month, so it was roasting hot. Our server was non existent practically the entire time, the music wasn't blues, and there was so much cigarette smoke, none of us were happy. My wife and I attended the recent Blues Festival at the Red Star and since I did not eat here, my review is somewhat limited. First, I want to tell you how awful the place is and what a horrible experience I had! I want to say this because I would prefer that this gem of a place is kept as secret as possible. The truth is that I absolutely love Red Star. The setting is great! It is very rustic and despite the proximity to Rt 60, it has a country feel to it. There is a wooden plank patio attached to the bar/restaurant that has a covered stage for live entertainment and a small bar that seats about 10. The patio can accommodate about 30 four tops. I did not go inside the restaurant, but did look inside briefly and it looked like a fun space. The festival was very well run and all of the staff were very helpful and friendly. I will definitely return to enjoy the entertainment and have dinner! read more

Just had one of their cheese burgers for lunch. It was delicious! Cooked just as ordered and juicy, as a burger should be! I'm sure you'll find the food as enjoyable as the ambience of this hidden gem! The restaurant seems to primarily be a bar and the meal I ordered was pretty good. The chicken wrap was huge and delicious . The fries were not crispy due to being so thick. To make a long story short, previously asking the owner Paul what the band drinks and the cost, I was told $20, $5 a shot. My tab was $28, $7 a shot, and when I asked him and discussed it, I got some lame mish mosh, and he reluctantly reduced it, but not to $5 a shot. Isn't a patty melt sort of along same lines as a hamburger patty? Anyway, the fries were excellent! The beer was ice-cold! Very nice server. But would I want to order any food here again? Probably pass and recommend somewhere else for anything meat based since this is second experience of meat not fully cooked to our liking.
