We've been using Western Exterminator (formerly Pratt Pest Management) for a couple of our apartment buildings for over 15 years now and they do a pretty decent job. No real problems or issues and they have good customer service when we've rarely had to call their office. We don't actively have any major invasive pest problems so we use this company for exterior preventive protection. The come by on a monthly or quarterly basis depending on the contract and check on the bait stations and spray the exterior grounds next to the buildings. We like their report that is available after each visit which itemizes details of each bait station serviced and recommendations for preventative steps we can take to minimize unwanted pests (mainly rodents in this area). This company says they've been around since 1921 so that's pretty good. read more

Prompt service, efficient manner, friendly employee. I've used the for a bed bug check (nine-yay!), and a carpet bug treatment.

First, I'm affording two stars because each and every person has been very polite and professional. This has ALWAYS been our experience with them. We had received notice from them over and over and over, after visits, that there was no presence of rodent activity in our crawlspace for nearly 5 years. A few months ago we had them and another company come bid on abatement of attic rodents after hearing scratching, and for that visit Western explained that a visit from them a few days prior indicated no presence of rodents so they didn't even bid on the crawlspace; another company's bid found issues in the crawl, with proof. Again, very friendly, but their skills in identifying issues pertaining to rodents is suspect. We requested reasonable compensation for work another company had to do to deal with the issue and Western declined to meet our request so we went to the AG. read more

Chris Arnold, Pest Control Consultant, was perseverant in helping me free a bird from my chimney flu. I was so happy for that result when others were evading my calls for a solution. Too he inspected the attic space above my condominium and I learned of some issues that need resolved. Chris arrived on time and was respectful and kind. So since my negative post, I mysteriously see my rat traps returned around my house not sure if they're the same ones don't really care but the company did tge right thing and returned my property! Now how do I know I had them well when purchasing a home you get a home inspection and the report showed them in photo graphs of what the previous owner had done to eradicate the rodent issue. So as I'm walking around the house, I see my traps all back around the house thinking of myself. wow! when did those show up? so now I take back my negative feedback and say the company did the right thing not too many will and say thank you!! read more

Do not use Western Exterminator! I employed this service several years ago after moving into the home to find extensive rodent damage in the crawlspace. Several times over the past couple of years, I had to withhold payment until someone would inspect the crawlspace. I finally cancelled the service a month ago only to find out that a new inspector not only found droppings right at the crawlspace door, but extensive damage yet again that has to have been happening for several years. Who knew I needed to go do their job for them and should have gone under the house myself (a 65 year old woman). In good faith, I paid my bills hoping to have the service I paid for. Was I wrong. Funny how when I cancelled, I got several phone calls but when I called to lodge a complaint and hope perhaps for some refunds of money spent, I haven't heard a "squeak" (pun intended). Do your homework especially if you are a senior citizen who hopes to get good service. Next stop--Consumer Protection Agency. read more

We had their rodent service for years where they'd come out once a month to fill bait boxes. About 10-15 minutes for $110. Last summer we had billing issues. Past due notices when we weren't past due. I would make payment and then get the money returned to my checking account. They have the most screwed up billing department I've ever seen and got tired of it. Now they want $300+ and haven't come out since July 2022. I get robo calls from them constantly and called them back once to let them know to stop the harassing phone calls. They called again today so I called them back. The lady said I owed this money, and to be honest, I don't know if I do. I've paid every bill at least once. The lady was rude on the phone and I told her I would contact the news. She replied with, "You can try" in a sarcastic tone. She hung up on me! I might have to take them to court to get the harassment to stop. We were loyal customers who paid on time for years. I'm not giving them $300+ when their billing issues caused this! My advice is to find a decent company that doesn't treat their customers like this! UPDATE: After this negative (and warranted) review, the company sent me an email threatening collections in 10 days. I guess I'll have to pay. Don't do business with these crooks!!! read more

