recently moved to JC and looking to get a tattoo. I set an appointment here after reading reviews, the host was nice and accommodating from the start. Once you arrive you must fill out a form and then the artist comes to talk to you about your tattoo. The artist name leaves me but he is a slim kid. I told him what I wanted and he went back to sketch took a few tries and we got it. My friend then came and he tatoo'd her as well. I kinda felt bad for the guy the way she kept changing her mind but he did not seem frustrated at all. My tattoo was very simple and didn't take long. He skillfully made it as painless as he could. Damn it hurt My fiancé ended up coming back the next week to get one as well. One thing I wished was stated was the price of the tattoo before conducting the service but maybe that's just me.

Adam recently did a very personal piece for me. Despite the confusion when it came to the Apple Pay on my part. Adam was very patient, helpful, and kind. He was very gentle and delicate with me. I can't stop looking at this tattoo. Thank you once again Adam. And this time, I will actually have a physical card and not rely solely upon technology! I highly recommend this shop. I've previously gotten tattoos from here but this time, I got a piercing here by Shasta. I came in for a tragus and third lobe piercing at JC Tattoos because they are one of the few places that uses a needle instead of a piercing gun. The piercing gun is painful, not accurate and the healing process for it is unpredictable (Ah, highschool memories). Shasta is very friendly, knowledgeable, informative and talks to you throughout the whole process. She tells you what she'll do and what you'll feel - to me, it makes me think about it more - but it is necessary so your mind doesn't go into fight mode and you move. She is very responsive of any questions or concerns. The piercings only hurt with the initial stabbing and my ear only stayed warm for the first two hours. The day after, there was no bleeding and no pain (I did accidentally hit it a few times and I was still sensitive). But the days after that were like I've had these piercings for years already. My piercings healed perfectly. Thanks Shasta!

Came in a few weeks ago without an appointment to get a second piercing in both ears, as well as my first helix piercing. Shasta was SO nice, welcoming, accommodating, and kept it real about what to expect, how to care for my piercing (especially in COVID times with masks), and the entire appointment was really excellent. Everyone at the shop was really friendly and as a side note, the music was excellent. Definitely going back for some more piercings soon!

My girlfriend's nose piercing fell out this morning, we called to see if they could replace it and they were able to take us in! I decided last minute to get my septum repierced, as it had fell out a year ago. Shasta, I believe her name was, was so sweet! The piercing was originally 80 for me, but since we had so many complications with it, she charged me 60 and threw in a free Saline! She is very experienced and very sweet. I'm a crybaby when it came to pain and she already has tissue waiting for me. I'm definitely considering making her my main piercer, and may even come back to get my ear lobes stretched.

This was not the shop I got my first piercing at but I keep coming back here because of how careful and helpful Shasta is with her customers and it shows. For my first piercing, she gave me a sheet with tips/advice on aftercare for my piercing and I really appreciated that. You can tell she loves her job and she really cares for her clients! Please go to her the next time you want to get a piercing, you will not regret it!

This place has really bad customer service and Adam is the worst. I have asked for a quote on a tattoo and he claimed he does eyebrow tattoos meanwhile there is no such thing in his portfolio. I sent him and photo and never heard back. What kind of customer service is that? I'd never recommend this god aweful place.

I went in to get a double helix and it went extremely quick, easy and professionally. The really enthusiastic cute chick with pink hair is the one who did my piercing, I believe Shasta is her name. She was very knowledgeable and is able to keep a good conversation if that's your style, but I noticed for those who don't really want to talk she's fine with that too.

Finally gave into my impulses and got my septum done by Shasta. I read reviews about how amazing of a piercer Shasta is and I can say it's all true- not to mention she is super sweet and cute (added bonus). Shasta was super informative and knowledgeable about her craft. She even gave me sites to buy piercings from and even offered to change it for me once I'm healed. 11/10 recommend Shasta & JC tattoo . Piercing was $80, pain 1/10.

