After a day visiting three national parks - Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite - and 12+ hours in the car, we were tired. All of the towns within a 50 mile radius of Yosemite were rip-off, tourist traps with "cheap" hotels running $180 up to $600 per night (Coursegold, Oakhurst, Groveland), so we moved on to Oakdale. After finding a relatively reasonable room ($85/night) at Jerry's, we dashed over to the only restaurant in town open at 10:15PM for a bite to eat. The place was clean, but small with no coffee option or ice machine, so we had to go across the street to 7-11 to buy both. However, it was the cheapest motel in a town full of tourist ripoff artists, paying $80+ for a decent room that was small, but clean. Bring your own ice and hangers. Horrible experience and did absolutely nothing about it. No form of refund no nothing! We had a leaking toilet. We had a super loud air conditioner. Can I remember what all it was? Oh they had bags of laundry on both sides of our door and then to top it off at one in the morning. They were doing laundry and the dryer or washer became unbalanced so it was banging against our wall for like a half hour or hour. In the middle of the night straight tweezers run that place!! if they cared at all about our experience and at least get a refund for all that we went through I wouldn't be leaving the reviews. I don't go out of my way to leave this much of a review but when it's that much of a experience and what we paid for it was absolutely ridiculous And the room was super super tiny on top of that. Old motel that looks cool by all accounts, and has Je ne Sais Quoi, but, yes but... Supporting locally owned non franchise business is my way, but this place is the reason why that is a thing of the past. The rooms are adequate for a nights stay in and out of Oakdale. The bathrooms were upgraded but not cleaned on a regular basis, grungy. The closet space is large but no hangars. If you request any they give plastic which are not sufficient. The beds are ok, check your sheets and mattresses covers for stains. The set I had were not clean and the bedspread is not a duvet but the kind of spread used in most old hotels. 3 small pillows? Make it 4 large, that's just common sense and ensures comfort. Carpet is filthy, my socks were once white and then the bottoms completely black from walking just in the room. Kinda gross. No ice machine. The campus itself looks clean and nice with a new coat of paint. Upon further inspection it's got broken sink outside that causes a huge water mess when used. I tired it for my boots and it was dangerous leaking water all the way down the back corridor. The corner is cramped with old parts, reason I know my garbage was full so I took it out. I know there was a couple that stayed and boy I'm certain they we're cleaning their own room because the beautiful woman was carrying a vacuum to her room along with liquid supplies meant to maintenance bathrooms and countertops. The price is average for Oakdale. The city is just a stopover to the foothills, Sonora, Jamestown and or Groveland, plus the major nature parks like Yosemite. The Motel has too much DRAMA poor mgt and strange owners, might want to drive 30-45 minutes longer up Hwy 120 and stop in historic Jamestown and stay. The food and ambiance will be a 100% improvement over the fast food, convenience stores and loud Hwy 120 that blasts through town and whet the Motel sits directly gathering pollution. The kitchenettes are a plus but for that price I'd rather stay further on up and pay for good food. The Motel could be a decent place to stay yet it's owned by folks who don't seem to understand that this is not a foreign prison an establishment with paying patrons in America. The management is substandard and their moral compass is broken. The video surveillance is great to have for parking lots and to ensure the security of customers. It's not utilised for that as much as entertainment for people who are bored and like to drum up trouble. Don't complain or request anything or they'll find a reason to boot ya. My friends found out the hard way. Too bad. Oakdale already has enough hotels and this could have been a neat old place to stay, part of history. Its just a place to avoid and Motel 6 is a couple of blocks down the street. read more

I'm not sure what past negative reviewers are talking about. As I type this I am staying at Jerry's Motel with my young child for an extended stay. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The room were in is nice, really clean, and looks much nicer in person than the pictures posted by others. We have a good sized mini fridge (seems slightly larger than the standard one), microwave, and coffee pot, plus a good sized flat screen tv with a ton of channels through dish network, and a HUGE closet. The beds are really comfortable and so were the blankets provided. Almost everything in the room seems new, down to the flooring. Jerry's has far exceeded my expectations so far, especially after reading other people negative reviews. I would definitely recommend this motel to anyone visiting Oakdale or just needing a room as they pass through on their way to somewhere else. read more