My mother's restaurant been a very loyal customer to this company. She's Chinese, doesn't speak fluent English, but she came here looking for a better future for myself and my siblings. She even became a small business owner. Today, she called the accounting center to pay her bills (844-839-9593). She dialed the wrong extension number and got to Danielle (x 26831) instead of her normal accounting person. Immediately after Danielle picked up, my mom apologized and tried to explain that she was trying to reach a different extension number. My mom doesn't speak fluent English, but she was polite and soft-spoken. Instead of saying, okay m'am, I will reroute you OR just tell my mom to call back, she half-assed her customer service and curtly said "HOW CAN I HELP YOU???" She didn't bother listening to what my mom was saying. My mom then told her, well you guys spelled my last name wrong, and again, Danielle VERY rudely said "WELL M'AM, HOW CAN I HELPP YOUUU?!?!?!" (I don't feel like I can properly translate the attitude this lady felt she needed to convey to my mother, who worked three jobs to raise her children, and sacrificed her whole life to be here, JUST to be disrespected and discriminated against?) My mom then moved on from the last name issue and began to try to pay the bills. Danielle asked my mom what she'd like to pay, and my mom asked how much the bill was - and Danielle then again, rudely saId "WELL YOUR BILL IS $$$ IF YOU WANT TO PAY $$ THEN THAT'S YOUR ENTIRE BILL?!!?!??!" I was pretty appalled by this time, but I decided that perhaps Danielle was just having a bad day and Danielle wasn't trying to be rude. Then my mom said okay I'd like to pay the entire bill. Danielle said Okay what is your name on the credit card? My mom took out her credit card and tried to read Danielle the number of the credit card and Danielle RUDELY cut her off and went on a diatribe about how my mom was impatient, and told my mom to "LISTEN TO MY QUESTION!?!" (even though this lady ignored what my mom had to say from the beginning). Then my mom asked her okay what is your question and her response was "OH MY LORD." By this time I was pretty ticked off. I don't think I'm being sensitive when I have seen this kind of treatment often and when I constantly hear about our Asian American elders being SLAUGHTERED and ASSAULTED daily just for being Asian, and nobody ever stood up for them. While Danielle did not physically assault my mom, her discrimination was evident in her attitude and her words. She only treated my mom the way she did because of my mom's accent and imperfect English, and she only treated my mom the way she did because she knew that my mom, an Asian American immigrant with imperfect English, would not file a complaint. I took over the phone and asked Danielle for her name and last name and badge number. She gave me her first name, and said she didn't have a badge number and couldn't give me her last name. She told me to call customer service if I had a complaint but it is unrealistic to call customer service to report that a person with a common name was rude. (By the way, Danielle was noticeably more polite as soon as I picked up and spoke to her in fluent English). Then I asked well who do I call to lodge a complaint, and instead of giving me the number, she constantly cut me off to justify her behavior and then hung up on me. I called back to the correct extension line and the accountant was polite and agreed to bring this incident to his supervisor's attention. While I appreciate Western Exterminator's effort to rectify this issue, I can't help but wonder: how many Asian immigrant business owners have suffered the treatment by Danielle? It is especially concerning when I know that Asian Americans normally let things slide. My mom was going to just finish the transaction with Danielle without filing a complaint had I not been around. I'm not writing this review with the hope that Danielle would be disciplined or fired, I am writing this review to raise awareness and hope that Danielle would become a better person (although I know it is only wishful thinking). read more

I havent used the service because I couldnt afford to hire a professional and thankfully I seem to have it under control...however this company was the only one to respond to my request for a quote in a personable and helpful way..even giving advice on how to manage my situation. What a great company! Julie, the person who called us back after our on line information request was incredibly nice and very detailed in asking questions and making sure she understood our concerns. She tried to get us seen the next day and she delivered on her promise. Steve the technician was so knowledgeable and gave us great tips about what we could do on our own to keep the pests away. Best part was after a complete inspection of our home including the attic and crawl space he found no sign of them indoors and didn't charge us for his visit. This past year we have been disappointed with various companies we have hired to do work around our house- no shows, rudeness, price gouging. After I had given these guys a call, they wanted to sell me on $350-$450 inspection fee plus bi monthly fee of $195 to cover all pests etc. I didn't want coverage for rodents, spiders, birds, etc. etc. All I was really concerned about was odorous house ants. Therefore I cancelled my appointment with them and called another company. They cleared the house for these ants immediately for less than $300 and no inspection fee; plus a guarantee. read more

