I was excited to check out this local sports bar in Lodi after seeing all of the positive reviews…read more Honestly, it was a little underwhelming for me. Maybe I just ordered the "wrong things". Either way, my experience didn't live up to the hype. I visited on a late Saturday night. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant. The entrance can be tricky to find... It's located in the back on the left-hand side. The exterior and interior are both pretty dark, dull, and dingy. It's not the most inviting atmosphere at first. It has a divey, industrial, and rustic vibe to it, but hey... sometimes the best food comes from places that don't look like much. So I try not to judge. It wasn't too busy, and the service was attentive. The menu has your classic American comfort food - wings, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, etc. They switch it up with daily specials like skirt steak, chicken parm, and pasta. They have a full bar with cocktails, drafts, bottled beers, can ciders, and wines. You can even do a four-beer flight and make it a tasting experience! I ordered: *Dark & Stormy Cocktail [Goslings Dark Rum, Ginger Beer, Lime Juice] ($14) - Not the best one I've had, but it was solid. If you like ginger and rum, this is a must try. The dark rum has hints of caramel which works really well with the spicy ginger beer. The lime juice adds a citrus kick, so it's a really refreshing drink. *Margarita ($18) - As a tequila girly, I've had my fair share of margaritas. This one didn't do it for me. It was a little too sour/tart, which overpowered everything else. *Cubano Sandwich [includes roast pork, black forest ham, swiss cheese, pickles, mayo, and mustard with side of fries] ($16) - I wasn't expecting an authentic Cubano from an American sports bar, so my expectations weren't super high. This was good, but not great. The pork was flavorful, but could've been more tender. I wish there were more pickles and mayo for that extra tangy crunch. The bread was pressed a little too hard, so it was a bit tough to bite through. *Double Blackened Chicken Breast Sandwich [includes pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo, red peppers, and red onion on brioche with side of fries] ($18) - This was huge and filling! They did not skimp out on the protein. The brioche bun was soft and buttery. The chicken was well seasoned - smoky and savory with crispy charred edges. BUT... to my disappointment, the inside was dry and not juicy at all. Another small issue was the ratio - There was so much chicken compared to the rest of the toppings, so it wasn't the most cohesive sandwich. It really needed more cheese and chipotle mayo to tie all the flavors together. The fries were the best part - thick, crispy, and golden! It's decent bar food, just not the best I've had. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great or memorable. For the price, I didn't feel it was worth it. I do appreciate that their food is served piping hot and fresh. To be fair, this is probably the perfect spot for beer lovers. I happen to not be one, lol. The burger options sound popular and promising too. I'd consider giving them another shot for Happy Hour or to try a burger, but it's not at the top of my list. Just because it's not the sports bar for me, doesn't mean it won't be the one for you.

The place is very small so you may end up eating outside or in your car, but its fine. The Steve's special is what was recommended since I was a first timer and it was perfect with the special sauce. The limited sized parking lot is unpaved and not kept well. Indoor seating is tight. A single restroom is available, but it is located outside the restaurant (no worries, it is not a porta-potty). None of these characteristics about the restaurant matter because this is literally one of the best burgers I ever tasted. Named after the restaurant, this specialty gourmet burger was piled high and deep with cheese, bacon, a couple onion rings, and Steve's special sauce. The patty was juicy and the toppings really enhanced the flavor. The culmination of all the trimmings made the burger messy (which is a good problem) so be sure to have napkins handy. After I order arrived, I found out there is a combo special which includes fries and a drink. This is something that I will keep in mind for next time because it is financially a better deal. This location only accepts cash, so please plan accordingly. #stevesburgers #stevesburger #garfieldnj

There is always a wait at lunchtime regardless if you want to dine in or take out. I have been a fan of what they do for a long time because you just don't see this type of establishments around anymore. They have certainly stood the test of time. Beef patties, smashed with a lot of grilled finely cut onions, then add pickles, American cheese, and some ketchup, on a soft pillowy Martin's potato bread is a can't miss right? This formula has not changed here for decades. Like I said, I really appreciate the deep history. However, if I'm being honest, I wish the beef quality was better and the cook would add a tad more seasoning. For me, their burger has always tasted slightly bland compared to my favorite burger joints. Yet I still come back. Prices are not what it once was either, but what is? It's still very inexpensive. What I consider a large slider rather than a full size burger is still considered good eats in my book. I certainly would stop by when in the neighborhood if the lines are reasonable.

I chose the BBQ burger and although it was good it wasn't the best. The regular burger and the truffle fries were pretty good. I would recommend that one. The service was really fast.

"There's a Shake Shack right there." "Really?"…read more"Yeah.  I've stopped at that location a few times now." "Shake Shack?  That's my fave..." "I know." "Okay, let's go there then!" I'm driving, the Mrs. is helping me to navigate the ins and outs of the various highways and roadways and when we finally pulled into the parking lot I saw that... it's really a Smashburger.  (The joys of old age and your memories never being too reliable!)  This was my first time in the area (the mother-in-law is currently couped up at one facility, one of my kid's orthodontist is right across the street) and the whole fam decided to grab lunch at Shake, I mean... Smashburger.  I gotta say: I really dug the 'vibe' as soon as we walked in.  There was a cool 'mood' (layout, design, color choices) that their location on Rt. 3 is missing.  Otherwise...it's what you know/expect.  (Better than the likes of Red Robin and Habit Burger Grill, but can't dethrone Shake Shack.) The food is served entirely too hot. We were the only people in the place at the time but our meals still came out staggered so we're all eating at slightly different times. (I'll never grasp how/why that is, but the Smashburger in Clifton that we usually hit is keen on this as well.)  It ain't cheap but the food is tasty, the portions are legit.  A parking lot (which I think they kinda-sorta share with the various businesses in the vicinity).  For the record: half of my family swears the spicy chicken sandwich at their Rt. 3 location is much hotter (spice-wise) and messier (all around).

The go-to's are the platters here (for value and balance) with 3 sauces, fries + salad (chicken, chicken steak, and chicken lamb - basically just the chicken will do!). We've ordered food from them through delivery and pick-up - and find the staff always calm, and nice when dealing with busy periods as well. We've customized our platters before by increasing the portion of the protein or the fries or reducing the rice and for the price that was good too when we felt like changing it up. We love the chicken chopped cheese sandwich as well - it is mild but it is definitely the less greasier and messier version of the rest. We also love their hot sauce and white sauce. We have gotten extras and purchased the jar version once as well. The other items we have tried are the tenders, fried sandos, and some of the other sides + milkshakes. They are good but not as good as the platters imho.

They keep the windows and doors of the restaurant open, i guess to save on the electric bill. The restaurant is small, with only two tables and some bar seating. I liked the lamb more than the chicken, but the platter overall was pretty average. The Blazin burger had mozzarella sticks, bacon, and onion rings on it. It was better than fast food, but not by much. I'd go back.