Facilities had roaches and other health & safety hazards, parking space was terribly inadequate (I have several pictures) and staff members were rude, loud and presumptuous to have to deal with, not to mention ignorant of federal health & housing laws. Staff deliberately lied to avoid a bad review on my booking site, and later claimed in their final reply to my review that I had tried to "sneak" (my $3,000.00 service dog) in through their broken bathroom window. Check-in Clerk (Jeremiah) was standing and smoking within 5 feet outside our unit, and at least three other people were loitering on the opposite end, next to the parking area. read more

Ive NEVER EVER left a negative review and it actually hurts to tell yall i was shocked at the dirt n even the smell upon walkn in my room. I go to places that are inexpensive WITH average reviews. Im s Marine/Army vet traveling the USA and ill sleep ANYYYYWHERE i realy dont care. Ill say the folks were VERY NIICE and thats very important. Im guessing between humans having a wide range if standards and EACH ROOM most likely getting more OR LESS attention to detail, we will have many diferent opinions. Also the room was not swept or mopped in a very long time. The countertops were dirty AND sticky with coke or sugar something. Not sure if the sheets were clean and the pillows were MANY YEARS OLD, flat flat flat n veryyyy dirty, scary dirty. How do i know??? Because there was NO PILLOWCASES ON THEM. I thot bcuz i chekt in at 930pm the room would be clean n ready... NOT !!!! Ok im sorry but i hope my review will help in some way. There were no bugs and the folks were very nice. What a great lil place...Let me start with the new management...Really good people....They are very personable and friendly...They are verry attentive to the needs of your stay which is easy with 10-12 units here. The motel does have some age to it yet it is being kept up and they are working on something everyday it seems to maintain...... I was in a front unit it was very clean...the only downfall is the road noise yet i slept with the window open because the weather was very pleasant. If your here on business and need a desk and room to spread out it probably wont work for you....yet i was here for that and just walked down to the Starbucks 3 blocks away it was fine...... There is really no comparison if your use to a Hilton, Four Seasons, or Marriott however for a traveler with the need to sleep with only a few moving parts you will be just fine......I felt safe here..... They have good internet and dish Tv.... If you are into staying away from the big hotel chains this is a great place...I have traveled all over the country and stayed at independents and this one is definitely is a place I will recommend and use again. Please do not stay here! They stole 100's of dollars worth of stuff. They said they threw it away after they missed the checkout time. They even took a wallet with cash and Id. They could have put it in lost and found. They obviously stole everything vs tossing. BEWARE! The front desk person was super rude about it and they hung up on them when they called later. Police report will be filed Again they threw away her wallet with cash, debit card and license, also hundreds of dollars worth of makeup and even a large make up mirror, including several clothing items, shoes ect. Really you can't just put that stuff in the office for a few hours? It was wrong to throw it away if that's what even happened. Someone wouldn't abandon all that stuff, she was stuck at work. They need to compensate her for stuff immediately. Again police report will be filed and small claims court if need be. We're not letting this one go! read more