I walked in to the tattoo shop and showed my design to Adam. He gave me an appointment an hour later; and when I went back he had the tattoo all traced and ready to go. Adam's folks at the shop are very professional and they knew exactly how to speak with their customers. Adam is a great artist and he knew a little bit of background of the tattoo which helped us to get exactly what we wanted. We could clearly say Adam has a lot of experience and can give what you want in terms of the very close details and intricacy. I definitely suggest you to go here if you are around Jersey City. - V

I've been coming here for years! Everyone who works here is great, I can't recommend this shop enough. It's clean, the employees are wonderful, they do great work, and they care about everyone who walks through the door. It's a fun atmosphere and you can tell everyone is passionate about their work. I've previously gotten tattoos from here but this time, I got a piercing here by Shasta. Shasta is very friendly, knowledgeable, informative and talks to you throughout the whole process. She tells you what she'll do and what you'll feel - to me, it makes me think about it more - but it is necessary so your mind doesn't go into fight mode and you move. I can't say enough good things about them. I've had two piercings done by Shasta, and two tattoo's done by Wil (so far). I'm absolutely going to get more in the future because all my visits have been excellent. I'm from out of town and travel 90 minutes into Jersey City to go to them because I trust them way more than anyone else. I frequently get compliments on the line work of my tattoos, and on top of being great work, Wil is FAST. I'm always out way faster than I expect. Shasta's got a good selection of jewelry, and I've never had an issue getting a walk-in with her. She's also super friendly so I often chat with her while I'm waiting for my tattoo appointment. read more

I have wanted a septum piercing for months. Did research, decided on Jersey City Tattoo this past weekend. Everything took 10 minutes between walking in and walking out. Shasta is my go to for piercings! I got a daith earlier this year and will be coming back for more. She's incredibly responsive and gentle. I didn't feel a thing and she was very kind when answering all my questions before and after. Her aftercare instructions follow the latest best practice and she posts informative graphics on her Instagram so it's definitely worth a follow (@piercingsbyshasta). I have other piercings, but I've learned a ton more from her. You can tell she cares for people & takes pride in her work. She's a true gem of a person with a bright spirit and, if you go to her, you'll be in good hands. Jersey City Tattoo is also a professional and quiet spot away from the main pedestrian area. I haven't gotten a tattoo here but my friend goes to Kevin who does fabulous work. Ermisart has fun designs as well. Highly recommend all around! read more

I actually used Yelp to find this shop and I'm so glad I did. All the positive reviews are true. Great work in a great atmosphere. My sister and I were seen as walk-ins on a random Tuesday afternoon. Adam helped her perfect a hand drawn design she'd brought in. In just a couple minutes she had her very first tattoo and LOVED IT! I proved to be a bit more difficult since what I wanted was basically impossible. Adam could have just tattooed the designs I kept coming up with but didn't because he knew that over time they just would not work. Ultimately, the tattoo I got was for more beautiful then the ones I THOUGHT I wanted. So happy I went here. This will forever more be my tattoo spot. In fact, I'm working on my next idea already! read more

I came in about a year ago to get a small & simple heart tattoo on my hip. I went to adam because he did a couple of other small tattoos behind my ear and they came out well. This time I was severely disappointed with the results. The line work is garbage for such a simple tattoo. I'm not going back to the same place that botched a tattoo to get it fixed, so i'll be paying more money just to get the line evened out. read more

I went in with my wife for my very first tattoo. Wedding day let's get a tattoo. For be "LOVE" in Morse code. I left with LOVE. By day to I had LMVE. The bars has all melted together. It looks horrible. I even made an appointment with bang bang tattoo to try and get it fixed. I am going to have to get it laser removed and done Super unhappy. Reviews of this place may be wonderful but if you want fine line work done, go elsewhere. read more

