Unfortunately, Jersey Mortgage Company was not one of them. We decided to meet with them anyways. After meeting or talking to representatives from over 10 other companies, we decided to go with Al and his team at JMC. Our choice boiled down to trust and experience. Al made us feel so comfortable as first time homebuyers. He answered all questions that we had when other companies would avoid them. He spoke to us about closing costs, rates, etc and really took his time to explain all steps of our homebuying journey. In a way he was like a coach. We communicated via email, text message and phone. Having fast communication via all mediums was very important to us due to the time sensitivity of some of the transactions and due to our work schedules. We know that we had endless questions, and at times would ask the same thing more than once, but Al and his team were always patient and understanding. We had a family death in the middle of our home buying process that resulted in us having to make necessary unexpected emergency expenses. Al was very compassionate. When we returned he coached us on getting us back on track financially. As we made our way through the final stages of the mortgage process, and as our nerves kept getting the best of us, Al and Leonor were always there to reassure us and to take the stress away from the process. Al said that our mortgage loan could be done at the prices and payments that we were comfortable with. We were skeptical, but alas, at the end of the day, he was right! I highly recommend JMC. When I considered applying for a home loan, many things crossed my mind, such as 1) The level of mortgage rate lock, 2) Expected monthly payment on the loan versus what I was paying in rent by the time, 3) How much I would be paying in closing costs, and 4) If any additional cost would be unexpectedly incorporated into the final total amount (down payment + initial deposit + closing costs). I tell you what...a personal loan is usually very simple to understand if and only if there is no red flag, and this was exactly what I felt when working with Randy R. and his team (Rene A. and Linda O.). They explained to me in detail what was exactly possible and not possible based on my situation from the beginning of the negotiations. They make no unreal promises; clearly a quality of trustworthy people. They were always available to clear all my doubts from the beginning to the closing day. I'm sure I did ask them silly questions given my lack of knowledge on housing loan and I can assure you that, no matter what I asked, they would patiently answer it in detail with helpful examples for me to better understand what was being discussed. I'm the type of person who closely monitors his or her monthly expenses and, for this reason, I must have asked several questions to Randy, Linda and Rene during the process, including the breakdown of the closing costs, which costs (e.g. tank sweep) were not included in the closing costs, the initial amount of the escrow account, etc. The good thing was that they always responded to my emails and phone calls promptly and were clear and transparent in their responses, giving all the details I needed. Additionally, despite the large volume, I had no headaches whatsoever with the documentation required and provided in order to secure the loan, given how well organized Randy's team was to the point they would send me emails, highlighting any issues with existing documents, additional documents that were needed, and missing documents with instructions on how to get them. I wanted to let Jersey Mortgage know that if you didn't realize it by now, you are LUCKY to have Cari Sweet on your team!!! First and foremost, who works on a Sunday at 10pm? Cari does. As you know, purchasing a home is beyond stressful. Cari helped ease that stress. I would think of questions on a Sunday night at 10pm and send Cari a message and within seconds I would have an answer. I would need mortgage info for a specific offer on a home and no matter what Cari was doing, she would drop whatever that was, and send it on over. At times I felt so bad bothering Cari but she always told me that's what she was here for. She is beyond dedicated to her job. I was truly grateful to have Cari on our side. Many loan officers get a tough reputation for being "salesman" instead of facilitators and not really caring about the borrowers themselves, but more about the deal. Jeff could not possibly be farther from that. He was recommended to me via coworker and within 2 minutes of the first phone call - I felt totally assured. He asked me for all the info he needed, wrote and sent my preapproval letter and told me to have fun seeing homes. As a young woman working in the mortgage industry myself, I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the process and what it entailed; for me, my agent, the sellers, etc. And then.... I fell in love with a home that was for short sale. For anyone that knows anything about them - one they aren't short and second, they can be a miserable process. Thankfully - I had Jeff and Jersey Mortgage at my side. Anything the short sale bank needed from Jeff or his team was provided same day or next day at latest. While the same cannot be said for the short sale bank - he has the quickest response I have ever seen. You would think I was the only client Jeff had at that time due to the attention he provided. I would and have recommended this company to people, including my own family. Kim Charne and the rest of the team at Jersey Mortgage was extremely upfront, communicative and clear with what was needed to keep the process going smoothly. Something worth noting, I was referred to this company and literally had no face to face time with anyone for the first few months and they were STILL on board with all of my asks and providing me with a pre-approval letter while also, sticking to their numbers. After many months of back and forth Kim agreed to meet with my wife and I to discuss all of the happenings up to that point, and guide us on how to continue our search for our dream home. I have nothing but the utmost respect and gratitude for Randy Reay, Laura Kovacs and the staff of Jersey Mortgage. Last year I was using Citizens Bank to get a mortgage. I had everything required to get one and long story short they jerked me around for months with no explanation and nearly caused the deal to go bad and I lose my deposit. I also was at my old apartment weeks without a lease and that arrangement was in jeopardy. My realtor suggested that we dump these guys and go with Randy. I was referred to Jersey Mortgage after I was being scammed by another Mortgage Company. It was actually my attorney who told me to give them (and more specifically Randy Reay) a call. My attorney was right on the money!!!!! Both Randy and Suzy Lobo went above and beyond to help me through the loan process. They explained everything to me and made sure I understood what was going on. When the other mortgage company started giving me a hard time about transferring my files over, they went to work and ensured I didn't have to spend any extra money in having to do an appraisal over again.