I can easily change this review to a positive, but first. I was planning on staying here because I like small towns like Oakdale and I have several friends who live there, but after reading all the unprofessional comments coming from the owners of all people attacking paying guests and their reviews who have stayed here like a bunch of troublemaking girls arguing back and forth like it was some sort of wayward, dramatic, teenage high school, it doesn't sound like a place I'd feel comfortable staying in. What business owner feels the need to defend reviews in such childish ways that only further make them look bad? As a business owner myself, I do know that guests are entitled to leave reviews whether they be good or bad. You don't repost and say "That person never stayed here! That person is lying! That person left before we could give her back the deposit! You don't write reviews for a friend!" Under no circumstances should a business owner retaliate in such a childish, unprofessional and unethical manner. It only hurts the business displaying uncivilized conduct, juvenile behavior and giving proof of actually acting upon the negative reviews that were left. It's called projection: The owners are telling people not to act upon or do certain things against policy, when entail, they're doing the exact same things themselves. It happens more often than not especially when it's a family owned business and it's cause for failure. It's a business and family members who don't do their part to maintain it, should stay out of it and let the responsible ones handle it. It's best to review all negative reviews, address them and live up to promises of further improvement without the childish comments. I know it's hard to swallow, but don't take it personally. Look out for your business and above all, make people want to come back. Every business gets slammed with negative reviews, but it's how you handle them professionally that make a huge difference and gives the impression that you really are trying and believe it or not, many people would be more than happy to give you a chance. Leave your pride at the door and do whatever it takes to make that guest wanting to stay with you next time around, and if certain guest are troublesome, you ask them once to tone it down and follow the rules and if that doesn't help, you have the right to get law enforcement involved and have them removed from the property without disrupting the other guests. And as far as the smoking goes, have a designated area away from the rooms on the opposite side of the office near the sidewalk. Many motels have ashtrays in their parking lots for the people who do smoke. The last motel I stayed in was THE CAPRI in Santa Cruz and they had a round table with 3 chairs and an ashtray in the middle away from the rooms. Worked like a charm because everyone was warned they were allowed to smoke outside, just no smoking inside. So the guest is taking that chance and can't really complain about it, because they were warned at the office. I'm also a quiet smoker, don't care to chat, just get my fix and want to go to bed. Smokers will appreciate the policy and most likely not bother anyone at all. Just be cautious of drunks who will ruin it for everyone else, and severely irritate the owners. This place is great. My son and I stayed there and the remodeled rooms are very nice. On 4th of July the owners and their kids invited us outside to set off fireworks.it was a nice distraction from what we were going through. Can't say enough kind words about the family that runs the place. Very attentive,and any time you need help they were there in a second. My family and I are from NM. Not knowing what to expect I had heard it was a "rougher" place to stay. Under the new management it was a pleasure to stay here. Two beds, flat screen w/ Direct TV, fridge and microwave. Beds were comfortable, room was clean and the management was amazing. When I come back to Oakdale I will not just come back for the incredibly low price but the comfort and management too. Extremely quite all night. Air conditioner worked fabulous. Comfortable beds. Business claims they have 24hr front desk, but when I arrived at 12:30 am. Front desk was locked and no one answered when I knocked. I also called the business number twice with no answer. I had to book another room at another location. When I returned to Jerry's they told me that I was charged for my room. When I explained to them I was there and the front desk was closed. They began being very rude and didn't want to talk to me no more. They were no sorry. Ironic they had a sign inside the front desk that said" we care about customer service". If you need an inexpensive place to stay in Oakdale, you can't do better than Jerry's. You'll pay about 40% less than at a chain motel. This is an especially good motel if you are missing the sound of your family; urchin-like children played outside my room until the hot summer evening cooled off. My room was mostly filled by the bed, but it was clean and the mini-fridge and microwave made it easy to play bachelor for a night. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!! I was an hour late for checkout and they emptied out the room and threw all my belongings in the dumpster and the dump truck took it away. I now am left with nothing to my name. The mgmt was extremely rude and yelled at me while I cried when i found out. A friend called the motel for me to discuss this issue and they were extremely rude and hung up on her. Not to mention the room was absolutely filthy and disgusting. The room did not receive any change of sheets or extra towels throughout our stay. We initially came to Oakdale to camp, but apparently we needed reservations 2 weeks in advance. Hence, we ended up at Jerry's. I'm basing the 5 stars on the price, availability and cleanliness of rooms. We called, made a reservation and in 20 minutes, we had our room. It was small but very clean and comfy, had direct tv, free wifi, and the staff were very nice! The owner even let me take a pillow for my upcoming 3 week camping excursion coming up. I couldnt ask for more hospitality. If you're in the area and font want to pay the triple digit sums the holiday and comfort inn asks for, then stay at Jerry's. :) read more

The worst experience I've had at a hotel. I was robbed my the clerk who took my deposit and kicked me out on suspicion of me having cannabis on the "grounds" of the hotel. I was only there less than an an hour and I was approached immediately while standing outside of my room. She claimed to know that I had cannabis in my possession even though though there was absolutely no proof. She claimed she would call the authorities if I didn't leave in 10 min. Stunned I did as she said, while on the way out asked for my deposit and she refused to give it to me. Her teeth said it all. In the midst of this I saw an obvious transaction between her and others around the facinity (there went my $100 bill). Overall, it was ridiculous and a scam with out a doubt. I even booked a reservation online prior which wouldn't have required a deposit. This was for the last room which she claimed was never transmitting on her end. Our stay at this filthy roach infested facility was a nightmare!!! We came to this cute town to visit with family who had just recently moved to Oakdale 2 weeks ago. Picking this hotel was the only option due to the other hotels being booked. We now wish we would of slept in our car. Not only was our room a complete mess (Bed had no sheet on it and there was an empty soda can on the TV) but there was literally dirt in the bed, and cigarette holes in the comforter. At night you could also hear the mice in the walls!!!! FILTHY!! Not to mention the VERY VERY RUDE dark haired toothless woman who we waited on for 5 minutes to check us in! I stayed at Jerry's for 5 weeks while on a travel assignment for work, and found it to be very nice! The manager Sarah is so accommodating, welcoming, and kind. I appreciate the free parking, WiFi, and cable. I stayed in a larger 2-Queen bed unit with a full kitchen equipped with a gas range, full size refrigerator, and microwave. The only thing I would change is to do away with the old carpet and replace with some area rugs. They offered a VERY reasonable weekly rate. read more

