Texted Jerry's number and requested removal of a hornet's nest . We sent pictures and our complete address. This was on July 29th. He said he could come on Aug. 9th. On the morning of August 9th I asked if he knew when he was going to come. He got back to me and said late morning or early afternoon. Marvin came by two days ago to remove a bumblebee hive from my attic. He was able to come take care of the problem within 24 hours of my first messaging him. He was also able to identify what type of problem I had from a couple pictures It was super impressive to see him sift through all my loose attic insulation in his bee suit to remove the hive and capture all the bees with his vacuum. (I tried to find the hive myself a couple days earlier, but couldn't). Additionally, the hive was in a space with really low clearance AND my attic was pretty hard to get into, but he had all the tools to get the bees out and seal up their entryway. Marvin is a treasure! He's super-busy and if you keep trying he will get to you. If you're into NO Poison, NO chemicals, NO pesticides, NO dangerous sprays this is the way to go! Marvin is a wealth of wasp knowledge. My wasp nest was tucked under the outside roofline on the 2nd floor of my house. The wasp nest going inside the exterior wall. I had been stung in the face and back of head previously. Marvin started out examining my wasp situation and took a look at the inside of my room. He used FLIR thermal imaging to show me where the wasp nest was located behind my wall. Going back outside the house he suits-up and starts vacuuming with a long tube at the wasp entry point to start removing the pissed off wasps. Next inside my 2nd floor bedroom he erects a plastic tent and suits up and cuts a square hole in the wall at the thermal imaging point. And starts vacuuming the wasp nest inside the wall. I covered my things up, but he doesn't make much mess. (Today's temperature was 84 degrees in my room). I had plenty of cold water available for Marvin. To make a long, harrowing story short, I noticed a soft spot in my daughter's room near the ceiling/wall. I also heard a dripping kind of noise. I had already checked the roof, poked my head in the attic and thought maybe there was a puddle in the attic, so my husband and I decided to poke a hole in the soft spot to let out water...turned out it was a yellowjacket nest! After screeching and running and getting stung, I started my exterminator search. Eesh. Jerry (actually Marvin--Jerry used to own the business) was recommended to us by another company. I called and explained our situation and he said he considered that an emergency. Even though he was clearly busy, he managed to squeeze us in. He came out, explained about how wasps work and generally made it as good of an experience as it could be. He was friendly and efficient (albeit social! ;) ). He started with an infrared camera and showed us the extent of the nest (about baseball-sized). He used mesh and steel wool to seal up the exterior, vacuumed up the wasps on the exterior and then used the soft spot on the inside to access the nest and vacuum it out. He didn't use chemicals, which was great because we didn't want that in our daughter's room. He sealed up the hole with mesh and cardboard and explained next steps. He also pointed out other spots around the house that we should seal up before next season. Let me preface this by saying that Marvin was about an hour and a half late to my house and was not answering my phone calls. HOWEVER..... He STILL gets five stars (+) from me as he is as hardworking as he is nice. He showed up, profusely apologized for being late and explained that the last job he was at was far worse than expected, so it took a bit longer. No follow-up from his end after 3 weeks, so I patiently called again & received a litany of excuses from a broken truck to "it is a busy time of year", but no apology for not getting back to me. Holy dysfunction. I called Jerry The Bee Guy, and apparently a guy named Marvin runs the show there. It should have been clear to me from the start this would be an uphill battle. It took at least 10 minutes of ramblings and jabberings for him to tell me he was busy and it might be a week for him to come to my house. Our bee problem wasn't that bad, so I said no problem. He told me to email him to set an appointment (which I did). Zero reply back in a week. So I called him again. I spent a good 20 minutes listening to him sputter out sentence fragments about bee's and driving in Seattle, which equated to essentially nothing, but I finally got him to mildly articulate that he could potentially visit in a week and he'd call me back in a few minutes. Didn't hear back, so I called him again next day. This led to 15 minutes of confusion and disarray as he tried to use his GPS system and talk to me. Told him to call me back as he was clearly having some issue. No response. No clue what Marvin's deal is, but I lost a good hour+ of my life. I called another firm that was there next day. Marvin was SUPER helpful. I emailed him this afternoon after noticing a bunch of wasps flying out of a hole in our yard and he was out here like 2 hours later! Buzzing in wall at night (1am): internet search result: "Wasps in wall" 2. Contact pest companies via yelp for quote: "5 star companies all replied early morning"; "Surefire" showed up around 10 am for assessment and quote; explained "These are bumble bees and they are good for nature... There are other options than killing them" (gave them 5 stars, too) 3. Contacted Marvin from "Jerry the Bee Guy"; send him pictures and had him at our house before noon. 4. Marvin identified the nest via infrared and removed it intact from the outside (behind siding), caught individual bees with a special "vacuum", fixed the building, provided education to the family and recommendations for "pest proving" and removed the bumble bees, including nest to their "new home". 5.