Steve is great! He's been coming here for 8+ years. He's nice, friendly, honest and always on time. He's helpful and willing to listen when we have concerns. Steven has patched up holes, alerted us to damage to an air vent under the house and is flexible with our busy schedule. We live on a green belt so we will always have some sort of critter wanting to live under or in our house. Used Western Exterminator since they bought Pratt, our previous exterminator. What a mistake! They did not provide the service requested, to check for rodents in attic. Finally convinced them to check the attic. Their operator reported that we did have some rodent activity and he set traps to catch. They never followed up. We still heard activity and requested service from a different company. They inspected the attic and found one trap with a long dead rat and extensive rat activity. Also found multiple points of entry and rat caused damage to the roof and chimney. Needless to say we will never use or recommend Western Exterminator to anyone. They are not qualified to touch any house. Beware everyone! read more

These people were told over and over again NOT to put Glue traps on our property due to baby rabbits and birds that live here. We enjoy the wildlife here and welcome them. They were told to use only Rat house style traps, not glue boards. They snuck one in last week without me knowing it. Tonight a baby rabbit came into the shop, as they kids were hanging out watching it, it ran into a corner and got caught in the glue board. Now imagine a baby rabbit screaming it's head off trying to get away with your small children watching. Last time it was a baby bird. Incompetent company that can't seem to keep good help. Well I certainly had a different experience with Pratt. Anthony came & did a very thorough assessment of my house concerning my rat problem. He spent almost an hour doing this. He then told me I could probably do it myself & instructed me on the procedure. When he was done I asked how much I owed him...'Nothing!'! He did say that if they still were getting in they would have to come back & that would be a $350 charge. I don't think it gets much better than this! read more

Watch out for the "expert" who spends the entire visit talking about his champion pedigreed dog....then never returns calls or gives estimates. We actually took care of the problem ourselves while we waited for his follow-up. Then got a bill for over $100 for his "assessment". My wife and I recently moved into a new home. We had another pest control check the basement multiple times before moving in due to an unpleasant odor. The other company found a couple of dead rats and said everything was good. After a few weeks our house started having A LOT of flies. We called Pratt and they came out and actually had to dig out part of our crawl space but found a dead opossum that had been there for a while. They were out the same day. I called Pratt a couple of days ago when I was starting to worry that amongst a flea problem I had noticed in my house, that I may have somehow picked up bed bugs as well (since I started noticing different kinds of bites/bumps). Kim answered and the first thing she did was ask me what I was seeing and then suggested that I talk with one of their experienced staff members and put me in touch with Andrea. Andrea then spent 30-45 minutes on the phone with me, while I was pretty hysterical at this point, answering every question I had and explaining everything she knew about bed bugs. She actually said it was really unlikely that I had picked them up, but that if I wanted to, she could have a technician come out the next day to take a look. She set up the appointment, and Alex came the next day (early to his appointment time!) and proceeded to check every area I was afraid of in my house. As he was doing so, he continued to answer my (many) questions about bed bugs and also the flea problem I was having, and even a rat problem we thought was starting in the crawl space under our house (it's been a really rough few weeks). He recommended a lot of products we could buy online so that we could address the fleas and the rats on our own, and even the bed bugs if we did have them. After about 45 minutes, he had searched through everything and answered all of our questions, and we asked how much it would cost for the visit (Andrea mentioned it was a flat fee of $150 regardless of how much searching he had to do) -- he said since he didn't find any evidence of bed bugs (thank god!!) that the visit was just informational and entirely free!! I was in complete shock, and am so incredibly thankful for the entire Pratt Team. They were all extremely knowledgeable, and their customer service was completely above and beyond. I will definitely be giving them a call if I have any further concerns about pests in my house, and recommend them highly! read more

Finally! Got a letter from Pratt indicating they are crediting my account for the $150. Still makes me mad that I had to get mad to get the credit listed in the contract. If I hadn't made a stink, they would have never followed through. Three months waiting for a credit is just plain stupid and more importantly, poor business practice. read more