I've been overdue in giving these guys a writeup. Adam has tattooed me 3 times now, including my first one with 2 large pieces following that, and I absolutely refer to him as "my usual guy" when discussing tattoos without hesitation. Very fast worker, but not rushing or sloppy at all, but meticulous about detail without farting around and wasting time/money. I can't speak for the other artists here personally but their portfolios are all impressive. My first time in was with 2 out of town friends who were both tattooed by Jason and were very happy to the point that one has driven back to jersey from Rhode Island strictly just to be worked on here, so that's something! It's a clean place, the rates are competitive and everyone here knows their stuff, hard to ask for much better. read more

I walked in on a whim the Saturday before Christmas and Diana was able to make my vision come true. I wanted a small, sparkling, Christmas tree on the bottom of my foot but didn't want any color. She flawlessly combined black, grey, and white to create what is now my favorite tattoo. It was quick, efficient, and about as pain free as she could have made it. Happy to have found her! read more

Really enjoyed getting my first tattoo here! Pier was very professional and kind. The shop is small but clean and the atmosphere is relaxed. I got a small wrist tattoo and terrivle with needles so about halfway through I began to feel a bit lightheaded. The guys put me at ease and took care of me (water, snacks, let me lie down) Price was reasonable for the area. Wrist tattoo with 1 color and shading was about $120 Thanks to Pier again! My first tattoo (at 46 lol) and I could not be more impressed In the first few minutes of speaking with them , you can tell that they are really passionate professionals. They spent a lot of time discussing , drawing examples , tweeking examples and finding out EXACTLY what I was looking for Not at all what I was expecting. During my couple hours in the chair , I felt like I was amongst a group of friends I've known for years. About 2 months ago I had Shasta do a flat helix piercing for me and then yesterday she downsized it. She's very knowledgeable and gave great advice for piercing aftercare. I've been here twice and I don't think I'll ever stray. The shop is clean, everyone is extremely professional, and you aren't met with the typical pretentious attitudes of other tattoo parlors. I've gotten 3 pieces done by Jason, who is incredible at what he does. His line work is immaculate and his attention to detail is astounding. I've brought two friends in for work from him, as well, and no disappointment has been met. Bringing in a new friend tomorrow for his first tattoo and a 1/4 sleeve for myself. Shasta is awesome! Walked in to get a triple piercing on my ear but wanted to make sure I'll feel comfortable with the piercer. Shasta was so nice and professional. The place smells super clean and the staff goes above and beyond to make sure their strict cleaning protocols are followed. Shasta took her time finding the perfect placement and making sure I'm comfortable before she did the piercing. It's been over a week now and no infection! I highly recommend this place! read more

Had a good experience here! I walked in and right away got a good vibe. You know how sometimes you walk into a tattoo shop and it feels a little dark and sketchy? Not that vibe at all here. It's a welcoming vibe, you can see they are a clean shop. Before I started getting my tattoo done, they opened all new utensils. The man who did my tattoo was very throughout and triple checked with me before starting. Making sure his drawing was exactly correct. He did make a correction or two and he did not seem annoyed or anything about making changes to the drawing. I would for sure come back here for another tattoo or piercing! read more

There were few seats in the waiting area and all were full. Its recommended to make an appointment especially on the weekend. Tiara was very professional, polite, and clean. She wore gloves and washed her hands every time she touched someone. My appt was at 345pm and I opted to get numbing cream for my little one. The numbing cream has to be applied 30 mins before the piercing so get here early if you want numbing. My little one doesnt like her personal space invaded so the experience was interesting- she hollered like crazy while Tiara drew dots on her ears. My husband held the baby still while Tiara used the piercing gun. The baby didnt even flinch! The price was a little high but so worth it! Highly recommended!

