I recently visited Iris on a Saturday afternoon and even though the studio was busy, I was still immediately welcomed in and attended to. I needed an earring inserted that I didn't even buy there in a hole that I couldn't quite get to (my cartilage)! I got a helix and rook piercing from Carly and the experience was amazing from beginning to end. She was really patient with me, I couldn't really verbalize my questions but she totally understood me. She took the time to go over the angle, my ear anatomy, recommended gauge and overall design. I had gone to iris as my third option as I had been to two piercing shops before to ask about an industrial piercing. For one reason or another the other two were unable to (didn't have the right jewelry/only checked one ear not the other for fitting). I had been going to Iris for years and upon my recommendation had brought friends and family. Last spring (around March or April) My Pupil Hall earring broke and I brought it in for a repair. I loved this earring and free repairs are supposed to be a selling point for this brand. After waiting for months and 3 rounds of screw ups (the wrong earring, wrong earring size, and a defective earring), in August (yes, August) I asked to speak with the owner. I was confused because they were just supposed to be fixing my earring, not replacing it. The owner refused to call or email me directly and instead sent the studio staff to deal with these mistakes. They would not give out the owners contact info. The studio staff and piercers are largely great but it's strange that the owner of a store would refuse to speak with a client about something like this. It's especially strange because the owner has a connection (maybe married) to the owner of Pupil Hall. One would think that this would expedite and make the process simple but it was the opposite. It's unfortunate. This used to be my go-to but there are many piercing places in the city and I suggest you go there. If something goes wrong here you're on your own and they don't stand by their promises. And don't be fooled by Pupil Hall. The jewelry is beautiful but poorly made. So after 4 months, I never got my earring, I got a refund. read more

I brought my teenage daughter here on Saturday to get her nose pierced. The staff attentive and welcoming, and the studio and piercing area were pristinely clean. Everyone on staff made her feel at ease in a situation she was nervous to enter. Her nerves calmed as soon as she was in their friendly environment. The staff was extremely helpful in guiding us through the process of selecting the proper jewelry for her and never tried to upsell us. They let us lead the process and honestly answered (such as one would be too large a gauge for this piercing). Carly did the piercing and we could not be happier that they were the one to do this. They were friendly, calm and had a great way of talking to my daughter to explain the full process and the steps easing her mind. My daughter not only left excited for her new piercing but happy with her full experience and how Carly treated her. For sure any future piercing for myself and my family will be here. To top it all off, the pricing was very reasonable especially for such great service and the scheduling process (and my needed to reschedule a few days prior) was super easy. read more

