Tried to replace it herself via Youtube and was unable to. Brought it to Broadway and Andy took a lot of time to show her step by step how to do it herself next time it happens! Didnt even charge us for the restring! So to make up for it, we bought an awesome new guitar case and a tool to help with restringing. They also refurnished her older (first) electric guitar (a cheap secondhand ION) a few months earlier with new pickups, cleaned the entire guitar and did such a great job..Forget Amazon crap or Guitar Center...will support this local small business for now on. My 11 year old has grown SO much in his piano, and my 8 year old, her violin playing amazes me! And, I have to say I have the most difficult 6 year old (personality-wise) and how Mr. Alex is able to teach her ukulele is beyond me. He has the patience of a saint. The two older ones also take voice, at first we just started it to offset the fact that their friends were in summer sports and they weren't interested; however, they didn't want to stop when school started. Being at HGS is something we all look forward to every week. Not only are the teacher talented, and REAL working musicians, but they have a caring for children that I do not think we would find somewhere else. I would recommend them to anyone!

The Gig sort of keeps alive stores that I used to frequent before they became obsolete. I miss…read morestores like "The Loop" and "Hegwisch Records", but stores like the Gig keep my faith alive that the sun still can continue to shine even when good things go away. The owner is extremely friendly and down to earth, and always plays good music. Sometimes he might even be playing guitar right in the store, all nonchalantly. I mean, come on, that's awesome. They have a pretty decent record collection, a decent guitar selection, a nice band t-shirt selection, cd's, and even some laser discs. They are also one of the few places left in the area that buys compact discs from you, and even VHS as well. There are just not enough cool record stores around these days, with real music lovers and a real selection. The Gig is the place to go to support real record stores if you live near highland or are visiting the area.