Uneven piercing and UNPROFESSIONAL to add insult to injury…read more We went to get our 10 month old daughter's ears pierced. After marking the ears by one technician, another technician came so they could pierce both ears at once (which I really appreciated). Unfortunately, thereafter, my husband and I noted that the earrings were asymmetrical. I went back to enquire about what to do to fix the situation (no yelling or fuss, just "what to do now".) The original technician was gracious and apologetic and simply stated that we could take the earring out, have the hole heal and re-pierce within a week or 2. The additional one who made the error was defensive and started (out of the blue) offering excuses as to why the piercings were uneven--stating that her ears were asymmetrical and that we can't expect the holes to be perfectly even. After removing the earring, it was clear that the 2nd tech simply didn't pierce on the marking. We didn't argue or bring this to their attention, we simply wanted to fix it and move on. Upon return to get the ears repierced, we told a woman working there that we were there to fix a piercing. She was nice enough. Another technician (who may have been the same one who made the error) started helping us. We showed the picture of the hole vs where the marking was to help indicate where we wanted the correct hole to go. The technician stated that it's likely because my daughter moved. I have video of the piercing and this was not the case. The technician once again started making excuses saying the indicated mark was too low, that's why the piercing was made higher. If this were the case, that should've been discussed BEFORE unnecessarily causing my daughter pain by piercing her ears unevenly. At this point, I just wanted to get the piercing done and over with. We made our marks (which were similar to the original mark) and the technician in an effort to once again justify the previous error stated that the new mark was where the old scar was (incorrect). Please keep in mind that at no point was I demanding answers or making a fuss so I have no idea why this tech kept making excuses for what was already an error on their part. It was insulting to my intelligence and infuriating. Not to mention that my daughter had to go through this twice unnecessarily AND that we are busy people who would prefer not to be dealing with this. These people need to take a lesson in proper customer service and not making excuses for their mistakes. They should've been happy that I simply wanted it fixed and was not making a huge fuss over their error. I wouldn't have even written a negative review if they simply owned the mistake and fixed it. But here we are. Use at your own risk.

Other than the doctor's office, the Piercing Pagoda is the place to go for ear piercings. There's a large selection of earrings to chose from, and all of the workers are trained for ear piercings. Just from my personal experience, if you have a younger child (like three and under), I do suggest going to the doctor - not because they won't do a good job at Piercing Pagoda, but just because the environment may make your child nervous. It's a kiosk in the middle of a mall, and younger children may feel uncomfortable because they don't understand what's going on. Anyhoo... I'm writing about my last experience, which was last Saturday. I went with my niece and sister-in-law to get her ears pierced for the first time. She's 7, and was a little scared, so I went first (lol) for moral support. The ladies were absolutely wonderful. They made her feel comfortable, even when she began to freak out a bit, and didn't rush the process. They kept readjusting the dot to make sure the earrings were even, and they even offered to do both ears at the same time to get it over with. My SIL tried to tip them, but they wouldn't take the money. The whole experience was super pleasant, and my SIL said it was even better then the doctor. At the end of the experience, when we thanked them, the ladies said "It's our absolute pleasure." You could tell they really enjoyed working there. And, as a bonus...for some reason, the stone fell out of my earring. I went back to the Piercing Pagoda to see if they could replace it, and they did without question. I DID purchase the insurance, which came in handy...so you may want to consider that if you get your ears pierced here. Also, their recommended ear cleaner is the bomb. If you buy it with your piercing, they discount it for you. I've never had an ear piercing heal up so fast - one week later and there is barely any soreness. As soon as you spray the cleaner on, it immediately soothes the piercing and reduces redness. Amazing! Thank you to the ladies at this Piercing Pagoda that made our experience so special. By the way, they recently rebranded their company, and now they are "Banter" by Piercing Pagoda.