Just had the best piercing experience of my life here!!! I'm not big on writing Yelp reviews but everyone needs to know about how amazing this place is. Everyone at the studio is so so lovely, friendly and considerate. Their jewelry selection is full of gorgeous pieces, all of which are reasonably priced. Priscilla showed me all my options and helped me pick out something great for my conch. I had to get my retired conch piercing repierced (originally pierced at a different studio 2 years ago), and Janeese walked me through the whole thing. They told me they'd first check if it could be stretched rather than completely repiercing and told me what they were doing each step of the way and making sure I wasn't in too much pain -which I wasn't at all, they were so gentle and careful!! We ended up fully repiercing it because of the way it had healed since being taken out, and again they walked me through it step by step. The fact that it had been pierced before may have helped with the pain, but I'm inclined to believe that it was Janeese's skills and manner that made this easily the least painful piercing experience of my life. The wonderful treatment that these folks provide their customers made this such an easy and stress free experience. I'll absolutely be back !! I was incredibly nervous to get even second-hole piercings on my earlobes. I live in midtown but picked Iris because it was the only place in greater New York that had zero reviews with horror stories. (And I'm always afraid I'll be the horror story.) Janeese and Priscilla were so compassionate, competent, and friendly. They alleviated my nerves and did a great job on the actual piercing. Spacing is great. Sleeping on my side hurt a little for a couple nights but that was it. Priscilla recommended buying no special solution (even tho it would've meant more money for the store) bc she said that, in her experience, the best healing comes when the body just does the work itself and that the solution tends to dry the skin out and make things worse. I never had any pain or oozing or flaking or ickiness of any kind. This morning, after seven weeks of being very patient and good, I took out the piercing earrings and finally put in my own. Absolutely the best possible first experience getting a piercing I could have possibly hoped for. Got my first earlobe piercing ever and had such a great experience I went back immediately for a nipple piercing, and my wife tried to get a belly piercing (but sadly the consultation said she didn't have enough space in her belly button to pull that off) and the two friends with us also decided to get their first cartilage ear piercing and first ever piercing after seeing how good everyone was and what lengths they went to to make sure everything went absolutely flawlessly. Can't possibly recommend more heavily - there's no reason to go anywhere else when this place is this good. Its April 2020 (think pandemic social distancing time ) and a sternum surface piercing that I've had for 11 years started to become problematic out of the blue. I started to feel like an infection was coming along. Naturally I can't just run to a piercing parlor for help because all businesses are closed- but I decided to reach out to Iris via Instagram because I'd started panicking imagining that an infection was gonna eat it's way through my chest- and I wouldn't be able to go to the hospital without also contracting corona virus while there. ‍ Vanessa responded to me on both IG and email within the hour and was super helpful in directing me on how to remove the piercing. I had tried a handful of times in the past with no luck so I always assumed it was stuck but with Vanessa's specific directions I was finally able to remove the piercing. Been going to Iris for 4+ years now. Regardless of the $$ price, i've been a loyal customer due to their customer service, quality of service and of course, the gorgeous jewelry. With covid, their safety measures have exponentially increased, which I appreciate. I believe they have a new head piercer and gallery assistant (Janeese and Carly) and both are lovely. Janeese is the first piercer I've experienced who talks you throughout the process -- she's a gentle badass, if that makes sense. I'm not a novice when it comes to unusual ear piercings, so when I got the itch for another I knew I had to pick a studio that met all of my standards. I made note of Iris Studio in the past when I was considering changing some jewelry but never got around to actually doing it. I decided to get my daith pierced the day after Christmas and revisted my studio search. I called Iris the same day and was welcomed to walk in. 2 hours later, I was picking out jewelry. I appreciate that they were able to allow me to look at multiple pieces outside of the glass. They provided a mirror and little tool to allow me to hold the pieces to my ear to see how the jewelry would sit. I agree with previous Yelpers that they do not have an extensive selection of jewelry but they have enough to provide variety and what they do have is more unique than your standard pieces. Quality over quantity. Tobias did my daith and he made me feel incredibly comfortable. The sterilization method was very hygienic and how he marked my ear was meticulous and not rushed. He removed my other piercings in the area to reduce discomfort if he were to lean into them and put them back in after he was finished. The piercing itself was the LEAST painful I have ever felt and that's saying a lot for the density of the daith cartilage. I was so impressed and grateful! Within minutes my ear felt nearly normal. No residual pain and I didn't even take ibuprofen beforehand. Three weeks later and my ear is gorgeous and pain-free. I sleep normally and clean it regularly. Originally, I felt that the jewelry was a bit too large for my ear but as time passed I noticed that the size Tobias picked shaped my ear so perfectly. Iris sent me a text a few days post-piercing and again two weeks later to check in on me. Great customer service. Now for the price... I mean you get what you pay for. In total my ear came to $230 before tip. I've gotten pierced in Australia, San Diego, NYC and NOLA and if you go to a reputable studio then that's the price you're going to pay. It's an experience and not just an in-and-out process. For that price, I expect to feel welcomed, know exactly how they sterilize their tools and jewelry, have a jewelry selection that I don't have to settle on, be informed on after-care and have the piercing be relatively painless. Iris hit all my marks and I would most definitely get another piercing done by Tobias! read more

I was thinking of getting my nostril pierced for the longest and finally decided to go for it yesterday. Found this place via Yelp the night before (did some intense research / stalking lol) and messaged Jesse to see if I would be able to come in. He replied right away w/ details + info and then I was on my way. My piercer was Casey, who is very informative, pleasant, and really sweet. She helped me pick out my stud(nice variety: from titanium, gold, white gold, to diamonds haha... i couldn't afford the diamonds ;p), sterilized everything (process was about 5 minutes), and next thing you know I'm on the chair with a needle through my right nostril. haha. She did tell me prior that she is very gentle and I can 100% attest to this You feel the needle pierce through literally for a nanosecond. I didn't even feel any pressure or discomfort while she put in my stud. So, to make a long review short, go to Iris studio to get your piercings. Their selection of jewelry is vast, superb quality and quite beautiful. As for prices, Casey asked me from the beginning what my price range was (with the piercing or without the piercing, etc) which was a delight since other places usually just try to make you spend as much $ as possible. I had an appointment to have my tragus pierced. My piercer was professional if a little brusque. The piercing didn't hurt at all. The shop was very clean. I spent $100 on a very tiny post that I thought was rose gold. When my ear wasn't healing at all after two months, I changed it to a gold hoop. That's when I learned that the metal in my ear was not actually gold. When I called the store they dismissed my concern, said oh yeah that earring comes with a titanium back. This was the first time I learned that. They hung up on me. I had to go to a different shop for a consultation to figure out how to heal my ear and procure proper jewelry. read more