My boyfriend and I were planning a trip to Hetch Hetchy and were looking for a place to stay that was somewhat close by, but not going to completely empty out our pocket books. After much research, we found Jerry's Motel in Oakdale. This was a cute one story place with a lovely courtyard in the middle. Our room was off the main street, so it was nice and quiet. The room was a bit small, but we also had a lot of stuff (such as 2 bikes) with us that made it seem smaller still, but without our bikes the room was a decent size. The room was clean and the bathroom had a window which i love. There was a mini-fridge an microwave which is always much appreciated and the Wi-Fi was free. The town of Oakdale is really cute too. There were a ton of restaurants within walking distance and a particularly good Chinese buffet called the Grand Buffet. I would definitely recommend this hotel. read more

Worst experience ever!! I made reservations using an app for just myself, later on that day my wife and two children (4 and 14) would be accompanying me so I requested over the phone that my wife check in for me because I was going to b late but the lady on the phone said no, at that time I also had also stated that my children will be coming with her. When they arrived at the Motel they waited until I arrived at around 10 PM. When I attempted to check into the room it was a lady taking care of us and she was extremely rude. When we were going into the room, after dealing with her attitude, my son and I were going so my wife could check in with her ID when the lady told my wife that our stay was being revoked due to us hiding people (I wasn't hiding him, I just thought that they knew about him from our previous conversation). When I showed them that the person I was "hiding" was my 14-year-old son they still refused our stay. They didn't offer any type of refund or nothing. I feel like it was a set up from the gate because she was rude right from the beginning, we slept in our car. Do not go here, they're a scam, they are just trying to take your money. Staff watched every more that you made there was no privacy. Staff complained about price we paid on line and said we should have paid more she stated that because we booked online we paid winter rates but this was 04/12/13-04/13/13 and was still winter rates. The room was very small and there was no chair or table or coffee pot in the room. We could only park one car at the motel since that was "corporation policy" although we had two cars. We could only have 1 towel each since that was "corporation policy." There was no ice machine, no snack or soda machine. The neighborhood was a very "dangerous neighborhood" real ghetto. When my husband decided to go ahead and spend the week end with my sister and I he was coming in through the front door and immediately we were phoned in the room and were told that since we had a guest if that guest intended to stay over night we had to immediately pay them extra money. Which I intended to do and was already headed to the office to pay them. They watched every where we went and were like policemen since my husband parked in a space they called the room again and said he could not even unload his vehicle since his car could not be on the motel property since we already had one car parked there. WE WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN IT WAS AWFUL!!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MOTEL TO ANYONE WHO WANTED TO HAVE A NICE STAY AT A MOTEL. From the moment I pulled into their insufficient "parking lot" (more of a driveway with white lines painted on the side) the area reeked of cigarette smoke from a couple smoking inches from the public entryway to the office. Once inside the office to check in, I was assaulted by heavy odors of cigarette smoke to the point I had began tearing up. Checking us in was a nice, younger gentleman but standing just over his shoulder was a middle-aged brunette lady who never stopped scowling at me while checking in. After this I was to make it a point to keep my dealings with the management to a minimum. Upon opening the door to our room, a milder scent of stale cigarette smoke greeted us, along with the scattering of a few cockroaches. We had a front-facing room so the noise from the highway was too loud to allow us to have a window open for air. Hoping to turn to the air conditioner on to cool the room down, I was disappointed to see the controls for it were mounted nearly at ceiling-level requiring me to awkwardly try to balance standing on top of the bed to manipulate them. Once relatively comfortable inside the room, while we made trips to bring our luggage from my vehicle to our room, the couple who was smoking upon our arrival (presumably the owners) wouldn't stop watching our every as if we were some petty criminals attempting to rob them of their livelihood. This was the final straw so we packed up and left and headed to the Holiday Motel where prices were even cheaper and friendly hospitality. I will never consider Jerry's Motel again, even for the price and the "cute" pictures they advertise online. The management smoke immediately outside the rooms though they are "non-smoking" and will watch your every move as if you were some alien species during your entire stay. read more