I've been meaning to leave a review for some time now, because I feel some praise is due for my girl Niki, the piercer at Jersey City Tattoo Co. I've been coming to her for over 6 years now... from the very first cartilage piercing ages ago, to my most recent visit, and everything in between. During my most recent visit, I finally took the plunge and got both nipples and a christina piercing. I was a little nervous to finally get them done, but she put me at ease, and now I couldn't be happier with the results! But then again, I've come to expect that by now. At this point, I couldn't imagine giving my business to anyone else. Very few people in this industry can match her professionalism and medical background. One of the biggest things you want in a piercer is the comfort of knowing that they have experience. She has that, and then some... she's been in this business for over 15 years. You won't easily find her level of expertise anywhere else. She's incredibly knowledgeable and thorough, makes sure your comfortable and at ease, and explains the process and aftercare, start to finish. I'm happy with my tattoos, and I've seen plenty of other great ink come out of this shop. Andy Perez is my artist, and Adam and Chuck are the other two artists there. All three have fine portfolios, in my opinion. It's clean, the artists are professionals, there's minimal attitude, and for the geographic area and the quality of work that's done, the price is reasonable. It's also not one of those tattoo shops that seems to be more of a hang-out spot than anything else, so when you go in for a consultation or to get work done, you get the artist's full attention and you don't have to put up with a bunch of jerks falling over themselves to prove how cool they are. As a female entering into a tattoo shop -- a place that often feels like a boys' tree-house -- I pay close attention to how I'm treated when I come in the door, and the folks at JC Tattoo have made me feel welcome. I had my septum pierced here the other day by Niki. The whole experience was great! Niki is very knowledge and with my septum having a lot of scare tissue from previous piercings, she was very up front that I may not be able to get it done. I gave him a logo design to use, and he printed it in 3 different sizes for me to see how it would look on my arm, and let me know how detailed it would be for each size. I appreciated the attention to detail. His workspace was clean. His set-up, his professionalism on point, as was the other artists. You could tell they enjoyed working there, and had a passion for their art. I felt comfortable asking Irv anything about my current tattoo, his artistic history, music, and the shop. My tattoo came out perfect, and as homage to my friend who had passed away, it brought me joy to know it was done in such a shop with great energy. I got lots of info on aftercare, and even came back the next day so Irv could check if my skin had any reactions to the work, or if the covering needed to be replaced. I'd definitely recommend this shop to anyone who asks, and I'm considering going back again to freshen up an old tattoo.

They will dissapoint. Lets begin: I've been to this shop twice - Once for fang bites and second for 3 tattoos. The piercing was mediocre and took so long to heal I removed them The tattoos - the reason for this post 3 identical small approx .5" design consiting of lines and dots, VERY simple: one color same needle. One located on my ring finger and the other two, one on each knee (see attached) Artist Lorenzo, was advised mutliple times prior to signing the release paperwork, providing ID and in my greatest opinion, overpayment of $150 of my skin type and absorbant (in terms of ink) skin I have. The first alarm was these small tats hurt like HELL (I've slept through most of my tattoos) When I spoke to the artist, he advised he knew what he was doing and proceeded. I could tell immediately my skin was damaged and the tattoo wouldnt heal correctly - I gave my skin beyond the time needed to heal and the tattoos look exactly the same as they did the day they were incorrectly given. I went back to the shop and attempted to speak with Mike, alleged manager - who advised this is how tattoos are suppose to look and became immediately defensive. Current: It has been almost a year and ALL three of my tattoos have bled over horribly. Lorenzo RUINED the aesthetic of my ring finger and DAMAGED my skin in an incorrectable way. STAY AWAY!!!

Many times I'll ask for his artistic impression because I think he is so talented that I'd rather him decide vs me! Once I found MJ, I knew it was she! It was easy to schedule an initial consult over email. I had sent some examples ahead of time, but we ended up talking a lot since I seemed drawn to a lot of different styles or subjects. Ultimately, when I saw the design MJ created, it was spot on - beyond what I could have described. She totally knew how to translate my jumbled thoughts into something beautiful. My design was $2k+, and it took just under 3 hours. MJ is serious about her craft. She was very focused, not too much chitchat. She has a different healing regimen than I had heard before, but it healed incredibly well. I took advantage of the free touch up (within 6 months). It only took 10 minutes. Worth it!
