When we arrived, we were greeted with a helpful and friendly vibe from the staff members behind the counter...along with the traditional ice cream shop aroma. As you look around...you'll begin to notice area nostalgic antiquities. This added a next level engagement, as we enjoyed our food and ice cream. Food-wise...we split the loaded nachos. Yummy!!!! I will say personally, I could have used a dab more of the pork...but, it was still tasty...as they were spot on with the amount if the other toppings. They are next door to each other in the Bethel Pike Shopping Center north of McGalliard, so finding free parking was easy, though a little crowded. Inside the sweet shop, there are tables for guests who wish to enjoy their choices while there. At the back is a long counter with their buckets of ice cream on display. You can get samples of their flavors before purchase. Note on the right hand side is a list of daily specials that might be of use. There are also menu boards for pairings of ice cream and cookies that are available. I went with a lighter option and chose a raspberry sorbet (sherbet?) The woman behind the counter was friendly and promptly helped me with my order. She pointed out that my order qualified for a daily discount which I had missed. Very nice! In fact, I'm planning another trip to Muncie JUST to visit Concannon's and get some donuts. What's a two-hour round-trip drive when you can be rewarded with amazing donuts during your journey? I visited Concannon's by myself, and although I wanted one of each of the donuts they had in the bakery case, I limited myself to three donuts: a glazed pretzel-shaped yeasted donut, a blueberry cake donut and an old fashioned donut. My go-to at any donut shop is usually a glazed twist, but they don't have glazed twists here! Instead, they have a glazed pretzel-shaped donut, which turned out to have all of the elements of a glazed twist, but it was just bigger and more twisty. It was amazing, pillowy, slightly sweet and even more delicious when you pull it apart with your fingers and eat it bit by bit. The blueberry cake and old-fashioned donuts were my favorites, though. These melted in my mouth, especially the old-fashioned. It was so tender and fresh. The old-fashioned is one of those kinds of donuts that I wish I enjoyed with some coffee, but instead, I ate it solo while dancing around delightedly in my hotel room. Concannon's has lots of other sweets, desserts and baked goods, like cakes (including mini cakes and individual cake slices), cookies, whoopie pies, chocolates, popcorn, candies and all sorts of other goodies. There is also a cafe with coffee and other beverages available. This is a must-visit if, like me, you love donuts, but also a must-visit in general because it's such a Muncie institution.

Didn't even get to enjoy or even eat my shaved ice. I will never go here again! My first experience and my last experience! I called to leave my number for the owner but they never got back to see what the problem was. Plus it would be nice if they had drink carriers as well. Just imagine trying to drive home with 5 shaved ice and two people when all the ice melted to liquid because the worker messed up our order and never fixed it.

I thought the place would be packed but oddly it was not. There was a line of cars in the drive thru, but inside it was only one large group ahead of me. I knew almost immediately something was off this visit. I soon realized there was only one young employee working all alone. One person on a Friday night on one of the first 80 degree days makes no sense. Later, he had to come around the front of the case yo find a flavor. He stated he was new and did not have the placement memorized yet. A new employee alone on a Friday night?!?!?! I asked if someone had called in and he said yes, but elaborated the staff is allowed to pick shifts. If true it is not working and will have a bad long term effect on the sales. I gave the lone employee great credit for sticking out the shift and continuing to slug through. However, it does not inspire confidence in returning soon. Next issue was the lack of my flavor. I loved the first two seasons when they had Turkish Coffee. The last couple of years they carried a much less coffee"y" flavor, but at least they had something coffee. Tonight no coffee anything. My second go to is banana pie which had a chocolate where the tag was placed. I waited 15ish minutes for my turn to ask if they had coffee and when I was told no I thanked the dedicated employee and left. I love supporting local businesses, and I am a huge ice cream lover so I hated seeing such a favorite in times past have such an off night. I hope the management steps up if they have call offs to pick up the slack and work or they find a new better scheduling plan. Next Summer they won't be here if this continues all Summer.

This is the type of service that they perform here is not acceptable. But one thing they do is ask you if you want to leave a tip for service. Getting a tip means you've done something right. In my opinion this whole thing was not correct. You pay for a meal you spend your money you ask for what you want you should get what you request. Not a real big fan of sunshine cafe. And I definitely do not recommend anyone coming here for meals. Even though the meals when they are properly repaired are pretty good it is completely offsetted by the horrible service provided.
