I was given and older lady to work on my pedicure, she had no strength so she didn't remove any of the dead skin. I didn't say anything because I felt bad. The next day I went back after thinking about it and asked if they could please fix it. They had the same old lady come out and "fix" it. I've been getting manicures and pedicures here for about 3 years. The owner, Queenie, and most of the staff are friendly. The place definitely needs to be cleaned. I went Friday right after I got off of work and it was slow. I had my pedicure done by Linda which turned out nice. Queenie asked me if I wanted my nails too. I told her I wanted a gel manicure only. She said ok. She asked what color and I showed her a picture of what I was wanting. She said that is ombre and that they can do it. Now mind you, my natural nails weren't super long, but they weren't short either...they were a nice medium length. So Queenie seats me with another tech (not the one who did my pedicure). The guy starts cutting my nails and I'm ok with that. Then he gets out the electric filer and starts filing my nail beds and asks what shape I want my nails. He then pulls out the acrylic nails. I told him that I do not want a set of nails...I only want a manicure. He asks me why!!!!!!! Umm hello why do I need to justify this??? And he kept insisting that I get a set of nails because I want ombre. I kept telling him I only asked for a manicure and that I do not want acrylic nails. He told me I wanted ombre and that the only way to do it is with the acrylics because my nails are all different lengths and all way too short. I told him he is the one who cut them all. He continued to pressure me to get acrylics, but I refused. I told him I will just pick another color since he can't do the ombre on my nails. I went with a French tip. The guy was extremely annoyed with me the entire time I had my manicure done. He cut and filed my nails way too short... I can see the tops of my fingertips above my nails. Yeah... that short! Getting gel nail polish I understand I have to put my hand in that light thing... And I had to keep telling him that it was too hot. It was literally burning my nails! He was even annoyed with me with that every time he had to dial it down. I can understand me having to tell him once, but having to repeat myself every time I put my hand inside??? He got white nail polish on a couple of my fingers. Anyone else would have just used nail polish remover to get it off. Not this guy! I guess he was too lazy to pull out the acetone and instead grabbed his nail file and tried filing it off!!!!! At the end, he brushed on cuticle oil on all my fingers. He closed his bottle and told me you're done. Every other time I've had a manicure there, the technicians would at least rub the oil into my cuticles...not just let the oil run off the sides of my fingers and drip. I go to pay (surprisingly Queenie didn't go to the register...the guy was my cashier too). Queenie was sitting close by at another nail station and asked him about the "ombre." This guy starts laughing and says something (in their native language) about "ombre" and continues to laugh and hold up his hand using his fingers to show something is very small/short. Then all the staff members were laughing...Including Queenie!!! I realized that they were laughing at my expense. I was embarrassed! As I was walking out, Queenie told me "Honey, let your nails grow longer and we can do ombre next time." There is definitely never going to be a next time for me there. In other places I've lived, places always used cotton with acetone and wrapped fingers with foil. I told the person not to cut my cuticles and only push back yet he still cut. I asked for slightly more oval than the square shape of my nails and ended up with very rounded. The color matched the number I picked but was much more muted. I asked for a third coat and this is when I realized the man must not understand much English. The color was supposed to be a deep purple and is more pink. It doesn't even look even on my fingers and with most being more translucent and some darker than the rest. Finally, 3 hours after leaving, a small chip has already formed. If you choose the right tech you'll be great. I have mixed feelings about this place so I gave it four but really it's a 3.55 to me. The girl who did my nails was great, they turned out amazing! But, The lady who did my pedicure was not great, a bit rough and the end result looks like I did it at home. I came here 5/27 around 6 pm and asked for a gel set and a guy took me in and I fully regret not speaking up about it but I will never return. I asked for a gel set and he worked OVER my acrylics, I asked twice to file and shape the way I wanted him too.. but he seemed bothered every time I asked and this was the end result. So I've been going here about 3 years now.. loved the place bc the QUALITY! Been to soo many places around El Paso even on bliss and they didn't come close. The customer service is great at times and others not so much but depends on the tech you get. They are welcoming, accommodate to a certain extent, will provide a water or some kind of snack or sweets while you wait. I wouldn't say it's relaxing but it's ok. I've gotten pedicures, manicures, powder dip, acrylic, gel powder with an overlay. These last several months and I mean several, the product quality has been slacking. Always wanting to cut off my natural nails and replace with tips. At times the end result looks good but then a few days later my nails aren't holding up same goes with the gel top coat. At times some techs are lazy and will cut the corners by not filing the sides on the existing gel powder overlays where there is white which means the product lifting from the nail.. they will leave it on and just fill over it. And when you hint at this they may do something about it but you have to physically say something and some nail techs get bothered by the correction. One time I had so much moisture under my nail bc it wasn't fully sealed that it eventually caused mold to grow under. I've gotten my nails done by the owner a few times and her lack of diligence that been noticeable, never use to be like this. I miss her daughter and I believe her cousin, I don't see them anymore. Anthony I believe that's his name he does amazing work but is always with someone. I only trust certain nail techs as well and it has gotten to the point that I'm starting to look elsewhere just for some competency. They do customer loyalty rewards which is great for me but now that their service is lacking it's a waste. So I showed up to this salon on a Sunday and literally had to return home because the owner had not arrived yet which was told to me by her employee that was waiting for her outside. I was excited to get my nails done here but was disappointed in the actual experience. When I arrived I stated I wanted a regular polish manicure, but kept being pressured to get shellac or fake nails. The manicure itself was thorough. When it came time to put the polish on I asked for a design. When she did the design and then applied clear it caused the design to blur. I asked for her to remove the design since it was blurred and just have plain color. She did after a back and forth of about four times (note: when I asked for the design to be removed I stated I would still pay for it so it wasn't a pay issue.) When she applied the clear she didn't cover the whole nail on 4 fingers so there are visible ridges in the polish where the clear ends before the nail. The polish chipped in two days. Their tools were in sanitary bags which was a comfort to see and the nail jobs of two other customers with acrylic nails came out very nice, so it may be that they aren't excited about regular polish manicures. read more
